Well, she was constantly in that state. So if she felt that high that made her feel good, of she thought it wouldn't be that bad. Still terrible, but that's what she meant
First of all, that's not exactly what she said. If you listen to what she actually said, and consider that's the place she was mentally when she was pregnant and using, you can actually learn a little about what addiction is like. It actually gets you in a place where you can convince yourself that using heroin while pregnant is somehow not that bad. That's addiction. the thing is that addicts are human, too... humans have feelings, they suffer, they have regret over the mistakes they make just like you and I and those we love. it's sad that we're at a place in society where comments & "surprise" like yours are common: people seemingly forget or at least ignore this. in doing so we are completely dehumanizing the ill and vulnerable. let me tell you: no addict *wants* to be living that life - they are sick. very, very, sick(rather unimaginably so to neurotypical, healthy people obviously and that's okay ofc but it doesn't mean it isn't the case). speak to any experts or professionals who work with opioid addicts and they will tell you that indeed they tend to be some of the most empathetic & emotionally intelligent people and it's often this sensitivity that drives the "need" to self-medicate/numb oneself. it's not some fantastical thing that she'd have feelings for a child she carried, birthed and cared enough about to want more for & to do the correct & selfless thing in finding him a safe, stable home with decent parents to provide her son with what she herself could not.

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. You have to understand that she was addicted to heroin before, during and after the pregnancy. Even if she did know it was bad, she'd still not be able to just stop doing heroin. As soon as an addict gets pregnant, this is the unavoidable result. They also would be doing heroin during the period when she wasn't even aware of the pregnancy.

They don’t understand the struggle. Most Americans came to heroin through prescribed opioids. Withdrawals for some is a worse feeling then dying, and for most, withdrawal can mean death. We need to get rid of the stigma and follow in the footsteps of Switzerland and open genuine rehabs, not to trap you and convert you into a “normal” human by distracting you, but by scheduling and suppling clean and scheduled drugs in a controlled and safe environment where they can stay and sleep and socialise with others experiencing the same thing and professionals who don’t talk down to you. @@s0ftbby346 she abused her child so it's her responsibility to bear the consequences. if a man abused the kid because he had problems you would be saying differently.
1. She started on pain pills, which means she likely had a procedure or condition, her doctor prescribed her pain pills, and she became another victim of the opioid epidemic. The opioid epidemic is largely the fault of irresponsible medical professionals and the irresponsibility of the government and is now a rampant, massive health crisis. 2. Many women, especially women with mental health problems, drug addictions, or living in poverty for any reason, don't know they are pregnant until they begin to show signs. Often, this will be 3-4 months. The video said she used heroin for the first 4 months of her pregnancy. I can't say whether or not she knew, but even healthy, middle class women often are unaware of their pregnancy for weeks or a few months. 3. Putting addicts in jail worsens their long term success rates in things such as life expectancy, recovery rates from drug addiction (aka being clean), mental health, and more. Jail is NOT the place for a drug addict who has not committed a violent crime. Drug addiction is a chemical process in the brain that is, in large part, genetic. It is the realm of medical professionals. The U.S.'s habit of incarcerating drug addicts has led to us having the highest percentage of imprisoned citizens in the developed world, unsustainable costs associated with keeping so many people locked up leading to extreme taxing, worsening the recidivism rates (people who are released and recommit crime) as compared to other first world countries, and exponential health care costs from repeated drug dependency that jail does NOT treat. It is tragic what happened to her child, but there is not always someone to blame. Yes, there is some blame if she was aware she was pregnant or committed crimes to fund her addiction, but it is 100% not as simple as "no questions asked put her in jail". What's more important: actually working to solve the opioid and drug addiction epidemic to prevent tragedies such as this from happening so frequently, or petty punishment for something that isn't even entirely her fault?
Yeah.. it really doesn’t work like that. Im not the best at english, so i wont be able to explain myself as i would like to, but all in all, if he can’t express himself with word, as his brain can’t reproduce what he is thinking, he also wont be able to do it with signs
Juan Buniva they did say, he does understand what he wants, but just cant express himself in a normal way. So that would mean he can think as a normal child just not talk normally.
I feel like everyone just sort of glossed over the fact that it isn't the biological moms fault. It started with prescribed pain meds, once she was taken off she was already experiencing withdrawal and addiction symptoms. She was already addicted to drugs before heroin use. She didnt just randomly out of the blue decide one day to ruin her life by using.
I am in a drug prevention group and a few years ago there was this speaker who was close with the coordinators. She had been a drug addict and spoke about her life and raised awareness for the issue. She got in a bad car accident and the doctors gave her pain meds! Giving opioids to a person who had an opioid addiction is so incredibly stupid and yet it happens a lot. This caused her to have a relapse and she overdosed and died. She had kids! The lack of compassion makes it harder to get clean. Going to a doctor is how they got their problem in the first place and if they are caught using, they can be arrested. Chances are she didn’t know she was pregnant for the first couple months and quitting cold turkey can be very bad. You can tell that addicts, like this woman , feel guilty enough as it is so treating them like horrible people is not going to accomplish anything. It’s so frustrating when people act like people decide to screw up their lives instead of recognizing that it is a mental illness (and can be genetic.)

I'm sure she's proud of herself for putting her children at risk and chemically dependant on opioids, it's much more than just stopping by will power or lack of will power, it's the total dependancy of the drugs and the real reason people normally begin using.... Lack of selfworth, self care or concern, self hate, ptsd, past abuses, mental illness, genetic disposition to use, etc etc... Its not a simple choice once your world becomes the ways and means for getting high
Children are so pure.. he is still smiling and laughing like any other child.. I have a niece who was born with severe brain damage and has cerebral palsy but she is the happiest most cutest little baby ever.. kids are a gift from God..
My mother does heroin and she pretty much caused alot of my life problems like adhd. My first full blood sister was born addicted. So please listen to teachers and dont do drugs ever
It's entirely sad how there's so much hatred towards the mother. This isn't to say we shouldn't feel sorry for the son but to not even have the range to be able to extend empathy to the mother is so sad and morally self righteous. These two aren't mutually exclusive. I hope she's in a better place ❤️
This is HER fault though. SHE did it to her child. And it's not like she stopped once she found out about the pregnancy or something she just kept on with the drugs. There are people who manage to escape the world of drugs without even having the biggest motivation possible (the baby) but she didn't which means that getting clean although difficult is far from impossible.
@@kylesavage4525 Exactly. I realize drug addiction is difficult, but if this woman cared about her child, she would have at least made an attempt to get off heroin.
Here's the thing, if you dont think you can stay clean during a pregnancy, DONT GET PREGNANT. You should never get pregnant if you dont feel like u can give your child the best life possible

Yeah that would suck if you were the one percent who got pregnant on birth control. I guess then they should just kill the baby in the womb at that point ?
It makes me so angry to think good people out there who cannot conceive & then you get these junkies popping babies out who don't deserve them at all, SO unfair
not to mention taxpayers are paying for the NICU bills of these poor babies. They are just victims of their mothers who were given free methadone by the clinics financed by the govt itself. Sick world we are living
I’m so grateful she had the strength to sacrifice any selfish desire to “keep him for herself” (or something along those lines, as often many parents might do) and instead focus on giving him the best possible life he could have. True, unconditional love.
Tbh, I have to give her props for giving him up for adoption and offering to stay in his life on a limited basis. There are way to many drug addicts that sell their babies for more drugs
@@Stephen_Black I'm going to assume you've never been addicted before, and if you have you are the small percentage of the strong ones. Addiction is the only thing that runs through your brain. Even your own health and safety means nothing to you, the only thing that can make you feel anything is the next fix. Birth control is a varied issue, they most likely weren't concerned about spending any money on that but she may have also had sex while strung out, pretty much not knowing what she was doing. She may not have been strong enough at the time to help herself and her baby but she was strong enough to know her baby needed real parents and found someone to help.
I love how stupid you people in the comments are the child was clearly taken away she probably wouldve sold him for a dime bag because she was clearly using after ruining that poor boys life and she cant even take responsibility for ruining his entire life and she proceeds to act as if she was giving the boy to the adoptive mom but she obviously had no fucking say you stupid fucks

@@NavidFarkhondehpay-cq6fx here's how to solve a heroin or any drug addiction really. Take the amount of heroin you're doing on a daily basis and divide that by 30. Do that much less heroin each day. Day 1: 30/30 of the original amount of heroin Day 2: 29/30 of the original amount of heroin Day 30: 1/30 of the original amount of heroin Day 31: No heroin Then all you need to do is get a life so you have something to do besides drugs. Even without getting a life, it shouldn't be that difficult to not do drugs.
@@doctoreggman7308 You don't seem to understand how addiction works. You don't just choose to do a certain amount of heroin each day. Heroin chooses for you. Even if you try that method, it's likely that you will have relapse after relapse where you totally lose control. When the heroin realizes that you're slipping away, it will drag you back. It can take years to overcome addiction regardless of the method, because the grasp that drugs hold on people is so terrifyingly strong. I'm not trying to say your method is useless, as I can imagine that it would be much better than aimlessly trying to stop. It's just that even with a good strategy, the journey is long and hard.
Yep, it is easy, addicts are selfish fucking scum and they deserve to be judged by everyone with the will power enough not to be. Why do addicts think they are somehow the victim?
Just saying no one asked to be addicted. Whether it's alcohol or sex or whatever. I'm sorry opposition doesn't take the time to understand chemical dependency, the humans behind it, or maybe the sad circumstances that led them down there.

December Queen, this surprises you? A lot of people think that drugs aren't that bad, just look at all those in favor of legal marijuana, and let's not even talk about the abuse of already-legal cigarrettes and alcohol.
December Queen are you deaf idiot ? When she was on it she didn’t think it was bad because of the effects it had on her
She thought *at the moment* it wasn't that bad. She wasn't in the right state of mind while being on drugs, that' why she probably thought that.
She said "in the state of mind i was in I didn't think it was that bad"
@@magickelfgirl The worst part is marijuana has no where near the same side effects as smoking and alcohol addictions or other drugs. But yet things that are proven to kill are STILL legal! Why are alcohol and cigarettes still allowed?!
Instead of just saying he’ll never live a normal life and telling his flaws they should say what he’s good at and try to give this boy hope! He looks like a good kid!
i agree with this because the boy in the future can have some problems after realizing this stigma from others. as someone who has drug addicted parents like me, it's like a shadow that i have to deal with because even if i'm a different person from my parents, my family sometimes still compares me with them and it's frustrating. you think that you will be equal your parents or have the same destiny even making the opposite. there's consequences but we're not resumed by them
I am mentally disabled in a family with mental disabilities and former addicts. People don’t realize how important giving kids hope is. If I had heard hope instead of being told for most of my childhood that I was a problem like my parents and that everything I did was never good enough, I wouldn’t have had to wrestle as badly as I have against depression.
they probably tell *him* those things, but this wasn't meant to be a feel-good gloss-over-everything-bad story. It's meant to be educational and tell the *reality* of drug addiction while pregnant.
People in this comment section really be naive enough to think that sending drug addicts to jail is the solution. RIP to the birth mother.
@Unstable Daydreamer Exactly. They need help.

@Greenly Gibson Well, you don't become a drug addict with nothing wrong in the first place
@Greenly Gibson she was already addicted to pain medication, a gateway drug. be angry at the healthcare system, not the people who fell victim to illness like addiction.
@Greenly Gibson it really you can die of withdrawal. The best option really would have been to get an abortion and go to a rehab.
Is being into children a illness too?
@@mrdinoface3558 being sexually attracted to children is also a mental illness. The difference being that this drug addicted woman didn’t harm anybody whereas the child molester did.
That’s why a child molester should go to jail and undergo therapy; So that he can belong to this society. In the event that therapy didn’t work that person should be executed, not because we hate him, but because he doesn’t belong in this society and should take a place along side god.
Same thing goes for the poor child. He’s lucky that his adoptive mother has given him a second chance. If he ever happens to be suffering and has no place in this world he should be sent to his creator so that he can ask, why such a thing had to happen to him.
This life is only worth living if you have full mental capacity. Otherwise the kingdom of heaven is a far better choice.
i'm so sad for the birth mom. you can see how disappointed she is on herself and how sad she is that she can't take care of her baby, but she has a real mom heart cause she thought about him first and let him be adopted by a family that could give him the life he needs. i'm sad for her, but i'm so happy for him.
She didn't think about him. When babies are born, their poop is tested. His would have been positive for drugs(and obviously because of how he was born they would have guessed) and he was taken away and she clearly didn't love him enough to get clean and fight to get him back, either. She's trash.

@@Daniel-oz6qu yes she is she got hit by a car
They don’t understand the struggle. Most Americans came to heroin through prescribed opioids. Withdrawals for some is a worse feeling then dying, and for most, withdrawal can mean death. We need to get rid of the stigma and follow in the footsteps of Switzerland and open genuine rehabs, not to trap you and convert you into a “normal” human by distracting you, but by scheduling and suppling clean and scheduled drugs in a controlled and safe environment where they can stay and sleep and socialise with others experiencing the same thing and professionals who don’t talk down to you. Addiction is a an inevitable part of the human mind, whether you’re addicted to sugar, working out, drugs, socialising, whatever it is, our brain is trained using chemicals, whether it’s supporting healthy habits or deadly ones, people can become dependent.
The world isn’t all disgusting, we are all capable of the same thing and have the same limitations within our fragile flesh, never stop talking to others, keep your head up.

She needs to be put in jail. No questions asked. If you dont feed your child what happens? Jail. This is worse because its lifelong.
Petey Lox she needs help dumbass! How does putting her in jail help anyone?
@@s0ftbby346 she abused her child so it's her responsibility to bear the consequences. if a man abused the kid because he had problems you would be saying differently.
She basically tortured a human being for life. Get her some help and take her to a mental asylum for years.
She was probably already put in jail. I think she knows what she did; you could tell that she felt remorse.
When you think your mother is the worst because of an stupid argument...

Although it is fucked up, don't be completely ignorant to addictions. Addictions are more complicated than you think. And some people don't have the strength others have to completely deny something they're addicted to and feel like they can't control. Addictions can take over your life and most people are ignorant to how it actually feels. Of course anyone can get better, but it's harder than people think.
Emily Arriaga don't you come here and call people ignorant as if you've got a higher understanding of the struggle of addiction than any one else. Alcoholism runs deep in my family so I've got my good deal of experience of the effects that comes from physical addiction. Now I understand that heroine addiction is one of the hardest dependants to kick and that the mind actually physically change in ways that make the addict need the drug, not want it, not crave it, Need it to function. Same thing as with alcohol. BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE HER ANY LESS OF A FAILURE OF A HUMAN BEING. She let her child down. She failed as an adult, as a parent and as a human being. Because of her failure her son is to suffer. That's that. There is no discussion here.
instanceTu did you watch the video? Do you know how easy it is to be prescribed painkillers and then it get out of hand? You can watch some of the most kind, gentle humans completely turn from a prescription. My cousins in rehab for oxys. Before you go and throw your opinion in everyones face consider that the birth mother had a shitty life also? It clearly stated that its a bad area for drug use. Don't act like you know everything just cause you experienced one form of addiction. I hope you're doing alright though. Regardless of the type, it hurts to see family/friends lost but I can never look at addicts as failures. Until you know their life story how can you possibly critique?
Yeah but that mom has had 20+ years to figure her shit out, the baby is doomed because of a junkie's mistake. Also, if addiction totally controls this fickle-minded woman then why does she need to get pregnant and pass that on to an innocent baby? No sympathy for junkies who fuck up other peoples' lives to feed their addiction.
This broke my heart, he has every right to hate his birth mother. I know it seems a bit over the top but she disregarded and compromised the life of her unborn child for the sake of drug addiction and pleasure. She allowed her strong addiction overpower the love and bond she should’ve had with her son. Sadly there’s a lot of mothers out there like this, who don’t use protection because they simply do not care if they bring a baby into this cruel world strung out at birth... it’s cruel and selfish.

The birth mother did something horrible, but all these people wishing her death are worse. You were never in her shoes. She admitted she waa wrong, she attempted to get off heroine four months in, and got on something still strong, but a little less so. Horrible for the child but there are many people who don't even try. Most importantly she made sure her child went to a good home. I am not defending what she did, but there are many heroin addicts who did things a whole lot worse to their child.

It makes me so angry to think good people out there who cannot conceive & then you get these junkies popping babies out who don't deserve them at all, SO unfair
GREAT POINT!
Thank you TheRealsk8terchick Cat Peach
damn girl preech it!
not to mention taxpayers are paying for the NICU bills of these poor babies. They are just victims of their mothers who were given free methadone by the clinics financed by the govt itself. Sick world we are living
Yes Liz Loriz thanks 👍
As heart breaking as it is, addiction is a disease and something these people cannot always control without help.
Theses poor children.
They don't deserve this, no one does!

This is why people shouldn’t do drugs because it will probably affect them and their loved ones for their entire life
Artificial drugs are monstrous , natural Earth given drugs are medicine .
My dad and uncle where both addicted and you don't know how it really is
The doctor percribed them pain meds and then they were hooked on it and heroin was a very very simalar drug
Period ☝️ this video is the best example

I’m so grateful she had the strength to sacrifice any selfish desire to “keep him for herself” (or something along those lines, as often many parents might do) and instead focus on giving him the best possible life he could have. True, unconditional love.
@I Drive A Chevrolet Movie Theater 🤣 Self awareness is key.

Someone online makes a mistake: “THEY MUST RECIVE THE DEATH PENALTY FOR THEIR CRIMES!”
TH-cam comments are so toxic.
Thats so fax
They were on heroin while pregnant. That's not just a mistake, they didn't do heroin on accident. Even if I knew them, I would have no sympathy for the since they fucked up a kid for life.
@@NavidFarkhondehpay-cq6fx here's how to solve a heroin or any drug addiction really. Take the amount of heroin you're doing on a daily basis and divide that by 30. Do that much less heroin each day.
Day 1: 30/30 of the original amount of heroin
Day 2: 29/30 of the original amount of heroin
Day 30: 1/30 of the original amount of heroin
Day 31: No heroin
Then all you need to do is get a life so you have something to do besides drugs. Even without getting a life, it shouldn't be that difficult to not do drugs.
My response to people who do illegal drugs while pregnant is "no mercy, scum!".

It's so easy to point the finger when you've never struggled with addiction. So easy to judge.
Yep, it is easy, addicts are selfish fucking scum and they deserve to be judged by everyone with the will power enough not to be. Why do addicts think they are somehow the victim?
Shady Lurker Gaming plz stfu I feel like your doing this to piss people off
Well understand that if you can't even take care of yourself you certainly can't take care of a child
Just saying no one asked to be addicted. Whether it's alcohol or sex or whatever. I'm sorry opposition doesn't take the time to understand chemical dependency, the humans behind it, or maybe the sad circumstances that led them down there. Not saying there is no accountability or they shouldn't take responsibility. Just saying being judgemental is myopic.
True but when you are pregnant or are a parent it's a completely different issue
Sometimes parents are the worst thing that can happen to a child
sometimes people shouldn't birth kids. like don't feel sorry for the kid he just shouldn't have existed in the first place. Had they chosen to abort they would saved years of medical bills but what do they do? no only decide to have children, but shoot up a needle while pregnant as if it isn't common knowledge to not even drink.
@@alexhz1608 what? why is your first thought of a solution abortion? why not focus on drug awareness, rehabilitation or the legalization of illicit substances? abortion wasn't even part of the conversation, it's insane how some of you pro-choicers think.
@@alexhz1608 are you saying it’s the kids fault I was with you until you said that comment
@@bgebre4031 the financial strain of a child ain’t helping lmao. Kids cracked out of his mind why you birthing mental illness intentionally
@@alexhz1608 why would you punish the child for the mistakes of the mother... you literally said in ur original comment "don't feel sorry for the child", what's wrong with you? the boy WILL have a good quality of life because he's adopted into a loving, financially stable family that's willing to help him instead throwing him out to the sidewalk.
My younger brother also was born disabled due to our mothers use of heroin, it's definitely a struggle, but he is the sweetest kid you'd ever meet
