- Welcome to my latest adventure in Kanchanaburi, Thailand! 🇹🇭 Today, I'm taking you along as I explore this amazing place. First up, we're hitting the local morning market bright and early. Mornings are awesome for meeting locals, and I'm excited to chat with some new friends and grab some tasty, affordable food.
But our day isn't all sunshine and rainbows. We're also diving into the history of Kanchanaburi, visiting one of the Death Railway museums. It's a sobering reminder of the tough times this place has seen.

Great job promoting Kanchanaburri, it’s a great place to visit.
I’ll be in your favorite place, Chiangmai for a week in May, I’ll say hello if I see you hanging around. 👍
Thanks Mark! It's a great place. I should be around Chiang Mai in May. Hope to see you around.
glad to see more of these smaller towns around thailand. I stopped over at kanchanaburi last year to visit the deathrail for a couple of hours. Theres a real charm with all these smaller towns; less complications. I went all the way to Sangkhla Buri bordering myanmar and stayed a night there. Highly recommend you to experience that journey.
Nice one! sounds like you had a good time. It's a special place, for sure.
I have always found Kanchanaburi to be a " thin place " somewhere where time isn't separated by much. You can feel the history. So beautiful and calm but a sense of sadness underlying it. There is a lot of falangs there but not like you find in tourist areas and Kanchanaburi is a massive region with so many places to see and explore. Definitely a chilled out place to live 😊
Yes, I agree, it's a strange feeling in Kanchanaburi, but a good one. It feels safe here and at peace. Thanks.
Live your best life man. Kanchanaburi is a good lead. You're living my Thailand life/liberty vicariously for me, so I really want you to enjoy it to the max. God bless Thailand and it's people.
Nice one David 🙏
Wayne, as someone who dreams of and is working their ass off to have the life you live in Thailand your videos are such a bright spot in my day and give me so much to look forward to. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks you Shain! Keep grinding for it mate, you'll be living here one day.
I visited Kanchanaburi in January 24 it was a really lovely place.I was on my way to Chiang Mai.....Back in Sydney Australia now but will be back over that way starting in October cannot wait it is so beautiful over there and love learning the different cultures in SE Asia....Thanks for the vlog keep up the great work...🙂
Thank you John. You was here not long ago then. It really is a special place, I don't want to leave. Hope to see you in Chiang Mai one day. Thanks.
@@WalkAboutWayne When I get back up there I will look you up.🙂
I could happily live there what a pretty little town
This would be a great retirement town. Never perfect.
Small town Thailand is the most beautiful in my opinion. Old buildings, old roads, chill atmosphere.
Yes, I agree.
Nice vlog again fella, everyone falls in love with Kanchanaburi ❤
Cheers Norman! Yes, everyone I've spoke to loves Kanchanaburi.
The Town has a peaceful Ambience, which is good after all the turmoil it went through in the 40's. In regards to street food they say if the oil is dark/burn't when frying food walk away, as the oil has been used for too long. i asked a Thai lady i know what they used before commercial oils came on the scene, Chicken and Pork fat mainly, can't beat food cooked in Lard especially chips.😁
The town has that special feeling, like a safety net over the place. I feel safe and peace here. Yes, some of the oil they use is old. Cheers mate.
Great part of Thailand and not at all surprised that you like it. Nice video. Cheers Wayne 🤩
Cheers mate
I’m glad you are exploring more and it’s growing on you ( I’ve just arrived in Udon Thani today 🤩) - look forward to seeing more , If you go to Hellfire pass it’s a bit of a hike , but it’s free entry ✔️ - Thanks WW 👍👌👋😎🙏
Nice one Ant, I might be in Udon myself soon 👍
Ok Wayne, you found the market. A beautiful ,serene town. Enjoy your stay. I am sure you will return.
That's the plan! I will be returning.
When you get back to Bangkok, you should check out the Royal Thai Air Force Museum. They've got an honest to goodness Spitfire there, and you can get close enough to fondle it. 😁 Also a Harrier jump jet.. I had no idea Thailand had some, until it showed up 3-4 years ago. One of my favorite places to visit in Bangkok, and it's a lot easier to get to since they opened the BTS extension a couple years back. Station just outside the gate!
Nice, the sounds good, something I would be interested in. I'll keep it in mind. 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne Actually, maybe you can do me a favor.. there's a RTAF museum in Chiang Mai, too.. except I haven't seen able to figure out how to get in. They have the remains of a crashed American P-40, shot down during an attack on Chiang Mai airfield. I forget the whole story, but the Thais helped the pilot escape the Japanese. All information I have found is YEARS out of date, I tried to get the folks at the hotel to help but no go. It's on the military side of the airport, there's a guard post and everything. They supposedly open it up to the public once a year. I figure since you live there you might be able to find out something.
@@WalkAboutWayne Actually, maybe you can help me out with something. There's another RTAF museum in Chiang Mai. Among the exhibits is the remains of a crashed American P-40 Warhawk, that was lost after an attack on Chiang Mai airfield. As the story went, the Thais hid the pilot and helped him escape the Japanese. Problem is I have not figured out how to get in. All the information I have found online is highly outdated, all the phone numbers don't work, etc. I tried getting the folks at the hotel to help once, they came up against a brick wall. Perhaps you could ask around? The museum is on the military side of the airport, there's a guard post and everything. I don't think I have ever seen a vlog on it, to date.
@@iskandartaib Sounds like it's the side road that's next to the airport, from how you described. You need a a yearly ticket to go through that road. I've got through a few times without the guard asking. I've never heard that story though, Interesting. I'll try an look more into it.
@@WalkAboutWayne OK thanks! Would love to visit that someday.
I like this Dude ! I am glad I subscribed .. He's Quite the Bobby Dazzler !
😅😆🤣😂
Nice one dude! Bobby Dazzler mate!!

Loving Kanchanaburi, right up my street nice and cheap. Will be on my list on my next visit to Thailand 🙏
Great place. I love it here .
You have to suss out the waterfall in where you are cause.I've been there before and it's beautiful
It's pretty dry at the minute, so I've been told mate. It's not high on my list at this time. I know it's meant to be I e of the best in Thailand though 👍
Wish you woulda gone and found those cats Wayne haha. Sounded like they had something important to say
I'm sure they was trying to warn me about something. 🤣
Is there still a bar there called Get Drunk For 10 Baht? If Chiang Mai didnt exist I'd probably live in Kanchanaburi, great little town and so cheap. I'm like you, i like the war museims.
Never heard of it mate (if your being serious). This is a great town, one of my favorites.
Actually heading to kanchanaburi later today. Lucky enough to have visited many times before, for Armistice day in November and ANZAC day in April as well as other times through the year..
Not that keen on the JEATH museum to be honest, found it tacky, for me the museum next to the cemetery is much more informative and better laid out.
Great vlog once again
Oh nice! Welcome back to Kanchanaburi. I've been to both museums and I found both had pros and cons. I wasn't aloud to film in the death railway one, which I respected of course. Thanks.
Love the morning market and that one looks great. Kanchanaburi definitely in my list for the next trip.
Great place, worth the visit.
I'm a veteran myself so I have immense respect for anyone who serves in their countries military. The thing is you either served ur country as a soldier or you didn't, plain and simple, most men are terrified of the idea of serving so they don't. Great video, love seeing the WW2 depictions. you always seem to find these little nooks and crannies to visit, love it!
Great to read this buddy. I would be terrified but I would if I was called upon. Thanks .
Thanks for this, man. A trip I definitely have to make.
No worries mate. Great town.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing
Thank you 🙏
Very interesting and informative Wayne thanks again for the content really enjoyed it .

Nice one Brendan. Probably a few more interesting than me, but thanks mate.
There are tigers in the forests nearby, if you see one just say ' here kitty kitty' 😮
🤣🤣🤣
@@WalkAboutWayne any tigers in your bedroom yet?
Great Vlog🤙
Thanks !
Nice Place Wayne😊
Great town mate.
Do you ever have rice porridge Wayne with pork it’s called Jok
I never eat Jok mate, I' not a big fan of it. A lot have it for breakfast but I prefer my Oats.
Wayne I watched The bridge over the river kwai film tonight and it’s best swerved. Most of what happened in the film is not true and was released for one reason and that was making ££’s. Cheers for helping me to open my eyes and get the real story 👍
Hey John, I watched it again also. I thought the movie didn't' match up to what I've been seeing and reading with my own eyes for the last week.
@@WalkAboutWayne If you ever go to Cambodia look up S21 and the killing fields in Phnom Penh. It’s another very interesting place and is also another really sad and powerful story mate.
Looks like there is quite a bit to see. Can you do it in one day or would 2 days be better?
I would do at least 2 day. 3 days would be best I think, for the Hellfire Pass also.
@@WalkAboutWayne thanks
Have you ever heard of second hand smoke? I’m a second hand vegetarian. I let animals eat the grass and I eat the animals.
🤣🤣🤣
I think these small towns are great mate if you have a wife or long term partner I think there the places to stay Wayne they have some good shops and produce there Wayne that looks healthy Wayne
They sure do buddy.
I'd visit surin first if i came back to Thailand 😂
Nice, I've not been to Surin yet.
🙃those flowers were magnificent... where is this viet or cam ?
???? It's Thailand
@@WalkAboutWayne oh really , im getting a house there in the near but far future 🙂
my Thai partner says it gets very very hot there
Yes, one of the locals was telling me, it's one of the hottest in Thailand .
