If you are lucky enough, you come across a song that is the anthem for your entire life; a song that resonates and speaks to your core at the begining, middle and end stage of each chapter in your life from teenage folly to my current reality of mid 50's. This song is and always will be my constant. Look out 60's, I'll still keep reminding myself of this.
I’ve heard this song 10 million times & not ever thought about this being about his mom… makes sense but Maynard is a master of making songs that have multiple meanings for the listener
There is a particularly epic bassline that plays twice during the highest emotional peaks of the song - though you don't notice it really because you're focused on Maynard and the repetitive guitar line, but you feel it! I truly think it's worth saying that not all of Maynard lyrics are about his mother. Obviously his experiences with her are always kind of a foundational inspiration, which may shine through. But with tremendous respect, when they are just about her, he makes it pretty obvious. This song is about depression and grief - surrender and resolve. Nearly all of his songs are about himself first and foremost - and maybe he is hinting at some external entity as a proxy for that self, but the true meaning of most of his lyrics, and particularly this album are about personal healing, growth and transformation. And his lyrics are so powerful because they come from a sincere place knowing and experience - whether it was the projection of one's own pain in Undertow, or the realization of that projection in Aenima, to the process of healing and self-realization in Lateralus to then . . . . well I won't spoil anything about 10,000 Days. The vast majority of explanations for his lyrics you'll find online are just something a fan said once long ago that a lot of people latched onto. Even his own brief and scarce explanations need to be taken with a grain of salt, as he used to do nothing but troll interviewers and fans. Whenever you hear "This was about a friend of the band" you can rest assured that it is about probably Maynard, or one of the other band-mates. The whole album of Lateralus is about the self vs. the Self - exploring your own self-determined limitations and habitual patterns, and the healing that comes with that. I think it misses the point to consider his words being about anyone other than himself, for the majority of his lyrics, but particularly this album (with the exception of MAYBE Ticks and Leeches, but even then. . . .) While I concede there may be intentional double meanings, the foundation of the lyrics is about himself. While this is probably my favorite all-time song by them, I acknowledge many people's other comments that the album just keeps getting better. As always thanks for YOUR sincerity and the opportunity to enjoy this music with fresh eyes!🙏 Edit: To clarify, I'm not saying he is selfish in his lyrics that everything is about him. But all of this is heavily inspired by Jungian psychology, which is in turn mostly inspired by Yogic philosophy. And Yoga is the journey to the Self through the self. There is only One consciousness, and you must move through, understand and heal the ego (self) to reveal that Oneness (Self.) 🙏
I heard somewhere that Ticks and Leeches was written to the record label when they wanted Tool to sound more like Slipknot, telling the record execs to suck it Could be wrong tho, but that's a funny story so I'm keeping it as headcanon
@@iangillies711 that is one story that actually does seem to have some truth to it. That's why I said they're all about him except possibly Ticks N Leeches lol. I do think in the greater concept of the album it still makes sense. That visceral anger and destructive (transformative) expression is a very real part of the Self. We can heal from it, but its nature is ever present as the catalyst for change. Even in this expression a certain maturity is shown, as this familiar anger is now directly and clearly expressed without any need to disguise this part of the Self through sarcasm or pessimism. Whereas this feeling was continuously present through the previous albums, it's just one song here - reflective of it's place in the hierarchy of consciousness. It's real and needs to be acknowledged - but there's so much more of the other glorious aspects of life and the Self to focus on more regularly. 💚🙏
This is one of my all time favorites, although not necessarily the most popular. I've gotten the opportunity to see this song twice live.... just magic. Let's GOOOOOO 😁😁
This song hold a special place in my heart. I’m a cancer warrior, stage 4 kidney cancer with metastatic bone disease. The day I found out I had cancer, I put this song on. It’s my theme now! I’m the patient, but I have to have patience to wait out the treatments and fight to get better. I could give up and let the disease take over. But I’m still going fight and give blood ( figurative and literally) to save my life. And I’m man enough to admit it that that tribal resonates with my soul and brings me tears every single time I hear it. Thanks bro!
The thing about this album is that every damn song has SO MANY signature moments - drum parts, bass hooks, guitar lines, vocal/lyric elements - every song is absolutely nuts and this is probably the most underrated of all of them.
Dude...there are still two albums after this that just get more and more epic. 5 years after this they did 10,000 Days and 12 years after that was Fear Inoculum. They really spread out the art..and I think that's what makes it perfection. Love your videos bro!
While every TOOL song is excellent, and they all have a way of changing your perspective of life, I think the Grudge and The Patient combined have had more real world impact on me than any other music, any advice, any conversation I've ever had... Let go of grudges, and be patient... Amazing. And if ever a bit of song is going to be randomly stuck in my head, it's likely to be Eon Blue Apocalypse, it's so mesmerizing.
Skullz thank you for deciding to cover Tool and go through their discography (though make sure at the end you check out Opiate, it's raw, but great). But honestly, I've been watching Tool reaction channels for a long time now and no one has been able to provide the insights into their music like you have. Your understanding of Maynard's lyrics right out of the gate is astounding, and you've even taught me a lot about how to interpret these songs, and Tool has been the soundtrack of my life for over 25 years now! The connections you draw on your analysis of their music really is incredible, and has given me some new ways of looking at some of the songs, so thank you. And also I really enjoy how you're able to recognise the quality of Adam's contributions on guitar. A lot of channels don't mention him much, probably because he doesn't leap out to them as technical, but he has the unique ability to make that guitar speak to the listener. He brings his parts to life and breathes soul into them, it's great that you can see that. Cheers!
Thank you! Really appreciate the kind words! Yeah Maynard and I think a lot alike. About life and music 💯 But I'm glad I could help you get more out of the songs! They are truly special works out art! I do my best and it makes me happy to see it being appreciated 🙏
Whenever someone asks me what Im listening to, when its Tool most of the time, I hook them with this song. 9 out of ten times I see their eyes leak a little, and they become riders on the Tool train.
@@Skullzrapper The fact that this is technically only the 3rd song on Lateralus means you are only on the cart going up the first incline. Haha. And then there is Fear Inoculum.
My God, how I love this song so much!!! Maynard, of course, lets his genius come forward in this song. Not only lyrically, but also HOW he sings the lyrics. I absolutely love the part when he sings, “I must keep reminding my self of this” over and over as if he’s doing just that!! Damn, what a great freaking band!!
Maynard has and still brings me to tears often, not only from the meaning of what he's singing about but also from just the sheer beauty of his vocals. Truly a vocal god.
Please make sure you listen to Disposition, Reflection, Triad together. That's the Holy Trinity amongst Tool fans. This is my favorite album and it's phenomenal top to bottom. Not that their other albums aren't either but Lateralus was a big step in the bands progression and evolution. Lyrically this is a self help book. Maynard gives a lot of advice about working on your inner self. There is one song that needs an asterisk: Ticks and Leetches. The story is the big wigs at the record label wanted a more "radio-friendly" song that wasn't 10 minutes long and was harder. So the guys wrote Ticks and Leetches to troll the music company business men. It's still a bad ass song and I'm actually glad that all went down to force it in a way
Easily one of the top 5 TooL songs in my opinion. The slow build, the culmination of all the instruments during the chorus, the deep and emotional meaning behind the words, truly an amazing piece of art. Great video man, some real interesting opinions on the music I’m into it, gonna watch your other ones too.
Oh man just wait Adam continues to step out front the further you go!! Love watching you go through these, feels like I'm going back through for the first time again.

I wasn't a huge Tool fan before this album, but I was 16 when this came out and me and a friend went riding around after school one day and he had just bought this album. I heard this song and it blew my mind. I felt like I had never heard music before. Needless to say I was hooked after that. This is my favorite album of all time. I don't listen to it very often these days, but when I do it feels like a soul cleanse.
Haha, so relatable! I was seventeen. My friend bought Lateralus and we used to listen to the whole album on long drives. I said "this feels like somehow more than just listening to a song," and I‘ve heard many fans say it since. It's a peculiar sentiment, but it feels true
Here‘s some spooky food for thought regarding "more than just a song;" there are photos of the band engaged in ritual magic together, around the time Lateralus was made, and Danny has referred to the songs themselves as rituals. I shit you not.
Maynard's harmonies at the end really push this song over the edge for me. Like so many have said, it just keeps getting better from here. There's a reason why it's one of the finest rock albums ever made! Spot-on reaction, Skullz! Keep spiraling!
The song from Maynard’s pov might be about his mother but like you said about the double meanings there actually three meanings of this song the first would be his mother the second would be his own experiences and then there’s the listener whatever your going through in life just remember your still here right now and hint: a song on this album not gonna spoil it by saying which is all about that, but you must keep reminding yourself that if there truly were no benefit of living and going on in life you already would’ve walked away from it by now but the duality of that is I still may BUT there’s still hope and you have to wait it out I love this band so much
Dan mentioned this in the comments below. This is about Maynard being frustrated because Tool was being sued at the time and he just wanted to get back to making music but Tool wasn’t allowed to until everything was resolved. He did APC in the mean time which caused a lot of stress between him and his Tool band mates…they thought he was a goner and wasn’t coming back
Man you're sharp as a tack and gifted when it comes to breaking down lyrics. Great catch on Undertow too...I mean what "reactor" does that? Only one who's invested and that's why you're the best. ✌️
Aw yea... The Patient. Strap in buds. Oh, if you want serious Adam Jones. Jump forward to 7empest off of Fear Inoculum. They won the Grammer for that song for best metal performance. In an interview Danny said Adam came in to record his solo part & killed it in 1 take. Unreal.
Really loving your Tool reactions. Super impressed with your ability to appreciate these songs so much on your first listen. This song is so powerful/beautiful/personal/deep. This is one of the greatest rock albums of all time.
This album is absolutely amazing. Probably my all time favorite album from Tool and favorite album from any band ever. There’s no one like Tool and never will be. They’re like the Michael Jordan of the music world.
Dude, you put most reactors on misery.. lol. I'm following you along, watched all Tool vids and it's amazing to see someone experiencing these for the first time and having these amount of good insights in the first listening. The more you listen, the more you notice little details.. AND the more you like it. Tool is like a drug. You reach a point you can't get enough of it... Oh and this is my favorite album!! I'm waiting out to see your thoughts on the next ones. Brace yourself.
Best collection of work here. Excellent analysis! Thanks for your reaction mate, hope you loving this album. Second fav album ever for me If no-one has told you already you have to do Parabol and Parabola together. You've probably only been told a thousand times lol
Ultimately this is a song from his mother's perspective. It's a questioning of faith. The double meaning of patient is genius. It's essentially "Judith" from his mum's (sorry mom to you guys in the states) side. She feels tested by god and is looking for a reason as she feels burdensome (vampire act is getting old). The beauty of this song is that it can be applied so readily to other things. As someone who has suffered from depression it's words ring quite true to me in that life can feel like its testing you more unfairly and unnecessarily than someone else. But here you are anyway. Giving blood and keeping faith that there is a light. You just have to be patient and find it
Your unabashed authenticity comes through clearly. It’s really nice to see others experiencing a deep emotional reaction to the music, even more so when integrating Maynard’s literate lyrics. 👍
In regard to the plucking sound, something interesting about Adam is that he did creature effects and visual arts in Hollywood films before Tool happened. The way he plays guitar sounds like he is applying textures in a visual way and plucking is one style he uses. I could just be reading into it, but I had this thought before I knew of his history in film.
I agree with what you said about Adam starting to show a bit more on this album. Wait til you get to Fear Inoculum... he really gets to shine on that album.
"This tedious path I've chosen here" Maynard mentions more than once in this album the *Choice* of being alive. In fact he mentions the importance of choosing and choice often. "This tedious path I've chosen here..." - The Patient "Choose to... let this go" - The Grudge "Choosing to be here in... This body, this body holding me" - Parabola I think he and Adam have some metaphysical beliefs. Regardless, Maynard wants us to know that the most important thing you can do to affect your own direction is to make a choice.
These are my thoughts as well. Nothing about his mom, unless he means the choice of carrying along with life’s challenges, daily, taking the high road of choosing to fight.
Interesting watching the react vids. I've spent countless hours with their music. Nice hearing and seeing other comments about the band. Enjoy the ride and spiral out
This is the most overlooked "Maynard's Mom" song. Everyone always lists Jimmy, 10,000/Wings for Marie & Judith (APC) but somehow The Patient gets missed. 🤷♂️
@@ocat1979 no I'm not going to. If you can't figure it out that's on you. I'm willing to say what you proposed is reasonable in terms of being patient. They do have a grueling process. But it's wrong. Google the lyrics.

Great summary of your interpretation of The Patient. I enjoyed listening to your ideas. He thinks in images and transfers his imagery into genius abstraction, beyond definition. X

I'm not sure about this but I'm pretty sure that this is the first song where Justin Chancellor uses a WahWah. When you listen to Fear Inocullum and 10 000 days Justin's tone stands out so much and this song is the first sign of experimentation and growth for him.
I tripped across your channel because I get wrapped up in TOOL reactions. To me they are just amazing been a fan since the begining from the first time I heard Sober on the radio. Watching these vids is like getting to hear the songs for the first time vicariously through you, and your reactions/analysis is so smart. Keep it up until the sad day you get to their last song.

Tool has had three producers over there career opiate and undertow have the same producer same with Ænima and lateralus and then 10,000 day and fear Inoculum
Dude, Imma start by saying I LOVE your Tool reactions! And I never do this, but being an “OGT” fan (lol 🙄), I gotta give some perspective about what was going on with the lyrics of this song. Just my two cents… Not every song is about MJK’s mom! 🙃 At the time of the writing of this album, the band was really starting to take their time. Remember, the band writes all the music, then MJK comes in and adds lyrics on top. IT WASN’T ALWAYS THAT WAY. In the previous 3 albums, MJK was in the room with them when they wrote, but by this point he’d moved from LA to Arizona. At this point the band would send him demos, he’d start writing to them only to find they’d changed shit up by the time he’d show up to rehearse. This MAD frustrated him, and was teaching him to be…? Another aspect to remember is this was after the 1st APC album. While MJK was growing restless waiting for the band to finish writing, he got on board with Billy Howerdel & APC. This MAD pissed Adam off as he got jealous of MJK moonlighting with another band, and actually caused a huge rift between the two. “If there were no reward for me…” Lastly, again the band had taken longer to come out with this album and the fans were getting restless. So also, another potential reminder for them to be…? Again, just my observations after obsessing over the how & why’s over the years, and inferring what I can from all the interviews. Hope this helps to put things in perhaps a different perspective. CHEERS!
I was in highschool when this came out. My Tool friends hated this album when it came out. It wasn't the brashness they were used to. I loved it. The depth of it is intoxicating. The messaging was eye opening. Dealing with trauma as a child and trying to grow and mature through it, learning to cope with it and heal myself... separating my hurt from everything else so I can deal with it without it bleeding into other parts of my life. This albums messaging is profound and an interesting off ramp for the anxiety ridden 90s youth who couldn't find answers beyond their initial deliverance of Nirvana and other angsty music of the time.
This album only gets better and better with each song... I hope you enjoy your journey! *also make sure to look into Alex Grey - the artist for this album and the tour as well.
2 highlights for me on this one: The subtle rise in the mix when the band initially hits full volume The overlapping vocal lines near the end I forgot how much I love this track
You starting to to see the key phases, his mother was taking a toll on him im leaving her behind, They were breaking big, aint no turning back,Danny was not having it , they had the money to give what she needed and whenever, touring all countries can be tiring and not much time in between, i believe he became great though his mother didnt think highly of it😎👁

I felt this comment! 💯
As always thanks for YOUR sincerity and the opportunity to enjoy this music with fresh eyes!🙏
Edit: To clarify, I'm not saying he is selfish in his lyrics that everything is about him.
Much love man! Appreciate your comment 💯
Dayumm....well said!
I heard somewhere that Ticks and Leeches was written to the record label when they wanted Tool to sound more like Slipknot, telling the record execs to suck it
Could be wrong tho, but that's a funny story so I'm keeping it as headcanon
Get ready!! You just scratched the surface.
10000 days is gonna leave you heartbroken…the rabbit hole goes deep my friend, enjoy!
This is one of my all time favorites, although not necessarily the most popular. I've gotten the opportunity to see this song twice live.... just magic. Let's GOOOOOO 😁😁
Yes this is rapidly becoming one of my favs by them 💯
This song hold a special place in my heart.
Thanks bro!
Wishing you strength and healing, hang in there beautiful human!
God bless you my friend! Keep fighting the good fight! ❤️🙏💪
I hope you beat it man! Take care and good luck.
Love your lyrical breakdowns, my man. Great perspective, not to mention the great taste in music :)
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying them! 🤘
Give ‘em hell Skullz!!!!!
🤘
The thing about this album is that every damn song has SO MANY signature moments - drum parts, bass hooks, guitar lines, vocal/lyric elements - every song is absolutely nuts and this is probably the most underrated of all of them.
Yeah this song is rapidly becoming one of my favorites! 💯
@@Skullzrapper You'll say that for a few more songs 😄
Dude...there are still two albums after this that just get more and more epic. 5 years after this they did 10,000 Days and 12 years after that was Fear Inoculum. They really spread out the art..and I think that's what makes it perfection. Love your videos bro!
Much love! 🤘
Wow, you really understand Tools music. Love to see intellectual artists from other genres discover a band I’ve appreciated most of my life!
Appreciate it! Reacting to them week to week has been a highlight on the channel for me haha 🤘
About life and music 💯
But I'm glad I could help you get more out of the songs! They are truly special works out art! I do my best and it makes me happy to see it being appreciated 🙏
Whenever someone asks me what Im listening to, when its Tool most of the time, I hook them with this song. 9 out of ten times I see their eyes leak a little, and they become riders on the Tool train.
Yeah it's really an amazing song! This album is therapeutic and healing so far 💯
@@Skullzrapper The fact that this is technically only the 3rd song on Lateralus means you are only on the cart going up the first incline. Haha. And then there is Fear Inoculum.
Ahh, the power of cheese! I mean... Brilliantly composed music!
Basically, if the rumor is to be believed, they want you to use their music for healing.
For real, this is easily a top 5 Tool track for me so far! 💯
These are the highlights of my week, thanks bud. 👍
Glad I could give you something to look forward to bro! Hope you're doing well 🤘
Maynard has and still brings me to tears often, not only from the meaning of what he's singing about but also from just the sheer beauty of his vocals.
It's still a bad ass song and I'm actually glad that all went down to force it in a way
Yes. These three were originally going to be called Resolution.
Not that I like to see someone crying but tool is showing you have a soul! Thank you for taking this journey.
Much love bro 🤘
Skullz, it can maintain. Every track. This is the greatest album front to back ever written.
You can throw your plans to not cry out the window. Wings is coming.
A true standout on this masterpiece album!
Evilly rubbing my hands together in anticipation of the Lateralus and parabol/parabola reactions.
3:55 The exact moment Skullz realizes, "yep, the quality continues"
This was my favorite song for quite a while, just... so good
One of 3 of my favorite reactors. Really enjoying watching people spiraling out
Aye much love 🤘
Oh man just wait Adam continues to step out front the further you go!! Love watching you go through these, feels like I'm going back through for the first time again.
Don`t meet your heroes, you`ll only be disappointed. Great music and that can`t be denied.
I enjoy you skullz and seeing your first times reacts with TOOL ! when you don’t know whether to laugh cry be sad be happy to that’s the part I enjoy so much 😊 so amazing there is no bad songs the instrumentals are magical 🎶
I’m here for it 🎶😉 the articulate way you speak your appreciation for Maynard’s lyrical masterpieces makes me smile every time thanks 😊 see you next week 🤘🏽tool4life 🌀💜
Much love Christina! Appreciate you! ❤️
Also my fave album of all time ;)
Here‘s some spooky food for thought regarding "more than just a song;" there are photos of the band engaged in ritual magic together, around the time Lateralus was made, and Danny has referred to the songs themselves as rituals. I shit you not.
@@HunkyTalkenMonkey01 I don't give a shit about any of that.
@@mistagogious The last thing I said, or everything?
Maynard's harmonies at the end really push this song over the edge for me. Like so many have said, it just keeps getting better from here. There's a reason why it's one of the finest rock albums ever made! Spot-on reaction, Skullz! Keep spiraling!
Tidbit time: Eon Blue Apocalypse was written by Adam in memorial of one of his dogs who passed away.
The song from Maynard’s pov might be about his mother but like you said about the double meanings there actually three meanings of this song the first would be his mother the second would be his own experiences and then there’s the listener whatever your going through in life just remember your still here right now and hint: a song on this album not gonna spoil it by saying which is all about that, but you must keep reminding yourself that if there truly were no benefit of living and going on in life you already would’ve walked away from it by now but the duality of that is I still may BUT there’s still hope and you have to wait it out I love this band so much
That was incredible. Thank u Skullz!
You're welcome my friend 🤘
Dan mentioned this in the comments below. This is about Maynard being frustrated because Tool was being sued at the time and he just wanted to get back to making music but Tool wasn’t allowed to until everything was resolved. He did APC in the mean time which caused a lot of stress between him and his Tool band mates…they thought he was a goner and wasn’t coming back
Man you're sharp as a tack and gifted when it comes to breaking down lyrics. Great catch on Undertow too...I mean what "reactor" does that? Only one who's invested and that's why you're the best. ✌️
Much love! I really appreciate that! 🔥🔥🔥
That climax is INCREDIBLE!!! Brings a tear to my eye every time!!
Thanks for this brother!
Glad you're enjoying them! 🤘
On of there most underrated songs.
Tool Tuesday, favorite day of the week! Now we have to be patient until next week:) Lovin the journey Skullz…
Appreciate you bro! See you for Schism! 🤘
Also heard the song is about maynard's mother's prospective.
Best collection of work here. Excellent analysis! Thanks for your reaction mate, hope you loving this album. Second fav album ever for me
If no-one has told you already you have to do Parabol and Parabola together.
Very possible! 🤘
That's a awesome thought. Also Adam I forgot what you call it when he hears music he sees colors, helps him in his creative process
Lesson #2 - Be patient. Keep reminding yourself of this. (Schism is pure poetry - excited for next week.)
Thank you so much for the work. I enjoy every reaction about TOOL you have made so far and I am happy about your "awakening" to the Tool Army.
Me too! Tool and the army has become a blessing in my life! 🤘 Appreciate the love!
great react!
those 2 spots on the wall ALWAYS makes me think something on my screen haha...
keep up good work!
"This tedious path I've chosen here..." - The Patient
"Choose to... let this go" - The Grudge
"Choosing to be here in... This body, this body holding me" - Parabola
I think he and Adam have some metaphysical beliefs.
Enjoy the ride and spiral out
Another great reaction! I’m loving watching your journey! 😁
its crazy, i swear theres two type of people. people who listen to music and people who feel music. we know what kind you are
15:40-16:00...just touches my soul each time I hear it. 🌀
This is the most overlooked "Maynard's Mom" song. Everyone always lists Jimmy, 10,000/Wings for Marie & Judith (APC) but somehow The Patient gets missed. 🤷♂️
Not about his mom 🤦♂️ It’s about the band itself, and how they create their music
@@ocat1979 nice interpretation but you're wrong
@@LanceThompsonKssooner ok, explain how in any way this is related to Maynard’s mom?
@@ocat1979 no I'm not going to. If you can't figure it out that's on you. I'm willing to say what you proposed is reasonable in terms of being patient. They do have a grueling process. But it's wrong. Google the lyrics.
@@LanceThompsonKssooner mate I’ve been listening to the song for 20 years. Everyone latches on to the one time he says “paralyzed” and goes ohhh ohhh it’s gotta be about his mom coz she was paralyzed tooooo!!
Another great job!
Really enjoying your Tool reactions! I can't wait for the next.. Peace from WA
Beautiful breakdown man- I think we may be witnessing you become a TOOL head in some caliber. It’s amazing watching someone experience and grow to love it. Good shizz my dude. I can’t wait for you to dive deeper in the rabbit hole . 🌀 Spiral Out my friend. 🤙🏻
Oh they're easily in my top 5 bands ever now 💯 I've always been interested in philosophy and pyschology so I knew early on I was gonna love them with how they approach songs 🤘
Great summary of your interpretation of The Patient. I enjoyed listening to your ideas. For me, MJK’s vocal and lyrical contributions to this song, speak volumes about his depth of feeling and profound sense of humanity . He thinks in images and transfers his imagery into genius abstraction, beyond definition. X
Ahh man! You just hit the tip of the iceberg with Lateralus! I’m excited just knowing what’s ahead for you. Just a heads up when you get to Disposition, Reflection, and Triad (The Holy Trinity) you really have to do them all at the same time! Lovin what you got so far Skullz!
Don’t worry, Tool songs make us all cry.
Yeah they got me once before 😏
I’m smiling watching Skullz “witness the beauty”! It’s only getting better my man!
🤘
Thrilled to see you on this journey. Excellent format for reviewing this band. I’m here for the ride..

Appreciate it! 🤘
I'm enjoying your journey through Tool's dimension so much and I can't wait for you to keep going but I guess I'll have to... be patient.
Tool has had three producers over there career opiate and undertow have the same producer same with Ænima and lateralus and then 10,000 day and fear Inoculum
Here for it!
🤘
Dude, Imma start by saying I LOVE your Tool reactions! And I never do this, but being an “OGT” fan (lol 🙄), I gotta give some perspective about what was going on with the lyrics of this song. Just my two cents…
Not every song is about MJK’s mom! 🙃
At the time of the writing of this album, the band was really starting to take their time.
“If there were no reward for me…”
Lastly, again the band had taken longer to come out with this album and the fans were getting restless.
This album has saved a lot of lives
I think most of us figured that 10,000 days would pale in comparison to this album… we were wrong!
So happy everytime I see someone say this 🤘
2 highlights for me on this one:
The subtle rise in the mix when the band initially hits full volume
The overlapping vocal lines near the end
I forgot how much I love this track
It's SOOOO GOOD! 🤘
You starting to to see the key phases, his mother was taking a toll on him im leaving her behind, They were breaking big, aint no turning back,Danny was not having it , they had the money to give what she needed and whenever, touring all countries can be tiring and not much time in between, i believe he became great though his mother didnt think highly of it😎👁
Disposition
Reflection
Triad
Must be done as One
The album just gets more incredible from here! Truly a masterpiece. Can't wait to see your reactions.
Another amazing review Skullz! I’m a long time Tool fan and have really enjoyed your journey starting with Undertow.
Appreciate it my friend 🤘
This album is just full of awesome songs. From start to finish. Enjoy
🤘
I have always seen this as a song being about a personal inward struggle. Man vs Himself.
I could see that too! I think "supposed lovers" is the thing that makes me think it's about a relationship. But with words like "atrophy," it implies that too 💯
You're reactions are awesome... they feel so considered. It speaks to the way I have always listened to TOOL on a musical level but with the added lyrical and historical context that I couldn't access at 15 when it came out. Makes me feel like I'm hearing it for the first time again. Can't wait for the next one man 🤘🔥❤️🔥
