Poetry and rap can be intertwined in definition. Eminem’s “The Way I Am” is basically a poem in its verses, which are actually in the poetic meter Iambic Tetrameter. But most call it rap. Even though it can, by definition, just be called poetry with a dank beat layered over it.
Just saw Milo on your top plays on Last FM, and remembered hearing one of his songs on your podcast. Listening to the album on spotify now. Great stuff.
I checked it out and it was cool... Very different unique type of sound. All in all i appreciate you introducing me to unknown artist and giving them some shine... When i finish my project hopefully you'll look out.
Milo’s first two EP’s where ok but he was holding out, beats, lyrics, everything got an upgrade, I hope he keeps this production style other than Jazz-Rap, Atmospheric Hip-Hop is my favorite sub-genre the only problem with this sub-genre is most people try to turn Atmospheric Hip-Hop into “high off cough syrup and weed hip-hop” these two EP’s will be getting a lot of replay, loved them.
I enjoyed these ep's very much so, and I agree with your opinion on them. I especially loved the opening song on the "day" ep, love the fact he samples Bon Iver's creature fear. Thank you very much for introducing this project to me and have a great day ;-)
He's taking a more spoken words approach here, that's definitely not for everyone. But how I see it, Milo is trying put emphasis on what he says through the spoken words flow, especially the self-confessional parts. It creates a more emotional feeling IN MY OPINION
The physical version is no longer obtainable, at least not as of right now. Earlier, Milo had 25 pre-orders of his mixtapes up, all coming with a few personal items from Milo -- Poem, letter, merchandise, etc -- which were sold out.
yeah, he released a limited edition set which included a cassette, some glossy artwork postcard things, a lyric booklet and a handwritten note for $25 i think.
I thought Things That Happen at Day flowed together much better as a whole, but they were both great. I can't wait to see where his future releases take him.
i would love to see an album review for On Letting Go by Circa Survive. i know it's not exactly a new album, but it's one of my favorites and it's definitely worth a listen. thanks, Ed
Cal's beats are getting better and better. I wouldn't be surprised if Anthony eventually drops some kind of project under a stage name in the near future... I'm onto you.....
Milo is pretty amazing. all i can find is his bandcamp, I thought it was easier to get your stuff on Itunes. damn, still paid the easy 10$ for these EP's - I want more..
I really wish you'd do a review of 13 & God's self titled album. Awesome music with great lyrics. The whole album as a really dark/light vibe where some tracks can be sinister and almost scary and others be really warm and inviting. Whether or not you do a review video, I wish you'd at least give the song "Ghostwork" a listen. Looking forward to your next review! +1 for more Miles Davis
Good review. I'd agree that Milo's really stepped up the production choices in general, but he's always had quirky, drawn out hooks. I guess it's just part of him, stylistically. I loved these EPs ^^
Woooooooooow I could help but to notice, you have an extremely rare copy of Kraftwerk's "Trans Europe Express"!! I remember everyone going absolutely bananas when that album came out.. LOL.. I am so impressed. Keep up the good work!!
i wish they did, but they don't. I just know that you've reviewed older albums before, and I thought it'd be cool if you reviewed floating world. thanks for the reply, by the way! i should probably listen to this set.
this guy ain't a rapper he's a god dam philosopher, thanks for introducing me to him.
RIP KING CAPITAL
i would have given the first ep a light 9 and the 2nd a strong 7 to a light 8.
thank you anthony :)
Who The fuck do you think you are yo refute mellon's opinion Mellon?

Cal is channeling Flatlander in the beginning
HOLY SHIT CAL THAT BEAT. DAMN SON WHERED YOU FIND THIS.
Weed Wizard it literally beat damn
Im loving this and toothpaste, Milo deserves so much more recognition.
Milo is a pretty good guy. I wrote his album a positive review on tumblr and he sent me a message thanking me.
THAT BEAT CAL WAS PLAYING WAS FIRE
very Death Grips-esque
***** I'd say more Lock Your Doors because of the background noise. STAY NOIDED
can this even be called rapping? sounds more like poetry over a hip hop beat.
spoken word...
ok sounds like spoken words over a hip hop beat then.
+Persona Rhythm And Poetry

pretty limited definition of what "rapping" means
its always sad to see that Antony's least fav track is my favorite..

I was hoping you'd review this. Made my day.
Really like this double EP after checking it out. Awesome!

THINKING ABOUT IT.
I can't wait to see what tracks Cal produces this year.
He's taking a more spoken words approach here, that's definitely not for everyone. But how I see it, Milo is trying put emphasis on what he says through the spoken words flow, especially the self-confessional parts. It creates a more emotional feeling IN MY OPINION
Yo! That beat at the beginning that Cal is playing is DOPE!
Post hoc ergo propter hoc is easily the best track from this EP set
it'll get a mention this week.
I just got it last night, thank you Fantano, thank you. now I can support you with this pin Fanchesta 2012!!!
The physical version is no longer obtainable, at least not as of right now.

i sit down and listen. i may take a pee break or do some research on the artist meanwhile.
already did, bro.
SUCH a great twist on his style so far, but still keeping those thought-provoking lyrics
= my two cents
that one may get a mention this week.
omg thx.

no idea. :-(
This is an amazing two mixtape, worth your money if you into deep beats and some classy lyrics
It was refreshing to hear a rapper say that they realize they arent the best rapper in the world.
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING ME ON TO MILO
That intro of Cal really showed some Death Grips influences. I wonder where he got em
re-release on vinyl out soon.
she's got a 2013 album on the way?
rory said he might make some more tapes soon. also he mentioned that hellfyre club might announce a vinyl pressing.

Cal's bit at the beginning was dope.
Good review. I'd agree that Milo's really stepped up the production choices in general, but he's always had quirky, drawn out hooks. I guess it's just part of him, stylistically. I loved these EPs ^^
anthony, you should totally review an Anathallo album (preferably Floating World)

The best thing about sleeping on milo is having a good back catalog to listen to.
