Magsafe Battery Pack: a very modest battery boost

  • Today we are coving the Apple Magsafe battery pack and the way that it works with newer iphones after the latest firmware update. Apple updated the battery pack so that there can be faster phone charging without having to do anything special to the battery pack. For this video, the tests of the battery are done with an iPhone 13 Pro.
    Intro Music:

    Here is a compatibility list for the Magsafe Battery Pack: iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 or later
    The capacity for the Apple Magsafe Battery pack is 1460 mAh which is a lot less than some other battery banks like Anker and Mophie. The play that Apple went for in this case is to have a battery pack that is very portable and does not add a lot of weight to your iPhone.
    You can use this pack with devices other than iphones, as it still works as a wireless charger otherwise. The best use of this battery pack is going to be through the use of magsafe as there will be the best performance.
    Depending on the iPhone model, or smartphone model in general you will see that there is a decent addition to the smartphone battery.
    I think that Apple wanted to have this be a small extension of your iphone battery that you can take with you and not have it be very heavy. Your iphone battery can vary depending on the iphone that you have. The smaller iphone you have like an iPhone 12 mini or an iphone 13 mini then the iphone battery will be smaller. In this case the capacity of the magsafe battery pack makes up a greater percentage of the iPhone battery.
    You will see diminishing returns with the larger iPhone models like the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. This is because the batteries on these iPhones are a lot larger and the magsafe battery pack will not provide a large amount of power to these iPhones.
    This can provide a decent amount of convenience as there is the portability of a battery bank and the convenience of a lack of cables with wireless charging. This makes for a setup where you can snap it to the back of your phone.

    Unlike 3rd party pack, the Apple one has thermal protection for the device and battery.
    It’s should be considered a battery extender and not a charger.
    If the iPhone or battery gets hot, the battery will lower or stop its output to prevent damage

    I actually liked the battery pack when I was using it with a iPhone 12 Mini at 89% battery health. It really was the difference between charging in the afternoon and all day battery life.

    Picked it up from Verizon for $75 and love it. I used it to charge my 12 Pro Max and got 48% more juice. It works even better on a fully charged phone

    Most ppl use it wrong (including me before) if u know u gonna have a long day without having a chance to charge, u might wanna use it while ur phone at 100% or around 90% uncheck the two options „Low Poer Mode“ & „Charge Past 90%“ and u gonna be surprised how long ur iphone will last. Cheers :)

      @@ukgamingfh5 Well the thing is, this battery pack is managing the heat. So technically no it wont damage the battery. The capacity will probably go lower ofcourse, since you are creating cycles. But i dont wanna confuse u with that. Im using my Magsafe battery pack now for couple months and my iphone went from 97% to 93% Capacity. Which is pretty fine with (for) me.

    I was between anker 622 and this apple one, at the end i bought the apple one just for the Cooled thing, the anker is lava to your phone, and nothing about getting hot is good for your phone... If you have a 1200us phone try to bought evertything for their health.
    The correct use of the Battery Pack will give you 2 days of normal-heavy use to your iPhone (in my case the 13 pro max).

    I needed to see this! I’m hoping to travel to tropical countries, I game a lot on my phone, and yeah it totally gets very hot sometimes. I can’t have a situation where my phones hot and basically just going to die because I only brought this battery with me to charge it. I mean what if I go to a club in Bangkok at night and it dies while I’m waiting outside for a taxi bc the phone is too hot

    Have you tried have both 100% and having it attached to the iPhone the whole day? I assume that the iPhone external battery will be what the iPhone uses first and then the internal battery.

    • @okKody
      @okKody  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The phone will drop down to 90% while the pack stays at 100%. Then the pack will keep the phone close to 90% unless it either gets warm or runs out of power

    Can anyone help me figure out this Apple MagSafe Battery Pack issue I’m having? I’ve noticed when using the battery pack, it can go two ways. 1) The phone battery will drop down from full charge to 91% and then switch to use the battery from the battery pack. 2) The phone battery will stay at 100% but will constantly drain the battery pack. I definitely prefer the first one because the battery pack will last me much longer throughout the day from what I’ve noticed. Both my iPhone and battery pack are updated and this happens without me clicking the battery icon in the control center to switch between “low power mode” and “charge past 90%”. Has anyone else had similar experiences with their Apple MagSafe battery pack?

    • @okKody
      @okKody  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have actually run into this issue myself. It took a few tries, but I tried turning the "charge past 90%" on and off a few times then I let the phone battery go below 90% (like 82 or something) then when I put the pack back on it didn't go past 90%.
      I am not sure which of those things actually fixed it but it took a little bit of trying both. Let me know if that helps!

      Mine constantly will stop charging at 91% then drops go like 89-88% then back up to 91 and does this iver and over again and the battery pack is dying so fast.

    • @okKody
      @okKody  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It updates automatically on the back of the iPhone. It takes a while to do so, if you don't leave it on for a long period of time then it may not update, but it is hard to be certain.
      Also don't plug it into either a Mac or iPad as that will update the battery pack as well.

    • @okKody
      @okKody  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Currently the iPhone SE doesn't have MagSafe, so the pack will charge it, but it won't stay on like it would on some other iPhones. Keeping the coils lined up may be a little tricky.

    Well it’s because you using the charger wrong you using it like a Juice pack .
    Is a battery extender it holds your phone to a certain charge all for example if I charge my phone and left the house my phone is on 100 percentage.
    If I put the charger on my phone it will hold around 91 or 92 percent until the Apple charge died .
    Using the MagSafe with no charger is not a good idea .
    Because is not gonna hold or fit . And this is not just with the Apple brand I have 6 MagSafe chargers .
    B4 I got my Apple MagSafe .
    I am always on the road because of my job .
    And I can honestly say Apple MagSafe charger. Works better then them all because .
    My phone never gets hot .
    While using Apple brand .
    Stop letting people lie to y’all because they don’t understand .
    The proper way to use a smart battery not Juice pack a Juice pack will charge your phone to a 100 but it will also .
    Harm your battery life over time .
