- Dark Aspects of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Episode III) unearths the inspiration behind the unearthly alien invaders of Romani Ranch known only as “them”, or “ghosts”. This is a look at the adversity some of the best characters in the game suffer with--from the down on her luck ranch manager Cremia caring for her younger sister Romani & their inherited livestock, to the dejected troupe leader Gorman (who left his notorious twin brothers for a chance at a better life).

I remember this pretty well though it seemed to me for a while that the aliens performed something like a lobotomy. That might be too dark for a Zelda game but then again Zelda was never afraid to go dark especially for a Nintendo property. Got to give credit for the holiday season plan of let's go investigate ghostly like beings that became the template for the darkest Zelda game
For sure--that's a very "stereotypical" alien thing to do, along with the cattle abductions. Romani certainly has all of the symptoms of a scrambled brain...the game of course wouldn't have been able to spell that out or explicitly show it, so they just had to heavily imply it!
@@ThaneGaming that is a pretty brilliant and screwed up way to get around censorship. I also really appreciate the depressing ending of the Deku Butler and his son where no matter what the player does the son is still gone with his father now depressed as he sees what's become of his son
@@christopherballero866 That's really one of the more depressing moments in the game. The 100% completion end credits imply to me that a timeline exists in which Link went back and helped everyone, then defeated Majora. There's no helping the Deku Butler and his son though, as the latter's death occurred before the three-day time loop Link can manipulate. It's also sad to imagine the Goron and Zora peoples' lives after the game ends--Link saved them all under the guise of the respective tribes' heroes (Darmani & Mikau), but they'll inexplicably vanish again once he leaves Termina...
@@ThaneGaming I never even thought of the idea that the Deku Butler nor his son could be saved at least in theory. I presumed that after the credits most were happy as the game heavily implies that almost everyone was happy except for the: Deku Butler & his son and perhaps the third Gorman brother. I didn't even recognize the possibility that the Gorons & Zoras could still get wiped out

Admittedly i started happily singing the lonlon ranch song out loud at the start of this somber video discussing 2 sisters' struggles against alien abductions and facing impending planet level doom. It's too catchy

You know what? I found out what those ghost aliens are in game! You can find this information about monster sightings when you cure Pamella’s Father in the Music Box House! After you heal him and go back to the house, there will be posters of monsters and he’ll share info! Also show him your monster masks! Great video!

Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask and Oracle of Ages are the darkest
Is Oracle that dark? I've admittedly only played up until the first dungeon. I'll have to give it another go, it's still installed on my 3DS!

Wind Waker is pretty dark too. It's just disguised ss bubbly due to the art style
@@ChambersofMyHeart for sure, that's the next Zelda game on my list for this series! Even just the concept of Hyrule having been drowned out by the Goddesses in the absence of a hero because it was the only way to stop Ganon...
There's also Link's Awakening--lots of Zelda games have darker elements than you'd expect 😅

@@bathilra5364 Haha you got that right! It's really funny that Fangamer is here too, there are a lot of EB fans that live in this city 😅 there's a giant mural of the "War Against Giygas" opening on the side of their building. I drive by it often!
