Formerly the business development director for Cambridge Analytica, Brittany Kaiser was one of the employees who helped expose the company's misuse of Facebook data to influence the UK Brexit referendum and 2016 U.S. presidential election. She testified about her own involvement before the UK Parliament and Mueller Investigation, and has written two books about the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data scandal. This year, she has released Cambridge Analytica materials relating to numerous other foreign elections.

In the UK there is a law that requires companies to show you what information is held about you, whether it is on computers or on paper. This a called a a subject access request. Companies or government can charge £10 to send you all the data they hold about you. Is Facebook and Google subject to this law ?

The other interesting thing is the video that was posted on TH-cam by this young (late teen /early 20's) kid on Cambridge Analytica about 6 whole months before the mainstream media (right or left) started talking about it. He was in his car in what might have been a mall parking lot. He made reference to the "recent shooting" on October 1, 2017 Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. where 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, a man from Mesquite, Nevada, opened fire upon the crowd attending from his 32nd-floor suite in the Mandalay Bay Hotel. He went on to talk about all CA's British parent company SCL (conducting miltary Psyop Operation on a US civilian population) and of these intelligence agencies (British Intelligence) involvement in this and the billionaire Robert Mercer. This kid's YT account was shut down and deleted. How incredibly embarrassing to the sleep walking main stream media.

I'm a little confused by the idea that this data collection is a kind of theft. If someone was doing surveys on the high street, or sitting in a cafe making notes about the customers, like noting their gender, age, and what they chose to eat, should I be upset about the fact that they may find out these things about me? I know it is more invasive than that at times, but for the sake of the broader argument, I don't feel personally violated by it, and I do get something in return, like the video that I'm watching now! As to the manipulation of people through social media, well I think we all need to become responsible for our interaction with these platforms and develop our awareness of such possible influences being worked upon us. Any other approach is likely to end up in messy arbitration, limiting speech and inevitable bias (especially if this lady is in charge). If we know that political interests can and will try to use social media to influence us, we should digest it with the same discretion as we do all their other ploys in other media formats. I think that we will all have to grow up a lot in order to become good navigators in the ocean of information in which we now reside.

@Mark Golding I guess what you say could be right in the US because I don't study US law but I do study French and European Law (at the EU level and the European council level which are 2 separate entities) and there, "freedom of speech" and "human rights" are two concepts fairly well defined and to be short your freedom of speech (which is a human rights in the UE and the council of Europe) indeed ends where someone else's human rights begin. For example : freedom of speech can be limited by the right to privacy of someone else (for example if a tabloid is talking about someone's very much private life + if the information is not relevant to the public. But if the tabloid was proving a political scandal than the right to privacy won't be relevant) ; religious freedom (a human right) can be limited by the right to a family life (also a human right) so for example you can't refuse a parent's right to see his/her child because s/he is gay because and that would go against your religious belief. That would go against his/her right to having a family right (and maybe also his/her right to privacy).
So to conclude freedom of speech does ends where someone else human right begins except if you can prove that you exercised your freedom of speech in a way that was necessary and proportionate to the violation of the other person's human right AND that it could not have been done without violating his/her right.
Since it's a speech made by a British person she can very much fairly say that freedom of speech ends where others human rights begin.

It is beyond fascinating, that Christopher Wylie became the gay, pink haired, nose ringed face behind this unbelievably important scandal and decisive issue for the world's future. It is almost like someone wanted to keep people from taking the issue serious when you contrast that with this intelligent and very normal and well spoken young woman.
Now I don't point out Wylies problematic appearance because I have a problem with his life choices, or because I personally have a problem with any of those issues he visually represents. I take issue with the fact no one helped change up his appearance for the interviews so that he would be taken very very seriously. Instead it seems like they used him to prevent people from taking it seriously and that he steered people back into those same biases and personality models to control the damage and silence the issue so that the people using this concept could go back about their business with little concern.
Likewise this changes the narrative with a "pivot", that directs the damage control effort to a circular ethical discussion, instead of prompting action based decision making. It ends the possibility of further action.
