Thanks for showing how to square up the blade, you have solved one of the mysteries of life for me, I did everything including an exorcism, thanks again. A ball tearer of a video.

Dean you are the man, and all one handed to boot, thanks for the walk through , it was great, have bought an old 1013 and plan to cannibalize it to get my even older one up and running.

Very impressive to do all of that with one hand. This was also useful for me since my saw needs just a bit of care and this helped me to see what I need to do.

Great straightforward video. Grabbing a second hand one of these tomorrow and hope I don't need to rely on your video but if I do I'm grateful to you for providing such a clear walkthrough. Ta Mark

Had this saw for years - it’s a heavy SOB, but it was the best saw Makita made.

Had a LS 1013L since it came out. Best saw of it's kind ever in my opinion. I just blow it off most of the time when I am done with a project. I used to be a home renovation guy and have used it a lot. It has run the same since day one. I try to check over all my tools brushes over the X mas Holliday's too if I am using them a ton. That always seems to help. The only tool I can't seem to keep on-top of is a random orbital sander. I go through those quick. I buy the cheap ones now.

Once again you've given me an idea to what I need to look at on my own tool (AEG mitre saw), ordered more parts than I needed probably but will get it fixed. Thanks!

There's something to be said about taking care of one's tools. It's amazing how much garbage comes in on the tools you repair. Job security, eh?

Dean, what’s best for the slide rails is they get a bit sticky? Scotch pad ? Grease of any particular kind? Great vid, going to give mine an overhaul in the new year. Much respect for the channel from Bonnie Scotland. 👍

    Hi Dean,
I'm based in the UK and am getting an old LS1013 as well since I was able to get a good working one for a bargain. Did you end up replacing some of these parts or did you just cleaned/refitted/retightened them? If you bought replacements can you let me know where?
Thanks a lot for this video, will surely use it when I have the saw.

I just recently was given an LS1214FL that no one can seem to get it to cut square. The story was. The base was replaced, and it hasn't cut square sense. Any pointers??

Decent saw. Check the sliding rails. They should be smooth and free. Make sure there is no sparks or flash from the motor when running. It should be smooth and reasonably quite, you don't want to hear any Geary sounds. And give the whole motor head a good pull and wiggle. There should be no play or backlash.

I just purchased this unit today and this video is a life saver. Can you tell me what type of grease you used, where you got the c clamp, and also did you replace the pin underneath or was it ok? I cannot turn the unit since the lever does nothing.

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I use heavy gear grease. Not sure what you mean by the c clamp. Pin underneath was ok on this one.

@@deandohertygreaser Thank you for the info. I was referring to the collar that that you placed behind the spring that allows the lever to be depressed. The lever used to make the saw swivel left or right.

Excellent videos as always mate. Very helpful for adjusting the bevel. I had no idea those bolts where there.
I’m having an issues with the electric break working intermittently. Some days it’s fine. Some days it only works half the time. I’ve already replaced the brushes and it didn’t make a difference. Any ideas?

The switch could be faulty or the second winding on the field may be bad. Probably the switch.
