I recently sold my mg zst top spec car for 24k with 7100km. Bought it brand new for 33990 in Feb 2023. I just found too many things that annoyed the hell out of me. 1. Can't turn off radio. 2. Paper thin sunroof. 3. Garbage vinyl seats when in the sun. 4. Really crappy infotainment system. 5. Premium fuel and full tank gets about 400km range. 6. Infotainment system randomly rebooted while driving a few times. 7. No rear seat vents, 8. No rear middle seat cup holders. 9. Mg dropped the price of the my23 zst top spec by $4,000 so it doesn't retain much value. 10. The 1.3 turbo engine has some weird turbo lag, 11. Depreciation... Chinese cars just don't hold their value. 12. Chinese car makers are currently selling their cars way below their rrp, the mg zst ev which was 49990 is currently on sale for 34990. 13. Tiny cup holders, 14. Apple carplay doesn't stay connected long even with official Apple cable, Never ever will I buy Chinese cars again. I ordered a Toyota rav4. I know it's more expensive but at least I know what I'm getting and it will hold value. I don't plan to sell my car for at least 5 years but something compelled me to sell the MG. Just my opinion and sharing my thoughts.
Who are u trying to convince? 1) left side of steering wheel has mute button??? 2) how thick should it be 3mm 5mm, 10mm? 3) Seats heat up in the sun? What a surprise! Thought about full tint? Doesnt it at least come with privacy glass? 4) name a car brand and price that's far better? 6) from what to what? built in Sat Nav? try Waze! 7) no rear seat vents! Boo hoo Name a brand and price that has? 8) ditto 9) current price of $30k you do know what a runout price is? 10) 6 speed transmissions in ZST are always better than CVTs !! 11) Maybe but until theyre 6-7 yrs old and done 60-80km, resale may suffer. 12" 10% off in runout mode is common. Havent u heard? 13) small cup holders? Try door storage or a smaller drink bottle ! 14) loss of internet signal occurs anywhere Conclusion a) Join the MG ZS/ZST FB group b) any vehicle that sells 58k a year with 80 Australia wide networks is on a winner. Dont take my word watch John Cadogan's critical reviews on other vehicles and the MG. He judges cars by the number of owners' complaints he gets, that they cant or wont fix. Guess how he rates the MG, folks? BTW, the RAV 4 hyprid is $48-52k. The ZST Turbo Excite is currently $30k and Essence about $33k drive away. Are u really comparing apples with apples?
I owned the 1.5l vibe based on the fact that I was going budget. Here are some things that you should know. If you bought the essence top of the line: It uses 95 Ron minimum because of the turbo engine. You can’t use 91 like the vibe or core hence why I choose the lower range. But is it less powerful? Yes it is but again down to personal choice, I am not carrying passengers daily and not racing so the 1.5 was fine. There’s no rear passenger cabin light As much as the sunroof looks great but it gets hot if not tinted. You will need to tint this car regardless which model to keep the heat out. The ac does not feel that cold in summer. I have owned my car since September 2023 and had service done 10k If you concern about steering, you can adjust it to lighter or heavier. I choose the 1.5l because turbo engines may have more maintenance. Mainly the ability to pump 91 vs 95 was a deal breaker. The seats gets quite hot so the base core model is actually the best imo even though it doesn’t look sporty.
I have watched a lot of your videos, and just know that you're really a good car reviewer! I dont know how you are not famous by now, but you deserve it!
Great video! Is the multimedia screen legible during sunny days as tested? How hot/uncomfortable is this synthetic leather upholstery? Is the 1.3T available in fabric seats?
Thanks! It's okay during the day, still not the best with glare. I don't find the synthetic leather to breathe very well, so it can get a bit sweaty on a hot day. And I believe it's only available with these seats.
It’s cheap because of overproduction in China. They are heavily subsidised by the Chinese, so benefit to buyers= Cheap EV. Quality, battery life etc remains to be tested over time.
MGs have exploded these past few years and I can’t drive anywhere without seeing loads of those little MG 3s (?). I can’t explain why I don’t trust the brand, I just feel suspicious of them! But recently pulled the trigger on a 2023 Kia Rio GT, so I guess I’m not the target audience for this car anyway! Love your videos :)
I would definitely would not waste $33,000 I would rather spend more money and to buy something that is established more in Australia and more reliable. That is just my opinion though
For an extra $6k, I'd pick up a Subaru Crosstrek. Far more capable, with demonstrable reliability, and (very likely) much better resale value (you'd get your $6k back after 2-3 years of ownership).
I can't believe that ignored the most important thing in the excite.. no electric seat adjt. Comfort is no 1.. bad error. So can I but exvite but omit the sun roof .but get an electric seat fir driver. Also aren't I getting vents I'm back for air-conditioning.. a shocking neglect of comfort again

I got a core. I see alot of break dust on my wheels. It that the same issue with you?
Please ignore my oversight on leaving a wonderful street scene for you all at 8:20...whoops

Hi Which one do you recommend kia stonic or mg zs, value for money wise?is mg zs slower than kia stonic?
Expensive cars are also not perfect and in some cases they are terrible.

Tbh I have higher hopes for the EVs
@@ProductReviewCars. I think you’re right, they’ll be the world powerhouse in EVs and more so in the coming years.

That's just brand marketing they need to work on. It's a completely rational response to a new car brand. Loved the Rio GT! And thanks :)
Chinese stigma probably

Fair enough
Some people do not have the extra cash it is what it is.
@@RodneyWexcluding insurance and accessories etc everything come at a budget. I could should all means nothing if the budget isn’t available
This is very reliable.
The T in ZST actually stands for trophy, not turbo.
But they don’t include the badge for core and vibe 1.5l
ZST OR T-CROSS??? 🤔
