Came from a rusting out 3rd gen taco. Got a 24 pro4x. It suits me well. Still running a v6 non turbo. Sweet spot for what I need. I never really considered a Frontier. Wheel wells seem cramped. Put the all dogs RCKilla leveling kit and couldn’t be happier now. To me it sits as it should now.
I bought a 2011 Frontier crew cab long bed Saturday. Love these trucks now. The 4.0L chirps the rear wheels at stop signs / traffic lights. Feels perfect to drive. I’m 5’6” and it fits me like a glove. I think I’m done with full sized trucks.
I had a Titan. I'd def consider a Frontier if those little midsizers would work for me. In fact, I remember test driving a Frontier back in 2003. At the time, they had a particular trim with a supercharger. And man that thing hauled ass. The salesman had me take it to a rock quarry. It was like the best test drive ever. Anyway, I ended up getting a Toyota Tundra instead but just needed something bigger. Nissan does appear to be the better value and has been for some time though.
What's nice about the Nissan frontier pro- 4 x, you have a transmission and oil dipstick right underneath the hood. Yay! If you want a truck like this to pull a small trailer every now and then or go to Home Depot or just pick up things on and off over the years this is a perfect truck. These trucks are going to be hard to find in the future unless Nissan keeps making them like this. This is a good mid-size truck and it also does not have a turbo on the engine which will prolong the life of the engine. And also keeping those fluids changed earlier than later in this truck will last you a long time. Also good to learn how to use a scan tool not a code reader but a professional scan tool and you might be able to fix a lot of this stuff yourself. If you're not experienced how to use one there's plenty of TH-cam videos that will show you how to do it. It's going to save you possibly thousands of dollars of preventive maintenance and also if sensors go bad it will let you know and there's plenty of TH-cam videos on every make and model on how to replace certain sensors on a vehicle. For example a sensor goes bad and let's say it's $50 and the dealer may possibly charge you $1,000 bucks for just doing 10 minutes worth of work. You have to educate yourself and save yourself money. This goes on all over the country. Every man and woman should learn these life skills that are going to possibly save you money in the long run. It's amazing how many 20 something year old guys that I talked to don't even have any tools or know how to do basic maintenance of a car these days. It's completely ridiculous! In my opinion if you're a young guy you should always learn the basics of a car and try to save yourself money. Those are life skills that you'll use for the rest of your life. In my opinion as of now this truck is better than Toyota as far as reliability and longevity.
Nissan built this truck for more people than the detractors realize. Hard financial times and high interest rates are keeping sales down for all vehicles. I see 15 year old (and older) Xterras and Frontiers on the road every single day and I live near a high income and cost of living part of the country. I do not believe that in 2040 I will be seeing any 2024 Colorado, Canyon, Ranger, or Tacoma trucks still driving around. If you don't have any previous generation 4Runner than this is the closest you're going to get and you can do it for a lot less money.
Great video on the pro’s and con’s of the Frontier. NO Cylinder Deactivation BS on the Frontier or Titan, so Nissan staying old school and not playing the keeping up with the Jones’s game as their competitors move toward over-techy vehicles with cylinder deactivation and turbo’s seems to be what a lot of people want, if not now then when their expensive techy turbo vehicles break maybe then they will appreciate a simple vehicle that is reliable
Spot on! In my teens and 20s i loved the small truck segment. But now in my 40s i cant give up the easy low end torque of a v8 or a diesel where you can just roll on and pick up speed. I feel like im missing out but i know ill be unhappy. If i was interested this would be the one
I'm in the camp of "proven reliable" The chassis goes back to 2005 and has been fully boxed since at least thay far back. Has Dana axles. The 9speed came out with the titan and Nissan uses that same 9speed in the Z... Sure it's not the most powerful....but 310hp isn't anything to sneeze at, it gets down and goes when needed. It makes more power the the Gladiator's 3.6 and more HP then the non hybrid Tacoma and more then the 2.3 Ranger. It's not the lowest torque figure either. It just edges out the Pentastar. As for gearing. It uses a 3.69 alxe ratio and with how aggressive the first 3 gears in the trans is, it has a 54:1 crawl ratio....only beaten by the Gladiator Rubicon. It gets solid MPG as well. I get real world 24+ MPG highway and around 17ish city. I'm not easy on my vehicles and certainly not afraid to wring it out when needed. Toyotas quality went down when production moved to Mexico in 2021 (for Tacoma production) the glove box in my brother's 2023 rattles around and that carried over to the 4th gens but worse....now the hoods rattle around 😂. Frontier isn't perfect but the fit and finish is better for sure....my brother admitted I do have the nicer truck. His is a 3rd Gen, 2023 TRD Offroad and paid 46k out the door. I paid 48k out the door. They are very similar in capabilities on paper.

I really do not like the new look of the Tacoma its like a bee stung it. While the gmc and Colorado looks Great. Also i hate big hood scoops, it really does not help off roading or driving.
As my best friend told me when he bought his, it might not be able to tow as much as you, it might not be able haul as much as you, but it's reliable, it's capable off road, and that's what matters to me.

Nissan gen 3 Frontier pro 4x with 2 inch lift and 1 inch wheel spacers keep stock tires.....$500 or less investment....totally transforms the truck to a more aggressive looking beauty and gives you all the clearance you need to do mid level off roading.
I love it he told the people to shut up🤣 I agree I really like that Nissan. I like my Jeep gladiator better otherwise I would’ve bought the Nissan second choice.
I am researching midsized trucks...coming from Chevy Silverado 1500 but don't need large truck at this stage just some lite towing under 3500 lbs...I've narrowed it down to Ford Ranger Lariat, Chevy Colorado Z71, and Frontier Pro4X,...no need for heavy off-road capabilities more of a daily driver. I was leaning heavily to the Frontier but the Chevy and Ford are newer tech and cabin is comfortable...help a guy out. What say you? Always enjoy Jason's vids...
3 great trucks. Definitely drive all 3 and see what you like best. Can't go wrong with either. I best the best bang for bucks deal wise will be the colorado, the most long term reliability will be frontier , ranger price will be high as fors just doesn't put too many on dealer lots.
