- Hey! Thanks for checking out the video! I personally think this undercoating worked wonders for the truck! I used 8 cans of Rustoleum Stop Rust.

Looks good! In Canada where cars dissolve from salt, we use 1 part penetrating oil, 1 part 80w 90 gear oil, and 2 parts transmission fluid. Doesn't wash off and absolutely stops rust instantly.

What kind of penetrating oil?
I like running a air needle scaler when cleaning the underbody of any vehicle. Just make sure to buy good safety glasses and even better earplugs lol. Those scalers seem to be the best when going over the spots that have that flaky rust, and the hard to reach areas that’s too tight to get a wire wheel in there. You mentioned something about you’re worried about your cab corners going bad and rust out? If they haven’t rusted out already then they will eventually if you don’t do this trick. Just grab a cordless drill and a 1/8” drill bit, slide under your truck and drill maybe three holes directly underneath each cab corner but get ready for the flood lol. Usually if the cab corners aren’t already eaten up with rust, they’ll have a bunch of water built up and the moment you pop the first hole, you’ll have water running into your armpit.

Hitchhiker 😂 Got everything you got worked great but what really worked the best was a Grinding wheel don’t remember what’s it’s called or what it’s made of but but it’s not wire brush did it extremely fast 💨 and easy to the metal especially on On flat or open spaces , suspension arm’s crevices wire brushes worked good 👍🏽 batteries 🔋 ran out of course but definitely did it properly and nice 👍🏽 thanks for the video thanks 🙏🏾

That scaly rust - you need to use a needle scaler. They're the shit for the rust scale, and you can get into some pretty tight spaces with them.

@@piemane I just done. I did it today with 8 cans. It takes me almost the whole day: 9h Am to 5h Pm. I didn't care too much to wear a long sleeve shirt. Now My arms are really dirty. I have to use Alcohol and baking sofa to clean myself for over 30 mns. Thanks a lot, without your video and motivation I am not sure I would be able to do it myself. 👍🏻💪🏻👏🙏🏄♂️

Hi, why you dont use rust clenear after brush and then undercoating?
rustoleum now has undercoating spray, i probably would have used that aswell
Stay away from any thick rubberized undercoating spray. It just seals in the rust and the frame continues to be eaten under the coating. You need an anti-rust paint that is absorbed into the remaining rust.
Could you brush on a coat of rust remover and them power wash the fuc out of it?
How about a power washer with abrasive medium e.g. a wet sandblasting ?

Should I wash the dust and grime off with a air compressor? I’ve been told water is not good on bare metal.
You can power wash to remove grease, dirt and loose rust but let it fully dry before you begin to grind and scrape. Blowing out areas where water might sit help the drying process. After grinding and scraping, you can repeat the power wash process to remove all the rust dust, but again, make sure it fully drys again before starting to apply the anti-rust paint. 30 days after your finished painting (two coats if possible) every possible place you can reach with a spray or a brush, take the vehicle to have it undercoated with Fluid Film or some other coating to have all the inside surfaces of the frame treated to prevent the frame from rusting from the inside out. If you started with a rusted frame, this about the very best you can do to slow the process and extend the life of the frame.
The rustoleum will fail and rust will start appearing again. Use correseal then fluid film or surface shield.

@@jshlyrad correseal or rust cutter converts rust into iron phosphate. Then u can apply paint or the proven method of oil based spray such as fluid film. It will halt rust in its tracks.

You didn't need to do all that work. Ziebart will spray rubberized undercoating for you and stop all the rust. You'll never see it again.
What did that cost you?
Zeibart will literally dissolve his frame with the trapped moisture/rust under the rubberized coating.

What would you suggest instead?
@@jshlyrad after a few decades working on cars you have 2 choices. One is wire wheel all the heavy rust chunks, say on your sub frame. Surface rust like on the sway bar isn't a big deal. Then use a metal primer oil paint. The 1 gallon cans are the cheapest. You can brush that on or spray it with a cheap harbor freight gun. Then you use paint (rustoleum) oil based, again 1 gallon cans. Same thing, spray or brush on. It's a ton of work. The oil paint primer and paint seal air out which stops the rust. Now the easier way, use woolwax. It's a lanolin based oil. They sell the sprayer for it and you need a compressor. Good idea to again knock any large chunks of rust off because if you don't, the rust will fall off and you'll be exposed. I did the primer and paint 2 years back, my 22+ year old truck has held up perfectly. This year I sprayed the woolwax. Those cans of rustoleum don't have enough material in the cans to stop anything but surface rust. I literally saw rust a few months after spraying them. Light driving and it wasn't even salt season.
