Yup, my pre-winter routine is to spray, drive up and down a dusty dirt road until the drips stop, then spray, and drive up and down the road again. When you are done, it looks like your undercarriage is made from that expanding foam stuff, but at least it won't rust. Once spring hits, and there has been enough rain to wash the salt off the roads, I'll give it a good clean to get the oil/dirt/salt cement off, and re-spray. I was looking for a truck for years. Ended up looking at fords because they’re cheap, after watching your videos i decided to suck it up and get my dream truck, drove off the lot with an 07 2500 dirty diesel. 🤘
Surprised I didn’t see you drop the spare. Amazing attention to detail sir. Now I want to go out and do this to mine but I’m stuck in the Ohio snow belt. Shout out to OCD!
Pressure wash using synthetic soluble oil used in CNC machine tools, it does not take much but it coats the undercarriage with anti-rust coating that will not collect dust, that is if you use 1/8 ounce per gallon mix. it also leaves the undercarriage looking great.
I just got my new truck and it’s been awhile since I had a truck I plan on keeping till I die. So looks like it’s back to spending time doing this. I used to do similar just not as deep but thanks for some new info so stuff I was miss. Now not only is this good to protect the truck but you really start to get to know your truck it becomes a friend in a way. But another big thing about this is can find all the broken or damaged things also you can catch things before it can do damage in some cases. Say a nut fell off on part of the suspension while your mudding and the bolt Get covered up then one day the bolt falls out the. There goes a leaf or a coil then crash there goes your truck. But if you were this detailed about it you will notice the nut most likely before it falls off so you tighten it up and it’s all good. You really know your truck this way you know when somethings not right. Plus your more in tune with it. You become one with your truck. Now I see you are using all adam products. Now do you use them because they sponsor your vids or do you truly like it more then anything else. I can see you love you truck, as the same as I love mine. When it comes to products like car care wash stuff or really anything you will only put what you feel is the best for it and going to protect it the most and cost is not a factor for the most part. If your favorite quick detail is was 100 dollars a bottle but in the end you really saw it’s was the best and you saw the value in it you would spend it with out thinking twice. So why adams? Did you always use in the past before you even started TH-cam? How many other brands and type have you tried before them ? Also are You trying new types of products from time to time to see if something newer and better came out? Or is their stuff good and they send it free so you use it? There’s a ton of different products on the market and there’s a hand full of really good ones and I feel there’s at least 2-3 different brands that could be used instead of one another and the same results what be achieved. What do you think about that?
Honestly like you I'm a perfectionist. Here in new england I could not find an 2006 dodge 2500 5.9 without rust I had to fly out to west coast and get here I do the same cleaning method as yourself and NH undercoating is the key. People are lazy and let their investments go to crap.
In the beginning, I bought like 30 cans of surplus Rustoleum anti-rust paint. So the underside is like "Tie Die" because 30 cans go a long way. But over time, the black grease and other cans of "paint" I got covered the RustOleum. I'm so happy I did that, because after 490,000 miles I have Zero Rust, on on the "brake disks" rust shows...
Living in Ontario, Canada you have spray the entire vehicle down with rustproofing oil and then the rooad dirt that accumulates on top of that actually protects it. Then you wash off excess accumulation of dirt in the spring and then spray on top of whats left once it dries. So we have a layer of oily road dirt to protect the vehicle.
All fine and dandy when you live somewhere that you don't have 9 month winters! Here in Saskatchewan, we want to enjoy our "summer" when we do get it! I've seen snow in every month except July here! Just don't have the time to get this involved in cleaning my truck! Not that I wouldn't, just that our summers here are soooo short, and winters take forever, not to mention the four to six weeks of -30 to -40 C in January and February! Great video though, thanks for the info!!
You are not crazy I have a 2022 ram 1500 limited I got last September, I lived in Ontario Canada where they salt the road here every winter what I did I when I bought the truck I painted over the factory paint on the frame and, then clear coat over it then got it rust proof from krown, I'm definitely doing a deep clean under my truck then rerustproof it when the weather gets better I don't give a crap what people think about me I love my truck and want it to last a very long time can't be driving a nice truck with a rusted out frame
Putting in the time and money to make sure your truck looks good and performs good is the difference and it shows. Your trucks definitely are well taken cared of good video bro 🤙🏽
I think this title should have a disclaimer “trucks must not ever see winter for this to work lol! I’ll add that it is also a good idea to flush the frame out with water. I’d like to know your secret to not getting rock chips with those wide wheels/tires and no mudflaps
It still works, you just have to do it more often! All depends on your level of psycho haha. And honestly the truck has about the same amount of stone chips on the rockers as when I got it! I just use some touch up paint every now and then to keep them looking nice.
Not only do I do this myself to my second gen but I also learned some new tips and tricks. Never thought to use WD-40. Great video! Beautiful truck too.
Cool. If you really want another great tip, pop the taillights out and make sure to spray inside the box over the wheels… Then oil spray with Fluid Film Black
An older gentleman who taught me how to work on cars told me if you want to stop or prevent rust, get a spray bottle of Automatic Transmission Fluid. It will last about 2 years per application. Just spray whatever metal you want to prevent rust on, let it sit for about 2 hours, then wipe it off. Works wonders
@Ross Outdoors Southern Ontario lays salt down just for fun. Was headed back down south on the 400 (north of Barrie), 4 hour drive. Got home and my truck was honestly COVERED in a thick layer of salt. Never seen anything like it. It's all cause many GTA people don't know how to drive in snowy conditions and crash unless the roads are dry.
I’m the same way with all my vehicles and bike (OCD), but it’s been 2 years since I did my Durango last. It’s that time again. I always used to clean it to the point it looked like new again purple power/paint where need be/dressing, which IS a phenomenal feeling given that it’s an ‘03! Thanks for the tips, I didn’t even think about finishing with WD-40...! I actually rebuilt the heads on my ‘11 Ram Hemi and cleaned them with WD-40, wire and nylon brushes, and even wet sanded with the stuff. It’s very multi purpose substance for sure!

I wash my truck the same way people think I'm crazy. I live in hawaii so rust is a big issue and my truck isn't garage kept. Honestly that's why our trucks last the longest and also resale is better. Not only cleaning and making everything all shiny. We are also inspecting the vehicle for loose, worn, or broken parts also foreign objects that can cause future issues. Very good content just started watching your videos. Aloha 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Great video. I thought I was OCD with my truck but you are on a different level haha. I’m definitely gonna use your method on the underside of my 4th gen.
HA! Your truck is clean compared to one day of driving on New England dirt roads. AND if your trying to prevent rust there’s ONE THING that’s important than all of this! POWDERCOAT. My tundra came powder coated (differentials, hitch receiver etc) all the parts that are most prone to rust. Not sure how how other companies do this, but I’ve seen 3-4 year old fords here that are already turning into rust buckets, but they’re obviously notorious for rusting. My truck still has very little rust and it’s almost 10 years old, and I’ve never gone this deep cleaning it. But seriously your truck looks mint like a show truck! Great job.
The only thing I disagree with is him saying that you can’t use a pressure washer for a pre-rinse because you can get a soap nozzle that doesn’t hit the paint on the undercarriage hard at all. While he was using the hose, there is way more force hitting the undercarriage in that stream than there would be if he used a safer nozzle with a pressure washer. Although I do understand just telling people not to use a pressure washer at all; so they won’t have that mistake of washing the paint off the car. It also saves some time because one can pre rinse and then Run diluted degreaser or purple power through the pressure washer, then let it sit and with the same pressure washer, with a safe nozzle, wash it off. I’m not trying to criticize this man, this video is wonderful and I enjoyed every moment of it. Just letting my pressure washer lovers know with the right Precautions it very doable. Everyone stay in the crazy Category;)
Trying to figure out which is easier....................doing this level of cleaning...............4 times per year OR packing up and moving to the desert. This is great, IF you're the type (and, I am), to keep a vehicle 10---12---15+ years. If not, the next buyer won't pay you for the time you've invested. They're gonna' be looking for the exact same price of the seller who ran their truck through the car wash once a month. Salute for your work ethic.
If your crazy brother you stepped into a funny house, cause that was a awesome video!! Its refreshing to see and know there is someone out there who takes care of his truck like his own child. Excellent video brother!!
on rocker panels, there are drain holes. once a year rinse thoroughly by shooting a stream directly up into those openings. can also access from the runner board mounting slots sometimes. if there are no runner board supports attached to the rockers
Another way to help prevent rust especially if you live in the Rust belt! Is clean the underside then treat it with fluid film. The stuff is amazing! I have a 2012 Ram 2500 and a 2001 GMC Yukon XL both have dealt with Pennsylvania and New York salt and that nasty liquid they spray in the bridges that eventually eats away at the steel beams holding the bridges up! That's why some have collapsed. This wt 😔 will eat your vehicle Alive no matter how clean 😔 you keep it . If you use Fluid film just make sure to keep up the maintenance treatments you don't need a lot once it twice a year, if you don't it slowly wears away and exposes the metal. When I take my vehicles into inspection they are always scratching their heads Wondering why an SUV with 335000 miles on it isn't in the scrap yard? Neither vehicle has any rust. I'm in Sturgis right now a local guy asked how I keep my RAM so nice looking his jaw hit the ground when I said its a 2012 😀👍 I'm just as OCD maybe more than you. I want my stuff to last as long as possible especially the Ram since I retired and I'm permanently towing my 5th wheel "Home" around the country.
You bought the truck out of California (according to another one of your videos) 5 years ago where they don't salt roads. Hardly a tough task to keep a rust free truck, rust free when it's a California truck. We've had an '07 RAM 2500 5.7L since new as a daily driver here in Illinois and no matter what, the bottoms of the tailgate, doors, fenders and even the engine block have rusted. The doors, hood, fenders, tailgate have all been replaced with OEM new panels over the past 3 years because of the salt the IDOT uses here during the winters like it's free... because it is for them. Washing the undercarriage in the winter isn't a viable option here since the temperature sits below that of water freezing, never mind getting under it with a bucket and wash mitt. When it comes to ball joints for the HD RAM trucks, the Dynatrac ball joints are the best. 3+ years of daily driving on roads here that resemble the moon's surface is a testament to the Dynatrac ball joints durability along with their front lock-out hubs "free-spin" kit. The Warn hubs suck. Stick with DYNALOC hubs. The extra $$$ spent on the DYNALOC hubs will pay for itself over time.
Did I see a Palm Tree in the reflection of the truck? Driving in the Desert, Sand, Dirt and Dust? Come to Indiana where in the Winter time every road has Salt, Sand and Brine application on them, tell me how to clean this crap off. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this video and learned the I am not the only person who wants to protect my truck, plus some good locations where Dirt and Debris off the Windshield will drain from. Keep these Videos coming....
I’m the same way with my JKU running a LT1 6.2 my jeep has 205k and looks brand new. I wheel it and run it hard but maintenance the hell out of it wd40 works good fluid film in the winter works better in the north east. Great video wish I knew about this with my 99 Chevy Silverado that rusted away
Oh jeeziss. This reminds me of when I was a Marine. On the way home from a six month Med float, we had to do "washdown" in Rota, Spain. Everything comes off every ship, gets washed to a HORRIFIC degree, inspected, and loaded back onto the ships. Livers are usually thoroughly "washed" with different types of alcohol-based substances.
Great video, many useful tips. I don't agree with using WD-40 though - it does keep water off (WD stands for 'water displacement') but it's also a mild solvent and can melt or embrittle certain kinds of plastic. There are more specifically formulated products for this like ACF-50, GT85 or any number of protective motorcycle dressings.

I was looking for a truck for years. Ended up looking at fords because they’re cheap, after watching your videos i decided to suck it up and get my dream truck, drove off the lot with an 07 2500 dirty diesel. 🤘
Recently bought an 84 bronco to restore. Previous owner was a fan of mud riding plus there’s an oil leak. So this weekend, this is my goal
Say a nut fell off on part of the suspension while your mudding and the bolt
Get covered up then one day the bolt falls out the. Also are
You trying new types of products from time to time to see if something newer and better came out? Or is their stuff good and they send it free so you use it? There’s a ton of different products on the market and there’s a hand full of really good ones and I feel there’s at least 2-3 different brands that could be used instead of one another and the same results what be achieved. What do you think about that?
That truck will live for ever because of you good job
As you said, this is INSANE!
I finally see someone who is almost like myself with the care of the undercarriage of my cars.
Top notch attention to detail! You're not over the top at all. Solid work brother!
Great job bro. Would pay you top dollar any day for that service
Maybe you should all be driving snowmobiles instead of cars for those 9 months.
the ones who thinks you're crazy ARE the ones that are crazy .. common sense = investment or vice versa .. amazing job 👌
that rear diff cover will destroy your diff. go look banks power video on what is actualy going on inside your diff when is running.
Your high if you really think this
@@mrpolarisindy500 cavitation will eat the ring and pinion
The best undercoating is CRC marine, heavy duty corrosion inhibitor
Bro this thing is soooooo cleannnn. Wow, I need to get mine looking like this
I'm surprised you left the spare on. Looks great.
A special kind of crazy......and there’s nothing wrong with that, great video.
Not only do I do this myself to my second gen but I also learned some new tips and tricks. Never thought to use WD-40. Great video! Beautiful truck too.
same here, always figured it would work but didnt have the proper idea of how to install and dry so it wont look like shit.
Detailing done properly. Thank you for putting in the work to make this video.
Cool. If you really want another great tip, pop the taillights out and make sure to spray inside the box over the wheels…
Then oil spray with Fluid Film Black
Did this yesterday, and I'm out driving in the rain today. Great
This is awesome I need to spend some time and clean the underside of my vehicle and take care of the rust its a 05 but I'm the 3rd owner
Not crazy at all. Nice work! ... I do the same with my 230K Jeep which people still confuse with a brand new Jeep.
I'll try that on a couple of 100 plus year old unblued shotgun barrels. If I don't keep a close enough eye on them I use vinegar to draw the rust out.
Impossible to do this in Canada unless you have no job and all the time in the world
Was about to say that. It’s easy to do that if you don’t live in the rust belt 😂 that’s why his truck still has paint on the frame.
Love it dude! I’ve got a 99 5.9 and I’m doing my best to make it better than mint! It’s had a rough ride but I know I can get it there!
It’s very multi purpose substance for sure!
hey brother great job , i do this at least once a month , best thing you can do ...NOT INSANE !!!! i transport for a living and my truck gets bad. great video to show others how it properly done lmao it takes me almost 7 hrs wash , clay , wax , ceramic... awsome trick with the wd40 aswell will order a 12pack and do that when i get back home.
SERIOUSLY!!!! I loved this video! Honestly it's the 1st video I've watched from this young man's channel but his OCD, and care, and pride in his vehicle is the reason I subscribed ,which I did. I've never met or seen anybody as OCD as I am until right now! My little sister actually calls me RAINMAN (Ducks are over here Ray, I'm an excellent driver, slow in the driveway 🤣) and she has since she's been able to talk! I'm sure only people of a certain age will get that reference or understand it but that's alright. It's good to finally see someone as insane as I am! LOL! 🤣 Keep up the great work!
I love these trucks and worked hard to get them! It’s always nice to take pride in caring for them! Glad I’m not the only OCD nut job 😂
I had to come back to say this. I watched this video n u mentioned steel it for frame paint I did some research n bought some....today i used it n wow it looks amazing
It’s pretty cool stuff huh? In my experience is pretty durable too.
I have a 99 dodge 3500 with zero rust. I cake the underside in fluid film.
I had the same comment, fluid film accomplishes the same thing...if protection was the goal. Unless your in a car show....
@@firebir11 @c l Would you recommend with an undercarriage thats seen snow? I think I might have some surface rust starting to appear on suspension parts.
There's a reason why you have one of the nicest 3rd gens around...awesome videos, in BC here its getting cold and winters hitting hard, will be definately touching up my undercarriage after seeing this video in the spring!!
Aloha 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Where at in Hawaii?
@@AA-by7xc You planning on visiting for a night mission?🤣
Love the detail. Love the plethora of forks in the back ground too! 🚵🏼
Im surprised you dont drop the spare tire, excellent work!
Great job.
I think that you are now my spirit animal... wow! Looks amazing. Great job!
Great vid! I’m trying to teach my boys this. I finish it up with a fresh coat of Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protectant. Just did it this weekend. 👍🏻
How would we do something like this during winter in Michigan when salt is always on the truck and wash the truck 4 times a week lol
Around October, wash under there the best you can. Then go get it undercoated with Fluid Film, and don't wash it again till May.
I don't think you went overboard, I really enjoy taking care of my jeep like you do with your Ram.
you can tell his undercarriage is worth more than most ppl's entire trucks
Not crazy at all. You take pride in your truck and it mostly transfers over into your overall work ethic.
I love watching crazy people do this kind of stuff...awesome.
Great overview! I’ll definitely be doing this in the early spring.
Totally! That’s why I use the Adam’s undercarriage dressing for most of this video. The wd40 is just a cheap alternative for people.
Could always use the used motor oil and diesel.... so I'd say he did well.
@@JustDiesels Hi, Any other brands please, requesting from sri lanka, because said Adam’s undercarriage dressing is unavailable here. And how often your method to be followed?
Have not seen any videos on standard brakes or upgraded brakes. Have you done a video on this subject? Truck looks great!
I’m running factory brakes or at most EBC pads and smooth rotors. Works great for my needs!
Looking forward to spring to give some of these techniques a go!
Andrew, can you please make a video on your hide away step bars vs nerf bars and running boards.? The Pros and Cons of the motors for the step bars and which are the best in your opinion.? Awesome and very educational videos. You're videos are very professional. Thank you...!
I’m running Amp Research Power Steps and they’re hands down the best option. Expensive, but worth every penny!
@@JustDiesels Thank you, keep making great videos.
Maybe I should get a truck first 🤔 but it is good to learn how to clean/detail and maintain it! Fantastic work 👏
you make such good quality videos keep it up
Thank you!
Like others have said. Living in California you can get your truck like this. In the north east it is a lot different.
lol your definition of dirty is different than mine. The other day I noticed I had baseball sized chunks of mud caked onto my axles and a solid 2" thick layer mud caked in between my rock sliders and frame.
Hey Andrew. Thanks for this video. Question: Are there any parts of the undercarriage that should not be cleaned- that we should not touch? e.g. I'm thinking the brake disks (sorry, not a car expert). Sometimes I worry that the washing might harm something.
I wish the previous owner did this to my truck. It’s to late now
I wanna buy one of your used trucks , you take good care of your stuff
If you guys can get to it, try to reasurch KROWN or fluid film like applicants rust protective. I have a Tundra, which has a bad history with rust. Got it Krowned for the past two year. Took it to the Toyota to get oil change and the mechanic wanted to find out what I was doing to make the bottom of my truck last so good.
Love it dude!! Got a 99 5.9 Cummins and I’m doing my best to make it better than mint!
I love your kind of crazy. But I can’t justify doing this anymore for myself. Still, amazing work and passion - keep it up
well with this covid19 going on theres alot of time for people to do things like this - video date is dec 23 2020 - mite as well do it and do a video too - i am going to do it my self - great video - he loves his ride
