Watching it as an adult, it's surprising how creepy this game was or how menacing the moon formed that I hadn't noticed as a wee child. It's like the moon gets more and more twisted as time passes by, I think I would shit my pants if that was coming down at me from the sky like that o-o

This is probably one of the scariest theme in a zelda game imagine you're just chilling at your house and then all of a sudden you look around and you see people panicking running away as the moon is closing into the earth you wanna escape too but you have this feeling that tells you to stand still and stare at the moon and accept your fate, everyone you knew and love are probably thinking the same thing

I really like the change of tone at 0:35, it’s like the second one, but sped up, a little cheerish, but also fast-paced, it’s like it’s telling you that there’s still hope, but you have to H U R R Y U P. This sentence can be sad in different contexts, at the end of the song, it just stops, implying that now, there is no hope left

It's even creepier if you hear the song with headphones, theres a very subtle eerie undertone playing.

Got this game after being obsessed with Ocarina of Time. Thought it would be a joyful adventure.
My teenage self was not expecting the heavy themes of existential dread and grief, not including the horror of a child being snuffed out by a wall of apocalyptic fire.
The final song it's the end of hope. When you understand that everything was for nothing and it's over now. It's the end and there is nothing we can do. That's how death is...

@@katylepetsos7512 I think that what scares us the most is the unknown. This feel of hopeless that we have when we don't know what is going to happen, how is gonna be... But for me, I think that when the time comes and we see that there is no escape, we just accept and then there is just peace, the peace of nothing. The same peace that we have before we were born. So it's not too scary, we were there before...

When i was like 8, i used to have dreams about Majora's Moon falling onto my house
ooof yea thats traumatizing. ive had a few nuclear war dreams right in front of my house where as soon as the blast got to the house i woke up freaking out. this is as an adult im 27. happened to me a few years ago

I always felt really sad and bummed out about all the townspeople you grow to love and help and their looming fate..but this game never scared me on a primal level..as link you felt as the hero everything would be alright even if you were surrounded by the dark

@@alderChristianHarten yeah, I kinda liked the old one better. The face also looked less exaggerated, and the fact it turned red on the final night actually looked better, and emphasized it was starting to burn in the atmosphere.
This music was so beautiful.
I think both had their merits, but one thing I always preferred about the original is how on the 3rd day, you can actually notice the sun is starting to rise during the final hour. Adds to the tension of knowing you're running out of time, while the 3ds version insinuates danger and impending doom with its sky

There’s something so horrifying about this particular game over.
Sure you have other games where link faints or his body goes limp as he dies, but nothing is as scary as watching a rapidly approaching eruption of such magnitude, the clouds are displaced like leaves on the wind and your body is lifted by the ensuing force of destruction.

My dad showed me this game when I was 7 without telling me the context of it all and I didn't really get the idea that you had to find the ocarina of time to rewind so you can save clock town but my 7 year old brain found it funny when the moon killed everyone. I didn't even register their denial or fear and the ringing of the bell showing panic, the fact everyone was just standing there given up and waiting for it to happen. This is probably one of the darkest Zelda games created.

A kid's game.
... I love this game so damn much, first played it as a kid and everything, but with every rewatch I become more understanding of the creator saying he's been feeling somewhat ashamed or shocked and uneasy about the fact that he made this game. Maybe a lot of the adult themes fly over kid's heads, but the imagery and tone is still there.
Very risky release, and clearly a product of many circumstances, one of them being stressed creators not being given the time and breathing room to second guess. They just let it out and took what was in front of them.

Actually, I think I might know what the moon represents, I was thinking because since legend of Zelda was creating my Nintendo which originated in Japan, and Japan is also famous for? Well the three main Places Tokyo, Nagasaki, Hiroshima. And I think that the moon is supposed to Represent the bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and that everyone was just minding their own business when they see that time ran out and that they faced death, by being crushed by the moon and which represents the bomb by everyone dying everything being erased from the world. So I think Nintendo tried sending out a message showing that their never going to forget that day, and now their giving us that exact same feeling putting us in links view on how it looked like when everyone saw that moon represented as the bomb. I don’t know if I’m right but if I am, Damn I might as well be a teacher, But that’s just a theory a Game Theory!!!
Thats very possible. Godzilla originally was supposed to represent those bombs as well so your theory might legitimately be correct.
That's a possible influence... additionally, the three day time limit to save Termina represents the stress Aonuma and the development team faced trying to finish the game in one year, Aonuma said he had nightmares of not finishing the game on time

Correct me if I'm wrong plsss,but if I remember you could go on top of a slide near the little green guy attached to the balloon and play the ocarina to trigger the moon really early
I want to make a game, sort of PS2 era like… a platformer taking inspiration from Jak and Daxter, there’ll be a falling meteor, like this moon, targeting the City, which you will put a stop to about half-way through the game, so theirs an invisible timer starting the moment you finish the tutorial and there’s no attention drawn to it, maybe NPC’s commenting on its appearance on the sky from time to time. But unless you look up at it, you probably wouldn’t know it’s there.
When it finally gets closer, if you’re in the city at the time the residents are screaming and panicking, running to hide and stuff like that.
If you are on the outskirts looking in, you see these watchtowers firing projectiles at it, desperately hoping that their attacks destroy it or will stop it descending.
Then when it hits, the game over screen would be you crawling out of rubble and while injured walking slowly in a wasteland, to which you just have to reload a save as there’s nothing there and your character can no longer run and jump.
But there’s something foreboding about how slowly it comes, which I would have. (I would also want it to have a creepy face but that’s too much of the same thing).
