- Hey guys! Today's vlog is super cool because I'm exploring Kanchanaburi, Thailand! I'm walking around the town and sharing my thoughts on whether it's a good spot for expats to retire. Plus, I take you on a 30-minute journey outside of town to check out one of the coolest attractions: the Giant Monky Pod tree! 🌳 Who knew a tree could be so interesting, right? Trust me, this place is totally worth visiting!

Thing is Wayne. If every customer left the air-con running when they left their room. The guest house would have considerably higher electric bills, which would then at some point force the guest house to raise the room rental price.
True. The thing is, the cleaning lady leaves it on also. Not something I always do, but here I've left it on a few times. Cheers 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne Cheers. Another great vlog.
Awesome vlog Wayne! That tree is incredible! Yes a very different place Kanchanaburi… one of a few places I’m yet to discover but definitely on my list now. Cheers mate, all the best!
Cheers mate! It's a great place, very special feel to Kanchanaburi. I'll be sorry to leave. Thanks.
Wow, what a cool tree! Think of the treehouse you could build in that~Swiss family Robinson style. Nice one Wayne ☺️
Thus tree would be a kids dream. I was already thinking where I would put a tree camp 🤣. Cheers mate.
Great viewing mate - easy to get around , keeps getting better - the tree is a Bobby D - Thanks WW 👌😃✔️👋🙏
Nice one Ant. Bobby Dazzler of a day mate.
Quick tip for you Wayne
I take a photo of where i park my bike, then when its time to find it i just google where i took the photo.
After time in Chang Mai and time in Hau Hin , i think its the later will be home for me
Another great vlog mate
Better to pin the nearest shop in maps mate, or even pin the bike. I don't even bother doing that anymore though. Some places I do. Cheers mate.
That is one of the coolest trees I have ever seen, in fact, I'm going to say that is the coolest tree I have ever seen. You have given me yet another reason to visit Konchanaburi, which also gives me a good reason to rent a scooter and go on a scenic drive. I will try and find a full helmet in advance, plus I'll feel safer, as I'm inexperienced.
It was a whopper of a tree, worth the 30 minute ride. Kanchanaburi is a great place to ride a motorcycle, the roads are calm. I'm sure you'll have a great time Dan.
What a great hanging tree. Have a picnic in the shade while others are just "hanging" around.
That would be good mate 🤣. No food under the tree though, I think .
Massive tree that. You are right there being a kid you'd have a ball climbing it for sure. Nice vid Wayne. Cheers buddy. 🤩
They love everything "New York" because folks love American culture! Just look around and you will see American restaurants , American music, American fashion, American sports and such. I know this reality is difficult for some folks to accept but its true. Great video, I love when you find these new places for me to stay, much appreciated.
Don't forget British too 👌
But forget the bolsheviks please.
There was a village near the coconut outpost many tour buses stop at. it seemed like the perfect idyllic Thai village you see in lakorns. I could live there if I get blessings from the elders.
It sounds perfect!! 👍
Wayne it really looks like a relaxing place and it’s some were you could retire to they have bars night life rent is cheaper the food is very cheap there as well it’s a proper Thai traditional place like Bangkok was 30 year ago I think you have found a real Gem 💎 here the Ladies seem nice if you met a local girl from here I think there is more chance of it working out
It's a great place, I wouldn't say 30 years behind though. Good spot for retirees, for sure. Cheap food is everywhere, but things are cheap here. Cheers.
Wow, amazing Vlogs, Wayne. I remember the tiger sanctuary years ago that was notorious!
Thanks! I've heard a few stories about the Tiger place too .
Thanks Wayne! Another awesome vlog!
Cheers Aspen 👌👌
We have some big trees in Texas but not that big. Wow.
This one wasn't the tallest I've seen, but it was the biggest overall. It covered such a wide area. 👍
Wonderful tree mate! Thank you for sharing! Cheers!
Thanks mate ! The tree was a beauty 👍
Thanks man. I just turn aircon on for 30-40 min in the evening before I want to go to sleep. If you are out all day no need to let it run
Yeah but when it's a hotel room, I just leave it on. Of course, I wouldn't do that in my condo in Chiang Mai. Cheers mate .
I got 2 new taylor made dress shirts made in thailand 10 years ago for about 350bht, I still wear them for going out!😊😊
Nice! I think I have a few from years back.
Very interesting vlog Wayne. I might just give that place a go myself. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! It's a great place, well worth a visit 🙏
I love your videos Wayne 💯👌 sorry for the random ❓ but what's the name of your closing theme song. It fits your personality and videos perfectly 👍 Keep living the dream mate✌️. Paddy from Cork
Thanks Patrick! The name of the song should be in the description. It's in the TH-cam song library too. I've just switched to this song for my closings. I agree, I think this one fits my vlogs better. Thanks.
Awesome 😎 keep up the great work 🙏💯
Well done Wayne, just keep on dazzling with your videos.😊🇹🇭
Thank you mate 👍👍
It could definitely be a retirement place. Especially if the visa requirements were to be less of a pain in the neck. The fact that’s it’s reasonably close to BKK makes it doable
I'm sure they have a immigration here, but the ease of getting into Bangkok does make it better.
That tree is amazing, definitely putting that on my must see list.
It's a good place to visit, I enjoyed myself, considering it was just a tree.
Hell of a tree , but the part i like is the footage of the bike ride , with all the empty roads and hardly any people . 👍
Cheers mate! I like doing road footage , it breaks up the vlog nicely . 👍
Mate
I love the tree , very impresive
She was a beauty mate 👍
Never thought you would do a vlog about a tree but it turns out you did a Bobbie Dazzler of a vlog. Beautiful!
Thanks Dean! I guess it wasn't to bad for a tree vlog 🤣. It was a good day out.
Cool place cheers Wayne
Cheers mate 👍
Now that's what I call a tree!
She was a beauty 🤩
Ok Wayne , you found the clock tower area & the tree. It's a great liveable town is Kan. Enjoy & stay safe man.....stay safe.
Cheers buddy 🍻
I've been to the big tree about 10 years ago, before the walkways and fences were there. Looks nicer now. Good place to visit.
Nice! It does look like they're adding more and more stuff around the tree. It was a good afternoon.
if u r into "history" you should do/go to the hellfire pass as well..!
enjoy/have fun!
cheers
Yes mate, I will be. Cheers 👍
You can't beat an Aerox Wayne, best thing I've bought here👌
...ah, the Yamaha Aerox 155
I think I prefer Yamaha over Honda. This Aerox was so nice to ride.
Great to see these places Wayne. Thanks very much for bringing us along!
Thank you John 👍
That tree is a true beauty and very huge. We should have more respect for nature
She was a beauty 👍
You’re added another facet to life in Kanchanaburi Wayne !
Cheers Paul 👍
Hello Wayne can I do khantanaburi in 3 days or 4? Greetings Alexander
Hi Alexander, yes most people do 3 or 4 days in Kanchanaburi.
Wayne they have a bar there B-road there big beer 🍺 pint for 80 baht and a bar called 19 th hole 🕳️ 😂 you may get a hold in one 😂 but it seems a lovely place
Nice one 👍
Either twin tub or a washer dryer combo?
Yes, I think your right. It must have been a twin washer/Dryer
🤣🤣🤣 You made me laugh with the cows.
That's the Southwest of England in me 🤣. Farmer Boy .
More of the simple life there mate!
Yes, very simple and chilled mate.
Please do a few condo reviews from there
I'm hoping to look at at least one place .
I may check this place out over song gran. I went to Hua Hin last week and spent one night in the city and two nights in Pranburi to the south. Hua Hin kind of sucked, really congested, expensive low quality rooms and the sheer volume of retired guys mulling around was kind of awkward. Pranburi was better but it seems to be kind of weekend getaway location for Bangkok people and there were lots of loud annoying crowds. I got one really nice hotel with a private beach for 2200 baht and I would recommend ("minitel by the sea"). All the rooms under 2000 were underwhelming, which is crazy because in the north a 1000 baht room always suits me just fine. I think you need to get more south to get some better vibes. Won't be going back.
Sorry to hear that mate. I liked Hua Hin, it was nice and chilled when I was there. Hope you find somewhere you like 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne I was surprised too. The airport was great though. So easy to get through.
bobby dazzler of a tree !
Absolute Bobby Dazzler!! 🌳🌳
How’s the air quality compared to Chiang Mai? Many weed shops? 😉
Better air than Chiang Mai, but still pollution in Kanchanaburi. Yes, seen a fair few weed shops 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne great news, mate. Cheers!
You might think Chiang Mai gets hot in the summer, Kanchanaburi is on another level.
Youre still plugging away? ! you'll be at 500,000 subscribers before toooo long. 👊
I dunno about that mate 🤣 but thanks.
19:20 coffee??
Never touch the stuff
Wayne I was a tree surgeon that tree I say that tree is more than 100 years old oak trees can live up to 800 years Wayne
Nice. I don't know mate, I was reading it from online.
According to a few sources Monkey Pod trees last 80 to 100 years and can grow up to 5 feet a year! Incredible ...
Kanchanaburi is the city where Thai people go for river cruise ,waterfall etc. Search for 50 places to go in Kanchanaburi.
They sure do 👍. I stay away from those lists normally buddy.
Have you ever hired a small car with aircon ? The girlfriend not so keen on getting on the back of a ped ... after I came off one in kamala :(
I've never had a car in Thailand. Bike is just easier for me in the city. A car would be great though 👍
11:30 - now THERE is a Chinese graveyard.. 😁
What an amazing setting for a cemetery.
@@WalkAboutWayne They're usually up in the hills. In general, the larger the tombs the richer the people, and those were huge! The really big Chinese cemetery in KL has huge tombs around the top of the hill and by the time you get to the bottom they're fairly small.. kinda what it's like in life, I suppose. Ordinary people live in apartments, the rich have mansions. I'll bet there are a number of them in the hills around Chiang Mai, given the large ethnic Chinese population up north.
@@iskandartaib There in the city in Chiang Mai mate, just north of Chang Phueak, and a few other places. 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne Yeah, that's a fairly small one. Near the fire station. And near Pantip Plaza (though I don't remember seeing many Chinese graves there). It's gotten pretty commercialized here.. big companies and large amounts of money involved.. ads in the paper, etc. 😁
Thanks for that , I was wondering what they were 🙏
That tree would be safe in Devon, the kids are well behaved, not like here in London 😅
Damn no, it would be down in no time! This is logging country.
U have to go to water fall m8 Ware u are😂😂😂
it's dried up, so I was told. One guy in town said it was a waste of time. 👍
The best place for expats is OUT of Thailand.
This is a Thailand channel 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne I used to be there. It's interesting while it lasts.
I don't think I've seen such a big tree 😊
She was a beauty 🤩
