    The XSR900 is Yamaha's retro looking variant of their MT09 platform. The suspension is much more adjustable than basic bits (like the MT07), but not fully adjustable either. Dave tunes 200 lb (90kg) and 125 lb (55kg) riders on stock suspension, then a rider with aftermarket suspension upgrades on his street bike who brought it to a track day.

    Moss, your memory is fascinating. You come across so many different riders, but still somehow remember each one.
    The guy could not remember the name of the store. You could remember him and what you did to his bike, even out of all the riders you probably saw that day.
    I commented after seeing you years back. I left minor specifications of the work done. I mainly was thanking you and spreading the good word. You responded with knowing what we did and you even remembered my name.
    To others out there. If his outstanding work and knowledge that he shares does not blow your mind, how about that incredible memory.

    Might have to pay for some remote tuning, as a 230 lb guy on a new 675r getting everything to my liking has been hit and miss. Thanks for the great content though Dave, always can gleam some excellent information even just from the previews/intro videos.
    edit: The change I did to lever positions, and where they actually sit "angle wise" on the clip ons, as well as how my hands sit on the grips was one of the greatest and most impactful changes I learned from your videos. Correct ergos really make a world of difference.

      Great work and thank you for sharing the outcomes with just a simple starting point. I hope you follow through to work with me via Remote Tuning.

    my sport bike days are behind me. now i just put around country roads on a second hand harley enjoying the sights. i think there are a ton of harley riders who would benefit from advice on how to make their rides better and safer

    Any 160lb riders have a recommendation for suspension settings on the xsr900 for street riding?

    Do you have a guide on setting up suspension for the a very heavy weight MT09 riders? (300lbs, yes I'm working on losing weight, I was 381 July last year).

      You will have to get harder springs and a new damper to get any good setup. The suspension is so soft you can only really set it up for like 90 kg rider weight. Otherwise it's too soft. For now you can crank both front and rear preload higher and close the compression in the front if you have a 2017+ my. And set the rebound accordingly

      Congrats on losing nearly 100 pounds that’s impressive and something to be proud of. Keep at it.

    so im from the Netherlands and i also ride a XSR900 (2020). when i go over a bump created by a tree rote under the road, my ass gets launched of the seat. because of what you said in the video im going too lower the pre-load en adjust/play abit with the rebounce.

      @catalystreactionsbw  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excllent, please post the settings that you found worked for you to help other XSR owners.

      So i had a look at my rear shocks pre-load. It has 7 positions and the pre-load was a 4 (1 being to lowes and 7 the most pre-load). Before my last ride i put it on 3 and already felt alot of diffrence, with in not being so bouncy anymore. Before my next ride im planning on putting it to 2. Havent played with the rebounce yet.

    I have a question, don’t know If this is the place, I bought a Suzuki GSX S750 new. I have a possible issue: when I got on the throttle the front used to bounce up. Now I have adjusted the preload on the rear shock and it’s solved. But now when I let go of the throttle the front dives a little bit. Any idea what might fix this? I only have preload on the front also so not much adjustability to do

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How much fork travel are you using? Do you have a cable tie in place? Dive = fork preload too soft.

    • @Gixxes010
      @Gixxes010 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@catalystreactionsbw Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. I have measured 85mm of travel in the front. That is from the top to the cable tie. I don’t know if that is too ‘much’ or not.

    • @Gixxes010
      @Gixxes010 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Besides that I have set the back suspension to 5 out of 7, 7 being the most stiff setting. I have adjusted the fork preload to 1 out of 4, so stiffer than before. And I feel that when I give a good amount of throttle and let go, the bike doesn’t dive anymore.
