@@icaruswind8751 and? It's all cheap plastic graders use. Ppl pay gobs of money for cards to be encased in cheap plastic, I might as well use the the service with the slabs I like and have the more affordable service. Cgc has great slabs price was awesome and I got my card back in 3 weeks (technically 2 weeks) and not 3-6 months lol.
@@zippo_muk9254 I haven't personally seen that. So I'm confident in saying no. My most valuable submission was 2 cards for around $600 and I paid for their "Economy" service. It covers $1000 and the service was only $13/per card and $20 return shipping. So $46 dollars for the whole thing and with both of my submissions the cards came back in about 3 weeks. $600 of value for 2 cards for only $46 to have them Graded? Steal lol.
Great video Niko. I checked the Blastoise and I actually agree with both graders. There is quite a noticeable scratch on the back right side starting from the border and goes into the main area of the card, almost the same length. The CGC scans are much higher quality and shows this very well. Also, the bottom edge of the card has whitening along the edge, particularly bad on the bottom right. For me, that scratch really brings it down due to the length. On the Latias, on the back there's a white chip on the bottom left-centre edge, and also 2 more on the top. I work backwards from a "perfect" card and imagine having to pick between a perfect card and the one I am inspecting. If I can't justify that both are equal (both perfect), then I immediately forget the idea of getting a 10 on the one I am inspecting. Thanks for the detailed video, I really like the look of the new CGC myself.
I completely agree with how psa 10s sometimes are NOT 10s. Had a few bad experiences with purchasing psa10s and being disappointed. I'll keep buying cgc10 prestine for my collection over psa10 any day
Loved the video. I prefer grading with CGC myself. Love the look of the slab upgrade from last year. But like you said, PSA has a chokehold in the industry because of their longevity. I get that everyone has a preference, but it seems lots of people in the trading card hobby paint CGC as inferior to PSA. And not to discredit PSA's graders, but because PSA is the Goliath in the grading industry, it sometimes seems they can throw any number on a slab and get away with it. The Toy's R US Charmander for example.

I'm glad someone got the bright side of the information that I am trying to portray. Some people can take it the wrong way but I see the issue as that PSA is the Gold standard for the wrong reasons. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video 🙏🏻
PSA is very inconsistent but holds value. Cgc frustrates me with the whole shift in company and change in slabs but was happy I have mostly blue slabs in my personal collection. I have a lot of 9-9.5 blue cgc slabs I thought about sending to PSA but don’t see it worth the grading costs for my own personal collection

I totally understand! A lot of people felt a little bit betrayed by the change of label but looking at it now it was the right change to normalize it for the grading industry. Hopefully this video helps with that decision on trying to send to PSA. I feel CGC isn't far off from the grading quality as PSA 💪🏻
I think it was pretty close, but for me in my location it's cheaper to grade with cgc and I must admit, the CGC slabs are prettier. So when I grade for my own collection I will deff use CGC.
I think Psa trys not to give a vintage card a high grade unless you pay for a higher value grading tier so they get their money too or theyre just protecting pop count as some assume. Also Cgc does give higher grades on higher valued cards that are mint cause they dont care about declared values as much at this time. Which is why i send alot of my psa 9s to cgc to get that 9.5 or even 10 if i know the cards better than mint.

Wow I didn't think of it in that way. I think there is some type of manipulation going on somewhere 🤔
What can I expect from PSA for my 7.5 BGS card? 9-9.5 on all categories except surface being 6.5. It is mainly all at the back, some noticeably large white staining (kinda looks like a weird print, I’m not sure)? It’s just a first ed dark Gyarados
หลายเดือนก่อน +1
From what you are describing that is what they call foreign substance on a card and that hit that relatively hard. Depending on the size and how noticeable they hit that accordingly. I think it won't move much more than a .5/1 point lower, maybe higher but I doubt it.
I see, thanks! The stain didn’t clean when I tried with microfibre cloth, which usually worked for most ‘white areas’ I’ve had on surfaces in the past. It is off to PSA right now, hope it does well:)
Well, I have to disagree since this test doesn't confirm the idea of PSA being too lenient since they graded it harsher. And you seem somewhat biased for calling a harsher grade of the Latias from PSA as a loss when you've been under the impression that they are doing the opposite? With that said I have some really sketchy PSA 10s.
I bet they think Blastoise is off center big time. Vstar no scratches at all, maybe there was something like that. I hate PSA though, CGC when they had Subgrades was much better
I’ve seen CGC 10 that shouldn’t have even deserved a 10. There was whitening on the back and centering was horrible. Feel like a lot of these grading companies are slacking PSA included.

A lot of people have the misconception that a Gem Mint 10 can't have flaws. A Gem Mint 10 is allowed some whitening on the corners and a slightly off centering. It's more of a point system of sub grade that allows you to get to a certain grade.
After i saw the video of the guy who got two PSA 5 scream Pikachu's he then resubmitted them again and they came back 10's. Dude was Livid. im not trusting PSA sorry not sorry. PSA got paid Twice for grading the same cards when it should've been done correctly the first time. I understand a re-submit for that next highest grade when you feel it deserves it but to jump from 5 to 10!? Nah. Ppl were also saying PSA has has a history of just giving random 5's just to get through orders im not completely sure on that but regardless, Nope. I personally just like CGC anyway them crystal clear slabs make it like the card floats in your hand 😅
i feel like with all your points there was too much cgc bias... psa grades too strict? cgc win. psa grade too lenient? cgc win....

I could totally see what you mean! From my view and perspective of this experiment, CGC either matched/got close or bettered the final grade to me that a win. CGC has nothing to lose and a lot to gain if a company who has less than 5 years grading cards challenges or is slightly better than a company that has been doing it for 15-20 years, that speaks volumes.
CGC is the loosest of grading companies by far. Been in the game for over a decade and I won’t even bother with CGC because there grades have been the most atrocious I’ve seen
If PSA is knocking down grades it's a problem, that's atrocious grading. You shouldn't be able to continue to submit the same card and eventually get a 10. A card being a 9 means there is something noticeable, should be very slight or none on a 10.
@@TM-op7zb that is a problem, but that happens more with CGC than anyone else lol. There is a reason they are the less sought after and often go for raw - no faith in the grading process because of all over the place. If it’s not BGS or PSA, no way I’m saying over raw for it.
@@ryanfr5605Wrong. That happens more often with PSA and you can look up how many cards were graded at 9’s and 10’s at PSA versus CGC and Beckett. It's a custom playmat that I got designed. I put the design in with a website called Inked Gaming.
