JAY, You should def play “This Bed We Made”. You play as a maid who works in a hotel, find clues to solve a murder, while still doing your job along the way to avoid suspicion.
I've been wanting for jay to play that game

hello everybody my name is markiplier
God, this is such a heartbreaking story of so many tragedies. Thanks for the good cry, Gregory's part always gets me.
IKR he was just a baby who didn’t really start living his life yet… so sad to know he died as just a baby…. (Mollys is sad too but Gregory’s hit a little too hard)
Here is some advice: Please stop watching emo/disturbing games for your own mental sake, unless you can handle them. Nah fr I hate these type of games like wth goes in a developer mind to make such a dystopia? Fill your dam mind up with positivity, life will never be as dark as you make it.
@@Rai2YT I know my limits on sad stories and don't need a faceless stranger telling me that I shouldn't be then going off on how they don't like negative games and how you just gotta be positive. People are tougher than one sad fictional story. Crying over a moving story isn't going to make life darker I can promise you that. Would you rather this story be a happy positive experience instead of a sad one? Would you be happier if every game were closer to Mario than this?
Here is some advice: please don't tell people to stop watching stuff, no one likes being told to stop doing something they like to do. Me saying a sad game is sad isn't going to be the end of the world.

1:06:50 as someone with maladaptive daydreams, this entire section is actually very accurate to what I experience daily
As someone who "doesn't" have maladaptive daydreams but can feel myself slipping and dragging myself back constantly, that part made me connect so quickly. Cried a little (a lot). Seeing the struggle and going about life so methodically is something I didn't even realize about myself. 1:06:50
@@awkward_gremlin1297 he probably didn't have maladaptive daydreaming, he most likely has schizophrenia or psychosis. maladaptive day dreaming doesn't mean you can't tell what is real and what isn't

i will never get over how genius lewis' part was. you struggle at first with controlling both the fish chopping and the dreamland lewis was in but after a while your body is quick to memorize how the fish chopping works that you automatically just do it without thinking of it, and your focus is directed all towards the dreamland, much like how lewis turned machine-like. it's so heartbreaking when you think of it like that
That part kinda hit me the most. My own "dreamworld" like state isn't nearly as bad as Lewis', but there's sometimes more often than not that I just run on autopilot while my mind is elsewhere. In a way it's cool how the game portrayed that
hi sunny

the way how the dreamland grew bigger and bigger and took over, and even became more 3D at one point really showed how intense and real all this was in lewis’s head. i think his was the most well-executed story

I have a feeling that Edith, our narrator for this game, decided that the best thing to do for herself was to visit the house and find out the secrets that could complete her life before she had her baby. To find out the secrets of the houses halls and pass on the information before she forgot the memories and her curiosity. This is truly a beautiful game, and I love it, glad your playing it Jay.
To me, the most important thing in life is memories. Because even if you die, the memories you leave behind will make you live forever.

I'm late but.. What I noticed, especially during Walter and Lewis' story is that the closer they were to their death, the more spots appeared on their hands. Same. I watched some TH-camr (I think it was ihascupquake) play it and before I just enjoyed the narration and gameplay but never really understood or paid attention to the story. @@chaoticgaybirb2734omgggg I remember ihascupquake
This story was so sad yet truly so beautiful at the same time. I love how she told it. The author's ability to intertwine heart-wrenching emotions with a touch of beauty created a captivating narrative that resonated deeply with readers.
Sometimes i like to think at 37:55 when this part didn't shake like the other days, the train was slightly late so it makes sense as soon as the minute he left, the train arrived
It makes sense why everyday at 12 was shaking and that was because of the train. He just picked the terrible time to get out lol
that actually makes so much sense
That’s what I thought too, it’s sad how as soon as he went out. He was killed by the train. This game is sad asf
The attention to detail in this game is insane
This game makes me cry every single time 💔 The debate of whether the family is truly cursed or just subject to a self-fulfilling prophecy is so interesting and so beautifully told, especially when even the more fantastical deaths have a realistic explanation. Genuinely one of the best story games
the painter one is probably just self prophecy

What Remains Of Edith Finch is an amazing game
here's a couple of the deaths in case they didn't make sense
molly: ate holly berries and died while having hallucinations
great grandma edith: drank alcohol with her medications and overdosed
gus: got hit by his father and step-mother's wedding tent in a freak storm
lewis: severe depression and schizophrenia and put his own head under the chopper at the cannery
Bro didn’t explain the most weirdest one lmao what abt Barbara?
@@mittscxii4123 thought that was obvious. my bad dude. the thing about her being murdered in her own home was real. we don't know who did it but some intruder killed her and she fought back with the crutch
I kind of interpreted lewis's death as having severe mal-adaptive daydreaming and losing himself in it, then committing suicide to escape his own reality. But i could see how schizophrenia would explain things too.
So about milton, he just disappeared like that? And i noticed the timeline, edith died a year after her mom. Maybe when she gave birth to her son?
I honestly thought Molly ended up eating herself while having hallucinations
Unsure if anyone's explained this yet, but Milton was (I believe) confirmed to be the main character in another Giant Sparrow game called The Unfinished Swan- his room has a lot of paintings, sketches and easter eggs that depict aspects of the game.
While we're unsure what happened to Milton in Edith Finch, I like to believe his disappearance is one and possibly the only one of the supernatural things in game. Perhaps that magic door he flipbooked really did lead to the setting of The Unfinished Swan.
Edit: okay so I've learned through digging into lore deep enough that, apparently, magic DOES exist in the Edith Finch universe and the curse was very much real!
i personally take it as a more metaphorical thing instead of supernatural, to me it wouldn’t make sense to have supernatural elements when the rest of the universe doesn’t even hint at the supernatural being real
@@javiartem perhaps! I just find it fun to imagine
Wait, milton is the painting kid?? Mum was the queen??? What does that make edith?
@@javiartemhonestly I see it as a mix, some deaths/accidents are metaphorical for grief, some are supernatural (like barb and molly) and some are just accidents or flat murder
@@justaperson4656 barb was most likely murdered by her boyfriend at the time and molly most likely died from the combination of holly berries and toothpaste (this was in the 40s and there was lead in tooth paste tubes)
My favorite scene is the scene when she is climbing on the branch, and every time when a TH-camr plays this game is when they find out that the main character was pregnant. Their reactions will always like, “She’s pregnant!?” When I watched old playthroughs of this game.
How she fit through all the passages if she's pregnant xd
If you look down her belly is bigger than normal if you consider that she's a slim 17 or 18 year old girl.
@@breewashere They were big enough to fit a person inside but when you were going through the doggy door or going through the passage ways (I don’t really remember but it was around the beginning of the game.) she states that they were obviously made for smaller hands than her (She is talking about her height not the pregnancy). So I logistically speaking, it would be a hard time to deal with, but guess what it’s game logic. What are we gonna do about it. :D (I don’t understand how a pregnant woman can get through a doggy door though-)
the comment about the passages being made for smaller people made so much sense at the end
He didn’t even say anything about it 😭

IM SO HAPPT I LOVE THIS GAME AND I HAVE BEEN BINGEWTACHING JAYS VIDEOS
Same, so glad he is playing it! ^^
I love how fascinated jay was at 54:14 mans having the time of his life playing with toys
And then he realises how the baby dies
Odin: Drowning.
On his way to deliver the house+family to the "new land".
-Molly: Food poisioning from the gerbil food+toothpaste+berries.
Had hallucination before death.
-Barbara: Killed by an angry mob.
This is just an assumption, though. The story itself isn't really reliable.
-Calvin: Fell to his death from the swing (very oddly placed on the EDGE OF A CLIFF. what?)
-Gregory: Drowned in the bathtub.
-Gus: Killed by a flying debris/tent.
-Sam: Got hit by a deer/fell to death
would really be glad if someone could clerefiy me what exactly went on there. I didn't really get it from the game itself.
-Milton: Dissappeared. (I know there is a thing with him being a character in another game HOWEVER I haven't played it and also I think I would like to discuss him in the compounds of the game only)
-Walter: Run over by a train.
-Lewis: decapitated.
Suicide. Happened after a long period of slowly detaching himself from reality.
-Eddie: Old age.
This one stands out.
-Dawn: Died of illness.
-Edith: Childbirth
Consuming toothpaste and gerbil food won’t REALLY kill you, but holly berries are extremely poisonous to humands. They are what killed her
For barbra The railing is broke so someone or something had fallen off
Two things
1] The game Milton is in is called The Unfinished Swan (not that important, but thought I'd mention it)
2] I don't think Edie died of old age I think she committed suicide by mixing her medication with alcohol
Evidence
-Dawn (Edith mom) said that some of her medicine was very particular
-Near the beginning of the game Edith goes to the second floor every door is glued shut except two Walter's (which we enter) & Edie/Sven which is bolted shut rather than glued by a plaque that has Edie's date of death (2010) on it and who puts up all the plaques but Edie herself so she probably put that plaque up right after Dawn & Edith left right before she died herself
-Sorry I didn't think it would be that long when I started writing it (all in all though thanks for the list I was looking for one for a while now & it probably took about as long as this did so good job & thanks again)
Gus actually got crushed by the totem pole.
Evidence
-The totem pole outside the house has fallen and in the cutscene where the tent gets blown away, the totem pole is seen falling over

I feel like the curse was some genetic mental disease, like schizophrenia which led many family members to death in some way or another.
Of course, there are deaths due to recklessness or neglect, like Molly who ate poisonous berries cause she was hungry, or Barbara who was murdered, but somehow I can see a pattern. They were all artistic people, highly sensitive, stubborn, with vivid and bright personalities.
I love this game. It's primarily about death, but it's not scary or morbid. It's like a quiet walk at a graveyard, reminiscence of life, of grief, of loved ones, and ones of our family we never even knew. It's a good kind of sad.

51:49-Jay’s face
54:16-Jay’s faces while the frog moved
1:07:50- Jay predicting Lewis’ death but he was off about the hand part
Even if lewis' death is not exactly specified i think i have some sort of idea about what happened you can see throughout the game that he keeps daydreaming these fantasies and as you go further he gets more and more engulfed into this dreamworld so much that his hands chopping the salmon just start chopping by themselves because he's so used to it and his mother begging him to snap out of this sorta dissociative state but he's unaware of his real life he's just in his dream world and at the end when his heads in the guillotine, there are yellow stripes on it which are the same as in the cannery as well as the blade resembling the shape of fish so i think he may have put his irl head under the cannery's guillotine but was unaware due to be so wrapped up in his fantasy but thats just what i think if anyone has a diff theory id be happy to discuss in the comments :)
I think that's the most obvious theory, but just to add on to it, I remember watching a video a long time back mentioning that Lewis's death probably wasn't a quick one due to the blade. The blade was most likely dull so it wouldn't be a quick and clean cut. (Tw: for descriptive gore) But honestly the thought of Lewis's body just being there while the blade just keeps going down onto his neck is horrifying- but just food for thought 😊
@@L3mon435 omg thats acc horrifyingg poor lewis :(
The Doctor in the letter theorizes that he began to resent the fact that he was just a mundane human working in a cannery, and eventually grew to hate himself.
How did i only just realize that Edith was 17 when the game took place, meaning that she would've been a teen mom if she had survived the childbirth
This is a great game. Lewis's part resonated with me so much and had me in tears
My bf recommended this game to me , he knew I like stories and coming up with theories. Same Jay I was in my feels but it was such a amazing game.
Honestly I think that some were accidents and others were murders. Like Gus was just playing all by himself and everyone was inside. I think someone who was very close to the family could of just took advantage of their trust and killed some of them. Walter for example was so scared of a monster outside his door when it was just his family right but he was so scared he ended up just digging a path outside. Idk but this was really cool I loved it
the ending really got me
i started sobbing thinking about the fates of every family member and the twist at the end was so unexpected

@itz_trilly Well, Jay played Edith Finch, and he doesn't like being spoiled. He's said it in several playthroughs like the danganronpa series
@@Panthersclawhe said he wonders what happened with milton, the chances of him playing the unfinished swan is highly unlikely considering nobody mentioned it in the comments that i’ve seen and that it’s also not really a good game to make a video on opposed to just playing and taking your time
@itz_trilly Umm.. I mentioned the unfinished swan about an hour after the video was posted, and the comment has over 200 likes and a couple of comments under it. I think you might find it quickly if you go through top liked comments instead of newest 😅
