    Put simply, because those brands have good products -- which is why I'm still promoting those here -- BUT they don't have a web sales portal of their own, or fail to pay me commission, or I'm simply not certain that their promised discount code applies properly and you are getting the discount I've promised you in the video... So it is my duty to at least redirect you to a trustworthy sales site, such as Amazon. I apologise if this causes any inconvenience, and I hope that it does not! 😉👌

    Coming up to 15000 in my ZST and so far no problems and as good as the day I bought it. A friend has similar car with almost 85000 kms, due mainly to country driving, and also no issues. I think that if you look after a car, any car, it will reward you with reliability. Another point is that, should you have any issues with any car, take it back to the dealer. Don't trust your backyard mechanic or try sort out the problem yourself. The warranty on any car is there for a reason, use it if required.

      Yeah when it comes to mechanic, etc, I'm of the same view. Service the car regularly, don't do anything particularly stupid, and it will be fine.

    Finally got mine yesterday, I’ve only done 300km so far but I’m loving it! What a lot of people do not realise is that the motors in the two top of the line zst’s is actually a General Motors unit. Last year it was voted in the top 10 motors in the world! You can find them in all Chevy blazers in the USA. Tonight I went to get dinner and my son was begging me to take the wrx but I honestly preferred to take the mg! It’s a very nice comfortable car to drive and I’m loving just relaxing and getting places rather than having my spine rattled and having everyone trying to race me at every set of lights. I’m really happy with my purchase

    I have mg3 2021 bought new , now approaching 18,000km , so far very good , I change oil and filter every 5000km myself as mechanic . Will change auto trans oils and coolant etc very often aswell , my attitude is frequently changed fluids and respectful treatment of the car by way of how it’s driven and what’s done with it should give it the best and longest life possible .

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And that's probably a healthy attitude, especially if you're a mechanic, so things are cheaper and easier for you to do yourself. Obviously in your hands the car will outlast some more established brands out there. Problem is - not everyone is like you and we kinda need to look at the median line of an average consumer and car use.

    Cant talk for MG but Haval have been in Australia for at least 7 years and seem to be still good with 100k. As far as build goes and side impact Australia has very strict rules unlike other countries and for the H6 to get a 5 Star Ancap rating speaks volumes of the safety of the car. I know the latest Honda HR-V only received a 4 Star Ancap rating.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard something funny like - safety rating in stars for these cars is obtained outside of Australia but advertised here as such, conveniently not always mentioning the ANCAP specifically - i.e. not legally breaching anything since they didn't tell you it's "ANCAP", you just assumed it was.... Meaning - are these "5 star safety rated", OR are they actually ANCAP rated? In any case, value for money remains what it is, very high.

    "Planned obsolescence" tend to work very well where the market has a few competitors. For example, the (life-time?!?) transmission fluid has not been in service package and maybe affected the warranty in some cases. In terms of design, A drain plug dismissed so far.

    I’m looking at buying either an MG Hs vibe or a Jolion Lux. Both are about $30,000 and seem to be similar size internally, both have a 1.5 litre engine. Which one would you buy after reviewing and owning the cars?

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think HS and Jolion are in slightly different categories - HS larger, Jolion smaller. More accurate 1:1 comparison would be Jolion vs ZST, so it's honestly hard to compare or recommend like this... BUT on the balance of things, if you're after size on the road and space for the passengers, HS is probably better, and if you're after value for money and getting a lot of extra conveniences of life that "Vibe" model would never give you - Jolion Lux would be much better.

  • @malcolmscott4150

    Export quality maybe a thing but I’d trust the MG SAIC brand as much as I’d question the folklore that exists around other brands that have become mainstays in our evolving market - in the 80s using a loophole in tax on imports we got commercial hatches from Japan that attracted innovative but really unsafe light cars into our market that sold well because new and cheap. Whilst an MG3 might lack latest safety gimmicks like lane keep assist these are much better cars yet even Wheels Australia sticks a buy a Suzuki Swift new/used as recommendation not to buy the 3 in their mag as the 3 is Chinese - hmmm me thinks sales figures show Aus buyers see value and warranty plus a good looking light car with a NA 4 cylinder 1.5 and despite dated 4AT it meets a gap in our market hence MG sales on up and up 👍

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't trust mainstream media recommendations, full stop. I also became more and more disappointed with the Australian mainstream car review outlets, as they are all on payroll and have a very limited angle and view at the cars. Not pretending to be a specialist, I believe I've given people more honest insights as the other privately owned international channels do... Sales figures vs. the number of complaints from real users are the only things that count.

    Hi
    Iam interested in this vehicle as I’ve recently had lumber back surgery and I need a sml suv for seat height to enter & exit. Iam 58. My son is very sceptical particularly about motor and sustainable. I live in a beach side town nsw. I drive to work and town. Mostly 10,000k a yr. Occasionally go away weekend, but not more than 300k.
    What’s your opinion on the motor please. I currently drive 2019 accent Hyundai. I’ve always had Hyundai. My previous Hyundai was a Tuson Highlander which had to be sold for divorce reasons in 2019. Thankyou for your opinion

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Kerrie, thank you for commenting.
      If you want to sit higher, I suggest that you take a look at other options, such as Haval H6 (the one I drive), rather than something like MG ZS as while being technically a "SUV", it's not that high, and feels more like a very slightly lifted car.
      I strongly suggest that you go sit in some of those cars at the dealerships - within your price category and decide what's right for you. If e.g. Haval H6 is slightly more expensive than you'd like (comparing to MG ZST), you could look for a slightly used one with plenty of warranty remaining and very low kms on the clock - again, like the one I'm changing for a Ute.
      That would likely fit into your budget - just an idea, especially if you like something like Highlander (which would be definitely higher than ZST).

    I know for a fact that for a car to be legally registered in china it has to be less than 15 years old and has less than 600kkm on the clock, anything beyond must be written off and scrapped. And this rule applies not only to Chinese made vehicles but land cruisers sold there too so cars made in china aren't meant to last forever. And about MG , SAIC does make and sell LHD version MGs in China but their sales numbers have been negligible compared to their export numbers.

    "Singing Machine" is correct. Domestic cars are not designed to last.
    The Chinese definitely have different grades of manufacture. The highest being export quality. Any vehicle leaving China will be the best quality they can afford. This doesn't mean the quality is good as say Japan but it will be better than the US. I have been in factories in China where 2 grades of gearbox bearings sit side by side, premium for export assembly cheap for domestic. This penny pinching extends right down to the quality of screws.
    No one should ever buy things direct from China based on price. It should always be on quality otherwise you get precisely what you pay for, which is junk. The factories will even tell you this, it is the Chinese way.
    Having said that, with respect to export motor vehicles; they are the best that they are capable of, they are definitely not trying to cut corners.
    Merry Christmas to all.

Chinese cars look good and some are actually pioneering designs but that's where it stops. no money is spent on engineering (drive train and engines are very low tech) and cars built for looks. Chinese do cut corners as price and return is king always over quality. However if you are like me and trade caRS EVERY 4-5 YEARS, maybe its a great value proposition selling before warranty runs out???

      Yes, on the balance of things, unless you plan to run the car for 10 years and then expect to sell for at least half its value (like Hilux) Chinese offer unbeatable value for money (and I'm not necessarily saying - SAIC/MG by the way....)

    South Korean cars where looked down on at 1 stage. Now in my opinion, Kia and Hyundai have priced themselves out of the regular family buyer because they are considered very good.

      But what's "very good" mate? My Haval H6 is very good AND within very reasonable price range. KIA has obviously improved its cars over the years, but the prices went so high up not because they became some amazingly good or value for money - go sit in a Kia Sportage and enjoy all the plastic you get for 50k - they just became more arrogant, like Toyota etc.

    Canada has no Chinese cars right now. The Gov is very protective of our almost non-existant auto manufacturing business.
    The big 3 American brands are still manufacturing here.
    So I am waiting to see if they will arrive on our shores soon.
    Good quality and good value will allow the Chinese brands to capture market share. This was Japanese and Korean strategy.
    The Koreans made a few initial mistakes with low quality models and this actually set them back. If the Chinese focus on value price and reasonable good quality they will win. American brands are over priced and not always the best quality. The Germans are just over priced and they are not going to be able to make anything in Europe as no Russian energy will be available after this conflict. Europe is screwed badly. Watch Russia make a high quality car in the near future.

      Very interesting insights, I had no idea a country like Canada would have such a "retro" stance on foreign products including cars. If they can keep domestic/US affordable - great! Who cares about China then. But if they don't, then it's a problem. Plus, this typically results in a monopoly-style market where consumer always gets the worst deal... And no, I doubt that Russia will make high quality cars mate, sorry. But they are smart enough about allowing friendly (and even not so friendly! lol) imports.

      @@ValueCarsAU Thanks for the response. Canada has a number of monopoly issues they don't like to talk about. Airlines, telecom, Rail, Auto manufacturing, Banking, .... not as free as advertised.
      I will beg to differ on the Russian car. It may not be Lada but I believe it will happen. In the Western countries we said the same about Japan, Germany, Korea and now China. All wrong !!! If you know history you will understand the future. Take care mate. The channel is great!
