For around $35 on sale the little strap on remote ids are a great accessory for keeping track of your cat,. It also makes it easier to find your car if you are sight-seeing in an unfamiliar area.

The Autel Evo 2 Pro v1 & v2 chipset don't broadcast RID. Some of the earlier models of the Nano series also do not have RID built-in.. I've got the V1 thermal & v2 regular 6k. Added $89.99 Holystone RID modules with Velcro.

Hey Ken, at 2:18 you say that operators move away from their RID starting location to avoid conflicts and that it's against FAA regulations. Is that true? How does that apply if I'm flying from my boat? Can I be sailing along and flying, or would I be required to stop and anchor. Maybe ask Brian?

Technically yeah, but you can claim that you had to move to get a better look at your drone while flying it. It's all subjective anyway.

Under RID this is the "implied" rule.
Lots of current FAA regulations are very subjective, which is why there's so much confusion.
When is the next drone round up in Austin? I'd like to try and make it this year.

Question won’t the Wi-Fi mess with the 2.4 control signal or shorten your range for your 2.4 transmission from the controller or whatever video system
The remote ID unit uses a special Bluetooth band.
@@KenHeron Bluetooth that’s even worse. You’re not even supposed to use Bluetooth on your GoPro when flying. I think the communications of these remote modules should we check to see if they interfere with any of our FPV equipment? People are falling out the sky having fail safe because remote ID modules?

Sigh, Ken thinks that us DJI guys don't need RID modules... Let me introduce you to my Mavic Pro Platinum (promised to have RID, then retracted, thanks DJI) and my Mavic Enterprise 2 Dual (thermal, yay! but no RID, boo).
Yeah, some older drones will need a module unfortunately.

@@KenHeron yup! And the FAA complicated it further by saying that an RID module can be moved from aircraft to aircraft for recreational, but for a 107 flyer there must be one module on each aircraft. My older Mavic doesn't owe me a thing, but I'd like to keep it in service just in case - buying a separate module for it is unfair

I stopped flying my heavy quads and only fly sub250... even though I have the holybro remote id registered in it's app and ready along with the app the Karen's use.
Maybe Nick Burns had the right idea all along with all his tiny drones.

Until they change the rules again. I have a heavy quad that I invested quite a bit of money in before they started the rules. No way i'm going to just let it sit and build a new one.

I'm grateful to live in a sanctuary city. I don't need an FAA part 107, no remote ID, no rules, no regulations. Just me and my lil Mini 3 Pro.
In my opinion Remote ID makes no practical sense whatsoever. They will ‘improve’ it ,you just wait 😮
Imagine The Internet of Things, once Web3 is old enough to be too slow for our traffic. Anywhere there are people living in dense populations, there's going to be so many sensors, for each individual person, that our minds won't keep up. We'll just stop seeing them, and thinking about them. [ If Facebook was able to use a Shadow-Profile, of a person who didn't even have a FB account, to predict personal events in that person's life before said person was even aware of it, ]
An AI, or a prediction / model building Bot with tomorrow's data-stream is going to be able to see into the future, ore some crazy sh1t.

I have a remote ID module when i fly my big drone but most of the time i forget to turn the dam thing on, the FAA has the serial number of the remote ID module, so hell with it, sometimes it's on and sometimes it's not. LOL

Correct me if I’m wrong though, maybe Im missing something. But I don’t know of any regulation that states as the operator you have to stay in one place. Most RID modules are garbage. They include their own lipo; yet another thing to charge and more weight. I thought we were long past that with BEC. They should run off of the system power. Also, most include a GPS module. This increases price and is another thing that needs good reception. You cannot fly until the 2nd GPS gets lock. There are a few modules that are just the broadcast part and that's it. I am running one of them. But they are quite rare which is crazy.
if you correct and update your gps homepoint after moving from the initial launch spot, does that rectify the violation?
You live in Tennessee Ken. Just arm yourself and fly at will. It’s really that simple. I use my drone to check impact locations on targets too far away to see clearly.
