  • I am using the master inventory list I created last week to do some decluttering this week. Join me on this little decluttering vlog as I share how I declutter with my inventory list, and go on a mini-rant about "minimalist perfectionists" and how my brand of minimalism is a bit more... chaotic.

    I will be sharing the ups and downs of life and how to attempt to get through it in one piece. I’ll be sharing realistic life advice, minimalism tips, routines, vlogs, and anything else I think you would benefit from! Life is messy and unpredictable, and learning how to manage these hurdles is the first step to leading a happier and more intentional life. We're all trying our best out here, and I just want to share what is and isn't working for me.
    Sending you all my love,

    I am so impressed that you counted all your items…oh boy I would be counting for months!!! I’m a mom and I have totes of holiday decor and tons of my kids stuff!!! I honestly love my stuff but I know the day I move out of my rental home I’m gonna have a major meltdown. This video inspired to look for crap to declutter! Thank you!!!

      let me tell you it was not a fun experience and I procrastinated SO much😅 on the decluttering front though: you've got this !!! just think about the things that truly bring joy to your life or things that you regularly use. if you find something in a box and forgot you had it, chances are, you probably don't need to be keeping it 😂 (coming from a recovering bag hoarder and finding random things in every pocket of every bag I ever owned lmao)

    I love buying things but I also love returning things and decluttering. I need to stop loving buying things bc consumerism ain't good

      you and me BOTH!!! I feel like I've been falling off the wagon lately ... definitely excited to do my no buy year in 2024 lmao

      I always worry when I return things that the store just throws the item out instead of trying to resell it. It seems likely because of how quickly stores turn over inventory and how little it seems that big companies care about their products. Of course it depends on the type of item. That fear of waste prevents me from buying things I might return. I hope that helps a little!

      so true!! I've gotten to a place that is basically like unless I'm obsessed with it, I will not be buying it. plus with clothes, I just made a rule for myself that I can't buy something new without decluttering something I already own. so it's become a one for one swap out situation and I need to like the new item more than something I currently own

      You’ll help to make the world a better place! I’ve been spending less on material things for years now and it will get easier! It even gets fun, finding new ways to keep items longer😊

    I definitely prefer your method of decluttering, it feels more realistic and attainable. Also, less wasteful to declutter over time and not everything all at once, then possibly regret it and purchase more. At least that's what I've seen other channels do when they declutter "EVERYTHING"

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      also who has the energy and time to declutter everything all at once ?? I went through each room in my apartment pretty thoroughly at the beginning (still not totally all at once) and that was so exhausting LOL

    Hii Grace, I was sceptical at first about creating an entire inventory of my belongings but omg it makes the decluttering proceee so much easier. I love it, thank you for the idea :)

    I love love love this! This is the type of content that inspires me in my minimalism journey. Youre so right about decluttering. Its such a slow process but I see vids all the time of people getting rid of SO MANY items on a weekend.
    But I think when you just become intentional its much more sustainable.

    took the Chance to do some body doubling! Put a box of stuff out for my neighbors to take. Whatever's left after a week gets donated.

    I agree that alot of minimalism declutter videos are unrealistic, it has taken me 5 years to get a place where I am happy with my level of stuff 🙃 it took 4 of those 5 years for my husband to realise he wanted to join in lol

    9:30 LMAO! You're the only one I've seen that was realistic about that cuz I think that all the time when ppl say that 😂 I love how real u r about the TH-cam community

      @gracenevitt  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      thank you!!! this is truly all I aim for!! I'm out here just like everyone else and I hate how manicured/unrealistic some minimalist youtubers can be... or just so detached from the reality that most people have jobs that drain their energy lol 🙃 small spurts of decluttering is usually all I can handle at a time 😂

    • @shandalie8741
      @shandalie8741 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's kind of strange to me that I find those types of videos boring where ppl love that type of content but I like more realistic videos like u and the Carla project cuz yall live more of a realistic lifestyle and declutter here and there and just say what's rlly on your mind. You're very funny too about it 😂

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally agree!! I think everyone has their tastes, but sometimes those videos just feel a little too distanced and unreletable to me... I just try to keep it real bc it feels nice to see content where you feel seen and can relate to it!! in my opinion👀
