Just heard the news of Fletch's passing. So so SO glad he was able to celebrate this monumental milestone with everyone before he went. Rest in peace Fletch, thank you for all you've done for us as fans and for DM.
Agreed! perfectly said!
Absolutely. RIP Andy Fletcher
😭😭👍🖤🖤🖤🖤
Absolutely. What a loss :( RIP Andy
Yes! I was thinking the very same! Sadly, the RNRHOF has been far too late with getting many deserving bands inducted in. There's still many great bands from the 60's and 70's to still get inducted and many of the members have passed on. Depeche Mode is one of my favorites bands and a very unique band. Well deserved Depeche mode! R.I.P. Andy Fletcher!
I respect Dave for acknowledging Alan Wilder's contributions which was pivotal in creating their unique sound, especially evident on Violator.
Shows what a decent Charakter he is even after all those years..DM is a role model how to behave when famous.
There is a reason why they will be forever!!!
Mamador
Vince Clark
Alan&Vince
huge respect to dave for that, although i will acknowledge that he's always been hugely complimentary of him, and out of all members alan was probably closest to him - probably the only member alan would consider a friend. martin's always been a bit uncomfortable talking about the circumstances of his departure (although ultimately recognises how important he was), and andy... well, he's always come off as a petty and resentful dick about it and likes to make it seem that alan was just bitter that he wasn't getting paid more than him
DAVE: "Music saved us".
US: *Your* music saved many of us too mate. 💙
@Theodisc Absolutely 👍
🥰🥰🥰
So true 😉
DM music saved me. Congratulations lads and thanks.
It absolutely did.❤❤❤❤
I wonder if these guys truly understand how special their music is. There's no way they can ever understand the impact on my soul. On my heart. Rest in peace andy. You are legend!!!!!!!!
they are the reason the universe exists
Fletch seemed like a great guy!
Absolutely ❤
They couldn’t understand.
Amen
I feel the same way! There's no way to express in human language how they've touched and changed me.
They deserved way more, like a proper ceremony, with red carpet, interviews, live performance... Damn covid
TWO of my favourites this year! DM and NIN! Damn Covid couldn't hit a year with duller bands!
So true
I agree to 100%!
Fully agree..Hopefully they can do a belated ceremony later on...
You re right 👍😉🇨🇭
Martin's smiles are like sunshine through a cloudy day.
he looks so much better natural without that horrible black-eyes-paintings he used to wear on stage....:-)
I would press like, but now it is 101. :DD
He had his teeth fixed
Oui, même avant qu'il les fasse refaire, il avait déjà ce sourire solaire 😁😉 ! Yes, even before he made them fixed, he always had this solar smile 😁😉
Very true 👍🏻
'You'd still have been stealing cars, Dave', classic Fletch.. Rest in peace lad, you were DM's tower of strength.
Yes indeed, he makes me laugh too. Still Steeling cars 😄😄
Rest In Peace, dear Fletch. Thank you for being a part of the background soundtrack for many of our lives for decades. Glad you were able to experience these RRHOF induction. Rest easy, mate.
Yes, well said. Andy Fletcher/ Depeche Mode truly has been a part of the background soundtrack for many of our lives.
@@lulaloo Alan Wilder . fletch wasn't musically talented but still rip
Classy move by Dave to thank Alan and Vince. Makes me love these guys all the more after all these years.
Alan was inducted too, he just didn’t participate in the call
@@basehead617 that's a shame.
Without Alan Wilder, Depeche Mode is just another rock band.
@@basehead617 As Vince Clarke didnt
Dave takes the lead, Martin laughs and smiles, Fletch claps his hands. They're all doing what they do best. Seeing these boys trying to Zoom absolutely made my day. Love you guys!
DM Boomers? Nah- the Eagles are boomers. DM belongs to the generation that followed.
Depeche Mode influenced a whole generation of electronic music. So deserving! Congrats!
Not only electronic music, but alternative rock in general.
I just cannot believe they were not inducted earlier...
Martin is such a delight. His lyrics cover so many emotional topics: love, lust, passion, greed, envy, even death, heaven and hell, life, you name it, his lyrics cover a very broad palette and yet……the man is so delightful and cheery and smiling and joking in every clip I’ve seen. RIP Andy. Amazing man, and Dave you are a mountain of strength. Overcoming addictions and being a light for many to follow. Watching these guys horse around never gets old. Love DM. Very excited for the new album, Memento Mori. ✌🏼
David wakes up in a leather jacket.
What a cool dude
He’s one of those people, doesn’t have to try . ..
Thats true Vince Clarke, and Alan wilder are dépêche mode too. excellent Dave to mention thèm in Your speech. It make You bigger that You already are.
That means they are inducted too
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✨
Biggest sounds of DM were by AW so would have been unacceptable not to mention him tbh.
Dave was the member closest to Alan and I remember Dave mentioning many years ago that he should've fought harder for Alan to stay in the group, but Dave was fighting his own demons back then and Alan made his choice..
A truthful, humble, funny, no b*shit, sassy speech. They were and still are so great. Honestly, most of the artists give so much fakeness when they receive these awards, it's good to see them being themselves as always
Indeed a great speech of gratitude. Smiles and laughs were soo good to hear. They rock it. Congrats!!! God bless them!
I still can't believe Fletcher passed away. It was out of nowhere. At least he had the chance to enjoy the induction. Godspeed Andy!
60 is to early, but heaven has got now a wonderful musician. RIP, you will be remembered by many.
It really is so sad. Sooooo many people are dying suddenly lately from those poison shots!!
@@mauryknows200 You got that one right... Sad that no one seems to put 1 and 1 together...
@@danielthommen8243 It’s so obvious! My sweet and smart 18yr old triple vaxxed niece has been in and out of the hospital for the past 3 weeks for circulation problems and she had 2 surgeries for 2 different blood clots!!!
@@mauryknows200 Yeah, sure, before the vaccine no 60 years old ever died of a heart attack. Hell, even my 56 years old neighbor died suddenly from a heart attack in 2019.
Its heart breaking to see Depeche Mode accept their induction to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this way. But very happy as well because they simply deserve to be inducted.
Totally agree!
Lol they're not even rock n roll just one of the many insipid new wave trash from the eighties. What a farce
@@maxrav1831 you don't have to be a rock band to get inducted in RRHOF. There's a lot of pop artists in there
@@maxrav1831 Max, may you find peace and happiness in your life one day. There was no need to trash someone cause you don't like them or their music. We all have different tastes for music, food, sports and what not. Hope you're doing good m8.
Maybe in a RRHOF anniversary concert they could perform.
Dave Gahan lived long enough to get inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame. With all the ODs he went through to get here, props to the guy.
Dave hair...this guy just can’t stop being so cool!!!!
Even.letting it grey now look good
He is so fucking cool for sure!
Yes, he`s looking great!
I'm not gay or anything but ide dump my boyfriend for him...... 🤔?

Andy Fletcher's death is a true loss for all the greatest fans like me, who follows this incredible band since I was a little kid. You'll be missed a lot, Fletch. 😢💔
THE MOST BRILLIANT BAND OF ALL TIME 🖤
@1banana2kiwis I side with the girl.
@1banana2kiwis Her thoughts and choice, don't be a dick!!
Yes!
Oyeessss,and Legend!!
Everyone in the world has to have at least one song on at least one playlist. Or if you're like me, numerous dedicated playlists of only DM material. I've bought all their material at least three times over the decades, starting with cassettes, then CD's, and now digital downloads LOL. Think about it though.
Life without Depeche Mode would be a mistake!
Hats off m Stella, you describe my thoughts in one phrase
Very happy that Fletch got a chance to hold this trophy - what a legacy! What a band! They gave a soundtrack to my life... till this day. My heart breaks. RIP Andy.
Depeche Mode have become a part of my soul. A lot of respect to Dave for mentioning past band members and for not forgetting them. It was heartwarming. Thanks Dave. Thanks Alan for everything you did for Depeche Mode. Congratulations guys, I love you.
😍😍😍😍поддерживаю
The Cure have become a part of my soul! Gotta see them for the first time in Seattle, Washington this year. But I’ll start listening to Depeche Mode too. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this band!.
The boys definitely haven't lost their beauty, they're still as handsome as ever. They all have aged like a fine delicious wine. I absolutely love Depeche Mode and have loved them for many years now. Wonderful in every way. 😁😊💖💕🥰 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
In fact David never looked as attractive as now!
dave is still fine
🥇🥇🥇👑👑👑👍👍🌟
Fletch and Martin look aged. Dave is de-aging 🤣
Classy of Dave to give kudos to Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder. Glad for Fletch to receive this honor before he passed😊
Without alan they wouldnt be where they are for sure
I love Depeche Mode 🤩 Congratulations to Dave, Martin, Andy, Alan, Vince. Thank you for all these years of good music and for being part of my life 💕
I love the fact that they thanked and credited Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder, even still saying they are apart of the DM family and history...that was very nice of Dave to say that.
I can't even start to explain how much I love Martin. Martin is the soul of Depeche Mode 🙌🏻
I love you then
Martin is the soul of music! 🎶
I remember Martin 1st solo album, love it!!
You are correct! Martin Gore is a god....well they all are 🖤🖤🖤
You are so right! I love his lyrics..and when he sings songs..💜
Wow, Depeche Mode has and still is part of the musical soundtrack to my life.. so glad I saw the Global Spirit Tour.
RIP Andrew Fletcher
Glad that they mentioned Vince, Alan, Daniel Miller, Mute Records, and others.
Absolutely agree! It speaks so well about them, in my opinion. I love them, though!
@Aaron Soto Aguero Alan Wilder deserves it way ahead of of Vince Clarke
@@hippriest9448 You probably right. They should’ve invited Alan.
I thought exactly the same
And Christian Aigner who brings the programmed rhythm to life
This is bittersweet now. We miss you, Fletch. I’m glad that you were able to see this happen in your lifetime.

Ты один кто написал по Русски ,я согласен с тобой это должно длится вечно.Привет из Грузии...
Well deserved gentlemen! Your music has touched millions of us and in every corner of this planet, there is someone who is a total DM devotee. Why is that? Because your music is so unique and the lyrics of your songs are so powerful. Through every decade since the 80's, you have taken us on a journey of emotions. You have been the soundtrack of our lives. I can probably speak for everyone who is your fan that the moment we hear one of your songs, we are taken in, everything around us stops and we are one with the song. Through time, you have evolved into a better version of yourselves. David's voice is more resonant, Martin's lyrics continue to move the soul and Fletch is the backbone that keeps things in balance. You have maintained your musical integrity and you have delivered in every of one of your albums. You had me at "Speak & Spell" all the way to "Spirit". For as long as you tour, I will be there, singing every lyric to every song. Congratulations !!!
Very well spoken!
Perfect!
Enjoy the Silence, World in My eyes, Halo, Clean, Dangerous, its no good........................and many many songs that I forgot the titles to but would start singing along as soon as the song is played .
This was my brother's favorite band, he passed away 4 years ago and EVERYTIME I play one of their songs in my car, I'm suddenly transported back In time when he used to play their songs while I'm in the car with him. Always missed and never forgotten.
I'm so glad all three were able to celebrate the achievement together. Fletcher will surely be missed 😢
genuine dudes. You can tell after all those years they still can get along as friends
You are so right. Wished more people were like this. This world would be a better place. Thank's for your comment.
Love their natural chemistry and Dave - wow still gorgeous.
I am so happy to watch this. They are so funny that they look more like friends than a really famous band.
Rest in Peace Fletch!🖤
Congratulations guys. My brother passed away a week ago and he was a Big DM fan!!! Some of his favorite albums were
Violator
Songs of Faith and Devotion
Ultra
black celebration and many more...
Keep playing in his memory 😊😊😊
Sorry to hear that , may he RIP
Hey, came to the comments to see all the love Fletch and of course DM were getting. God bless your brother, you and the rest of your family. ❤️🙏🏽
Dave is just as charming as I would have imagined.
Dear Depeche Mode, I traveled far to see my first live DM concert, it was during your World Violation Tour 1990. I was 17 years old, I had no ticket in my hands, couldn’t buy ahead of time, same for a ticket in front of the arena, as nobody wanted to sell (also no internet back then). I was desperate, sad to travel thousands kilometres, being so close and not being able to get that golden piece of paper. However, out of nowhere, some guy approached me and asked if I wanted to distribute DM merchandise leaflets inside of the arena up to the very start of concert after which he would give me a special pass for a concert. I did my part and merch guy gave me a special yellow rounded sticker tag, with which I was able to get almost anywhere in the arena and enjoy your concert. What a turn of events. Dear DM, congratulations and simply Thank you, thank you for your music. Love
Congratulations God smiled on you that day
Dave, you keep getting hotter and hotter as each year passes. I sure hope to see you all in concert again. I was introduced to your music in the early 90's when i went to a concert that a friend had dragged me to. And ever since then, I have been a devoted fan. I had to buy all the albums to get me up to speed. Went to every local concert then. I even went solo when you were touring solo. Personally one of my favorite concerts since i got to be right in front. Congrats on making it to the rock and roll hall of fame, long time coming and well deserved to each of you.
I love you cat
@Dave Gahan love you, God bless you ! DM is my religion
@@giusy.cancelliere It’s not really Dave lol

So glad that Fletch was able to live long enough to see this day RIP 🌹
So sad I can't believe it. I thought Andy would be the last to go. Andy was the grounded guy that held the band together with his funny impromptu clapping. Thanks Andy you'll be sadly missed.
i love how old all of them are, it shows in how they talk over one another very cutely and Fletch clapping and showing off their trophy, it's very wholesome
We all get old :( but when you are old (im 56) so muchhhhhhh knowledge and history in your head, it just isnt there at 20.

Depeche Mode are my personal heroes. Been a fan since “Everything Counts” and they kept me going through high school. I stood in line in LA on March 13, 1990 to meet them for the release of “Violators” only to have it ruined by a insane lawless crowd. However, I loved their World Violator Tour later that summer. I’ve seen these guys 6 times and they never fail to impress. Dob’t stop the music lads. It would’ve nice to see Vince and Alan there too. At least Dave recognized their contributions to their achievements! Brilliant!
Fan since DREAMING OF ME/ice machine. Everything Counts video is great look at Dave's face he's really into it
Coulden t say it better , thx .
I was there too! It was so crazy
I was one of those in line that day!!!
@@bratsbaby Remember when LAPD came out in riot gear? Scared the hell outta me.
To think I use to watch these lads back in the late 70s in small clubs round Essex preforming to a live audience of about 100 people. Well done lads. Well deserved 👏
I remember sneaking into my older brother's room in the basement to use his stereo when he was out one night. I hadn't really formed my musical tastes yet, pretty much listened to his stuff (zeppelin, black sabbath, the Who). I was sweeping the dial and came upon the chorus of Blasphemous Rumours on CFNY 102.1 (Toronto). I was transfixed. I had no idea who was singing, but it formed the bedrock of my obsession with the genre. Thank you for putting your soul into mechanical music and making something new for so many years. We love you.
Toronto represent! 🍁
CFNY played music you couldnt find anywhere else, in their form now the station isn't as exciting.
CFNY FTW.....shame what happened to it though...
Radio is Shite, now. How I miss pre 92 Alternative Radio!
Alan Wilder was always the hidden gem in that band. His musicianship skills, his great backing vocals. There was nothing the guy couldn't do. Their music just wasn't the same after his departure.
true
As much as I do think they went on to make some great music later, that they stopped taking production credits for their albums after Wilder left is telling.
Absolutely.
I agree. Like a high performance engine missing a cylinder or two. Still goes, but doesn’t rev to its full potential.
Home from "Ultra" has become one of my favorite post-Wilder tracks. Martin is fantastic.
Congrats to a band that has been a significant part of my musical life since the 1980s, blending darkly romantic lyrics and electronic soundscapes that very few other bands of their genre could match. I love seeing the camaraderie among this trio. If they have another album in them, would love to see Alan Wilder come back in some capacity (either full member or producer), but perhaps that ship has long sailed. Anyhow, kudos to one of the greats.
Rest In Peace, Andy Fletcher. My deepest condolences to his family, the band, and to all of his family, friends and fans out there. His contributions are just part of the DM legacy and ultimately the legacy of modern music.
Martin’s laugh is the best feature in interviews and documentaries 😂🤣

Well deserved. A band that no one way back when, (even themselves, probably) would have pictured in that moment. They are the underdogs and outsiders who persevered, survived and thrived, and never strayed from their vision. An awesome catalogue of great albums, songs and sounds. Quality control. True masters of electronics. Thanks, boys for all the great memories you have given me and my friends in our lives.
Definitely. They were always outsiders. Never were in the mainstream, even as big as they were. Always underrated and hugely influential. Was way overdue
RIP Andy "Fletch" Fletcher!! Legend. Definitely be missed.
I was bought “speak and spell” along with “dare” by the human league for Christmas in 1981 for my Walkman and I wore them out. Loved DM ever since. Congrats to you all.
Don't forget in 1981 Heaven 17 and their Debut Album "Penthouse and Pavment" .😉🙂
I'm 38 years old. My older sister (10 years older than me) is my influence for my love of music.....especially Depeche Mode. She was the first one to take me to one of their shows. I was 16. I held my chest and cried during their WHOLE epic performance 🤣🤣🤣 10 years down the road....I see them again. Reacted the same way! Cried like a baby. My love for Depeche Mode goes way above and beyond my love for music. You guys are the best and will always be a huge part of me. I'm an addict (clean for 10 years). I'm also bipolar 1 and I tend to get in deep deep depression. You guys always pull me out of that. You deserve this more than anyone out there. I love you and will always have never ending appreciation for you as people and as musicians.

I'm still in disbelief 🥲 How sad is the passing of Andy. DM is one of my favorite groups, this coming from a metal head. Always awesomeness coming from those brilliant minds
I discovered Depeche Mode when I was a young boy in the mid 80's. When I first heard the Black Celebration album, I was memorized, to say the least. I immediately fell in love with this band. Their sound along with Dave's voice captivated my heart n soul and exhilarated me in ways I can't even describe. This iconic group has been a huge inspirational part of my upbringing and growth as a man. I have had the pleasure of seeing them live numerous times, and I can honestly say with every fiber of my being, that this is truly one of the greatest bands that ever lived and performed on a stage. DM for LIFE! Rest in paradise Andy.
Congratulations Alan Wilder, you created the legend, it's a shame you couldn't be part of this video.

RIP Fletch! Seems like a genuinely nice guy. A very talented group with some great music.
My heart hurts watching this again as we mourn Andy Fletcher. Rest in Peace Fletch. We are thankful of the memories you gave us fans. Last say them perform in Vegas 9/30/17, then night before the deadly shooting. I was sure we would see our guys again some time soon. Heart felt condolences to everyone grieving right now. This has been a horrible week.
Absolutely a joy in Dave's speech. It was also touching and I am sure we can all agree that music made us better people. It is a divine and magical vehicle. Cheers to Depeche Mode for all that they have contributed to the music. It's unique and a complete one-off. There is no band like them even though they are often compared to their darkwave contemporaries and their electronic predecessors.
Overdue by 10 years....at least. Great effort to all the members of Depeche Mode. Simply one of the best 5 bands to come out of England in the past 40 years.
DEPECHE MODE TOTALLY DESERVE THIS!!!!!! AMAZING ARTISTS!!!
Best clapper in rock music ,congrats fletcher
I wish I could give back a even a small % of the joy your music brought me. For nearly 40 yrs, how could we be so blessed. RIP Fletch.
What I have simply always loved about DM (and you can see this big time in this video) is that this was a band that wrote such deep music about love, death, pain etc (we all know the themes) but they NEVER took themselves too seriously. Look at this video. It just seems like they truly were friends throughout all these years. I am sure there were moments that was tested but again it seems like they have joy together. I guess I am just one of the people that like things that endure (especially now in our nano-second of fame world we live in). For better or worse this band is a massive part of my life over the last 30 years or so. We all have our favorites but I have to put in my 2 cents and say that Black Celebration and Songs of faith and Devotion are their true masterpieces. Those aren't just good Depeche Mode albums those are just plain incredible albums period. So thanks guys for all the work over the years!! We Love you guys!!!!
totally agree with you!
But more: born of humble families, success came step by step, passion, commitment and perseverance: all this has built their happiness
The guys looked genuinely happy and proud. I did wonder if they would be too cool to acknowledge the award. About 30 years late but we'll deserved.
Now that both Rush and Depeche Mode have made it in, I don't have many complaints left!

Depeche Mode is one of those very rare groups that just never stops putting out great music. It doesn't get old. It isn't stale. Each record is a new, fantastic, deeply emotional experience. I am so grateful that they shared their gifts with the world. I know I have personally needed their music and it was their right when I needed it many times in my life. Thank you.

So super glad to be part of three concerts of DM and so sad they were only three. Thanks God Andy experienced the moment of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction.
I was at six concerts and that also doesn’t feel like enough. It’s never enough in case with DM, I guess...
