      Unfortunately this will never happen. Steve is pushing 70, and he doesn't have anywhere close to the range he did 35 years ago. I'm sure he'd like to always be remembered for the amazing vocalist he was for so many years, rather than come back and have to key each song down 2 to 3 steps just to be able to hit the notes. I certainly don't blame him.

    • @Hibernicus1968
      @Hibernicus1968 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Glorify Him - GH, as much as I wish you were wrong, I agree. I remember after Franks Sinatra died, reading one of the only honest obituaries about him I ever saw in the Irish Times (I was living in Ireland at the time). The author referenced Sinatra's 1986 Dublin concert, which I had seen a recording of, and you could hear how far off his best Sinatra was by then, and how he was really struggling with certain numbers. The author acknowledged that while there was a time when Sinatra was the best, bar none, it probably would have been better if he'd retired in the late seventies and stayed retired. The people who went to see his concerts were doing so more out of nostalgia for the singer he'd been in his prime. The sad fact is that if Perry reunited with Journey today, they'd sell out shows, but he couldn't duplicate his performances from the eighties, and he may well not want to be remembered at less than his best.

      Cain (Frigga) was and somewhat is still a very good songwriter and keyboard player, not singer. But he lucked in to Journey, just like they lucked in to Rolie recommending him for the band when he left. Cain is disrespectful of past members, especially Perry, who made his songs even better. Did you ever hear the Cain version of Faithfully? His voice sucked. Cain owes Rolie, Perry & Schon all the praise in the world.

      It seems they al had a part in people going, Neil and gregg didnt want perry then herbby pushed it said it was going to happen so gregg origanly didnt want perry and then he is in an interview saying he always like perry and wanted him so my deal is rolie didnt want the lead singer spot taken from him and resented that and ultimatley thats why he left although rolie says it was for different reasons but my opinion is it was the lead singer spot, now dunbar left for his own reasons and they got smith, getiing rid of ross and replaced with jackson was neil and steve pretty much and cain, what im saying is all members pretty much had a hand in smeone leaving or told to go and come back, so to say Cain owes a thanks to whoever is a moot point you could say neil,ross,gregg aynsley owe a thanks to perry for the sucess of the band origanlly journey was around 7 or 8 years before perry came on and they put out a few albums but journey became journey AFTER perry came on and would never of became what they became with out perry, you know all their replacement singers all sound like perry and thats what neil wantedagain this is all my opinion right or wrong, the journey that was the hit band in my opinion was Steve Perry, Neil Schon, Johnathon Cain, Ross Valory, and Steve Smith yes i rambled on All of the members from the beginning to now are all very talented

    • @Holly707
      @Holly707 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@geoffnason1428 I agree with everything you said. I believe Rolie left because he did resent Perry. As much as Rolie denies it, I don't buy it. As for Cain, if he was such a great song writer then why did his last band he was in did not do so well? Why after he joined Journey did his songs do so much better for the band? Because of Perry. For two reasons. Perry sang them and he co wrote them. Perry's influence had a huge part in their success. Perry was what made them so successful.
      Since Neal and Jon fired Steve in 1998, they have not been as successful and Jon has not written a song as big as Don't Stop Believin' and Open Arms.
      Journey today knows this and instead of taking responsibility of their poor judgment call to fire Steve they blame Steve and say bad things about him here and there.
      Over the years that they have been separated, fans have missed out on great music and songs that never got to be written, played and heard. We got cheated out of that. Perry got cheated out of being able to sing them for us.

      Yeah that's just not true, respectfully. The music was different, but not worse. There's no denying that Steve is an incredible vocal talent, but those first few albums have some great, free-flowing music. The band was less constrained by the need to put out hit singles. That's the cost of fame: it forces you to constantly compete with yourself. The band was under no such constraints in the early years. It can make for a more authentic art, if less popular

    What goes on behind closed door with rock stars? Jonathan Cain join the ranks of Dan Peek of America, B.J. Thomas (Raindrops keep falling on my head), Al Green, Barry McGuire (Eve of Destruction) that turned them into Christian musicians. With Cain, I guess it was the school fire that kill him, or with Peek, possibly the time he fell off the balcony and survived. Or it might be the endless cycle of performing then being too jacked up to sleep, sex, drugs and rock-n-roll that did them in.
