No cap I was moving non stop. I’m fit too and move fast that’s how fast them belts moved. I Worked by the corner so I had 3 trucks and whatever I couldn’t pick up in time it just piled up and it does every damn day which pissed me tf off lol. I had my water bottle on me and even I had no time to sip sometimes. Plus the drivers when they come they always never like how u put stuff in there and end up rearranging the whole shit while u help them.
I quit after a week. Not only did they cut my hours, take me out of my preloader position and then put me in the unloader position, but then the unloader supervisor started to catch an attitude with me. She screamed " WORK DOMINIC OR I'LL SEND YOU HOME AGAIN. " big mistake. 20 min later I decided to mouth off to her right to her face and she told me to leave and not come back. That's when I told her "Sure I'm leaving, but now your shift is a little harder." I don't tolerate disrespect from ANYONE. I'll cuss you out right to your face, man or woman.
I have been at ups for almost 7 months. I work the night shift and as a process server during the day. About 3 weeks into ups, one of the leads was in my trailer screaming "your walls look like shit! And I'm gonna send you home" I usually let it go because I guess that's how he motivates people. Then he starts making fun of me for what I do for a living outside of UPS. I lost it. "You are not fucking royalty! Your a part time supervisor at ups that lives at home and drives a car that leaks more oil than it hold. Don't talk down to me" He told me to go outside and get some air. I came back, gave a brief apology and went back to work. He said that he didn't expect me to yell at him. Now, earlier this week that same supervisor came into my trailer bitching about how he doesn't think my partner and I are moving fast enough. He said he was gonna send us home and load the trailer himself. I yelled that he wasn't gonna send me fucking home! He then left in disgust. The guy I was working with is a new hire and asked why all supervisors have attitudes. I told him that's how it goes. Now peak season is here. I just hope I can make it to become a driver.

I currently work for ups (im literally sitting in a brown truck loading rn lol) this job is not for the faint heart or lazy people… I hate this job so much but if you have good motivation and fight through it it’s a great company to work for, best insurance etc etc. im expected to make $165,000 by the age of 22 because I started at the bottom at the age 18. Ups is seniority based, all the complaints in this video are simply because he was at the bottom of the food chain, the ladder situation is common sense as well, we are union based so they don’t mess around with safety. This job is not for everyone but if you wanna make bank start rn!

I started 3 weeks ago as a loader/unloader. I hated it tbh but I never showed it, I always kept a chill vibe with everyone and noticed they noticed that too. So long story short, I told them about my experience in pharmaceutical machine operating and they moved me to a higher position where it's more technical and less physical. Pay went up a little and now I'm starting to like it.
I quit a day before passing probation. Came to get my check and the manager asked if a wanted to try small sort (5lbs or less) I was like hell yeah. Went to small sort, then to sort school to learn zip codes. This was before all of the technology stuff. Started at 8.00 over two year got 2.00 more 10.00 once I passed sort school it went to 12.00. I became the fastest Primary small sorter at 360 packages sorted every 5 mins. So on top of the 12.00 my bonus could be (depending on the volume) 15-20.00 extra per hour. It’s not a bad place to be because I knew dudes that stayed now making a six figure salary with no college degree although back in the day UPS paid for college if you became a supervisor.
Very similar experience for me as well. I worked the evening shift (5pm-9pm) and was a Loader too. Sounds crazy for UPS, but this was honestly one of the most physically-demanding jobs I've ever done. I had to constantly sprint back and forth from the conveyor belt to this 75ft semi-truck trailer, which was literally 110 degrees plus. All of my coworkers said the turnover for the job was about a week. I was also told it was a part-time position, but it ended up being seasonal and that if they liked you, you could come back the next season. I ended up working an entire summer while in college, came back that Christmas and was a driver helper, then again that following summer. I was told that since I had stuck with it and was a good worker, that the following Summer I would have a less physically-demanding role once returning. Unfortunately, that was not the case and I ended up quitting. They completely blacklisted me and told me they never promised a better position.
I think I'm blacklisted as well. I did the seasonal loading and it was bs. They put me in an area with all the Mexicans who didn't speak English all because they thought I was like them. So nobody told me what to do because of the language barrier and the person over them who did speak English started calling me slurs in Spanish. I quit but years later tried to get a driving position.

Ups will prove to you that money isn’t everything in life, they blind you with good pay. but if you like me to realize have no free time, terrible sleep schedule, only one 10 minute break. Isn’t worth it.
That 10 minute break does not have to be given to you just so you know when you work part time you do not have to be given any break at all so if I were you I would take that 10 minute break and be lucky you're getting it at all. You are literally complaining about working part time and saying it's too much and you don't have a good sleep schedule you picked the time that you wanted to work bro. Grow the fuck up.
I attended the classes, but they didn't teach me anything, luckily my coach was a boy from Thailand, who was patient with me and constantly corrected me. the job is physical and stressful. sometimes you don't know what to do with many boxes. but with two people it's fine. I hope to adapt.
I quit after like 4 days 😂 I was like hell nah when I was training it was easy and chill cause the other dude was helping me but then after that I was doing 3 trucks by the corner and goddamn all I got was rdl and mdl. I was like bro these boxes are like 50-100 pounds. Got me drenched in sweat. That ten minute break pissed me off too. Felt like 2 mins. Small ass break room. And ya can’t go chill in your cars even tho it’s right there.
What's sad is that a lot of warehouse position is like that. Some people like myself all I knew was warehouse work so I stuck it out and ended up working at warehouse under intense stress and physical lifting. I work at a warehouse and wasted nearly 15 years of my life. Now I refuse to work in a warehouse. Back and knees use to hurt. Always worned out and stressed out. I recommend working in manufacturing if you like warehouse work because of the pay and it's more laid back. I work for lab job now. It's more relaxed even though there's alot of work but it's not labor intensive and stressful
I showed up for my first day of work as a pre loader and just walked out and quit after 2 hours . The supervisor lame ass dude when I was unloading trucks kept telling me to go faster when I was going my max speed , I mean some of these boxes are 70-80 pounds and they expect you to move a box every 3 seconds / 1200 and hour no break. An hour and 30 min into unloading trucks the supervisor fuckhead keeps telling me to go faster and I end up almost passing out then instantly puke all over the back of the trailer , also I was so sweaty i looked like I just ran a marathon in a sauna. Then they made me clean it up then moved me to tape up the broken boxes and when they weren’t looking I just walked out .
Bro I worked there yesterday and I feel like quitting td , It’s literally how you described , I’ve worked at many warehouses and general labour but UPS is straight up inhumane, They wanted me to consistently carry 70 pound boxes 📦 when usually you should carry those now and then, BUT THEY WANT YOU TO CARRY THEM BACK TO BACK FOR HOURS STRAIGHT, it’s not physically possible
Just started at FedEx and it’s the saaaaame damn thing. No training, despite the fact that there were two “trainers” but all they really did was just help when it became overwhelming. Stuck me in an empty trailer alone to load from front to back- without a single example of how to. I know we’ve all moved before and know how to load boxes but this requires some method that everyone knows in the building but no one is sharing. This is a second job for me to pay off some debt- nothing about it seems worth it. Pay may just go to medical bills due to the injuries that will come later.
Up here it is a pain in the ass morning job but after a year you get full medical, dental and vision for your whole family at NO COST. One co-worker had a hart attack that cost 30K and he did not even pay a Co-payment. Now still not enough money to live so you have to do a second job.
broooo on god I started a month ago and i’ve went through the exact same thing , I loaded the whole amazon trailer by myself getting folded, I had to scan and put them in the truck , and I had rollers not the belt. supervisors are horrible , our warehouse is made to process 25000 boxes/day and it’s peak season and we are pushing 70000 boxes/day. they really do take you out the classroom and put you to work clueless. try sorting for 7 hours with one 10 min break and you got 2 people unloading, bro almost harder than football practice 🤣
Lol I got a t shirt only as I k ew someone working at ups that said mesquite peak ain't for the weak and it was a actual ups shirt. That was the day before I quit. I hadn't even looked at the shirt at that point. I was just upset I knew I'd be fired as my car had to go to the auto shop on my bday veterans day then Wednesday 2 weeks back. Good Video Cam. I had a similar situation while working for Fed Ex Ground as Package Handler, I quit the 2nd day. The hub was so unorganized, managers and trainers themselves calling in. They tell you one thing than do another.

Bro! Same situation as me!! This place is a joke. 🤣 Today was my first day as a seasonal driver. They handed me a vest, a phone, my paper manifest and turned their backs on me! I was like “Ummm, can someone show me how to use the phone to navigate the app, show me how to clock in and out, enter my mileage and show me how to do the job?! That shit was so unorganized. Luckily, I had someone that has been there for a few weeks and she was kind enough to guide me through it. If it wasn’t for her help, I was about to walk out and never return. Also, regarding the employee number to log into the phone, I was given a 6 digit number. Management kept telling me I needed a 7 digit number. I pulled up my email to prove to them that I was in fact given a 6 digit number and not a 7 digit number. HR made a mistake. They left off the seventh digit! Total shit show. 💀
I’ve been in for 6 years, if you’re someone who dislikes dealing with customers and enjoys actually working then this is the perfect job. It’s not a job for lazy people, that’s why we make good money, have a union, and have benefits. All while being part time. Not many places offer that

1 physique has nothing to do with your position , you go where you are needed. 2 you don't have to ask to go to the bathroom. 3 supervisors are just like you they just do computer work and are supposed to supervise but kinda just do their thing. This job is really only good for 3rd shift part timers to make a quick paycheck in a pinch. I work midnight and it's always said to be the best shift . This job is very taxing and will test you. Been here for 4 months . I started as an unloader and moved to pick off,both positions have pros and cons.

Having worked a variety of jobs most companies are unorganized. If you don't train me, as long as I'm on the clock,I'm going to take my precious time trying to figure it out.
For me one of the worst things was that everybody that came in for orientation on the 1st day was expected $20 per hour because that's what they advertised on the website when we all filled out our applications. Turn the orientation one person dared to ask the question how much are we getting paid each hour and they came out toward us straight up we're only in paid $50 an hour even though it used to be 20 last August by the way I was working in March of 2021 And they explained that in March of August 2020 they cut the pay back to $15 per hour. All of their advertisements for hiring and jobs and availability with everybody that showed up and there was about 22 people that showed up that day to believe that we were supposed to be getting paid $20 an hour starting the job.
Sad to say my experience at UPS for my first day was EXACTLY the same !! I had to laugh at myself when I realized I was going through the exact same shit you described 😭. Unfortunately I need the money so I’ll be going back, but I’m hoping it gets less chaotic & I meet someone who actually doesn’t mind explaining my job to me in full detail.

Ok yes everything he’s saying is true and it is very disorganized and grueling when you first start working there, but honestly once you get past the first 2-3 weeks, the job isn’t that bad. You get really physically fit and you start to learn strategies that help you throughout as well.
Freaking this! I just started working for ups and this man is 100% accurate. 2 days in and ups is the worst organized company I've ever worked for. They said that the system was down and we might not get paid for 3 weeks. Bad communication and the break room is outside in the cold to give leave less incentive to take breaks......I worked for Amazon and boy can you take a good thing for granted......
I work for ups in at a uk warehouse and it’s a shit show here as well. I’ve been here 8 months only because of the pay. No one taught me anything I had to learn on the job & the supervisors are real arseholes

I started yesterday and didn't even have an orientation they just gave me a supervisor when I arrived and he showed me the numbers in the truck where to put the boxes and wished me good luck. Then today I was given a different task and I was sorting an absurd amount of boxes and it was an absolute disaster I got yelled at for going too slow. I said well maybe somebody should help train me so I can be prepared and know what's going on. Very physical job just about 5 hours nonstop lifting boxes some of which are heavy as hell. I believe they don't take the time to train people because such a high percentage of new employees quit that they believe it's not worth the time and you're either going to figure it out or quit. The work is definitely not worth it for 15$ an hour so today was my last day.
I last 2 days in there. Some old head came up to me on my second day talking about how I wasn’t working fast enough. I almost threw hands with him. I ended up just walking out like 30min into the shift and never went back. Not NO ONE explained anything to me.. how to do anything, where anything is, how I do everything.
This is how it was for me at FedEx lol I get it. I had to find people and ask how to do this or that. I didn’t understand why my scanner did certain things. Had to walk all over the warehouse to ask a question lol it was a nightmare. Eventually I toughed it out and became the PH trainer for our warehouse and I make sure all the new folks know what to do and make them know I’m available for questions, what van line I’m on the whole 9 cause I don’t want people to go thru what I went thru or what you yourself went thru. Hey, you know what...First, I believe everything this dude has said. Briefly, I did 20 years military, 15 years as a police officer, and was looking for a part-time gig. I am in Texas and I will tell you why I believe dude. I applied at UPS. I completed an over-the-phone interview. I was given a conditional job offer, and paperwork to complete a DOT physical. I went the very next day, completed the physical. Of course, I passed. I happened to have made one stop before making it back home, & I got a call from UPS informing me the position I applied for basically disappeared. When I made it home and could devote my time to a focused conversation, I called UPS recruiting. What a merry go round series of phone calls...press option 1 for package handlers, press option 2 for drivers (or vice versa)... Anyhow, the (lack of) answers and conversation changed like the direction of the wind as the phone call progressed. So, before ppl start saying crazy ish. I am a marathon runner...still today. I have held several jobs where I have had FBI backgrounds/polygraphs, etc. No criminal history or crazy reason(s) to fail a background. I have never used any illicit drugs. Anyhow, if I call UPS today. Nobody there has any answers, but they keep sending me a job offer with no driving tests available to schedule or any other directions. I know, you are probably thinking wait, you said package handler. Why you need a driving test? Yes, I did. Believe me, I am just as confused as this may sound. Needless to say, I wasn't even looking for this video. I swear I was on YT for a whole other reason. Bro, thank you. UPS can keep this BS. It is not for me...I can see the un-organization from the outside. I definitely don't want to see and/or experience it from the inside. I will never quit at UPS because I will never start... I quit on my sixth day, walked out mid shift. My supervisor noticed I fled and gazed at me like a deer when I drove out of the lot. Applied back 9 months later to work as a seasonal driver and got turned away because of my no-rehire status.

Thanks for making this video. I was going back and forth for a week about taking a UPS Warehouse Worker job. I didn’t even finish the application, but they started calling me like every other day and sending me emails to help me finish the application. My gut was telling me no, but then they just raised the pay here in Hawaii from $15.50 to $19.93. That was a red flag for me because it showed they must be having a hard time hiring people, and the turnovers gotta be real high. I worked at Pepsi as a Warehouse Truck Loader for a month and that was hell. I thought I’d give UPS a chance thinking they might be different, but I kept seeing red flags everywhere.

Everything he said is spot on i worked in the morning so i would get up at 4am …. I worked over there for a year and during peak season it literally took a huge toll on me mentally and physically. I would come home and sleep until 12-130. one time randomly they cut everybodys pay and didnt tell anybody my boss pretended like he didnt know wat was going on but he knew at the time i needed the money. the environment is trash and super depressing the drivers make alot of money but they pretty much live at the factory there are dudes on the preload who been there 15+ years literally insanity. alot of good people work there but its a low quality environment.
Bro that happened to me and also quit on the second day. I honestly didn't want to but it was getting to the point where it stressed me out and supervisors and managers were not communicating with me. I applied for the early morning shift and get this, I had to drive about a 45-50 min drive because I lived in another city. So for the supervisors or mangers not communicating with me and letting me what time I come in was not it. They do throw you around to test you but most part it's their job to explain to you how to correctly do the job.

I worked for FedEx Ground for 3 years. Very similar job. I only lasted so long because the schedule worked so I could take college classes in the afternoon. I hated every single shift. Always some bs, I usually unloaded the large trailers and then filled the other large trailers for outbound. It’s supposed to be 3 people, 2 unloading and one scanning. The reality? Just me unloading and scanning. They had a tight window to get done. So unloading a 53 ft trailer takes 2 hrs with 2 people. Also, winter was brutal. No heating in the building, and -20 sucks

This job gets to me often. The scanners can be crap. Slides jam, floors get messy. Part time sups get introuble if they touch boxes. Twilight is the busiest sort. Theres no set time of when we are done or when break is. If you show up at the posted time theres a damn stagger and you don't get paid for the first 10 or more minutes. 4 years in and I've done a lot in the hub. Theres room for movement but it takes time unless they really need people in an area. Job pays nice for part time but that 21 an hour isn't like a 21 an hour part time job because you dont get the hours. The time and a half-(anything over 5 hours) is 31.50 in my hub building. You'll probably be loading two shifts in a row. This place really only pays well enough as a full timer or driver. With management theres room for movement but I'm unsure of that area because I've stayed in the union.
Fed ex is a little more organized but it’s the same story. 10 minute break is not enough for how fast for how long you work. I’m gonna quit fed ex a loader is only for experienced people
@@karizmagloria8443 kinda sounds fair but what they gotta remember is that maybe the humans and the workers are on a 10 minute break but that doesn’t mean the packages and boxes are. So once that 10 minutes are up you’re now 10 minutes behind schedule
The people who can’t handle it are always gone within a week. It’s a hard job not just physically but mentally. If you think the disorganization and fight or flight mentality is rough in the warehouse, you wouldn’t last 5 minutes driving a package car. UPS isn’t in the business of teaching. They want folks who can come in and apply themselves, by themselves.

I worked for UPS for 3 or 4 months in 2021 he's 100% right another thing he didn't bring up was the fact that where these locations are you have to drive at least a half hour to get to them no matter where you live it's not worth driving that distance for only three possibly 4 hours a night just for a union to take a large chunk of your paycheck Another thing that messed me up about working there was even the people that trained us in our orientation were basically saying don't work there look for a job as soon as you can
UPS was a total joke, I was clearing out a path, and my “supervisor” screamed at my face as if he wanted to kill me saying “WE HAVE A NEW LOADER GET OUT OF HERE” and I left and that was about my day 😂
During peak season in December, my supervisor was on my ass every 30 seconds and I wanted his to give me space. He then asked me to pick up the pace and I told him to "get fucked". Within 30 seconds the lead was in my face telling me we can't talk like that in the warehouse . I apologized and went back to work but being a loader can get stressful at times. I finally got my benefits and am still with ups. I don't blame people for quitting this place. I think about it weekly.
I'm already gonna quit. Been here for about 6-7 weeks and I gotta tell you the BS you have to put up with is ridiculous. I've lost our on sleep and gas money several times already because they've cut me and make me go home early because the volume was too low and they only keep seniority hires for slow days and NEVER say anything beforehand so that we could be prepared for it.
That’s crazy when I applied they walkthrough the whole wearhouse showing us where to go, what color were the belts and what zip codes the different colors were. Very organized, completely different story on my behalf. I was a sort, no position in UPS is easy. Be aware if you will be a sort, small sort or loader you will be buried in packages. I only lasted a month. Very physical
I’m a supervisor at the Lenexa hub and goddamn I didn’t realize how good we were until I watched this video, we have trainers hip to hip with new hires for a week then after that the part time supervisors are supposed to do hourly checkins with each of their people new or not
I'm at the Independence hub. We work hip to hip with new hires the first week and are expected to spend at least some time in the loads/unloads with new hires every day for their first 30 working days. I'll admit that we do miss some of those visits when SHTF during a shift, but we are working with week 2-6 new hires for at least 3 days a week. Hell, we pass out fruit, popsicles, and Gatorade every day during the summer, too.

The Supervisors who manage everything are cocky and are entitled assholes . Please don’t be a boot licker to them, your human don’t let them rush your role or anything. They’re puppets to management, so if anything doesn’t go right upper management shits on them. New hire’s aren’t told about the contract or about Union stewards, when you complete your probation period. Please do not let any Supervisors bitch you, If they ask you to do something do it in a slow manner. Remember your safety matters and if they harass you tell them “ I’m working as safe as possible.” Working in the Warehouse UPS doesn’t care about your safety, they cut corners to insure everything get done in a timely manner. Next, during your probation period, they monitor and determine if you stay or leave. They’ll work you like a mule! Do not let them rush you seriously! Take your time!! UPS is always looking for warm bodies to make production excellent for their clients! Do not let any Supervisor’s steal your work either! That means they can’t touch boxes. This follows a grievance you can file against them once you complete your probation period. I highly only recommend this job for Peak season, that’s were you make the most overtime/ money. After peak, your hours drop and your paychecks turn into $300-$400 this all depends on the volume and if you get sent home early.

@@brenbeauty That’s considered a “Grievance” it goes against the Union contract. Supervisor’s aren’t allowed to touch packages at all. You can compensate money by filing a grievance, by notifying a Union Steward that’s within your warehouse. Management doesn’t tell any New union member’s this because they don’t like have hire’s know about certain things

@@brenbeauty To keep them from running without Teamster Employees, supervisors and most non-Teamsters can not move or load the packages. If one of my supervisors picks up a box no one cares but if say an employee did not show up they cannot just do his job and say load his truck.
My orientation was at 4am & it was my manager going over the building, hazards, what to do and what not to do & it was only about 15-20 min. There’s like 2-3 managers in every section that will cover you if you need to go to the restroom. & it’s super fast paced but if you are getting alot of packages you stack them on the side and then organize it. Also the people next to you will help you out catching the packages & everyone is super helpful. The shift is only 5 hours with a 5-10 min break. It’s really not that bad lol
@@yxngmigo Aye man thats unfortunate it's honestly my 4th week so I can't speak on if other hubs do the same. I thought 10 min break was required by all hubs as long as you work more than 3 and half hours. I know lunch breaks are not paid for but when we get 10 min breaks its paid for break which is nice.
Omg talk about bringing up nightmares, I worked at the facility in Secaucus nj for 2 yrs after the massive layoffs in 2008 across the USA.i lasted 2 yrs for a misely $11 an hr. My shift started @ 4:45 am -8:45 am until the drivers came in. Bust my ass loaded in 4 trucks every morning till I developed severe carpal tunnel syndrome in Mt right wrist. The pain was so bad It was painful holding a dam bottle of h20. Chasing packages in that carasel going around with the designated truck #. Trust me it was you chasing packages and loading in to the proper truck. But I progressed to an excellent loader with only one missload within one yr. My reward was a bs ups cheap lunch bag.By the time I left my wrist and knees where killing me. One dude was there for over 20 yrs and he walked like he was in so much pain with knee braces .I was not me I quit over text msg.Found a higher paying gig starting @ $18 per hr now I am at $24 per. So glad I left.
You definitely have to wing it your whole career at ups but that builds perseverance and problem solving skills. Not easy but in the long run its very rewarding (financially not mentally) 😅
I have worked at ups for almost a full year alot of this is true they don't teach you anything and especially during peak because it's so busy it can be kinda of a mad house around Christmas.i was a hard scaper/Mason prior an am not afraid of hard work and I legit thought about quitting after my first night I do not recommend applying during peak to anyone who is thinking about applying to ups.but I didn't and let me tell you it is hard work but it's more fast paced than anything else you are nonstop on your feet from the time you walk in till the time you walk out and that was the hardest part to get used too especially during peak but if you have the will power and push through it it does get better.ups is one big game because everything is unionized technically your first 30 days you are not in the union but after that it gets a little better you just gotta learn and know the ins and outs of how it works im glad I stayed the benefits are great pension after 5 years and awsome insurance I work in outbounds loading 24 footers a night I typically load 2 24s and a 50 footer I'm currently working on becoming a driver atm
I worked for ups from 2003-2008 first as a loader then sorter loader and auditor. we didn't have extendos back then. just roller lines. the belt i worked on, the parking lot was paved so high the trailers were 4 inches higher than the docks. the packages didn't roll in. you literally had to walk back and forth to break jams and push packages. hot as hell in the summer cold as hell in the winter. during peak season (nov-jan) it was absolute hell. literally mountains of packages everywhere. all that corporate BS of straight walls, no missorts etc went out the window. just get the packages moving. only good thing was the benefits. if you're gonna work there i'd suggest getting into truck driving or package car.
oh yeah and the starting pay back then was 8.50/ hr then 1/hr raise once you got a sorting raise. i lucked into an article 22 fulltime bid after 2 years. words of advice. drink plenty of water. wear good grippy cloth/rubber gloves (uline makes the best) and if you work two shifts have two pairs of boots.
My fraternal twin brother worked for these Brown Shirts for a little over a year. He was unfairly fired for standing up to his bully of a supervisor, the union refused to do anything to help him.
Im 59 yrs old,just started 2 weeks ago.ups Preloader is one of the easiest jobs I've had in my life. Definately not stressfull, your just loading boxes in trucks. Its super easy .
I just started as a pre-loader and I can relate to a lot of what you said. They just kind of threw me in there. My first day after orientation I showed up and they told me to go to the Pre-load office to get my assignment and meet my supervisor for the first time. I met him and he told me to go to the red belt and he would meet me over there. I got lost and had no idea where to find the red belt. There is just a maze of conveyor belts everywhere and none are labeled what they are. Anyway, my supervisor finds me wandering trying to find where I was supposed to be and I follow him and he takes me to the location to my spot on the belt. Anyway, he gives me a quick general rundown of what I am supposed to do. I had to load 4 trucks my first day, and he said no blowbys (packages that you miss and go by you on the conveyor belt) and no misloads and make sure I load according to the how the trucks' shelves are supposed to be loaded. I ended up loading them wrong, so he has to fix it and I couldn't keep up and packages flew by me and the ones I grabbed ended up getting stacked up around the belt lol. I was so overwhelmed. But now I am just starting my 2nd week and I am getting my groove going. I ask questions and I talk to the drivers of the trucks I load in the morning when they come in. They know how the lack of training is, so I told them please let me know how to do better each day when loading. The drivers are mostly nice, though there are a few cranky ones who see an improperly loaded truck and have a fit. I can't blame them, as they are out until 10 p.m. a lot of days trying to deliver all those. But going into my 2nd week, I'm feeling better and my supervisor said I was doing a good job, so that's good. I only had a couple of misloads (wrong package on the wrong truck). Misloads are a huge thing because then they make the driver go out of their way to a different area just to deliver it. So I pay close attention to that. If I get backed up, the packages will get on the truck eventually. The drivers will help you out and finish loading when they get there. It can be stressful, but in the end it's just boxes. Nothing to get too worked up over.
@@ChoooChooo Well I'm still there and still loading 4 trucks. The supervisor always wants you to work faster and comes around saying not to stack boxes because it's called pre-load, NOT pre-stack but I do what I can. If I go too fast and have a bunch of stuff in my hand for different trucks I can accidentally misload which is not good, so I just do the best I can. Most everyone else on the belt only loads 3 trucks, so I must be doing ok if they are keeping me on 4. I'm hanging in there since we'll have a new Union deal coming soon. I'm hoping we get longer breaks because the one 10 minute break we get barely gives me enough time to walk to the other side of the warehouse just to use the bathroom and refill my water bottle.
@@cariekaiser4265 I've been at UPS for about 4 months now. The first month was quite challenging as a preloader. Getting used to the early mornings and also the strain on my body. If you can stick it out for the first 30 days, things will slowly get easier. Your body will get used to the early morning hours and your muscles will get used to handling all those packages and you will become less sore. Speed will take time. Don't worry if you stack up boxes outside the trucks you are loading. Do the best you can. It's always much better to be accurate and not misload trucks than to rush and end up loading a bunch of the wrong stuff on the wrong trucks. Also, you can get written up for too many misloads but you can't get written up for being too slow, as long as you are not doing it intentionally. When I get overwhelmed and stressed out I just tell myself, "it's only boxes" lol. It's true. It's only boxes and they WILL get to their destination no matter what. The pay and benefits are awesome if you stick it out for a year and there are many opportunities as well. If you want to get into driving, you can really bring home tons of money in overtime. I said the same thing after 2 days...but I stuck with it, and made it a career. Now, 39 years later, Im sitting on my front porch, financially secure, with a great pension and benefits. I put 2 kids thru school, and took care of my family every day. And yea, it was hard work every day. Quitting is easy. Commitment is hard. We all make our choices.
I agree. Im actually starting tomorrow but I worked at UPS before. Its very physical and alot of work but thats to be expected. Alot of people come in thinking its going to be hard but they dont know how hard it will be. The people there throw you into the fire but you will have to fight through and learn real quick. After a day or two you will get the hang of it but your body will be sore. You will have to fight through pain and fast pace but after a week or two you get used to it and grind from there.
@slayher6230 well they wanted me back after peak but I didn't go back. I had two jobs I was good with. 10 years later I came back but I'm here to stay now. I wish I'd stayed and grew with the company. I would've been driver and half way to retire there.
I only worked in UPS for 5 weeks but I can tell you that the reason they they had people show up for orientation on their 1st day as well as the people that have been there for a week Is because they cannot guarantee that the people had been there for a week are still going to show up. So when they send a bunch of people home and say come back next week it's because they're expecting people to quit on mass in the 1st week. The majority of people that quit UPS quit within the 1st week
It's sink or swim. Your mental toughness will definitely be put to the test, but keep in mind. The benefits and pay for a UPSer are awesome. Retirement after 25. Plus there's a union behind you. Worked as a package slinger for UPS for two weeks in WI, everything you've said is true and to the letter. It's one of the most unorganized beehive colony workplaces you could ever get stuck at, they don't pay fairly for the labor they expect and the fact you have to record your time on a piece of paper vs something like KRONOS is ridiculous. My last day felt like I was free from a circus.

Seasonal PVD is where it's at ... easy as sh!t, no pressure on you, you meet up with a driver 2 maybe 3 times a day, get your packages and deliver them at your own pace nobody bothers you - you just call your driver once your packages are delivered to get more. 32 an hour plus 65 cents a mile.... You'll basically make 1150-1400 a week net / take home for approx 8 weeks
I started working in logistics as a loader-not for UPS-but a similar 3PL. Product came down a conveyor and I had to stack the boxes (luckily they were scanned automatically). A part of me wanted to quit because it wasn’t what I expected. I imagined myself sitting on a forklift-unloading pallets and cruising around. Nope. I ended up speaking to a Supervisor and letting them know I wanted to learn more. I ended up moving around into different departments and along the way soaked up a lot of knowledge. In a year I became an operations Supervisor in the warehouse. Now, a few years later, I’m an Operations Manager for a large 3PL. I have an office-supervisors reporting to me-and a relatively stress free job. I’m in important meetings with our management team-this is just a matter of a few years from stacking boxes in a truck. Morale of story: don’t be so quick to give up. Sometimes you have to find your own way. Ask questions-and create your own pathway to success. You will find that these obstacles will come with every job-overcome them with guts and determination. In the end, you’ll be rewarded.

Omg yes the ladder! I went down the steps without facing them and they freaked the fuck out! I’m glad I left that crap it was taking a toll on my body for $400/week nah I’m good, the managing was so unorganized they would move me everywhere, it was annoying as hell.
Its true that UPS doesnt spend alot of time training because they have such a high turnover rate. Its tough work and it isnt for everyone and they know that a majority of ppl are gonna tap out either because of the work or because of frustration from the incompetence. But its true that you almost end up training yourself in any position UPS offers. They spend a little more time on drivers than they do on preload or local sort etc. but even as a driver I went out there not knowing how to use the DIAD almost at all. But they like self-driven personalities because they know they wont have to hold their hand through their career.

I work at ups. Yeah, it’s not perfect. But it’s a good job. It’s not for the weak minded. It’s very unorganized and you need to stay on top of things. They provide great benefits for a part time job, and if you choose to drive you make between $21-$40 /hr. Full benefits and it’s unionized. I love working for ups.
Yo peak is the best time to make the money..it's definitely not for everyone... have to understand the lingo at work..lol..rookies have to learn like we all did and feel your way etc..but the money and benefits are good for part time. 🙌🏽🤷🏽♂️

The thing with UPS is that to make stockholders happy and not piss off the Union too much, they almost endlessly fuck over management to meet “record breaking profits”. The turn over rate for full time management positions is super high due to this. This leads to either under qualified, unhappy, or inexperienced management personnel.

I also worked here for a few days after I got out of college, I, like you, am young, work out daily (I run distance and do OCR races), and figured it wouldn't be a bad gig for the time being. My orientation was just like you said, and once I started it was horrible. The work was just super unorganized and the supervisors were absolutely miserable. If you messed up, you got reamed out, and asking questions was frowned upon. Needless to say, I left after 4 days and I didn't get called or anything. I didn't work during peak season, however, so I can't imagine how much worse it was for you! The money isn't terrible, and I didn't mind the physical aspect because I love to workout, but it was just a huge mess.

I worked at UPS for a month or so in the warehouse. They advertised one shift would be during the day on the weekends and that's why I applied but I saw quickly that those shifts don't exist. The only shift for the warehouse is from 2.00am or 3.00am to pack the vans. They told us almost every shift that if we are late we would be sent home and replaced. They were not nice about it either. My boyfriend was working with me luckily as I was told that the supervisor who was watching me was known for being inappropriate with certain women. I only worked the job until I went full time with my day job. My back went out one morning when I lifted an extremely heavy box on my own but they didn't care. I never went back but my boyfriend stayed on for another month or two and told me stories of how the lazy people were kept on and the people who worked hard were let go when the season was over. It's such a shame that BIG employers are allowed to treat people like cattle. I'm sure for some, this could be a career to work your way up. I didn't see it from my position at all. The warehouse was freezing temperatures too. I've worked hard for a long time but this was over the top awful. Take care getting into it and try not to take their crap personally if you want to move forward.

One other story. So my first day when I realized I was going to be there really late because I had a ton of packages left at 6:30PM still they said "just do as much as you can". So I was doing that and then got a call from the hub at like 9:30PM telling me we are not supposed to do so many hours. Talk about mixed messages. But as I stated in other replies now I just leave when I want and so far no one as said anything. Well, no one above me at least lol. Not sure what is happening with all the leftover deliveries.
This guy is really telling the truth. UPS is a sh** show like no other. My start date was October 31st of 21 and I worked there for 6 days as a UN-loader and I got like 14 hours. They told me before I started that we would be working 20-25 hours a week. Another thing was that they should tell everybody before they start working at the facility where I was working at is that you are going to be handling "UPS Freight" to where you can get a 53' trailer with heavy ass boxes that average 40-49 lbs a piece. It not like when I worked for UPS 25 years ago and I was unloading regular civilian packages that averaged 15-20 pounds.

Just have good work ethic and mentality and understand that if you start working a MANUAL LABOR JOB and you don’t do any workouts or aren’t in any shape and is just a twig then you’re going to be hurting, it’s 3-4 hour shifts and just think of it as a workout you’re being paid to do. It’s easy tbh once you get the hang of it. You’ll be achin and sore but who isn’t after their first couple days. If you have a good work ethic then you’ll be fine? Been in the warehouse 10 years. Seen hundreds of people come and go. Like most people….I’m just there for the insurance. you can make more money being a driver. But you’ll have no life.This job will not make you rich if that’s what you want.
I felt the same way but then I started to not let it stress me out. Now it's pretty tolerable. If I miss a package, "oh well" it will come around again. If I need to take a break when its busy I will do so. Because safety is preached (mainly to try and not pay out when someone does get hurt) they will never fault you for getting water, getting something to eat due to low blood sugar, ect.
The crazy part is my Ups facility spent a week training us and showing us how to load and it was still a shitty job 😂 supervisors were rude they would put my pph out there for everyone to hear even though i was clearly workin a sweat and trying my best
Seasonals as shitty as it sounds are just there to help out and work, y’all aren’t regular employees until after peak season and that’s when they figure out if they wanna keep you or not due to performance, as a regular employee you get a whole week of training and familiar with the warehouse, after all that you’ll be given a training supervisor who shows you how to do the job appropriately, jobs not for everyone but is nice to have if you like a workout
@@purplemustach1246 for the night I’d maybe load 300-500 in the trucks if we run the entire 21-30k. Which ain’t bad for 7-8 hours. We finish early every day. The 300-500 is between 3 trucks
I somehow stuck with the sunrise shift with FedEx from 4 AM to 8AM for 7 months. I was a loader and sometimes belt pick. Worst job ever, and the managers would oftentimes make you stay for several more hours on particularly high volume days when I already had plans based around my schedule. They had us work mandatory 6 day weeks during the peak season. It felt so good to resign and go to a copy center job after that. Never again.
I worked two different jobs with UPS. I worked Seasonal Personal Delivery during Christmas of 2021. I enjoyed that job. Then I was hired last week for package handler. I worked two days. The first day I did okay for the first day. I had no training or orientation. The supervisor I worked with was cool. But he said new hires are only allowed to work for an hour. Second day I worked for 4 hours and towards the end of my shift the heat was unbearable with no fan or anything. I ended up getting heat exhaustion and sick. The third day when I came to work they said they were overstaffed that night and sent me home and said they would call me next time they need me. I haven't heard from them since. I was very enthusiastic about the job. I also never got paid for what I worked. FedEx was more organized.

I worked there 36 years and it is a fast pace game both part time for 3 years and 33 in package car delivery ,it is very confusing to start there and they have problems all across the board and yes it is a mess in these hub's but when you were a kid you rode a bike with training wheels but when you got your balance those training wheels came off,in saying this the more reps you put in the job will get better and not only that it's a mind game and I would like to see each of you challenge yourself and be your own cheerleader to push through and keep going ,motivation is between you and you some people don't like to see hard workers makes them look bad it's all a mindset that you must have for your own success,yes it's like a deer in headlights in the beginning but you can do it with a proper mindset ,this is a very tough job no doubt about it like no other ,when it is busy how do you eat an elephant one bite at a time ,one box at a time,success for an individual starts there ,,this will open doors for you to move to several areas within the building of your choosing .you will stay in good shape working there ,you will have benefits working there you can go from part time to full time if you push through and yes it takes a unique individual to get there ,this job gave me my independence to stand on my own 2 feet and provide for a family without a college degree and that's what kept me even going through out the year's and now I am at the summit had enough to retire ,I got into a 401k there plus pension so that I could be my own person and this is my story for those who push through to greatness ,I pray that this message can give many boldness to grab it by the horns so they you can start your success story.
Mr. Hower I'm embarking that road right now. I want to be a truck driver in general, I want to part time for a year, then go to school for my CDL, join a company like swift, get up in experience, then part time for ups and eventually be hired on.
That CDL is the one thing I didn't do at ups but brother that CDL is the golden ticket to a very bright future ,much success to you ,go right your story.
It's sad how things turned out, and maybe your location was a busy one. I had and have a different experience with UPS. I started on Feb 15, 2022, and had a major red flag. The job was advertised as $18/h, but it turned out to be $15/h. Nowhere in the forms and documents you filled out said my salary. On the first day, I got my orientation, and one of the part-time supervisors did it. It was great, very informative, and straight. On my first day, the same supervisor showed me how to unload the brown trucks "brownies" and how to use the assistive equipment. It was simple, and he ensured I got it with a few tries and let me go on a row of aligned-up brownies. It was a bit hard initially, but I quickly got used to it. Also, for the first 15 days, we have mandatory safety training. You arrive 15 minutes before shift for a short training class, regulations, and basic knowledge of how to do your job. Then I got transferred to local sort for about three months or so. Now I'm working on "the wall," loading the trailers. I'm a 5'8 150lb male, but it's not that hard. As time passed, I showed interest in becoming a supervisor, so my building manager set me up for a HAZMAT audit class. The class was super cool, and the instructor was perfect. I've never had a class that I actually enjoyed. Also, they have a tuition assistance program, basically 5k a year and 25k for a lifetime. My tuition is 2k a semester, so it's perfect for me. Now I'm just waiting for a supervisor position to open up. Again, I think you were in the wrong location at the wrong time.
The hourly pay is kind of a scam. They'll say "$20 an hour..." but that's only if you don't miss a shift for the entire week. If you miss any time through the week, even excused, you will go down to a lower pay rate. It's like a "bonus".

to outweigh all the negative comments, my experience with the company thus far has been pretty good. I currently work in small sort, I get paid $21/hour, I have one 30-minute break and one 10-minute break (40 minutes in breaks in total), I work in front of a fan pretty much all day, my trainer(s) were super kind, making sure I was okay, made necessary accommodations, and provided reassurance and assistance, my supervisors/teammates have been pretty good on communication and were pretty welcoming, the snacks are SUPER cheap (depending on the day), my shift typically only lasts 5 hours, and it's guaranteed pay (5 days a week, plus they let you work holidays after obtaining seniority for a times and a half, which equates to around $31/hour). downsides: - vaping - obsessive profanity (contingent upon the individual) overall: I would recommend the job to those 17-24 y/o, especially given the pay.

Lmao. Hit the nail on the head lol. I haven't worked for UPS (I recently applied for package handler but having 2nd thoughts now. 😆) Seems like Amazon delivery station is easier (my last job). But one thing I hate is when managers or whoever, when you're a new employee, don't tell you everything you need to know; what you should be doing or not doing. Then you end up getting fired for miscommunication. My brother worked at UPS for a while as a loader. But I don't know if he was loading the brown vans or the tractor trailers. I think it was trailers. He's now a truck driver (18-wheeler), but not for UPS.
Had the same experience I did... legit the same things happened to me. No schedule, didn't tell me how to use the scanner cuz I was also logged out and had no number. Almost knocked out my drug addict supervisor. Me and some depressing dude loading a truck, he then disappears. It was just a fucking mess 😂
Bruh I just got fired today. I had a bitch supervisor and some dude that was helping me suddenly dissapears and leaves me to unload a full truck by myself. I told my supervisor this in a rude way and she responded in a bitchy manner. "You can do it! Better yet, go home and don't come back." Then I said to her "Sure I'll leave but now your job is a little harder." I swear I wanted to hit her so bad. I don't tolerate disrespect from anyone so if you start screaming at me, I'm gonna cuss you out or worse.
If you thought it was tough physically, imagine the average person. People don't realize how gruelling these jobs are.

No cap I was moving non stop. I’m fit too and move fast that’s how fast them belts moved. I Worked by the corner so I had 3 trucks and whatever I couldn’t pick up in time it just piled up and it does every damn day which pissed me tf off lol. I had my water bottle on me and even I had no time to sip sometimes. Plus the drivers when they come they always never like how u put stuff in there and end up rearranging the whole shit while u help them.

I quit after a week. Not only did they cut my hours, take me out of my preloader position and then put me in the unloader position, but then the unloader supervisor started to catch an attitude with me. She screamed " WORK DOMINIC OR I'LL SEND YOU HOME AGAIN. " big mistake. 20 min later I decided to mouth off to her right to her face and she told me to leave and not come back. That's when I told her
"Sure I'm leaving, but now your shift is a little harder."

I have been at ups for almost 7 months. I work the night shift and as a process server during the day. About 3 weeks into ups, one of the leads was in my trailer screaming "your walls look like shit! And I'm gonna send you home"
I usually let it go because I guess that's how he motivates people. Then he starts making fun of me for what I do for a living outside of UPS.
I lost it.

He told me to go outside and get some air. I came back, gave a brief apology and went back to work. He said that he didn't expect me to yell at him.
Now, earlier this week that same supervisor came into my trailer bitching about how he doesn't think my partner and I are moving fast enough. He said he was gonna send us home and load the trailer himself.
I yelled that he wasn't gonna send me fucking home!
He then left in disgust. The guy I was working with is a new hire and asked why all supervisors have attitudes. I told him that's how it goes. Now peak season is here. I just hope I can make it to become a driver.

I currently work for ups (im literally sitting in a brown truck loading rn lol) this job is not for the faint heart or lazy people… I hate this job so much but if you have good motivation and fight through it it’s a great company to work for, best insurance etc etc. im expected to make $165,000 by the age of 22 because I started at the bottom at the age 18. Ups is seniority based, all the complaints in this video are simply because he was at the bottom of the food chain, the ladder situation is common sense as well, we are union based so they don’t mess around with safety. This job is not for everyone but if you wanna make bank start rn!

I started 3 weeks ago as a loader/unloader. I hated it tbh but I never showed it, I always kept a chill vibe with everyone and noticed they noticed that too. So long story short, I told them about my experience in pharmaceutical machine operating and they moved me to a higher position where it's more technical and less physical. Pay went up a little and now I'm starting to like it.

I quit a day before passing probation. Came to get my check and the manager asked if a wanted to try small sort (5lbs or less) I was like hell yeah. Went to small sort, then to sort school to learn zip codes. This was before all of the technology stuff. Started at 8.00 over two year got 2.00 more 10.00 once I passed sort school it went to 12.00. I became the fastest Primary small sorter at 360 packages sorted every 5 mins. So on top of the 12.00 my bonus could be (depending on the volume) 15-20.00 extra per hour. It’s not a bad place to be because I knew dudes that stayed now making a six figure salary with no college degree although back in the day UPS paid for college if you became a supervisor.

Very similar experience for me as well. I worked the evening shift (5pm-9pm) and was a Loader too. Sounds crazy for UPS, but this was honestly one of the most physically-demanding jobs I've ever done. I had to constantly sprint back and forth from the conveyor belt to this 75ft semi-truck trailer, which was literally 110 degrees plus. All of my coworkers said the turnover for the job was about a week. I was also told it was a part-time position, but it ended up being seasonal and that if they liked you, you could come back the next season. I ended up working an entire summer while in college, came back that Christmas and was a driver helper, then again that following summer. I was told that since I had stuck with it and was a good worker, that the following Summer I would have a less physically-demanding role once returning. Unfortunately, that was not the case and I ended up quitting. They completely blacklisted me and told me they never promised a better position.
I think I'm blacklisted as well. I did the seasonal loading and it was bs. They put me in an area with all the Mexicans who didn't speak English all because they thought I was like them. So nobody told me what to do because of the language barrier and the person over them who did speak English started calling me slurs in Spanish. I quit but years later tried to get a driving position.

That 10 minute break does not have to be given to you just so you know when you work part time you do not have to be given any break at all so if I were you I would take that 10 minute break and be lucky you're getting it at all. I attended the classes, but they didn't teach me anything, luckily my coach was a boy from Thailand, who was patient with me and constantly corrected me. the job is physical and stressful. sometimes you don't know what to do with many boxes. but with two people it's fine. I hope to adapt.
I quit after like 4 days 😂 I was like hell nah when I was training it was easy and chill cause the other dude was helping me but then after that I was doing 3 trucks by the corner and goddamn all I got was rdl and mdl. What's sad is that a lot of warehouse position is like that. Some people like myself all I knew was warehouse work so I stuck it out and ended up working at warehouse under intense stress and physical lifting. I work at a warehouse and wasted nearly 15 years of my life. Now I refuse to work in a warehouse. Back and knees use to hurt. Always worned out and stressed out. I recommend working in manufacturing if you like warehouse work because of the pay and it's more laid back. I work for lab job now. It's more relaxed even though there's alot of work but it's not labor intensive and stressful
I showed up for my first day of work as a pre loader and just walked out and quit after 2 hours . The supervisor lame ass dude when I was unloading trucks kept telling me to go faster when I was going my max speed , I mean some of these boxes are 70-80 pounds and they expect you to move a box every 3 seconds / 1200 and hour no break. An hour and 30 min into unloading trucks the supervisor fuckhead keeps telling me to go faster and I end up almost passing out then instantly puke all over the back of the trailer , also I was so sweaty i looked like I just ran a marathon in a sauna. Then they made me clean it up then moved me to tape up the broken boxes and when they weren’t looking I just walked out .

Just started at FedEx and it’s the saaaaame damn thing. No training, despite the fact that there were two “trainers” but all they really did was just help when it became overwhelming. Stuck me in an empty trailer alone to load from front to back- without a single example of how to. I know we’ve all moved before and know how to load boxes but this requires some method that everyone knows in the building but no one is sharing. This is a second job for me to pay off some debt- nothing about it seems worth it. Pay may just go to medical bills due to the injuries that will come later.

broooo on god I started a month ago and i’ve went through the exact same thing , I loaded the whole amazon trailer by myself getting folded, I had to scan and put them in the truck , and I had rollers not the belt. supervisors are horrible , our warehouse is made to process 25000 boxes/day and it’s peak season and we are pushing 70000 boxes/day. they really do take you out the classroom and put you to work clueless. try sorting for 7 hours with one 10 min break and you got 2 people unloading, bro almost harder than football practice 🤣

Bro! Same situation as me!! This place is a joke. 🤣 Today was my first day as a seasonal driver. They handed me a vest, a phone, my paper manifest and turned their backs on me! I was like “Ummm, can someone show me how to use the phone to navigate the app, show me how to clock in and out, enter my mileage and show me how to do the job?! That shit was so unorganized. Luckily, I had someone that has been there for a few weeks and she was kind enough to guide me through it. If it wasn’t for her help, I was about to walk out and never return. Also, regarding the employee number to log into the phone, I was given a 6 digit number. Management kept telling me I needed a 7 digit number. I pulled up my email to prove to them that I was in fact given a 6 digit number and not a 7 digit number. HR made a mistake. They left off the seventh digit! Total shit show. 💀

This job is really only good for 3rd shift part timers to make a quick paycheck in a pinch. I work midnight and it's always said to be the best shift . This job is very taxing and will test you. For me one of the worst things was that everybody that came in for orientation on the 1st day was expected $20 per hour because that's what they advertised on the website when we all filled out our applications. Turn the orientation one person dared to ask the question how much are we getting paid each hour and they came out toward us straight up we're only in paid $50 an hour even though it used to be 20 last August by the way I was working in March of 2021 And they explained that in March of August 2020 they cut the pay back to $15 per hour. All of their advertisements for hiring and jobs and availability with everybody that showed up and there was about 22 people that showed up that day to believe that we were supposed to be getting paid $20 an hour starting the job.
Sad to say my experience at UPS for my first day was EXACTLY the same !! I had to laugh at myself when I realized I was going through the exact same shit you described 😭. Unfortunately I need the money so I’ll be going back, but I’m hoping it gets less chaotic & I meet someone who actually doesn’t mind explaining my job to me in full detail.

Ok yes everything he’s saying is true and it is very disorganized and grueling when you first start working there, but honestly once you get past the first 2-3 weeks, the job isn’t that bad. You get really physically fit and you start to learn strategies that help you throughout as well.
Yup I’m on my 3rd week, it’s definitely getting more easier. I can’t tell you how many times I thought about quitting though. It’s a tough job.

I started yesterday and didn't even have an orientation they just gave me a supervisor when I arrived and he showed me the numbers in the truck where to put the boxes and wished me good luck. Then today I was given a different task and I was sorting an absurd amount of boxes and it was an absolute disaster I got yelled at for going too slow. I said well maybe somebody should help train me so I can be prepared and know what's going on. Very physical job just about 5 hours nonstop lifting boxes some of which are heavy as hell. I believe they don't take the time to train people because such a high percentage of new employees quit that they believe it's not worth the time and you're either going to figure it out or quit. The work is definitely not worth it for 15$ an hour so today was my last day.
I last 2 days in there. Some old head came up to me on my second day talking about how I wasn’t working fast enough. I almost threw hands with him. I ended up just walking out like 30min into the shift and never went back. Not NO ONE explained anything to me.. how to do anything, where anything is, how I do everything.
This is how it was for me at FedEx lol I get it. I had to find people and ask how to do this or that. I didn’t understand why my scanner did certain things. Had to walk all over the warehouse to ask a question lol it was a nightmare. Eventually I toughed it out and became the PH trainer for our warehouse and I make sure all the new folks know what to do and make them know I’m available for questions, what van line I’m on the whole 9 cause I don’t want people to go thru what I went thru or what you yourself went thru.

Hey, you know what...First, I believe everything this dude has said. Briefly, I did 20 years military, 15 years as a police officer, and was looking for a part-time gig. I am in Texas and I will tell you why I believe dude. I applied at UPS. I completed an over-the-phone interview. I was given a conditional job offer, and paperwork to complete a DOT physical. I went the very next day, completed the physical. Of course, I passed. I happened to have made one stop before making it back home, & I got a call from UPS informing me the position I applied for basically disappeared. When I made it home and could devote my time to a focused conversation, I called UPS recruiting. What a merry go round series of phone calls...press option 1 for package handlers, press option 2 for drivers (or vice versa)... Anyhow, the (lack of) answers and conversation changed like the direction of the wind as the phone call progressed. So, before ppl start saying crazy ish. I am a marathon runner...still today. I have held several jobs where I have had FBI backgrounds/polygraphs, etc. No criminal history or crazy reason(s) to fail a background. I have never used any illicit drugs. Anyhow, if I call UPS today. Nobody there has any answers, but they keep sending me a job offer with no driving tests available to schedule or any other directions. I know, you are probably thinking wait, you said package handler. Why you need a driving test? Yes, I did. Believe me, I am just as confused as this may sound. Needless to say, I wasn't even looking for this video. I swear I was on YT for a whole other reason. Bro, thank you. UPS can keep this BS. It is not for me...I can see the un-organization from the outside. I definitely don't want to see and/or experience it from the inside. I will never quit at UPS because I will never start... Why ignore the obvious? The writing (red flags you mention) is right in front of me on the wall(s).
I quit on my sixth day, walked out mid shift. My supervisor noticed I fled and gazed at me like a deer when I drove out of the lot. Applied back 9 months later to work as a seasonal driver and got turned away because of my no-rehire status.

Thanks for making this video. I was going back and forth for a week about taking a UPS Warehouse Worker job. I didn’t even finish the application, but they started calling me like every other day and sending me emails to help me finish the application. My gut was telling me no, but then they just raised the pay here in Hawaii from $15.50 to $19.93. That was a red flag for me because it showed they must be having a hard time hiring people, and the turnovers gotta be real high. I worked at Pepsi as a Warehouse Truck Loader for a month and that was hell. I thought I’d give UPS a chance thinking they might be different, but I kept seeing red flags everywhere.

No training, no communication, shitty attitudes, unsure when to show up to work and when I was given a route (PVD) it was the worse of the worse for my little four door sedan lol after being in a isolated rural area with no service/no gps for 2 hours I returned their packages. Of course they gave me the shitty route instead of their homeboy who was driving the actual brown van! UPS is not for me! 👋🏾

Everything he said is spot on i worked in the morning so i would get up at 4am …. I worked over there for a year and during peak season it literally took a huge toll on me mentally and physically. I would come home and sleep until 12-130. one time randomly they cut everybodys pay and didnt tell anybody my boss pretended like he didnt know wat was going on but he knew at the time i needed the money. the environment is trash and super depressing the drivers make alot of money but they pretty much live at the factory there are dudes on the preload who been there 15+ years literally insanity. alot of good people work there but its a low quality environment.
Bro that happened to me and also quit on the second day. I honestly didn't want to but it was getting to the point where it stressed me out and supervisors and managers were not communicating with me. I applied for the early morning shift and get this, I had to drive about a 45-50 min drive because I lived in another city. So for the supervisors or mangers not communicating with me and letting me what time I come in was not it. They do throw you around to test you but most part it's their job to explain to you how to correctly do the job.

I worked for FedEx Ground for 3 years. Very similar job. I only lasted so long because the schedule worked so I could take college classes in the afternoon. I hated every single shift. Always some bs, I usually unloaded the large trailers and then filled the other large trailers for outbound. It’s supposed to be 3 people, 2 unloading and one scanning. The reality? Just me unloading and scanning. They had a tight window to get done. So unloading a 53 ft trailer takes 2 hrs with 2 people. Also, winter was brutal. No heating in the building, and -20 sucks

This job gets to me often. The scanners can be crap. Slides jam, floors get messy. Part time sups get introuble if they touch boxes. Twilight is the busiest sort. Theres no set time of when we are done or when break is. If you show up at the posted time theres a damn stagger and you don't get paid for the first 10 or more minutes. 4 years in and I've done a lot in the hub. Theres room for movement but it takes time unless they really need people in an area. Job pays nice for part time but that 21 an hour isn't like a 21 an hour part time job because you dont get the hours. The time and a half-(anything over 5 hours) is 31.50 in my hub building. You'll probably be loading two shifts in a row. This place really only pays well enough as a full timer or driver. With management theres room for movement but I'm unsure of that area because I've stayed in the union.

Fed ex is a little more organized but it’s the same story. 10 minute break is not enough for how fast for how long you work. I’m gonna quit fed ex a loader is only for experienced people

@@karizmagloria8443 kinda sounds fair but what they gotta remember is that maybe the humans and the workers are on a 10 minute break but that doesn’t mean the packages and boxes are. So once that 10 minutes are up you’re now 10 minutes behind schedule
The people who can’t handle it are always gone within a week. It’s a hard job not just physically but mentally. If you think the disorganization and fight or flight mentality is rough in the warehouse, you wouldn’t last 5 minutes driving a package car. UPS isn’t in the business of teaching. They want folks who can come in and apply themselves, by themselves.

I worked for UPS for 3 or 4 months in 2021 he's 100% right another thing he didn't bring up was the fact that where these locations are you have to drive at least a half hour to get to them no matter where you live it's not worth driving that distance for only three possibly 4 hours a night just for a union to take a large chunk of your paycheck

UPS was a total joke, I was clearing out a path, and my “supervisor” screamed at my face as if he wanted to kill me saying “WE HAVE A NEW LOADER GET OUT OF HERE” and I left and that was about my day 😂
During peak season in December, my supervisor was on my ass every 30 seconds and I wanted his to give me space. He then asked me to pick up the pace and I told him to "get fucked".
Within 30 seconds the lead was in my face telling me we can't talk like that in the warehouse . I apologized and went back to work but being a loader can get stressful at times. I finally got my benefits and am still with ups. I don't blame people for quitting this place. I think about it weekly.
I'm already gonna quit. Been here for about 6-7 weeks and I gotta tell you the BS you have to put up with is ridiculous. I've lost our on sleep and gas money several times already because they've cut me and make me go home early because the volume was too low and they only keep seniority hires for slow days and NEVER say anything beforehand so that we could be prepared for it.
That’s crazy when I applied they walkthrough the whole wearhouse showing us where to go, what color were the belts and what zip codes the different colors were. Very organized, completely different story on my behalf. I was a sort, no position in UPS is easy. Be aware if you will be a sort, small sort or loader you will be buried in packages. I only lasted a month. Very physical
I’m a supervisor at the Lenexa hub and goddamn I didn’t realize how good we were until I watched this video, we have trainers hip to hip with new hires for a week then after that the part time supervisors are supposed to do hourly checkins with each of their people new or not

I'm at the Independence hub. We work hip to hip with new hires the first week and are expected to spend at least some time in the loads/unloads with new hires every day for their first 30 working days. I'll admit that we do miss some of those visits when SHTF during a shift, but we are working with week 2-6 new hires for at least 3 days a week.
Hell, we pass out fruit, popsicles, and Gatorade every day during the summer, too.

Update: I’ve learned a lot about UPS during my experience during peak and afterwards. I’m in the process of quitting in July. But here’s some things you should know before signing your life away:
UPS hire’s random off street employees, the job is a revolving door, people come and go. The Supervisors who manage everything are cocky and are entitled assholes . Please don’t be a boot licker to them, your human don’t let them rush your role or anything. They’re puppets to management, so if anything doesn’t go right upper management shits on them. New hire’s aren’t told about the contract or about Union stewards, when you complete your probation period. Please do not let any Supervisors bitch you, If they ask you to do something do it in a slow manner. Remember your safety matters and if they harass you tell them “ I’m working as safe as possible.” Working in the Warehouse UPS doesn’t care about your safety, they cut corners to insure everything get done in a timely manner. Next, during your probation period, they monitor and determine if you stay or leave. They’ll work you like a mule! Do not let them rush you seriously! Take your time!! UPS is always looking for warm bodies to make production excellent for their clients! Do not let any Supervisor’s steal your work either! That means they can’t touch boxes. This follows a grievance you can file against them once you complete your probation period. I highly only recommend this job for Peak season, that’s were you make the most overtime/ money. After peak, your hours drop and your paychecks turn into $300-$400 this all depends on the volume and if you get sent home early.

@@brenbeauty That’s considered a “Grievance” it goes against the Union contract. Supervisor’s aren’t allowed to touch packages at all. You can compensate money by filing a grievance, by notifying a Union Steward that’s within your warehouse. Management doesn’t tell any New union member’s this because they don’t like have hire’s know about certain things

@@brenbeauty To keep them from running without Teamster Employees, supervisors and most non-Teamsters can not move or load the packages. If one of my supervisors picks up a box no one cares but if say an employee did not show up they cannot just do his job and say load his truck.
My orientation was at 4am & it was my manager going over the building, hazards, what to do and what not to do & it was only about 15-20 min. There’s like 2-3 managers in every section that will cover you if you need to go to the restroom. & it’s super fast paced but if you are getting alot of packages you stack them on the side and then organize it. Also the people next to you will help you out catching the packages & everyone is super helpful. The shift is only 5 hours with a 5-10 min break. It’s really not that bad lol

I thought 10 min break was required by all hubs as long as you work more than 3 and half hours. I know lunch breaks are not paid for but when we get 10 min breaks its paid for break which is nice.
Omg talk about bringing up nightmares, I worked at the facility in Secaucus nj for 2 yrs after the massive layoffs in 2008 across the USA.i lasted 2 yrs for a misely $11 an hr. My shift started @ 4:45 am -8:45 am until the drivers came in. Bust my ass loaded in 4 trucks every morning till I developed severe carpal tunnel syndrome in Mt right wrist. The pain was so bad
It was painful holding a dam bottle of h20. Chasing packages in that carasel going around with the designated truck #. Trust me it was you chasing packages and loading in to the proper truck. But I progressed to an excellent loader with only one missload within one yr. My reward was a bs ups cheap lunch bag.By the time I left my wrist and knees where killing me. One dude was there for over 20 yrs and he walked like he was in so much pain with knee braces .I was not me I quit over text msg.Found a higher paying gig starting @
$18 per hr now I am at $24 per. So glad I left.
You definitely have to wing it your whole career at ups but that builds perseverance and problem solving skills. Not easy but in the long run its very rewarding (financially not mentally) 😅
I have worked at ups for almost a full year alot of this is true they don't teach you anything and especially during peak because it's so busy it can be kinda of a mad house around Christmas.i was a hard scaper/Mason prior an am not afraid of hard work and I legit thought about quitting after my first night I do not recommend applying during peak to anyone who is thinking about applying to ups.but I didn't and let me tell you it is hard work but it's more fast paced than anything else you are nonstop on your feet from the time you walk in till the time you walk out and that was the hardest part to get used too especially during peak but if you have the will power and push through it it does get better.ups is one big game because everything is unionized technically your first 30 days you are not in the union but after that it gets a little better you just gotta learn and know the ins and outs of how it works im glad I stayed the benefits are great pension after 5 years and awsome insurance I work in outbounds loading 24 footers a night I typically load 2 24s and a 50 footer I'm currently working on becoming a driver atm
I worked for ups from 2003-2008 first as a loader then sorter loader and auditor. we didn't have extendos back then. just roller lines. the belt i worked on, the parking lot was paved so high the trailers were 4 inches higher than the docks. the packages didn't roll in. you literally had to walk back and forth to break jams and push packages. hot as hell in the summer cold as hell in the winter. during peak season (nov-jan) it was absolute hell. literally mountains of packages everywhere. all that corporate BS of straight walls, no missorts etc went out the window. just get the packages moving. only good thing was the benefits. if you're gonna work there i'd suggest getting into truck driving or package car.
oh yeah and the starting pay back then was 8.50/ hr then 1/hr raise once you got a sorting raise. i lucked into an article 22 fulltime bid after 2 years. words of advice. drink plenty of water. wear good grippy cloth/rubber gloves (uline makes the best) and if you work two shifts have two pairs of boots.

My fraternal twin brother worked for these Brown Shirts for a little over a year. He was unfairly fired for standing up to his bully of a supervisor, the union refused to do anything to help him.
Cursing is a big no-no to a SUP. Should have filled a harassment grievance every time the SUP got out of hand, guy would back off quick after that.

I just started as a pre-loader and I can relate to a lot of what you said. They just kind of threw me in there. My first day after orientation I showed up and they told me to go to the Pre-load office to get my assignment and meet my supervisor for the first time. I met him and he told me to go to the red belt and he would meet me over there. I got lost and had no idea where to find the red belt. There is just a maze of conveyor belts everywhere and none are labeled what they are. Anyway, my supervisor finds me wandering trying to find where I was supposed to be and I follow him and he takes me to the location to my spot on the belt. Anyway, he gives me a quick general rundown of what I am supposed to do. I had to load 4 trucks my first day, and he said no blowbys (packages that you miss and go by you on the conveyor belt) and no misloads and make sure I load according to the how the trucks' shelves are supposed to be loaded. I ended up loading them wrong, so he has to fix it and I couldn't keep up and packages flew by me and the ones I grabbed ended up getting stacked up around the belt lol. I was so overwhelmed. But now I am just starting my 2nd week and I am getting my groove going. I ask questions and I talk to the drivers of the trucks I load in the morning when they come in. They know how the lack of training is, so I told them please let me know how to do better each day when loading. The drivers are mostly nice, though there are a few cranky ones who see an improperly loaded truck and have a fit. I can't blame them, as they are out until 10 p.m. a lot of days trying to deliver all those. But going into my 2nd week, I'm feeling better and my supervisor said I was doing a good job, so that's good. I only had a couple of misloads (wrong package on the wrong truck). Misloads are a huge thing because then they make the driver go out of their way to a different area just to deliver it. So I pay close attention to that. If I get backed up, the packages will get on the truck eventually. The drivers will help you out and finish loading when they get there. It can be stressful, but in the end it's just boxes. Nothing to get too worked up over.
@@ChoooChooo Well I'm still there and still loading 4 trucks. The supervisor always wants you to work faster and comes around saying not to stack boxes because it's called pre-load, NOT pre-stack but I do what I can. If I go too fast and have a bunch of stuff in my hand for different trucks I can accidentally misload which is not good, so I just do the best I can. Most everyone else on the belt only loads 3 trucks, so I must be doing ok if they are keeping me on 4. I'm hanging in there since we'll have a new Union deal coming soon. I'm hoping we get longer breaks because the one 10 minute break we get barely gives me enough time to walk to the other side of the warehouse just to use the bathroom and refill my water bottle.

@@cariekaiser4265 I've been at UPS for about 4 months now. The first month was quite challenging as a preloader. Getting used to the early mornings and also the strain on my body. If you can stick it out for the first 30 days, things will slowly get easier. Your body will get used to the early morning hours and your muscles will get used to handling all those packages and you will become less sore. Speed will take time. Don't worry if you stack up boxes outside the trucks you are loading. Do the best you can. It's always much better to be accurate and not misload trucks than to rush and end up loading a bunch of the wrong stuff on the wrong trucks. Also, you can get written up for too many misloads but you can't get written up for being too slow, as long as you are not doing it intentionally. When I get overwhelmed and stressed out I just tell myself, "it's only boxes" lol. It's true. It's only boxes and they WILL get to their destination no matter what. The pay and benefits are awesome if you stick it out for a year and there are many opportunities as well. If you want to get into driving, you can really bring home tons of money in overtime. I wish you the best!

Now, 39 years later, Im sitting on my front porch, financially secure, with a great pension and benefits. I put 2 kids thru school, and took care of my family every day. And yea, it was hard work every day.

I agree. Im actually starting tomorrow but I worked at UPS before. Its very physical and alot of work but thats to be expected. Alot of people come in thinking its going to be hard but they dont know how hard it will be. The people there throw you into the fire but you will have to fight through and learn real quick. After a day or two you will get the hang of it but your body will be sore. You will have to fight through pain and fast pace but after a week or two you get used to it and grind from there.

I only worked in UPS for 5 weeks but I can tell you that the reason they they had people show up for orientation on their 1st day as well as the people that have been there for a week Is because they cannot guarantee that the people had been there for a week are still going to show up. So when they send a bunch of people home and say come back next week it's because they're expecting people to quit on mass in the 1st week. The majority of people that quit UPS quit within the 1st week
It's sink or swim. Your mental toughness will definitely be put to the test, but keep in mind. The benefits and pay for a UPSer are awesome. Retirement after 25. Plus there's a union behind you. Worked as a package slinger for UPS for two weeks in WI, everything you've said is true and to the letter. It's one of the most unorganized beehive colony workplaces you could ever get stuck at, they don't pay fairly for the labor they expect and the fact you have to record your time on a piece of paper vs something like KRONOS is ridiculous. My last day felt like I was free from a circus.

Seasonal PVD is where it's at ... easy as sh!t, no pressure on you, you meet up with a driver 2 maybe 3 times a day, get your packages and deliver them at your own pace nobody bothers you - you just call your driver once your packages are delivered to get more. 32 an hour plus 65 cents a mile.... You'll basically make 1150-1400 a week net / take home for approx 8 weeks

I started working in logistics as a loader-not for UPS-but a similar 3PL. Product came down a conveyor and I had to stack the boxes (luckily they were scanned automatically). A part of me wanted to quit because it wasn’t what I expected. I imagined myself sitting on a forklift-unloading pallets and cruising around. Nope.
I ended up speaking to a Supervisor and letting them know I wanted to learn more. I ended up moving around into different departments and along the way soaked up a lot of knowledge. In a year I became an operations Supervisor in the warehouse.
Now, a few years later, I’m an Operations Manager for a large 3PL. I have an office-supervisors reporting to me-and a relatively stress free job. I’m in important meetings with our management team-this is just a matter of a few years from stacking boxes in a truck.
Morale of story: don’t be so quick to give up. Sometimes you have to find your own way. Ask questions-and create your own pathway to success. You will find that these obstacles will come with every job-overcome them with guts and determination. In the end, you’ll be rewarded.

Its true that UPS doesnt spend alot of time training because they have such a high turnover rate. Its tough work and it isnt for everyone and they know that a majority of ppl are gonna tap out either because of the work or because of frustration from the incompetence. But its true that you almost end up training yourself in any position UPS offers. They spend a little more time on drivers than they do on preload or local sort etc. but even as a driver I went out there not knowing how to use the DIAD almost at all. But they like self-driven personalities because they know they wont have to hold their hand through their career.
I really respect and appreciate you for making this video. I need to know things like this before I apply anywhere because I have some mental issues and can't afford to "find out if I like it" and then quit because I can't mentally handle it. I got bills to pay too lol.

I work at ups. Yeah, it’s not perfect. But it’s a good job. It’s not for the weak minded. It’s very unorganized and you need to stay on top of things. They provide great benefits for a part time job, and if you choose to drive you make between $21-$40 /hr. Full benefits and it’s unionized. I love working for ups.

The thing with UPS is that to make stockholders happy and not piss off the Union too much, they almost endlessly fuck over management to meet “record breaking profits”. The turn over rate for full time management positions is super high due to this. This leads to either under qualified, unhappy, or inexperienced management personnel.

I also worked here for a few days after I got out of college, I, like you, am young, work out daily (I run distance and do OCR races), and figured it wouldn't be a bad gig for the time being. My orientation was just like you said, and once I started it was horrible. The work was just super unorganized and the supervisors were absolutely miserable. If you messed up, you got reamed out, and asking questions was frowned upon. Needless to say, I left after 4 days and I didn't get called or anything. I didn't work during peak season, however, so I can't imagine how much worse it was for you! The money isn't terrible, and I didn't mind the physical aspect because I love to workout, but it was just a huge mess.

I worked at UPS for a month or so in the warehouse. They advertised one shift would be during the day on the weekends and that's why I applied but I saw quickly that those shifts don't exist. The only shift for the warehouse is from 2.00am or 3.00am to pack the vans. They told us almost every shift that if we are late we would be sent home and replaced. They were not nice about it either. My boyfriend was working with me luckily as I was told that the supervisor who was watching me was known for being inappropriate with certain women. I only worked the job until I went full time with my day job. My back went out one morning when I lifted an extremely heavy box on my own but they didn't care. I never went back but my boyfriend stayed on for another month or two and told me stories of how the lazy people were kept on and the people who worked hard were let go when the season was over. It's such a shame that BIG employers are allowed to treat people like cattle. I'm sure for some, this could be a career to work your way up. I didn't see it from my position at all. The warehouse was freezing temperatures too. I've worked hard for a long time but this was over the top awful. Take care getting into it and try not to take their crap personally if you want to move forward.

One other story. So my first day when I realized I was going to be there really late because I had a ton of packages left at 6:30PM still they said "just do as much as you can". So I was doing that and then got a call from the hub at like 9:30PM telling me we are not supposed to do so many hours. Talk about mixed messages. But as I stated in other replies now I just leave when I want and so far no one as said anything. Well, no one above me at least lol. Not sure what is happening with all the leftover deliveries.
This guy is really telling the truth. UPS is a sh** show like no other. My start date was October 31st of 21 and I worked there for 6 days as a UN-loader and I got like 14 hours. They told me before I started that we would be working 20-25 hours a week. Another thing was that they should tell everybody before they start working at the facility where I was working at is that you are going to be handling "UPS Freight" to where you can get a 53' trailer with heavy ass boxes that average 40-49 lbs a piece. It not like when I worked for UPS 25 years ago and I was unloading regular civilian packages that averaged 15-20 pounds.

Just have good work ethic and mentality and understand that if you start working a MANUAL LABOR JOB and you don’t do any workouts or aren’t in any shape and is just a twig then you’re going to be hurting, it’s 3-4 hour shifts and just think of it as a workout you’re being paid to do. It’s easy tbh once you get the hang of it. You’ll be achin and sore but who isn’t after their first couple days. If you have a good work ethic then you’ll be fine? Clearly this dude and many others do not
Unloader? Dude unload is super easy u don’t even have to think just grab a box and set it on a conveyor.

Been in the warehouse 10 years. Seen hundreds of people come and go. Like most people….I’m just there for the insurance. you can make more money being a driver. But you’ll have no life.This job will not make you rich if that’s what you want.

I felt the same way but then I started to not let it stress me out. Now it's pretty tolerable. If I miss a package, "oh well" it will come around again. If I need to take a break when its busy I will do so. Because safety is preached (mainly to try and not pay out when someone does get hurt) they will never fault you for getting water, getting something to eat due to low blood sugar, ect.
The crazy part is my Ups facility spent a week training us and showing us how to load and it was still a shitty job 😂 supervisors were rude they would put my pph out there for everyone to hear even though i was clearly workin a sweat and trying my best
Seasonals as shitty as it sounds are just there to help out and work, y’all aren’t regular employees until after peak season and that’s when they figure out if they wanna keep you or not due to performance, as a regular employee you get a whole week of training and familiar with the warehouse, after all that you’ll be given a training supervisor who shows you how to do the job appropriately, jobs not for everyone but is nice to have if you like a workout

I somehow stuck with the sunrise shift with FedEx from 4 AM to 8AM for 7 months.
I was a loader and sometimes belt pick.
Worst job ever, and the managers would oftentimes make you stay for several more hours on particularly high volume days when I already had plans based around my schedule. They had us work mandatory 6 day weeks during the peak season.
It felt so good to resign and go to a copy center job after that. Never again.
I worked two different jobs with UPS. I worked Seasonal Personal Delivery during Christmas of 2021. I enjoyed that job. Then I was hired last week for package handler. I worked two days. The first day I did okay for the first day. I had no training or orientation. The supervisor I worked with was cool. But he said new hires are only allowed to work for an hour. Second day I worked for 4 hours and towards the end of my shift the heat was unbearable with no fan or anything. I ended up getting heat exhaustion and sick. The third day when I came to work they said they were overstaffed that night and sent me home and said they would call me next time they need me. I haven't heard from them since. I was very enthusiastic about the job. I also never got paid for what I worked. FedEx was more organized.

I worked there 36 years and it is a fast pace game both part time for 3 years and 33 in package car delivery ,it is very confusing to start there and they have problems all across the board and yes it is a mess in these hub's but when you were a kid you rode a bike with training wheels but when you got your balance those training wheels came off,in saying this the more reps you put in the job will get better and not only that it's a mind game and I would like to see each of you challenge yourself and be your own cheerleader to push through and keep going ,motivation is between you and you some people don't like to see hard workers makes them look bad it's all a mindset that you must have for your own success,yes it's like a deer in headlights in the beginning but you can do it with a proper mindset ,this is a very tough job no doubt about it like no other ,when it is busy how do you eat an elephant one bite at a time ,one box at a time,success for an individual starts there ,,this will open doors for you to move to several areas within the building of your choosing .you will stay in good shape working there ,you will have benefits working there you can go from part time to full time if you push through and yes it takes a unique individual to get there ,this job gave me my independence to stand on my own 2 feet and provide for a family without a college degree and that's what kept me even going through out the year's and now I am at the summit had enough to retire ,I got into a 401k there plus pension so that I could be my own person and this is my story for those who push through to greatness ,I pray that this message can give many boldness to grab it by the horns so they you can start your success story.
Mr. Hower I'm embarking that road right now. I want to be a truck driver in general, I want to part time for a year, then go to school for my CDL, join a company like swift, get up in experience, then part time for ups and eventually be hired on.
That CDL is the one thing I didn't do at ups but brother that CDL is the golden ticket to a very bright future ,much success to you ,go right your story.

It's sad how things turned out, and maybe your location was a busy one. I had and have a different experience with UPS. I started on Feb 15, 2022, and had a major red flag. The job was advertised as $18/h, but it turned out to be $15/h. Nowhere in the forms and documents you filled out said my salary. On the first day, I got my orientation, and one of the part-time supervisors did it. It was great, very informative, and straight. On my first day, the same supervisor showed me how to unload the brown trucks "brownies" and how to use the assistive equipment. It was simple, and he ensured I got it with a few tries and let me go on a row of aligned-up brownies. It was a bit hard initially, but I quickly got used to it. Also, for the first 15 days, we have mandatory safety training. You arrive 15 minutes before shift for a short training class, regulations, and basic knowledge of how to do your job. Then I got transferred to local sort for about three months or so. Now I'm working on "the wall," loading the trailers. I'm a 5'8 150lb male, but it's not that hard. As time passed, I showed interest in becoming a supervisor, so my building manager set me up for a HAZMAT audit class. The class was super cool, and the instructor was perfect. I've never had a class that I actually enjoyed. Also, they have a tuition assistance program, basically 5k a year and 25k for a lifetime. My tuition is 2k a semester, so it's perfect for me. Now I'm just waiting for a supervisor position to open up. Again, I think you were in the wrong location at the wrong time.
The hourly pay is kind of a scam. They'll say "$20 an hour..." but that's only if you don't miss a shift for the entire week. If you miss any time through the week, even excused, you will go down to a lower pay rate. It's like a "bonus".

I was a former supervisor and package handler at UPS. They don’t care about safety at all. All they care about is numbers and production. Very unprofessional and unorganized.
to outweigh all the negative comments, my experience with the company thus far has been pretty good. I currently work in small sort, I get paid $21/hour, I have one 30-minute break and one 10-minute break (40 minutes in breaks in total), I work in front of a fan pretty much all day, my trainer(s) were super kind, making sure I was okay, made necessary accommodations, and provided reassurance and assistance, my supervisors/teammates have been pretty good on communication and were pretty welcoming, the snacks are SUPER cheap (depending on the day), my shift typically only lasts 5 hours, and it's guaranteed pay (5 days a week, plus they let you work holidays after obtaining seniority for a times and a half, which equates to around $31/hour).

I would recommend the job to those 17-24 y/o, especially given the pay.

Lmao. Hit the nail on the head lol. I haven't worked for UPS (I recently applied for package handler but having 2nd thoughts now. 😆) Seems like Amazon delivery station is easier (my last job). But one thing I hate is when managers or whoever, when you're a new employee, don't tell you everything you need to know; what you should be doing or not doing. Then you end up getting fired for miscommunication. My brother worked at UPS for a while as a loader. But I don't know if he was loading the brown vans or the tractor trailers. I think it was trailers. He's now a truck driver (18-wheeler), but not for UPS.

Had the same experience I did... legit the same things happened to me. No schedule, didn't tell me how to use the scanner cuz I was also logged out and had no number. Almost knocked out my drug addict supervisor. Me and some depressing dude loading a truck, he then disappears. It was just a fucking mess 😂
The positive side to that is they don't micro manage. You're pretty much working alone

Bruh I just got fired today. I had a bitch supervisor and some dude that was helping me suddenly dissapears and leaves me to unload a full truck by myself. I told my supervisor this in a rude way and she responded in a bitchy manner. "You can do it! Better yet, go home and don't come back."
Then I said to her
"Sure I'll leave but now your job is a little harder."
I swear I wanted to hit her so bad. I don't tolerate disrespect from anyone so if you start screaming at me, I'm gonna cuss you out or worse.
