Thanks Becky. While I don’t have chickens now, I am trying to get as much information as possible. Maybe in the Spring I’ll get a few. I remember you said 1 per family member to start.
Yes, that is my advice to people. Start small and get that going well. You can always add more later. Trust me, It is much better to have 3, 4 or 5 hens laying like crazy, than to have 20 that barely lay because they are crowded, stressed, fighting and sick.☀️❤️☀️
The kibble will also help young layers start laying sooner and increase production in older hens.I have added cheap dog food many times to raise egg production in my birds.
Just feed grower feed too all your chickens no matter what their age. Don't bother with layer feed at all. Just have some oyster shell on the side. Much much easier. I only feed the baby chicks chicks starter for about as long as it takes to go through 5 pounds of it. Then there onto the grower feed for the rest of their lives.
Thanks for your ideas, wonderful lady. By the way I also live in my self made log cabin in the moantains of Norway with 5 free range hens on the small farm. You are sweet as a chicken mam.
Becky, do you have a video on roosting? My chickens are 10 weeks old. I have a cabana type coop with many roosting bars are various heights and shapes/thicknesses. I go out every night and have to physically pick them up to a roost or ledge. They have yet to do it on their own. Instead they nest down on the floor in a pile in the corner (8 of them). What should I do?
Nothing, just wait they are still little. Seems they like the warmth and security of a pile. Give them a chance to grow up a bit more. Don't rush things☀️❤️☀️
Love all the advice. Making soap today as a matter of fact. I have to watch the kids when they come over, occasionally one of my gallons disappears. LOL I have looked all over and can not find anything labeled cat kibble. I know it is probably something I am not understanding. Is there something in particular I should be looking for?
One thing I notice when feeding our chooks is when we give scraps (salad, roast vegetables, meat etc) is that they don’t eat anything green. Even when feeding a food that comes in a variety of colours, they will avoid the green food. Why is this? Can they not see the green food, and it just looks like grass? Tyyy for any thoughts 🐓
I like whole oats cuz i have it for my rabbits anyway I found it a great chick food transition food Also you can sprout or grow oats :) The rabbits and chickens love the grass Much love xoxox

They have so many people come in there asking questions. I have head different answers to the same question depending on who's in there. I teach from years and years of experience of what has been successful for me. ☀️❤️☀️
You are a wealth of information and your sense of humor and lightheartedness is always a breath of fresh air. As a newbie, I really appreciate it!

The key is the meat. Hens need a little meat every day to lay steady. Grain free Cat kibble has more meet than dog food☀️❤️☀️

Your beautiful chickens were hanging around for more food. They know you have something great for them to eat.

Welsummer bantam rooster☀️❤️☀️

Great video and very informative, Becky. Thank you so much!
Your welcome☀️❤️☀️
Hi there Becky I was wondering what would you recommend for game chicks thanks
I have my chickens on food that is a mix from baby and adult and it works great too.
Whole corn - that gizzard is a pretty amazing organ, as long as they can get some grit in it.
thank you

Hi Becky love your videos I just purchased your book on Amazon
Thank you☀️❤️☀️
I made the mistake of feeding my hens organic Chia seeds.
They are really happy.
But they don't let me get away without their seeds.
Haha they can get spoiled☀️❤️☀️
Thank you for sharing.

Chickens are very well to the egg laying i have only two chickens rooster and his hen they are best couples love u becky 😉😉👍
What can you give your chickens so that they could be a little fat ?PLZ 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Can you blend the adult Chickens mixture for the baby chicks instead of Chick starter?
How big do the black astrolurpe chickens get? They are 1 year, my chickens.

Thanks, I'm so glad you like them☀️❤️☀️
Man I love hens and rooster
i have 2 rosters and 2 hens is ok
No, the poor hens will be bred to death, plus the roosters will fight. Better to have 4 hens and no roosters☀️❤️☀️
Love the new intro
Thanks, I'm glad you like it☀️❤️☀️
❤️
☀️❤️☀️
You used your intro! It’s been a while since I’ve seen that!
☀️❤️☀️
@@BeckysHomestead hieeeee! ❤️☀️❤️
We once had an older chick run away, turns out it’s a rooster and the neighbours have it 😂
Whqt happened to your old big white rooster?
Dumdum my big white rooster died. He had a happy life to the end☀️❤️☀️
Is inbreeding a concern with chickens?
Inbreeding is a concern for anything☀️❤️☀️
Hell yeah Becky bringing back the intro !
☀️❤️☀️
Becky: I feed cat food without the chicken flavor.
*my chickens will never be cannibals
Never say never, because they totally would eat a chicken depending on how people care for them. I have seen it!☀️❤️☀️
I can't get my hens to eat whole corn.
💯🤜💙🤛💯
