I was nine growing up in New Jersey during this time. They were on national TV in the states so much in late 79's-mid 80's I just sort of adopted them as a team I liked. I do not keep up with baseball anymore, They lost me after 94 and when the expos left years later, so outside of this I do not watch any games. Thanks for posting these, nice memories
Keith Jackson & Howard Cosell broadcasting legends! I miss this high quality play by play sports announcing. Too bad the new school announcers lack the professionalism of these two titans!
i am shocked at there record at this point in the season.....not sure how it turns out for LA (shhh don't tell me....i want to find as many 79 dodgers games as i can i see what happens!)
And he was great to listen to on ABC's NBA broadcasts in the early 70s, with Bill Russell. A wild factoid is that Don Drysdale, as the third announcer in this booth winds up dying in Montreal, while working Dodgers broadcasts in July of '93.
@@JohnSmith-op1tc - Drysdale was a solid, incredibly informative broadcaster. Listen to his call of Kirk Gibson's 1988 World Series HR call. Amazing, may be the best of all the calls that night!
These classics are great! Did Expos televise any games vs San Diego that season? Please add some old memories of Jack Murphy Stadium in late 70s if any exist, I'd love to watch those
This was the start of a team that should have won multiple world series. Sadly clubhouse issues (including a significant amount of cocaine) and questionable management decisions led to the team failing to live up to it's potential
Before this game, the Expos had a 5.5 game lead in the division. Including this game, for the rest of the season they played .578 ball. And yet they still lost the division. Just goes to show how hot the Pirates were in the second half of the year.
Someone always rose up for one year and took the division, and frequently the World Series. 1979 Pittsburgh 1980 Philadelphia 1982 St. Louis. 1986 New York Mets Cubs also had their moment, though not a world series title, in 1984.
Beleaguered Tommy Lasorda:) - Only Howard Cosell asks that question - Miss that Guy, really Miss Tommy! Love those Jackets, so Great to see Don Drysdale - RIP to All of them
Manfred is a bum! He and Selig have ruined the game forever! Their greed, stole the game away from the fans and made it super corporate! No wonder MLB attendance is down league wide...
@Matt A - I agree! Keith Jackson, Cosell and Drysdale! I could listen to them call a ball game any day of the week. High quality sports broadcasting. Drysdale imparts lots of wisdom! ESPN would rather play PC politics! Not a fan of ESPN broadcast these days. It's very amateur.
@@ShmuelWeintraub It was not at all disgraceful. He isn't wrong. That chick is aweful and only has a job to virtue signal to the lame SJWs out there. It's pathetic and unwatchable. The chick can't even recognize a fastball.

friggin awesome watching these old games!!! i never have to watch current MLB again!
Lasorda in "job jeopardy?" Not hardly. He's a legend.

Agreed, although Howard didn’t show much professionalism when he stole the Chris Chambliss call from Keith in ‘76.
Great to see my favorite dodgers, great post! thank you.
Make sure you subscribe and share!
+Expos Classics, okay I'm on board. Do you by chance have any video or games from the great Jarry park?
Thanks again for the posts.

New game tmrw! Very sorry but I've been busy
Awesome
nice to watch gary carter work behind the plate and andre dawson in centerfield when they were in their primes.
TL swog it was a great duo in the lineup!
Derrel Thomas took some flak for those basket catches
Although Keith Jackson is the best College Football Announcer ever, He wasn't bad doing baseball.

Billy! My favorite pitcher. ⚾️
A complete game shutout for Bill Lee on 92 pitches. A Maddux!
Andy Ashby threw a 75 pitch gem vs Colorado 1998.

most shocking to me, if i hear right, is lopes had 17 HR at the midpoint?!?!?
I always loved Derrel Thomas's crotch catches. Hot-dogging makes the game more fun, especially when it's done routinely
I remember imitating that catch in neighborhood games, even picked 30 as my uniform number when we put together a 15-U team.
Derrel Thomas channeling Willie Mays with the basket catch!
Catch the lewd off-air comments at 1:02:50 by Cosell and Jackson.
@M - YYYAAAWWWNNN!!!! Soccer = Boring sport!
i couldnt tell what they were saying.

1979 Pittsburgh
1980 Philadelphia
1982 St. Louis.
1986 New York Mets
Cubs also had their moment, though not a world series title, in 1984.
Expos couldn't beat the bucs head to head
Do you have any content from 1981 playoffs vs Phillies and 1981 2nd half clincher vs Mets ?
Potential Excitement to see classic baseball. However this video is interrupted with a very loud buzzing hum.
Love those Expo uniforms before they added the hideous stripes in 1980.
Jackson and Cosell laughing at Yeager hitting 190 is kind of obnoxious.
Cosell and Obnoxiousness go together like toast and butter
Bill Lee was the Expos Ace in 1979.
Whoa Nelly it's Keith Jackson!
How Eerie - at the 48;40 mark the commercial in the background is talking about the World trade Center
Dodgers, world series hangover.
Andre Dawson = One of the best players of all time
Dawson is over rated and a choke
Beleaguered Tommy Lasorda:) - Only Howard Cosell asks that question - Miss that Guy, really Miss Tommy! Love those Jackets, so Great to see Don Drysdale - RIP to All of them
Rodney Scott had a swing similar to Willie McGee.
"Cool Breeze"
Is that Cheech Marin playing 2nd for the Dodgers?
Nice one! It's only Davey Lopes, who had quite a year for an average Dodgers team in 1979.
Too bad Manfred doesn't sound too enthusiastic about a return of MLB to Montreal, that's a shame..
Manfred is a bum! He and Selig have ruined the game forever! Their greed, stole the game away from the fans and made it super corporate! No wonder MLB attendance is down league wide...
Looks like MLB wants a team in Montreal.
MLB wants a team in Cincinnati too
Don sutton kicked steve garveys arse and became my favorite player. (Garvey was a good player, but a horrible person)
what was special about this game?
Nothing, i just want expos fans to see their heros take the field like it was yesterday
+Expos Classics no problem
+Expos Classics keep'em coming SVP.
ESPN does MNB now with a 'has been' MLBer and a lesbian former softball player. No thanks!
Your comment is disgraceful. I imagine you are too.
