I got to test mine out quite thoroughly for a week while on vacation, and I think it's a must-have for the 12 Mini. Really handy while out and about without a phone charger. Yes, the charge is slow when compared to something like a power bank, but it's much smaller and lighter and you can use your phone very easily while it's charging since there's no cord. I've personally found that the best way to use it is to slap it on your phone when you're at a full charge, not when your battery is low. This way you're using the brick's power first, instead of slowly charging a dead phone. While I don't see the practicality of a QI battery brick for regular day-to-day use (I have chargers at my desk and in my car), I do think it's great for situations where you may not have access to an outlet (hiking, beach, airport, etc). The reverse charging feature is nice since you can charge your phone and the brick at the same time with one lightning cable. I think that feature alone makes it easy to justify the apple version over a 3rd party. Overall I'm happy with it and I recommend it.

When you use normal wireless charging you do not use the phone whilst doing it. This is the presumption if you use the MagSafe battery pack and is clearly sensible. I think people have misunderstood what this is, it is not to compete with a normal USB battery pack. @@megaz2338 I will suggest getting the MagSafe battery pack. It has worked wonders for me. I use my iPhone 12 Mini as normal then when it hits around 30-40% battery life I will stick on the MagSafe battery before using the phone until the battery pack is completely depleted thereafter removing it. I can average 8.5-9 hours of screen on time and that’s mostly video, instant messaging and web browsing. My Mini lasts me the entire day now which is amazing!
When the MagSafe Battery Pack is plugged in to a wired charger, can I functionally use it just like the MagSafe wireless charger for my phone overnight?
How many times is MagSafe battery pack said? BTW if you use the MagSafe battery pack and mini like I do this allows you to have the same amount of battery usage as the 12 pro max. 100 bucks well worth it for the magsafe battery pack.
I prefer the Apple one and with the Apple silicone case or Apple leather case , magnet is strong. Also I have a cheaper and double sized aftermarket MagSafe battery but it makes the iPhone hot and overheats it.
I am thinking of changing my Otterbox Defender to the Cyprus Green Apple Silicone case & picking up the MagSafe battery pack to freshen up my 12 Mini. @@FreshVibez77 No. I kept my 12 Mini and bought the battery pack. It’s amazing… doubles the battery life. I can use this thing all day now without having to worry about the battery.
@@Bendaak thanks for the reply..sorry for asking..is it continue to charge the phone when using normal task like streaming music or browsing?and do you used it when the phone battery low or 100?

I will then keep the charger on until it is fully depleted and no longer charging the phone. Once it is depleted, I will remove the charger from the phone and put it in my pocket. To answer your question - the charger does charge when you are using your phone to stream music or videos. Sometimes the 5w charge will fail to charge the phone as quickly as the battery is being used but so it may sit at a specific % as the battery usage is breaking even. This normally happens when you are steaming a video using your cellular network. If you are just browsing and listening to music, it should continue to charge. All in all, I think this is a very good charger and it has totally changed the way I use my Mini on a day to day basis.
Yes! I prefer it to not be a full charge. I prefer the battery percentage always to be half charged or lesser. So this battery pack is pretty high for me. I’m satisfied already :)
I use it on my XR with a MagSafe case. The feels good on a bigger iPhone. I also have a 13 mini. The only downside when using an iPhone that's older than a 12 is that the features for the battery doesn't work. I can't keep the battery pack from charging only to 90% or pass it. Also, there's not battery indicator nor power meter on the iPhone when attached.
I have one, it doesn’t charge my pro max like it should. I think that’s because the pro max is already so good. I wish I could return it. Missed the window.
Yeah, it works, if you're not using it, but there's really not enough juice there to do anything besides tread water while using it. In fact, on the iPhone 12 and the 12 Pro Max, it can actually lose battery life while charging. I'll have more on this in the full written review. But I see this as more of a device to use while not using your device.
I’m in the same boat. I find it better to place it on when already at 100% and ride it out that way. I’ve also thought about purchasing a second and just swapping them out when done, but that’s overkill.

Is there some reason they can’t just build a wireless charger into a case instead of this over the top ubertech solution of building a magnet into the phone and the charger, which is likely to fall off and get lost eventually anyway? I have a great case which never falls off. No magnets necessary.
They talk about the performance but fail to mention the downside of your iPhone battery using a third party charger..I will always use Apple branded products because of the integration.
this charger isn't about the speds or the capacity it gives, simply, imagine it being like an iPhone battery case like back in the day. It acts as an extender to supplement the normal iPhone battery

Everyone seems to misunderstand this product. This product ensures that your iPhone doesn’t get overcharged in order to protect the internal battery. That’s huge. It’s also a MagSafe charger plugged in that does the full 15 watts of charging - something other brands don’t do. That’s $40 for a standalone puck usually.
I went with the apple one because I would rather have one specifically designed for my phone on a hardware and software perspective rather then the other 2 options
I watched 3 Videos and got 3 different infos for the situation when the Battery Pack is Pluged in and connected to the iPhone. 1. Charges phone first to 100%, then the battery pack, no matter the charge on either. 2. Charges battery pack first. When you plug in the phone, it charges the phone first and the battery pack afterwards through reverse wireless. 3. Charges simultaneously and when the battery pack is at 80%, it prioritizes the phone. Can anybody help who tried it out?
idk if mine is faulty but definitely wasn’t worth it. charges extremely slow, don’t even know if it is charging, battery drains more than actually charging while it’s attached.
You got the apple battery wrong it’s essentially just the apple battery case except it’s removable meaning it’s best used with a fully charged phone and now it can last you two years 🤷🏾♂️so technically apple made it cheaper. Not to mention the fact that old battery cases were more then 99$ and they only fit that specific iPhone
I used the MagSafe Battery pack playing golf and it was barely charging the iPhone while I was using a golf app while playing. the iPhone's battery even reduced in charge while the MagSafe was connected. Both the MagSafe and iPhone were almost dead with the iPhone at 10% charge.
They ended up updating it to support 7.5W charging so it should be better. The way it updates is pretty stupid though. You can either use it with your phone for a few weeks or plug it in with Lightning to USBC to an iPad or Mac for 15 minutes.
That iPhone 2G / Battery pack shot was clean. Woulda been nice to see a classic iPod in there, battery looks more like it. I feel the design was ripped straight from the iPod design
If you have an IPhone 12 or 12pro. It sounds like you would be better off just using a Standard Wired Battery Bank if you want a full charge. The MagSafe battery Bank would be good if you just needed the extra battery capacity during the day that it would bring. In the end I think the MagSafe would be the one that I would go for. Especially, when you are on Vacation and don’t have access or time to recharge the Iphone. On a day to day basis use I usually have a charging source available. Either at my desk, car, or home.
There is another Anker battery pack which is a bit nicer than the one that you showed on here and it has a stand it’s called to go Anker battery pack or something like that
What people fail to realize is how often will your phone be at zero? Also, the MagSafe pack is perfect when you are down to 10~15%. What also isn’t discussed is how these third party batteries do damage to your phone battery over time. Staying within the ecosystem is a smart choice and helps your battery health. I don’t like the word “significantly cost more”. Significant is a strong world. Does it cost more? Yes. But it’s not significant.
It’s like twice as much which is significant. I agree with sticking to the ecosystem though. I never use 3rd party products with my iPhone 12 Mini. Even my chargers are all Apple branded. I pay through the nose for all of this crap though 🤣.
The MagSafe isn’t suppose to be used like that. Your suppose to slap on a 100% charged MagSafe on a 100% charged iPhone and use iPhone until MagSafe dies. When MagSafe dies you’ll have 90% iPhone. battery

I chose the Magsafe pack and happy with it!
Are they not making the smart cases anymore for newer models? I’m assuming this is the replacement.
this is also like a normal mag safe i think
Will the battery pack work with a non oem
Apple case?
As long as it’s a MagSafe case yes. I own a MagSafe case that isn’t made by apple and it works great!
When the MagSafe Battery Pack is plugged in to a wired charger, can I functionally use it just like the MagSafe wireless charger for my phone overnight?
i love that this video is in hdr
This was the most useful video for info about the MagSafe battery pack all over the interweb
How many times is MagSafe battery pack said? BTW if you use the MagSafe battery pack and mini like I do this allows you to have the same amount of battery usage as the 12 pro max. 100 bucks well worth it for the magsafe battery pack.
Can you charge the magsafe battery pack on a wireless charger?
Nope.
hi can be use for iPhone 11?
can u link the site to buy the blu cover ?
Does this works with iphone xs max as well?
I prefer the Apple one and with the Apple silicone case or Apple leather case , magnet is strong.
Also I have a cheaper and double sized aftermarket MagSafe battery but it makes the iPhone hot and overheats it.
I am thinking of changing my Otterbox Defender to the Cyprus Green Apple Silicone case & picking up the MagSafe battery pack to freshen up my 12 Mini. Had this phone for a year and a half now and I have a massive urge to upgrade to the 13 Mini. Changing things up and fixing the battery problem will add 2 more years to this thing.
@@Bendaak so do you upgrade to 13 mini ?planning to pick up this apple battery pack for my mini..
@@FreshVibez77 I will tell you how I use it. I normally use my phone as normal and once I hit 30-40% charge I will attach the MagSafe charger.
Really you're pulling a 'Just works' in this review. Well played.
Great demos of how well they all stay attached! 👏
Does airbuddy 2 works on ios/macos beta 15? Just purchased it and it cant detect my airpods
Great video comparing products. Helped me make a decision.
i wonder if they will come out with a 13 pro version of the anker
Thank you, now i know what to buy
I don’t care about a full charge tho. It just help you get through the day. Not a battery replacement
Yes! I prefer it to not be a full charge. I prefer the battery percentage always to be half charged or lesser. So this battery pack is pretty high for me. I’m satisfied already :)
bro if i factory reset my iphone will my esim will erase?
Does this actually work on iPhone X? I know it s old. I only use at my shop so I can move around without the cable
@@elchamber im using iphone 11. so it still charge phone past 90? in older than iphone 12, does the low power mode option doesn't show any other mode?
Currently I swap it with my Anker when drained.
@@ABPreach81 I should have gone with that one!
We bought the Anker and it’s already boxed up for a refund, ours was junk & it didn’t give much charge to the phone at all.
Things can be faulty ask for another.
@@DisneyMarkUK You do know things are faulty sometimes lol. I have a Anker power bank I got ages ago. Amazon reviews were showing it wouldn’t charge properly mine was fine and still is.
Yes it’s worth it 😎
You again?!
Good cuz I ordered it allready 😂😂
No it isn't
@@olivertoh2380 why not ?
Does it work for iphone X?
I’ve been using my iPhone 12 Mini for a year and a half and the battery is starting to let me down as it’s at 85% the original capacity. Tempted to upgrade to a 13 Mini however I might just get the MagSafe battery pack to solve the issue and save £300 cash. I love the 12 Mini but that battery is pretty bad.
Yeah at 85% it is vs 100%. Once it gets under 80%, just replace the battery 🤷🏾♂️
85% isn’t that bad tho.
@@MrGeek847 I am using the MagSafe battery pack with my phone now and have essentially doubled the battery life. I have more than enough to last me the day now 👍🏻
@@Bendaak Cool 👍
Well. My 13 mini battery health has significantly gone down in the past month. The upgrade isn't worth it.
Does it work on cases?
Has to be a MagSafe case.. I use one that isn’t an apple case and it holds up well.
Is there some reason they can’t just build a wireless charger into a case instead of this over the top ubertech solution of building a magnet into the phone and the charger, which is likely to fall off and get lost eventually anyway? I have a great case which never falls off. No magnets necessary.
Just got mine in the mail fits so nice and slim I love it 📱🔋❤️ the Apple MagSafe is much safer then the other battery packs that get to hot 🤷🏻♂️
I just bought two for a business trip next week ☺️
Can you charge the magsafe battery pack wirelessly on magsafe duo charger or does it only charge connected with lightning cable?
Yes you can charge the MagSafe battery with the MagSafe charger.
They talk about the performance but fail to mention the downside of your iPhone battery using a third party charger..I will always use Apple branded products because of the integration.
Lol. Turn the power button “own”! 😂
Do they work on iPhone 11?
No only 12
this charger isn't about the speds or the capacity it gives, simply, imagine it being like an iPhone battery case like back in the day. It acts as an extender to supplement the normal iPhone battery
That hdr kicked in at midnight ☄️😎
Hi Jeff
thanks a bunch for this very interesting and informative video.
What I‘ve missed are the performance numbers for the 12 Pro Max, since You‘ve only shown them for the iPhone 12.
And because I‘ve got a 12 Max and therefore interested in the numbers.
Greetings from Helvetia 🇨🇭
Everyone seems to misunderstand this product. This product ensures that your iPhone doesn’t get overcharged in order to protect the internal battery. That’s huge. It’s also a MagSafe charger plugged in that does the full 15 watts of charging - something other brands don’t do. That’s $40 for a standalone puck usually.
I wish Anker would put its power button on the top or the side. It just felt so awkward trying to press that button at the bottom with one hand.
I bought it for how well it works with iPhone and I have the pro max so I just want a bit more time when I run low
I went with the apple one because I would rather have one specifically designed for my phone on a hardware and software perspective rather then the other 2 options
Jeff always so thorough. Getting the Magasafe. Thanks
Ima get if I get the 12 mini
Damn good analysis ‼️ as always I appreciate what you do👍🏾
But Why the Made only White
I watched 3 Videos and got 3 different infos for the situation when the Battery Pack is Pluged in and connected to the iPhone.
1. Charges phone first to 100%, then the battery pack, no matter the charge on either.
2. Charges battery pack first. When you plug in the phone, it charges the phone first and the battery pack afterwards through reverse wireless.
3. Charges simultaneously and when the battery pack is at 80%, it prioritizes the phone.
Can anybody help who tried it out?
Why is mine charging so slow? Esp since I am using it….
idk if mine is faulty but definitely wasn’t worth it. charges extremely slow, don’t even know if it is charging, battery drains more than actually charging while it’s attached.
This was less of a review and more of a comparison. And I left the video more confused.
Has anyone tried one on an iPhone 11? Would it stick or magnets not strong enough?
iPhone 11 doesn’t have magnets 🧲
Why can’t you use this with other qi wireless charging phones
The MagSafe battery is as unique as the way you say “turn own”. 😀
Clicked on this video and there trying to sell us a earphone 😂 nothing to do with the power bank
Belkin now has one too
That iPhone 2G / Battery pack shot was clean.
I got mine from eBay for $49. I love it.
Personally I’ll stick with the MagSafe , because if I know Apple 🍎 there more new features (update) for this product.
You’re right. They update it to support 7.5W
Didn’t consider longevity but now that you mention it that’s a great point.
There is another Anker battery pack which is a bit nicer than the one that you showed on here and it has a stand it’s called to go Anker battery pack or something like that
I went with the Anker and never looked back because I wanted the flexibility of USB-C.
Great review. Thanks. For me... the LQQK of the MagSafe wins!
When MagSafe dies you’ll have 90% iPhone. battery
I got my M1 MacBook Air and just bought AirBuddy 2
