As a kid who grew up in Quebec in the 90's these names bring back so many memories. This Expos team was fantastic , every bit as good as the great Expos teams of the late 70's and early 80's but with a lot less cocaine but were tragically disbanded by a strike and a clusterfuck of an ownership group led by a wuss in Brochu

The week before, my parents and I, along with one of my Challenger League teammates and their family, were in Montreal to see Larry Walker hit the walk-off home run vs Colorado.

Never a.waste what are ypu talking.about? Its the ride the journey, not the title. 94 expos, we talk about them.bc they are great. Almost. Like the 89.Orioles. Great team of youth that had no.business battling and spending the.majority of theseason in first.
Never think that its a.waste to.enjoy or baseball.

Wish they played games in their blue jerseys! So many missed opportunities! They wore their throwbacks in 1999 and they never sold them in store! My brother and I searched for ever. Easier to get a throw back today than it was back then, even at Olympic Stadium. :-(

Ah the Expos. The reason I never felt sorry for the Cubs during their championship drought, and now Cleveland during theirs. There is always next year for those teams. There is only one thing missing from the game: The Montreal Expos. DO THE RIGHT THING MLB!!!

Visit the Montreal Baseball Project website and leave a comment for organization president and former Expo LF/1B Warren Cromartie. Cro and his crew are working hard to make it happen.

Brewers fan here and the Expos were always my Fav NL team. I'm hard core pulling for you guys to get your team back and that 2nd team back in Canada where they belong. Marlins & Rays average between 9-10,000 a game, either of those would be a perfect candidate.

Grissom beat out an infield single in the first inning by half a step, totally blown call, even when I saw it the first time, shows you how replays could have fixed so many errant calls, but the games moved a lot quicker and both teams are operating under the same rules and umpire errors, so still not sure which I prefer. Hate the way current managers can wait for the replay before deciding, should be done instantly.

As a Cubs fan, I wish the strike would have happened in 1995. They were horrible in '94 and it would have been nice to see the Expos maybe go to the WS that season.

Sammy Sosa as a leadoff hitter. The loaded Expos who were robbed of an opportunity to win the World Series. Interesting times. Still could never figure out why they couldn't wait until AFTER the season to negotiate a contract. The strike in August was the dumbest thing ever.

What do we know definitively about the NL East in the 90s?
    The Braves win.
    Right?
I've always thought it was a stretch for people to think that 94 was a given for the Expos. They were good, no doubt, with many of their players going on to have careers that were noted for excellent production and post-season acclaim. But it's an exaggeration to claim that the strike 'stole' that division title.
There's just as legit a chance that the Braves would have turned the trick, winning the 94 pennant like they did all the other years during the John Surholtz and Bobby Cox era. The Braves were a great team, and, most importantly, they had a history of closing out September schedules with champagne. For as good as those Expos were, their track record was nowhere near as established. That resume alone is why it's too great a leap to the conclusion that 94 was the Expos'.
Now, I certainly feel bad that the strike stole the thrills of a September race from Montreal and their fans. That the city lost their team only added to the tragic quality of memories of that summer. But it's more lore and mythology, a misplaced revisionism, that gives the 1994 season to the hard luck team from Quebec.

Weak contrarian argument. Of course nothing is certain. Yankees had a strong team too. Braves were choke artists tho so even if MTL made the wild card they were in good shape, like Harry said it didn’t matter who won the division that year, Expos were stacked, so was NYY. Nice to dream

Yes those cubs were terrible...but cub fans of a certain age will long for a day when Harry and Steve were calling the game...every game was on WGN.. Wrigley hadn't been molested yet...the cubs weren't elietest....we longed for a title.....true love existed and cell phones and social media didn't...win loss record not applicable
