@@fizgigz367 The issue is that the trapezoid created with the double whishbones when compressing or extending the distance between the end of the suspension piston and the rod toward the wheels should be able to decrease/increase. So you need to offset the suspension and use horizontal bearings (2x)
It appears to be an easier model of double wishbone. Thus it is more comprehensible for new mechanics for recreation than those half hour long tutorials the stars are doing. Thanks a lot for making this suspension accessable for a dump mechanic that is myself.
This is a great suspension even if it causes the suspension glitch. I was able to modify it to remove the glitch though. I just moved the springs one block inward so that the top wishbone axle is connected directly to a 3 way pipe that connects to the spring. This allows the spring to move more freely and eliminate the glitch. doesn't require a controller, but is more stable with one or two controllers pinning the bearings up.
Thanks, this was very helpful! But one thing: You don't need the second piece of suspension (hard to explain) so what I mean by that is you don't need both of the duplicated pieces (You have one in the front, this is starts with the 2 bearings which you mount on the car's body. Then comes the middle part with the Shock absorber like you called it in the video. Then, the last part is just a duplication of the first one and you don't need that to have a stable car! )
This causes a suspension glitch, unfortunately. 3:30 and 4:38 - As your build hits the ground, it stays upright. The supports gradually touch the ground, but they should fall instantly because of the weight. The easiest way to confirm this: you can also smack one of these with the sledgehammer, and it won't fall over. That's the problem that people are having here, and it's an issue with the game that has been bothering me while I mess with suspension designs.
It shouldn't, certainly not the one without steering. Suspension is janky as hell in SM, work on something a while, looks good, take it for a drive and it turns into a blender. It's very much about working around all the bugs and invisible collisions to get things running in here.
@@10175978 Yeah, Scrap Mechanic Devs should fix a lot of bugs and mostly the game performance. Any advanced build in this games brings the game to 5 fps, even on Ryzen 3900x + 2080 Super, that is shame.
At the end of the video, you can see, when it's taken off the lift, that there's a suspension glitch... If the block/pipe you attach the suspension to was on bearings and was able to rotate, the glitch wouldn't happen.
This game is glitchy/buggy all the time. That is the reason why I stopped playing it again. I think I need to wait few more years again. If you build proper suspension, you get 3-5fps on Ryzen 3900x + 2080 Super and 32GB of ram.

suspension glitch! the suspension springs are bound fixed, and cannot move. they need the ability to move when they are pressed together. other than that, nice suspension.
And can you make an updated version where the suspension can also go down so therefore the wheels touch the ground all the time therefore making the car more easy to handle because all wheels are touching the ground
Scrap Mechanic devs need to fix game performance first, it is almost impossible to build something advanced in this game withouth loosing 90% of fps on high end gaming computer.
I just tried this suspension and for some reason it doesn't work. Could it be the last update? (It really looks good so I wanted to try it out, thanks!)
You made a mistake somewhere, while you were building it, I guess you welded the ( shock absober, damper "springy thing" ) somewhere it shouldnt be welded.
@@AdamDeBeers I recreated it. I used a controller to test it's motions and it started flying into space. There's a lot that could have gone wrong with my tests but the basic structure of it looks flawed I think. It beds the suspension out shape causing the suspension glitch. @Malik Rayden Thank you.
Its a very nice tutorial, but it creates a suspension glitch, no big deal with heavy trucks but a bit of a problem with smaller and lighter vehicles
