I remember watching this happen, and thinking, oh snap! Here come the Expos! I lived in Georgia and was a Braves fan. I would like to see Montreal get their MLB team back!
Still remember that game like it was yesterday. Watched it at my Uncle’s house in SoCal and won’t forget how both of us (originally from Montréal) went crazy when Floyd hit that 💣 - it was that moment when I thought that this was our year. 😢
You look at the Expos here. Then you look at the 2005 White Sox and the vintage Angels teams of the late 90's early 00's. You could see the Expos blueprint on those teams. They have strong starting pitching, they catch the baseball, they make consistent productive outs. Most importantly, this Expos teams didn't just wait around for the homer. They made it happen on the base paths. This is the way they game should be played and is completely lost upon 85% of the teams today. Thanks for posting this. This is phenomenal!
mike mcginnis "smallball" wins alot of games and this expos team was the king at playing it..pretty sure they would of won it all in 94..I would love to see the expos come back but montreal needs a new stadium in order for that to happen
@@tazztower44 they wouldn't have won it all, because just like Cleveland and Chicago, the Expos were cursed, proven by the 2019 World Series when the home teams lost every game! That's how much of a curse it was, they had to go to DC, then wouldn't win any home game! Thank goodness the AL had "home field advantage"!
Awesome upload. Thx!! Grissom is a player both Montreal and Atlanta fans can love. Too bad no Larry Walker in this game. One of the best of that generation and no steroid rumors.
Best team ever! I was at the BIG (O) ... They having everything , DEFENCE , STARTING PITCHING , BULLPEN , SPEED, HITTING , POWER , and CLUTCHING players ! I'm too exciting for their return in the city
I’ve never been a Braves fan but I used to love listening to Skip Carey. One game against my Mets the Braves pitcher walked the bases loaded and Skip said, “They’re loaded..and the way things are going, I wish I was.” I couldn’t stop laughing.
Some true baseball experts say this may be the best team to ever take the field and I gotta say I would have to agree with them. This team had an answer for anything that was thrown at them. Well anything except a strike... And what came from that stoppage? Nothing except robbing us 'spo's fans of what could have been. Thanks a lot Budladen
If you watch "The Colorful Expos" video, Floyd talks about that homer and what happened to the Braves locker room after that game. Note: Maddux only gave up 4 homers ALL SEASON.
I remember watching this game as a kid and I felt that was the night that the Expos came alive. Such a shame that the strike ended what could have been a much deserved World Series win.
Was so epic in the 7th when C Floyd "swats" a 3iron laser to right for a 3 run knock off of G Maddux...and also ending Gregs night and sending him to the showers...one of the best if not the best moments in that unfortunate strike shortened season..
Nice to hear Skip Carey again...grew a Cubs fan so seeing him as a Brave always hurts...little did we know none of this mattered...in about six weeks the season was stolen from us ..
Thanks man, actually been looking for the intro for TBS from 1994! I believe Montreal would have won the WS had the 94 season did not get cancelled after August due to the strike.
'kin right! It was a long time ago, so I can't remember why I disliked Greg Maddux so much. I think he was just a little too cocky: because of his success, probably. It felt SO good to see him chased. Heart breaking year for Expos' fans (like me), though.
They probably would have ended up just a game apart by the time it was said and done. But, 1994 was the start of the Wild Card, so one of them was likely going to win the division, the other the Wild Card.
Maddux was lousy in big games for some reason. That's why the Braves couldn't win in Cleveland. He is a lot like the way Clayton Kershaw is today, great in the regular season, but if the pressure is on him, he folds like a cheap accordian!
its easy to forget ,how good the expo's were that year. ( this game was without Larry Walker) watching again for at least the 3rd time, that first inning was SO expo's baseball, small ball :)
While neglecting homework I watched just about every Braves games from 91-99 Random thoughts: - If Klesko had been eligible for a HR derby: look out - Lou Frazier bats 2nd? Didn't do anything before 93 and after 94 - I had multiple Wil Cordero Triple Play cards - Maddux left to right fade is sick - Why is Pecota playing 3rd? The 1994 Pendleton had back spasms and the Braves didn't resign him. Bring up Chipper! - Walker, Alou, Floyd, White, and later Vlady? Not fair - 90s commercials: Have at least a faint memory of most of these gems - Ken Hill's son would later play starting QB at Texas A&M - Girls from 94 loved Javy Lopez - The Braves fell in love with Grissom THIS game - we can see why they signed him in 95 - @42:00 Maddux bunts: foul bounces up knocking his helmet off and he strikes out - it's just not your day - 2x Double plays in first 3 innings for Hill: you know it IS your day - Moises: could flat out rip liners - Was Walker hurt this game?
the reason why Atl was not gonna catch the Expos for the division was mainly because Tom Glavine and John Smoltz were having down years. Maddux was amazing (won cy young). But I do think Atl was gonna win the wild card at the very least in 1994.
first of all, montreal expos 1994 was one of the most dominating team in mlb history. Also, whats wrong with the pitch at 3:06,38 . was it too much dead center
2024 will be the year that the MLB will expand to 32 teams in Montreal Expos(National League) and New Orleans Zephyr(American League). Bring back the Canadian rivals between Blue Jays and Expos also new rivals between New Expos and Old Expos(Nationals).

What a team!!!speed ,power, clutch, defence ,pitching and great coaching staff

They wouldn't have, their curse wouldn't let them, and the curse breaker Theo Epstein was still in college in 1994.
Idk about that the reds were 4-2 against them that year
2:21:00 "the moment"!!😊😉

Damn shame the season ended prematurely. Montreal has a hell of a team. Atlanta was solid as they always were in the 90s.
They probably would have ended up just a game apart by the time it was said and done. But, 1994 was the start of the Wild Card, so one of them was likely going to win the division, the other the Wild Card.

Skip Caray always such a homer....grew up watching TBS and he was the only one I could not stand
well he was paid by the owner of the braves what did you expect
This feed ended just like the 1994 season!
Exactly! Im pissed
I miss this type of baseball. 2 starting pitchers still in the game in the 7th inning.
now the starting pitcher lasts 4-5 innings
Ya I've noticed that with toronto
Best team in baseball in 1994.
Maddux had a 1.56 ERA in 1994...seems like 1/2 his runs were allowed in this game.
