100 percent correct when i was at home depot, i worked there to pay some bills then went on to trade school for electrical one of the guys there, left a month before me to go into surgicial tech training program with job placement it was a program sponsored by the city. Most folks at these warehouse jobs only stay for 6 months to a year and a half at most then leave for a better situation.

I don't think people should be putting blame to the company managers or the CEO's for being as miserable as they are in places like this. These jobs are the only types that happen to be available for people who either dropped out of high school or never got a college degree. If it's not where you want to be for the rest of your life, then the best advice I give to anyone is to simply just go for an associates degree at a community college, and you'll have much more golden opportunities on the table and an actual career path. Companies like Amazon actually will foot your college tuition if you inquire about it. Otherwise nobody is a prisoner at these places. You are with the same free will to walk out the same door you walk into every day...

Bro I felt this fr. I got tired of wasting my life inside a depressing warehouse working 10 hr shifts for 500 a week living in the trenches in a big city. I decided to just try school again at a HBCU this time studying MIS and preparing for this cyber security internship this May. You could look into some cheap community colleges if you wanna try the college route and once you finish that you could do a cheap online university like WGU that’s completely legit and they offer great 4 year degrees. If not the college route then either the trades or military but regardless of what option you choose, you gotta make them sacrifices and grind working on your mind. I told myself if I could work a 10 hr shift at a warehouse then there should be no reason why I can’t study for 10 hrs and so on. I just can’t go out like that living my life and dying as a low end warehouse worker.

Honestly it’s all based on different perspective and how strong you really are mentally and physically, I work at a wear-house as well, why lie I had my down moments but in the words of nippsey hussle “everything you do, comes with the process, life isn’t a sprint it’s a Marathon” that quote was the main thing that motivated me to give it my all, now after working at the same Wearhouse for about 2 years, they gave me a week off to go home but in the middle of the week, they called me to come to the main office, and for once it all paid off, all the times throughout the 2 yrs of giving it my all, making friends with managers, coming in with at least a smile on my face, and always asking for overtime even if I didn’t want it I still asked, the branch director manager asked me “do u like your position? “ and ofc I lied and said “yes” and then he said “that’s good but your gonna have to say goodbye to that position because we’ve been thinking of promoting you “ when those words came out of his mouth I said “ofc I’ll take the position no matter what it is, no matter if I have to learn, or read books on my position…I’ll do it” and they liked that energy, so fast forward to now they sense promoted me to lead, contractor/sight manager/technician the technician part they gave me because I learned how to fix a machine without any sort of experience, just by reading books, and practicing, so now I’m able to fix the machines that get stuck or stop working in the Wearhouse, sight manager is I basically go around telling ppl what to do and making sure ppl are doing their jobs, ofc I’m the laid back manager type so ppl don’t hate me lmao, and the contractor role is my main part of the night, I have to look at shipping contracts, to make sure everything is good on the paper work, make sure it comes from the right companies, and to make sure the contracts aren’t late or delayed after I check all of the proper needed info I put them in a folder and head to another office to give them the authorized contracts and by the time I get back to my desk there is more contracts lol but I like it, especially the pay because I am happy to fucking say I get paid $135 an hour and I work Tuesday-Friday 3pm - 1am and I have Saturday ,Sunday, and Monday off, you might think I’m way more busy now with all my titles, but nope, it’s a pretty chill job, and I like it, ofc I’m not going to be doing this for my whole life but it’s definitely helping to fund my dream goals 🤙💯 I get paid basically every week and I make 5,200, technically I’m supposed to be getting paid like 5,500 but yeah taxes lmao, I’m only 22 I got some big things I want to accomplish in this life and things I want to have and do, stay focused and never put yourself down bro you got this💯

Yup. I took over at my warehouse job in no time. Everyone seemed so stuck to a routine. I came in that bitch biting and creating solutions to problems nobody cares to fix. I created a system that helped out biggest $ maker reach numbers they could only dream of. The rate was 800 officially but they were so pathetic before I got there that the rate was dropped to 500 so their 200-300 wasn't as embarrassing. This is beyond slaving people this was about mediocre systems everyone was living by because once again nobody gave a shit to fix them. I offered solutions and started getting promoted. They started hitting 600+ daily and the company started rewarding me with weekly bonuses. I was given the opportunity to leave early, not work Saturdays, my schedule was constantly rearranged as far as hours go so that the system would automatically assume I worked all my hours I was scheduled for and id get my attendance bonus. My checks were fat AF and the envy started coming in but I paid no mind. I'm doing something different and better now but we have a saying in Spanish that translates to "the parrot is green no matter where he stands" rough translation but it means that if someone got what it takes in one place that person can shine as good anywhere else. I've never doubted myself and the difference between unmotivated people and those who are hungry and workaholics is obvious to the $$$ . $ can smell a hustler.

I won't even do a warehouse job no more half the time its the toxic workers that you deal with. When you are in a work environment with many ppl for many hours problems can happen. It gave me depression and anxiety cause of it the good thing is I do have different side hustles however. I am not at the income I need to be yet and other side-hustles I have to wait until they come out. I also have family members that pressure me so I will have to find a job for now. I am going to try to find a job with very little or no ppl around I cant do jobs with many ppl around.

So much bantering in the comment section from people that chose warehouse jobs. The only advice I really have is GO TO COLLEGE. Go to college, and you'll avoid being scammed into being legalized slave labor for the rest of your life. These brain-dead roles are for those who only have very basic job skills and no greater ambitions in life. Or ex-cons that did time in prison and are attempting to get back into the workforce. I chose to further my education after high school. Got my degree in science, and now I'm a full-time laboratory research specialist that sees more money in one day by preforming phlebotomy and conducting potentially life-saving case studies on animals, compared to what anyone in a warehouse earns in a single week moving boxes from one end of a building to another. So, it's pretty obvious what the greater decisions in life are when it comes to a job vs. an actual career. McDonald's isn't a career no matter how much they try to trick people into thinking it is, and neither is Amazon (unless you're the franchise owner or CEO of either). If you're a high school dropout that can barely read and write, then companies like this and many others don't need to give a rats ass about valuing you as an employee. And believe me when I say: (they don't).
How much you get out of life depends on how much effort you put into it. So don't be lazy. Don't be a fuck-up. (Stay. In. School).

@@Lincolnator721 it certainly doesn't lie to you. I think a career as a game developer would be a great fit for you. You might have been dealt a few crummy cards. But now you can turn them into gold. If you become a gaming developer, do me a favor and kick Niantic in the butt and tell them to get back to investing in the game! I know it's not a super competitive game. But Pokemon go could have gone such a farther. I really think they should incorporate the strategy of battling wild Pokemon just like in the actual TV series, instead of just throwing a ball at them. Or you maybe you could be the one to invent a game similar to Pokemon but with "Digimon" instead! You know how bad the world is waiting for that? I would say start getting the ball rolling on your career path as soon as possible. Because the sooner you begin, the quicker you're going to get there.

That is definitely the pure truth. You can't just graduate out of high school and expect to have a top-notch career in anything. The only jobs available after high school to anybody are mainly in warehouses or Manufacturing firms. The only way to make a very decent living without a college degree, is if you end up in a municipal career. And even to become a police officer or a firefighter or first responder, you have to have some sort of schooling or certification. The same can be said of anybody that wants to become a truck driver. It's a shorter amount of time then college would be. But if you don't get certified in anything, then you're basically doomed to pushing boxes around a giant Warehouse or working on a loading dock the rest of your life.

Now that I work with true professionals I value it because the misery component of the team isn't a real factor. When I got laid off I felt my conscience telling me it's God's will for my trajectory. Those transitional struggle glove types of people are a bigger influence than you realize. Heck... I still miss that job but yeah, I didn't miss the constant influence from being around people I worked with who just seemed a little more lost than some higher tier professionals present.

God bless you man. 💜 Today I came to the immediate acceptance that I am absolutely DEPRESSED because of this job. I came to this realization when I got up walked around my house and said,
"That car accident should of killed me, why didn't it kill me? WHY THE FU CK AREN'T I DEAD???"
I work at a warehouse myself and it's emotionally and SPIRITUALLY draining. Especially after you got fired from a better paying and more respectable job under bullshit pretenses because a kissass favorite decided to go to you and start shit with you when you were trying to do your work.
I honestly feel like that cartoon character stereotype, you know, the "STRAIGHT MAN" layman's terms the show's *SCAPEGOAT* AKA the character that gets shit on and immediately punished if they're in the wrong, but when someone wrongs them or there's injustice to them like what happened to me a few days ago with a cuntty line leader stepping out of her line walking around monitoring the line I'm on and picking on a clearly autistic/down syndrome man I was conversing with and giving me shit...
NO ONE said anything about this unpleasant disgusting bittch. No one spoke up, no one came forward to back me up, no one reprimanded this bittch in fact, the behavior was EXCUSED.
I couldn't stay quiet. After a few minutes of this happening, I reported this
cu ntt. This shit was eating me up inside.
The c uck who was the head supervisor EXCUSED this disgusting creature's despicable accounts of bullying. I asked not to ever be placed on her line.
Then I indirectly and basically in the nicest way told him to go fu ck himself when he said that if I was placed on this gross line leaders line and if I refused to work that line, I'd be terminated. My response? *"SO BE IT. Adding, "This isn't the only job."*
Tl;dr My main issue when it comes to ANY JOB: MY. BIG. MOUTH.
Latina through and through. Feisty as all HELL. After you've grown up being meek and humble and sweet and got walked all over your entire life as I have, that shit goes out the window when you hit a certain age and you get fed up with cun tts doing this shit to you. You immediately get vexed whenever you hear a some dumbcun tt refer to you as "too sensitive.."
Warehouse work places are the lowest of the low...They'll so readily hire you then so readily fire you, a HARD WORKER before they fire a reprehensible company worker such as a nosey obnoxious ABUSIVE LOWLY line leader who oversteps their boundaries to start shit with you and other people.
I'm guessing I need to from now on stay away from that autistic/down syndrome guy. Because apparently that depicable human being loved to pick on that dude and anyone who would stand up for him.
I'm in tears writing this. I want to get out and do something else. Especially due to what transpired Thursday. I do despise this job. I feel like they might fire me/on the way to being terminated. I missed work two days because of fear of dealing with this bullshit or worse. A lot of us just settle for these shitty jobs and after awhile give up putting in applications because it feels worthless and a waste of time.
People like you and me (whoever took the time to read this) We tend to talk a lot about our passions and how we want our passions to be our source of income and how we want to be our OWN BOSS, but for some reason we then get highly discouraged and never pursue them...

I agree you need to always be working to bettering yourself and your situation. For me and many others the warehouse is the means of which I do that. Yeah I started out at 450 a week for hard work. But now I'm up to 1000 per week. It's what you make of it. I make more, I invest more in myself and work towards getting to a better place. You'll never get anywhere blaming your circumstances for your state of mind. Your job didn't make you depressed, you did. The sooner you realize that you're personal state of mind is the only thing you really have control of. The better off you will be. Don't give that control up to the world. I too used to struggle with depression. Blaming others for how I felt never taking responsibility for my own emotions. When I wanted to die, God said go ahead and gave me a way. If I couldn't appreciate the life I was given, then I didn't deserve it. God gave me a second chance to take responsibility for myself and to appreciate the hardships in this world. The struggle and the terrible things in this world make me stronger every day, and I am grateful for that.

i've worked warehouse and manufacturing for 7 years. pay at most places is at least decent, HOWEVER, pay to work load ratio? absolute dog shit. every factory and every warehouse you ever work at will over work you and under pay you for the amount of work you do. 15 bucks an hour sound nice? it kind of is until you realize you gonna have to work 70-80 hour weeks in order to keep that 15 dollar an hour job. they will slave you away until you die.
i will reiterate: as a long term warehouse and manufacturing jobs, FUCK WAREHOUSE AND MANUFACTURING JOBS. obviously there will be some exceptions, but uhh, check glassdoor reviews. indeed reviews. etc. and sort by recent. if you see a lot of reviews mentioning "overtime" "long hours" "bad management" etc STAY THE FUCK AWAY AT ALL COSTS. it is not fucking worth it to slave your life away to a company that don't give a shit about you and your health and well being for a paycheck.
