If there’s one city track that could be a huge fan favorite, it’s gotta be this one. 9/10 GCN Daisy Cruiser: I will preface this by saying that I’ve never played Double Dash, but honestly there’s not much here that’s very memorable about it to me, besides the tables, the underwater section, and the fact you’re on a cruise liner to begin with. It looks nice and the music is good, but I was never a fan of this theme to begin with. It just always sounded like a generic vacation theme to me. Still, this track is solid, if a bit overrated. 7/10 Wii Moonview Highway: I was never the biggest fan of this track back in Wii, mostly because I was very young and wasn’t a good Mario Kart player. Here, it’s really solid. The fact that there’s less cars than usual does kinda hurt it, but it’s still really fun to play on. It looks amazing, even though it’s similar to New York Minute, and the music is really good, especially in the city section. Really solid track. 8/10 Squeaky Clean Sprint: In short, this track is amazing! 9/10 Overall, the Feather Cup is amazing. One of my favorite cups in the game so far! Tour Los Angeles Laps: I do get where you’re coming from, but I personally like this track. I don’t think it’s amazing, but I do think that the fact is a sectional track does make it stand out, especially since you’re taken through a bunch of different settings in this track. It is definitely the weakest city track of the wave, though. Music is good, but I implore you to take a listen to the original. That one is very interesting. 8/10 GBA Sunset Wilds: Hot take here, but I like this track. It’s not amazing, the layout can be a bit simple at times, and the fact the sunset isn’t there is a bummer, but I still enjoy racing on it. It looks amazing anyway, and the song was always a highlight from Super Circuit. Also, the reason the sunset isn’t there might be because of the engine having baked in lighting and shadows, making the track look weird if the skybox changed. In short, Sunset Wilds was always gonna be doomed in 8DX. Which makes me think why they didn’t bring in tracks like Yoshi Desert, Luigi Circuit, Cheep Cheep Island, or one of the Bowser’s Castles instead. 7/10 Wii Koopa Cape: Great track, wish there was a little more. 8/10 Tour Vancouver Velocity: This is probably my favorite city track in 8DX (Berlin Byways is my favorite in Tour). It is a blast to drive through, with it’s unique settings, amazing music, and varied layout (outside of Lap 3). I get why you might not like it very much, but to me, this is my favorite track of the wave. 9/10 Overall, the Cherry Cup is a bit of a disappointment compared to the Feather Cup, but it’s still a good cup. Overall, Wave 5 is really good. It’s definitely better than Waves 1 and 2, about the same level as Wave 3, but worse than Wave 4. I’m really excited for what’s to come in Wave 6. I can’t believe we have one wave to go. Man, time really does fly by fast. I’m gonna miss all this…
Agreed with your take on Sunset Wilds. As someone who never experienced the original, I think it's a perfectly fine track that imo wouldn't change in my rankings much if it did have the changing skybox.
That was an incredible video analyzing the courses and ranking them! I respect your opinion on where you put the courses. However, I was really hyped up for Vancouver when they said they were going to bring it, just cause of how beautiful the city looks and the soundtrack. Also, I was not expecting Moonview Highway to have a remix that sounds SO GOOD! Arguably one of the best remixes I’ve heard in a Wii retro track. I kinda wished there were more cars on the highway, like in the Wii. But overall, it’s been shown a lot of love recently. It was brought in Tour very recently and hearing the news that it was coming to Deluxe made Moonview Highway more memorable.
Squeaky clean spirit actually has 2 more shortcuts!!! At the beginning if you go over the toothbrushes there's a boost pad or you can trick off a small notebook for some coins, using the boost pad you can also get a mystery box and then trick off a palm tree! Little shortcut I thought was cool!
One track I’m surprised they didn’t include in the BCP is 3DS Shy Guy Bazaar. From what I’ve heard, it was originally going to be in Mario Kart 8’s original DLC, but got swapped out for Cheese Land. Huge shame to see such a fantastic course get snubbed again, as I think Wave 6 might be a little too late for a mushroom cup track. Justice for Shy Guy Bazaar! Can we replace Sunset Wilds with it?
@@Puggers22 Apparently, there were assets of the track left in the files labeled under “D3ds_SandTown”. Huge shame it didn’t come to the game, I would’ve much preferred it as the desert track over the butchered Cheese Land aesthetic remake.
The problem with Vancouver Velocity is that lap 1 aka VV1 in tour is just the best one. I’m sad it didn’t end with VV1 R or something like that. 3rd lap dropped the ball
I think this is one of my favorite videos you’ve made. Not only were you able to pump it out in the span of like 3 days but it’s also very funny (rip Patrick) and interesting. Huge props
My favourite wave 5 tracks in the booster course pass are athens dash moonview highway squeaky clean sprint lots Angeles laps koopa cape and Vancouver velocity
As someone who has played Tour everyday since Launch i quite like the city tracks. In tour as you know its segmented so they are shorter and each one is more distinct. I do like Tour tracks are preserved in 8 and i love they combine all the laps from Tour. Los Angeles and Vancouever are my two favorite city tracks by far so will disagree with you there. Do enjoy all your booster pass videos. Idk how they fucked up Sunset Wilds. Probably an oversight. I quite like the track with the changing sky. Also a big fan of Athens/Rome/London/Amsterdam/New York/Bangkok/Singapore. Sydney kinda bores me as well as Paris and Tokyo and Berlin. Idk if im forgetting any i think that covers it.
The best track for me in this wave is definitely Koopa Cape as I grew up with it and bringing it back gave me the most nostalgia. However, removing the sunset from Sunset Wilds was a major disappointment so Nintendo really needs to fix that. Besides that, this wave was all right though I'm not a fan of Athens and is my least favorite from this wave. Los Angeles is a banger though, espescially with the music and coastal vibes.
i was playing this game with my friends yesterday and it was around 10:10 when we got to squeaky clean sprint. my goofy self really thought and believed that the clock was actually set to be accurate to the real time ☠️☠️
I remember koopa cape being the first ever track I played and I loved it. I like the remake but the one thing that bothers me is that the river part is not just river but also road wich makes it feel less natural and beautifull like the original (or atleast the 7 version) did
Be interesting wat wave six will be like. They’ll have to end it with a bang and pick out tracks that r mind blowing. For the last two characters to unlock I think the last two characters should be diddy kong and king bob-omb.
Another fun thing about wiggler: his i frames after getting hit are easier to notice, since he gets mad during them (very useful for people training to banana themselves out of a blue shell
LA Laps was one of my favorite tracks but only cos i’m from there , i j liked dodger stadium being included but was a little shocked they had us driving through oil rigs 😭
9:21 Despite the Bomb cars, I still want to see Mushroom Bridge. That would be a great way to upscale the traffic gimmick, with Mushroom Cars that shoot out mushrooms if you bump into them and Wiggler wagons that serve as elongated obstacles. It would be a good pick for the final traffic course of the pass.
Just a few things I noticed with my first playthough and this video :) 1) although athens is great and all, I really didnt enjoy how the last item set is before the rolling rocks section. 2) in squeaky clean sprint, the second time through’s glider section has like 4 ways to go with 2 sections being double item boxes. 3) LA Laps the beach section has a tight turn you could take with a mushroom. (I also didnt know there were a few coins in the water). 4) the coin layout in the stadium, although very strange looking, is shaped like a baseball. 5) the sunset 💀 6) As a big ost person with these waves, i love how koopa cape has 3 different songs. 7) in vancouver velocity, right before the last like 1 turn theres a very skinny mushroom shortcut. My overall thoughts is feather cup is amazing for the dlc and cherry cup was kinda a letdown. I also like how the balance changes between characters made more characters, karts, and combo’s viable. Even though the new meta still is the same (ish), it adds a little bit for variety in my opinion.
My favorite part of this wave is when the baby sun from teletubbies raises above the mountains in Athens Dash and tells you to clean the garage in Arlo’s dad’s voice
another great video! your humor is so well timed, and its exactly the kind of stupid thinhs i laugh at (like crashing into the pot and the lego patrick segment). all your videos are amazing, keep it up!
This may be the best wave yet and my favorite so far! Although Yoshi's Island still may be my favorite track from the Booster course pack and is just one of my favorite Mario kart tracks of all time now.
as much as i love the idea of the red arrows and the changing each lap i hope that in the next game they aren’t _literally_ giant holographic red arrows it’s so easy to go careening into them lots of the time, making you wait for lakitu, and the take a bit longer to process in your brain than any other turns also they kinda break the immersion, as much as there is in mario kart maybe mario kart nitpicks video should happen
I would personally put Sunset Wilds in C tier instead of D tier because the landscape is cool, but it would be higher if they brought back the sunset feature, which I think is still possible.
koopa cape returning is cool and i do like what they did with the tunnel but deep down i really wish the tunnel was kept underwater like in wii; and being able to drive all the way around it with anti gravity. imagine throwing a shell diagonally and it doing insane loops
You specifically would love that ring in the Squaky Clean Sprint track, as it is actually the exact same ring as the one in Tostarena in Mario Odyssey!
Even modders got the sun to set properly. That track alone really brings down the whole wave. It’s still really good, but the last 2 had no bad tracks, so this might be slightly worse than the 4th and not as good as the 3rd.
The underwater storage area in GCN Daisy Cruiser is a shortcut, it’s just a more obvious one and it was the least obvious in the original GameCube version

I get why you might not like it very much, but to me, this is my favorite track of the wave. 9/10
Overall, the Cherry Cup is a bit of a disappointment compared to the Feather Cup, but it’s still a good cup.
I hope N64 Bowser's Castle and GCN Dino Dino Jungle come back for Wave 6. I also want Pauline and Funky Kong to return.
tbh i hope Funky Stadium and Dummy Cube return as playable characters
@@thewinner4378Ah yes. Funky Stadium. The greatest character of all
DDJ is mid, I’d rather have DK Mountain
@@mimikyutubesaltaccount4875 You're right. I forgot about DK Mountain.
Datamine says that there’s no more 64 tracks and two GCN tracks left
Appreciate it 👍 now I have an upper hand against my cousins when we play, they're good so it'll come in handy 😂
Just as someone who lives in Vancouver, I love the Vancouver track haha. It’s just such a cool representation of the city 😆
Wait really, where'd you hear it from
@@Puggers22 Apparently, there were assets of the track left in the files labeled under “D3ds_SandTown”. Huge shame it didn’t come to the game, I would’ve much preferred it as the desert track over the butchered Cheese Land aesthetic remake.
@@milkshakedraws6944I agree, Cheeseland should have either stuck to the space aesthetic or not be in the Mario kart 8 DLC
@@milkshakedraws6944My issue with Cheese Land is people bag on it online lmao
Wake up babe, new Odyssey Central video
LA Laps is completely inaccurate. There’s not homeless people everywhere
The problem with Vancouver Velocity is that lap 1 aka VV1 in tour is just the best one. I’m sad it didn’t end with VV1 R or something like that. 3rd lap dropped the ball
Odyssey when he goes to a real life city:
"The roads here are too long, there's too much city stuff here."
Unless it's New Donk City though.
@@SlinkSup99
lol yeah it’s the Mario Odyssey bias.
But if it’s a city that appeared in Tour first it’s a worse experience *only* because Tour sucks.
I think this is one of my favorite videos you’ve made. Not only were you able to pump it out in the span of like 3 days but it’s also very funny (rip Patrick) and interesting. Huge props
We all laughed at Nathaniel Bandy back then, not knowing that one day he would be the one laughing.
Nathaniel Bandy is all knowing
@@Odyssey_Central Indeed.
Daisy Cruiser is INCREDIBLE
R.I.P Lego Patrick head never forgotten
I dunno if this is a good idea, but I'd love to see a tierlist for the track OSTs in the final episode for Wave 6!
My favourite wave 5 tracks in the booster course pass are athens dash moonview highway squeaky clean sprint lots Angeles laps koopa cape and Vancouver velocity
I love how he bathroom track is just linked to Nathaniel in a way lmao
I've never heard anyone talk about Mario sluggers so passionate like you because I played it last week with the family and it was fun
19:47 that transition was SMOOTH
19:46 Nice transition!
My s tier tracks in this wave are Athens dash moonview highway squeaky clean sprint Los Angeles laps koopa cape and Vancouver velocity
I love your humor dude, an incredible video all in all :)
Mario Kart Wii was the first game I ever played so it's amazing getting this many tracks from the game!
i was playing this game with my friends yesterday and it was around 10:10 when we got to squeaky clean sprint. my goofy self really thought and believed that the clock was actually set to be accurate to the real time ☠️☠️
I remember koopa cape being the first ever track I played and I loved it. I like the remake but the one thing that bothers me is that the river part is not just river but also road wich makes it feel less natural and beautifull like the original (or atleast the 7 version) did
I always like you making these level analysis videos on the Booster Course Pass, especially because I’m too poor to play them my self
Oh my god this was an amazing video one of my favorites on the channel oh and congrats at 150k❤😀
Bro the waterfall guy was CLEAN!
14:45
I noticed that too. I think it’s like that in order to look more like a baseball
The song of squeaky clean sprint has sorta like a remix of jumpp up superstar
Koopa Kape has been neutered
Athens greatly benefits from being more of a "ruins" theme track instead of city #8 with the exact same street texture,
Be interesting wat wave six will be like. They’ll have to end it with a bang and pick out tracks that r mind blowing. For the last two characters to unlock I think the last two characters should be diddy kong and king bob-omb.
I hope the last wave has a Bowser's Castle. We haven't gotten any remakes of any castles yet, but we have like 5 Rainbow roads.
we're getting snes bowsers castle 3 (i think it's 3) in wave 6
Honestly I think that squeaky clean sprint and ribbon road are in the same house
Rip the lego Patrick head😔
This is easily my favorite Mario kart level by level video you was killing me with the edits in this one they was so funny
19:46 DUDE!!!! That transition was fireeeee
6:48 "while not many actual changes were made here they didn't really need to change anything" and that's exactly why it came to the pass easy effort
10:10 you forgot to talk about the music changing halfway through the track again, bruh 💀
Just a few things I noticed with my first playthough and this video :)
1) although athens is great and all, I really didnt enjoy how the last item set is before the rolling rocks section.
5) the sunset 💀
6) As a big ost person with these waves, i love how koopa cape has 3 different songs.
I disagree, this wave was on par with Wave 2 in terms of quality
Music Wise
8 Sunset Wilds
7 Los Angeles Laps
6 Koopa Cape
5 Squeaky Clean Sprint
4 Daisy Cruiser
3 Athens Dash
2 Vancouver Velocity
1 Moon View Highway
as much as i love the idea of the red arrows and the changing each lap i hope that in the next game they aren’t _literally_ giant holographic red arrows
it’s so easy to go careening into them lots of the time, making you wait for lakitu, and the take a bit longer to process in your brain than any other turns
also they kinda break the immersion, as much as there is in mario kart
maybe mario kart nitpicks video should happen
Congrats on 150k!!! I’ve always loved your videos!
I would personally put Sunset Wilds in C tier instead of D tier because the landscape is cool, but it would be higher if they brought back the sunset feature, which I think is still possible.
The landscape is literally the same as Kalimari Desert, a track that actually got a good remake in 8DX
The transition here is amazing 19:46
Everytime a new wave releases this is what im most exited for
koopa cape returning is cool and i do like what they did with the tunnel but deep down i really wish the tunnel was kept underwater like in wii; and being able to drive all the way around it with anti gravity. imagine throwing a shell diagonally and it doing insane loops
You specifically would love that ring in the Squaky Clean Sprint track, as it is actually the exact same ring as the one in Tostarena in Mario Odyssey!
19:46 that was a GREAT transition
Even modders got the sun to set properly. That track alone really brings down the whole wave. It’s still really good, but the last 2 had no bad tracks, so this might be slightly worse than the 4th and not as good as the 3rd.
The underwater storage area in GCN Daisy Cruiser is a shortcut, it’s just a more obvious one and it was the least obvious in the original GameCube version
I feel like Moonview Highway has less cars than in wii, feels weird seeing the roads so empty.
