This is hilarious. My high school science teacher actually reminds me of Maynard so much. Great dude. One of the few teachers that felt real to me and who showed personality, which made me pay attention to what he had to say despite not really feeling for the subject matter at all.
I can picture him wearing a white button up shirt with a tie, holding a clipboard as he walks around checking out his students.

I'm 36 years old. My uncles were in a band in the 80's and 90's and they played tool so I've been listening to tool damn near my whole life. The fact that all these amazing artist came to form 1 band is absolutely incredible. And Maynard's intelligence is very inspiring and gives me a little hope in humanity

Wow. First time hearing Maynard in an interview. What a nice, down to earth, talented and intelligent guy.
I just barely watched/listened to the Maynard episode that came out two days ago and thought the exact same thing. My friends and I listened to Opiate and Undertow over and over and over again throughout high school --- '93, '94, '95 --- and to see him act so casual and silly, but still remarkably intelligent and on point, was amazing.

Even now when things are stressful and my mind is racing, I can play some Tool, A Perfect Circle or Pucifer and it will put me in a calm place and help me through whatever tough time I'm experiencing. I feel the need to say Thank you, to you and your musical brothers and sisters for sharing your genius with the world.

Minimal User I like all of it. I think their latter stuff is better for my taste. This new album is definitely different. Way more mellow, but the instruments are superb. Pneuma and Descending are fantastic songs. I’ve had this album on repeat for a month.

Appreciate the sentiment. I'm glad they talked like 5-10% about MJK's bands, and the rest was martial arts, pain remedies, culinary stuff, hunting, boars. It's a perfect JRE podcast. MJK, Bill Burr & Henry Rollins are my top guests to enjoy listening to. When Tool fans complain about waiting 13 years for new music, they forget the band members got other shit too. MJK is a renaissance man, he's got his 20 fingers in every pie imaginable. We should just be happy MJK & his banda make music at all. Just be happy & enjoy life if possible.

I just retired from 20 years in the Army and trying to find my way with a new career. Thanks for the ideas and me and the wife thank you for some new wines to try! I just moved to a place and really looking to be part of the community and even someday open small side business. Maynard is right, being a part of something like a community is great thing.
