I hope you enjoy this little exploration into Edie Finch and her connections to family, life, and death. I know she's not everyone's favorite character but she is definitely interesting, that's for sure. If you're interested in more dives into the inner workings of character minds, then my video on The Sounds of Nightmares is worth checking out! th-cam.com/video/seqPb0t5E2A/w-d-xo.html
I'm so glad to still see people covering this game and it's story! I loved your interpretation of it. And suggesting Edie may have even gotten so obsessed with that attention she grew up with that she pushed Barbara to seek out that fame again makes so much sense. It always felt like she tried to live through her family members and their tragic death stories were no exception. Thank you for your video!🥰
Me too I love this game and it was about a month ago i got to finally play it myself instead of watching a play through. I will say that Gregory’s death is the reason I will be super protective of my baby in the bath in the future
I see Edie as both a victim of history and accident of birth, as well as a destructive force and unwitting catalyst for the disaster. By the end, Edie the younger’s journal is already continuing the cycle, if what we see in the final scene, with the boy in the graveyard with a cast on his arm is any indication. Very good video all around. I admire your attention to detail.
It's such a sad cycle that the family has been in for such a long time. Hopefully without the influence of the generations before him, the young boy will break that cycle.
What an amazing video and analysis. Edie, Lewis and Walter were three characters that I sincerely adored because they're written so profoundly and there are is so much to interpret with them. I loved your interpretation and thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! I agree that those three characters really had such a level of depth to them that really sticks with you. I appreciate the kind words.
I absolutely loved your narration. Your analysis really captured the complexity of Edie's personality and her controversial role within the Finch family. I found your point about her obsession with memorializing the deceased particularly intriguing. It made me think about how Edie's actions, while seemingly neglectful, could be seen as her way of coping with so much loss and tragedy. I love you encouraged us to experience the stories firsthand to understanding each character's fate. Can't wait for more of your videos :D
Thank you so much! I do feel like she's complex. So many factors happened in her life that I can't even begin to relate to. And we all cope in our own way...even when it doesn't seem to make sense. I appreciate you watching!
I’m always watching and rewatching analysis of this game especially when I am showing off this game to friends. I actually am getting my bf to play this . I find the theory that Eddie wrote the Molly journal entry interesting. I’ve always gone with the fever dream theory.
There are so many interesting theories about the game, but the one really stuck out to me. I'd be interested in knowing more about what your bf feels about the game. I am always sharing it with others and watching analysis too.
Great videos! Love the interpretation you have of single player experiences and video games as an art form. I'd be interested in hearing your interpretations for a ton of other games, especially Arise or Outer Wilds
I feel she's kinda similar to Jupe from Nope in a way for some reason, which is interesting to think about considering themes of exploitation I see in common with both of these two very different things. And esp seeing how you can see em have in common with how you understand what they have to cope with, however whatever they built around it as a way of coping made it more worse around other people they're with. Def a kinda tragedy I see in common for some reason.
That's such a good comparison and an important one too: that sometimes how a person copes with their trauma can end up having a ripple effect that hurts others in the end.

You're welcome. I agree that she was much too intertwined with their lives and deaths.

The Finch’s should have a safety video in every work place
😆😆😆
Even though this story has some dark themes, this game is beautiful. Love hearing your take on it 💜
It definitely does have a sad beauty

Thank you so much! I've actually have Arise and Outer Wilds in my backlog, so I definitely need to look into playing and covering those.
What a perfect game and what a great and interesting analysis! Great job and big fan of your narration!
Thank you so much! That means a lot...especially coming from talent like yours!

Haven't ever thought of her aa a villian
She's definitely one of those characters that people either feel bad for or are really angry with. She's so complex.
