Update: Boomtown has decided to reset the story for the 2021 festival after the 2020 festival was cancelled. Tickets have been on sale since the first. The new chapter (Chapter 1) is called The Gathering. It’s a shame to hear that they are resetting the story as I would have liked to hear what was going to be done for chapter 12. Just thought I’d post this here to be informative!
I feel like I need to clarify as a Brit who has attended Boomtown twice... the ARG side of the festival is criminally overlooked by the average attendee. You have to actively go out seeking an involvement in the story and 99% of the people go for the music and are so hopped up on a variety of drugs that you will see more cracked-out 18 year olds than actual actors. The story is set dressing and you can experience the full thing through videos / online, by no means should you go just for the actors and story as they are only out in the daytime and you will be disappointed.
Just found this video but yes totally agree. The maze generally only runs from about midday to 6pm. It is amazing but it’s actually rly hard to do it. During chapter 11 I was playing for six hours a day the whole weekend and only managed to complete about three fifths of it. I love dnb and rock tho so the evenings were still great for me but definitely not for everyone.
First of all, the fact that the current chapter is called "State of Emergency" given current world events is amazing, and the new Little Pharma stage is the cherry on top. This is such a unique and unprecedented twist on music festivals, and I love the creativity and diversity of the districts and how they tie in with all of these musical genres I've never even heard of. As someone far more into stories and the visual arts than music, I can easily appreciate the storytelling, sets, and costumes that make this work so well, but I think it's the performers that tie the event together into something anyone can enjoy, whether they are unfiction fans like us or huge lovers of music. Boomtown seems like Halloween and Christmas rolled into one adventure. I'm sad I've never heard of this before, but thank you Night Mind for the introduction!
Yeah, I was not sure if it was a joke at first or not, then it became clear it wasn't... I'm disappointed, but at the same time you gotta do what you gotta do to survive right now.
this is literally Burning man for unfiction nerds. Love this, and I agree. I want to go. Hell I'll drag my beast-men form and really turn up the party.
I have a friend within a reasonable distance of the festival (in England). She invited me to visit her when the pandemic is over, so I’m current,y trying to convince her to go
And taking away. At least according to what I've heard about the game, you get the free hero and whatever else from using the sponsored sign up link, but after that it is a game full of micro-transactions that just just nickel and dime you into infinity to progress.
I mean, considering it's a "free"-to-play mobile game, it's already a potentially bad sign. And then, you look at the people that own it and you don't even need to fire it up to know what kind of economy to expect.
@@imjustwolf Oh yeah, it's really fucking grindy. You basically pay to grind, since that's all the game is. And packs that cost 30 bucks and up potentially don't get you anything, because you just draw heroes from loot boxes with abysmal chances of getting anything good.
you know having a family who went to nearly every boom town and live pretty near but not being able to explain anything well after going im glad this video now exists
The music festival part is invasive of the ARG? I have a friend who'd love the festival part but I fear that it would clash with me wanting to follow the story.
@@PrinceSoph the story is intertwined with the music. You can go for both and really enjoy it. If you watch "Boomtown man behind the mask closing ceremony" it's shows you the story part whilst also being part of the festivals music lineup. I know this as my mate actually made the track and played the set
For those who're wondering how Boomtown faired with the COVID-19 pandemic, they've actually announced that the 2021 festival is a complete reboot of Boomtown's storyline, which in turn means they're going smaller-scale to try and reduce ticket prices since they recognize that people are financially struggling during the pandemic.
I actually attend boom town every year since its inception and I also go to the more recent Halloween and other events. This video doesnt do it justice (it's not you're fault) as it's something you seen to experience.

Anhedonic Lake been to a number of larger festivals, the seething mass of humanity is daunting, disturbing and worrying, until you get into the middle of it and realise something, your free. Free to get in the pit and mosh with the others, free to chill out with a pint and observe, free to lose your voice singing along and cheering. The only person your there for is you, the only person who cares about your insecurities is you, that daunting seething mass of humanity will accept you, share smokes, pick you up if you fall over and laugh, cheer, scream and sing with you. I thought the same as you, my introverted butt sat home and watched until my friends got me to go to one where I stayed on the outside looking in, slowly dipping my toes into the atmosphere but having a great time, after a few years and more festivals I flew from Australia the to Uk to hit up download last year and it was like i was finally home on the other side of the world in a field with a heap of other people just enjoying the music, the food, the drink and the company of strangers.
How immersive is the experience? From the video it looks like 95% of the attendees are just there for the music (not that there's anything wrong with that).
@@kenlieck7756 Honestly it’s rly up to how u choose to spend ur time. The vast majority of people are there for the music but pretty much everyone dabbles in the maze to some degree just because u can’t avoid it. My sister and I go pretty hardcore into it tho. Generally most of the actors are only around from 12-6 on fri, sat and sun and we’ve spent those whole 18 hours doing the maze and not finished it some years. Can I just say thank you for continuing to make high quality content that can cover unnerving horror and yet never rely on cheap scare tactics? It's 9 am right now, and I'm taking this pandemic deal to learn to crochet better, and your videos are by far the best to listen to while working.
Can we just be happy our favorite monster cat is getting a sponsor?
Congrats, man... cat... gloriously unspeakable horror of the night. Congrats.
Nothing beats Boomtown, an experience like no other. Truly the best thing you could ever be a part of. So hyped to see NM giving it a voice in the US! It’s heavy though, at least 1 person a year dies
2.3k views in 15 minutes?? Way to go man this channel is doing great!
Boomtown is absolutely incredible! Been the last two years and best weekend of the year

if you skip, he doesn't get paid, and if he doesn't get paid, I doubt he's gonna continue to make videos. Be nice.
@@queerengineer the video's made, skipping something in the vid itself doesn't matter
As a Brit and a lover of Boomtown, this made me smile
I CANT WAIT TO LISTEN TO THIS WHILE DOING MY HOMEWORK THATS LIKE A DAY LATE YESSSSS!!!
Only a day? I'm sitting on stuff that's nearly 2 weeks past due... technically speaking. Of course, campus hasn't been open since the first week of march...
Well, you did it... You actually did it... You managed to actually surprise me with a RAID sponsorship...
You mad genius...
really cool that you're doing a video on boomtown, last time I went to the event was Chapter 9, which unfortunately made the news for the wrong reasons when we had to wait in a queue for 8 hours straight, my god that day was harder than it needed to be but it was definetely worth the unforgettable weekend
Wearing face shields now at work has allowed me to secretly wear my headphones and it is the best thing ever to listen to these stories through out the day, they make the day pass by with ease so I wanted to say thanks for your content Nick
The real Cabin Fever Dreams where the adds we saw along the way
Gotta love the Canadian weather, even though spring is right around the corner, it still feels like winter, and you gotta love that..
I can't wait for him to tell us all about the new covid-19 arg.
That's what I thought the video was about when I read the title. Sucks being inside the Plague Inc game
I just became a patreon and this is the first video I've seen my name in! It was a little moment of joy, thank you!
We're just taken by surprise since this is your first sponsored video (afaik) but by all means, you put out great content so I'm more than happy to sit through some ads.
Heres hoping that Nick covers Chapter 1 come August. I actually would love if it became a yearly tradition for the channel so he could really go deeper into the story on a year by year basis
This make me wonder if you'd be interested in covering The House of Eternal Return and/or Omega Mart.
This is the only video series in which I will accept a Raid ad
I sure hope Raid put a high enough price on his integrity.
lol ded
From what I've heard they pay like nobody's business, so not a bad financial decision given where the economy's headed
@@camelopardus5955 They pay "You're stupid not to take it" levels. I don't ever look down on any content creators who take the deal especially with the current TH-cam CPM rates.
A 2 minute Raid: Shadow Legends ad in a Nightmind vid. This truly is the darkest timeline
oof, Raid got to him. (Whatever pays the bills!)
That's amazing! I wish I could go! At least we can all go to the sites and take part in that part of the story.
Also, can I just say, the amount of work that must have gone into that is unheard of. Seriously, hats off to these guys. Wow.
I will say that that was by far the most entertaining ad for Raid Shadow Bullshit I've seen on TH-cam. Good job, Nick.
You really have that old tv vibe in the beginning with that annoying high pitch noise before playing a video. I love it.
I seriously read this as "Boomertown"
Gotta say I’m at work needing something to listen to while I work. I found this channel which talks about all these creepy subjects, ARGs, and whatever else I’m too scared to look into myself. I got a nice voice to tell me scary stories, and I just watched your Sophie video which had me hooked. Now I’m here watching your latest upload and I need to subscribe to support this channel and what it does. Time to watch, thanks again Night Mind!
For the next Lost Footage: NM actually playing Raid Shadow Legends.
I never thought I would see this on Night Mind! BoomTown is great! I've been a couple of times and it's great!
what people think boomtown is: immersive expansive beautiful alternate reality game laid out over a music festival
what boomtown actually is: thousands of people doing ketamine and shitting in the woods while bad drum n bass plays.
Ha. Im in a tent at boom town right now and as a first timer id say both are true,!
Oh dear god, I never go to festivals or anything but I love unfiction and LARPs, and I absolutely LOVE cyberpunk, all the Bang-Hai Industries stuff is so interesting. I NEED to go yo this event some day, it just sounds like such an amazing experience.
Who else is sick of the Raid without even playing it?
The planning involved here is insane, the characters pop up everywhere! X
Well this won't be happening this year
Aww...
Boomtown's new district: coronatown
No it is!!! They haven’t cancelled it yet it’s in August
@@hooblesnoober5197 How?
RoomTemperatureHotpocket hope that everything will be over by then
I'm gonna be honest- this seems like everything I wanted Disneyworld and Universal Studios to be when I was a kid. I absolutely adore the idea of a real life place that seems to be completely separated from reality, that anybody can take part in. I really hope this goes on for a while yet, because I absolutely want an opportunity to go! Thank you for covering this!
i literally performed there and i didn’t know of this 😔
So excited to see another NM video!
❤🙏🏻❤
No one:
Not one soul on Earth:
This dummy thick black cat: Is that a raindeer with a hooksword? :0
Youre right... How have I not heard of this?
looks like boom towns won’t be on this year. bad timing
I know right? was finally looking forward to this after turning 17 now this bloody virus ruining the year. hopefully, the virus dies out before August so we can have boomtown
I would think so, but at the moment they reckon they'll be past the peak.
alegra's monologues we would be lucky enough to have this pandemic over by august. it was estimated to be over by or near next year
here in the uk theyre saying that theyre positive about the current vaccine research being ready by June/July, fingers washed and crossed
The amount of effort that went into this one is insane. Wow.
Well now... I'm gonna go see if i can incorporate something like this into my tabletopRPG setting(s) right away.
P.S: Nice try but no one's gonna top InternetHistorian's Raid ads.
I know, but when you get a shot to follow the tradition of the greats, you take it.
Red shadow leggings
So awesome to know my name is shared with boomtown
So... Was that an advertisement for a music festival?
Not going to lie: I honestly did not see the ad for RAID coming. It was really well done and made me laugh. I might actually just try it specifically because of the way it was intentionally though subtly shoe-horned in.
Everyone seeing everyone sell out to Raid Shadow Legends IS my fever dream.
