- So the goal for today, is we're going to try and translate concept art of Akko from Little Witch Academia to 3d, but in the end try to make it look like it's 2d and not 3d. This is my first attempt at something like this, so this should be fun.

I really like how just shaping out the head with verts basically helped in retop, pretty cool trick and might try it out myself
This is the first time I've ever done it this way and I can see why people box model their heads. No need to retopo if your topology is good in the first place!
I just started 3d modeling and I'm absolutely taking note of that one
The little witch x fortnite collab is looking fire
Jokes aside you did the original image so much justice, looks amazing
Thanks so much!
it would be funny if it was in fortnite
i think i she from fortnite 🤡
lmao i was thinking about "imagine if he made this model for fortnite, id imagine hed be so proud"
@@bobuxgamer6944Goku from Fortnite really did bump his head a lot to make it that bigger💀💀
The music, the voice, the person, the 3d model, the process... Everything was great
Tysm!! 🙏
are you trans?
She looks so great! I loved little witch academia when I watched it so long ago, glad to see Akko getting this amazing model! Love your work Bran!
Thanks so much! I loved the show too. I only got to watch the first season, tho. I got busy and just never found the time to get caught up. Glad you like the model, and thanks again! ❤️
@@BranSculpts if you ever find the time again, please do watch the second season, it is as amazing as the first.
Every time I see the academia I keep seeing mha bro 😭 why are the names so simillar
Ikr
Nice, appreciate how high level the tutorial is rather than getting into the nuts and bolts of things you've already showed us/things we could Google
Thanks! haha I'm always worried that I repeat stuff from the other videos too much 😖
as always your work is really impressive... and the way you describe your work feels less intimidating than common 3D modelers guys out there
thanks! haha well, I'm glad I don't make it sound intimidating. I think it's cause I'm just excited to tell you guys about the things I'm learning?🤓
maybe use your brain more to understand what "Common 3D modelers guys out there" explain
I can tell you're a joy to be friends with.@@monkeydgoofy8074
@@monkeydgoofy8074 i love you
@@Gonsoi love you too
As a professional animator I can't tell you how many times faking 2d has saved me from unnecessary work from clients. I'm like yeah sure we can do that hehe
💀
we do what we have to do hehe@@user-zm3hk1bs9y
@@user-zm3hk1bs9yarcane adventures, very nostalgic
This reminds of how Guilty Gear makes the models for its characters to look as closely to 2D as possible, theres an entire video explaining how its animation works and I really recommend it
I'll give it a look see, thanks!
The ultimate question. How long did it take you to make her? It's always so easy watching videos like this, but I know this took some serious time, you're good and you make it look easy.
Written in the description!!!
I, as a gamedev 3D artist, got pain from the number of polygons, but as a viewer I’m happy with the result, it turned out very cool
Bro, made a Fortnite anime skin💀
Fr joke aside I need that skin
Hahaha *strangles you*
I have not a single idea about 3d modelling, but I am inspired to start learning, this looks so great! Absolutely love this kind of style, it just pleasant to look at!
when the 2d is 3d
i love how you did akko from little witch academia
Brother, you have no idea how useful this is to me! I literally just started making my first anime OC in Blender. I've never done this before, so naturally my instinct was to sculpt it first, but then I saw what other people were doing, so I thought "How do it do that?" Then after enough searching I finally found your video!!
Liked, Subbed, and Favorited!
I almost never comment on videos normally, but I'm going to break that rule of mine to thank you for this tutorial; this style of modeling is exactly the style I want to do when starting development on a game I've been wanting to make. I appreciate the clear and concise way you break things down, your workarounds, explaining some of your techniques you use and why they work, etc.
Gonna save this video as one of the big inspirational videos for when I get a little time to start up working with Blender. Keep up the excellent work!
If only cg anime used this look.
The Cel Shaded version of Akko from Little Witch Academia looks so amazing
Thank you for add my favorite anime character in 3D
Akko is ❤️! And ty for the super! 🤘
@@BranSculpts now I'll make rupan sansei aka lupin the 3rd and golgo 13
holy crap this is informative. i love studying blender timelapse videos like this but your commentary brings it to a whole nother level
This is actually understandable! I've tried finding tutorials that seem to overcomplicate the most basic steps and features to where I feel like I am not even smart enough to know how to open the program. I already know I'm not very bright and that Blender has a pretty steep learning curve, but still! This tutorial doesn't try to reinvent the wheel in a way that makes you feel like you can never learn the basics and that gives me hope that maybe I could make something like this some day! Thank you!
Looks really good, one thing though, I can't recommend leaving shapes intersecting into mesh. Unless it's a separate item entirely, it really should be stitched into the main mesh. Not always a big deal, just a good habit to keep things clean and make rigging and animation simpler.
Absolutely incredible. Your hard work really made you into a true artist.
clicked for 3D Akko, stayed for amazing skill
Your TH-cam channel is absolutely amazing. The content you create is both entertaining and informative,Keep up the fantastic work, you're doing a fantastic job.Your hard work and dedication are truly inspiring. Keep shining and reaching new heights 🙏🏻
"we did a bit of refinement"
he knew what he was doing there (1:59)
I am so happy someone knows little witch academia!
Oh I loved lwa! Is it not as popular as I had thought?
It’s actually not as popular as it should be because how long it took for season two or that’s what I think!@@BranSculpts
Could 100% imagine this model in an official game
this turned out so good Bran! Love seeing how incredibly skilled you've gotten so quickly, it's awesome!!
Thanks, man! I'm hoping to get into learning a bit of animation in Blender in the coming year and hopefully make goofy little shorts
Japanese anime studio need people like you in their industry
This has better and more accurate shading than official licensed VR game
Yes
little witch academia is underrated
Hey, I found your model a while ago and tried to learn from it, so it's absolutely MINDBLOWING to see how it was made!
Damn, I'm pretty new to blender but this was a ton of help to demystify some of the workflow people do, very nice walk through and all around video! Got me some well needed excitement to get better :)
This turned out soo good! Very hype! always excited to see a video drop :)
ty, sir 🙇
Ah, this was very good! I absolutely LOVE the show she's from, I gave it a 9/10 on MAL which is actually pretty rare for me. Loved watching you sculpt Akko!
When you said you'd do it, I didn't expect this expertly edited video :0
Great job Bran!
but I told you I'd do it!!! and thank you!
"I'm modelling the head the same way I've seen it been done."
As someone who has been doing this recently, I have a tip. Don't... I'm slightly kidding, but man, it can be either a great time or a nightmare depending on how good your reference is. I was working on a Ben 10 related model and the head was fine, the body was mostly fine, BUT THE ARMS??? They were not only at an odd angle, but some parts get drawn in different spots between views. Model sheets can be either the greatest thing ever or a complete mess that needs editing from my experience. Fortunately, you've got some excellent reference.
If you want an actual tip though, don't sample colors from the original image in the viewport. Instead, switch to the Shading Tab and in the bottom left where the image texture appears, sample from that. That way you don't have to deal with any weird lighting or color manipulation. I tried this myself and got a MUCH more accurate color than even using an image plane with 1 Roughness, 0 Specular, and even 1 Emission. The best option is of course to just manually type the hex code, but sampling from the image in the Shading Tab is the next best thing.
yeah man, refs can be tough sometimes since a lot of times the angle get's cheated in the drawings. Thanks for the tip on color picking btw!!
As someone just starting to learn Blender, seeing many of the shortcuts, tips and overall way you handle the program are just jaw-dropping for me. I've still got a loooong way to go, but I am going there
loved the splatoon music lmao
Hey Bran! I'm learning so much with your videos! Thank you so much, keep posting
TYSM!! It really means a lot 😭❤️❤️
This is so damn beautiful it looks PERFECT!
This is one of my favorite animes!
Haha me too!
just concise enough but extremely thorough in explanation and showing the process. ty for this ! i'll have to try some day !! i love akko !
Its so cool ❤
ty!! 😍
thanks so much for this!! I wasn't sure how most of these artists do this, so the details you provided were great. great vid!
Glad it was helpful!
YEAAAAA THE ALGORITHM HAS BLESSED ME WITH LWA CONTENT!
Bless the algorithm!!
Really impressive and straight forward methods for this model. Nice editing style also. May have to start implementing that into my videos. Great content!.👍
Damn, it looks incredible! Nice job!
Right as I saw the thumbnail I clicked on this
I think making your character in 3D and then tracing it would be a great way of making your drawing perspective always correct
Saying that something belongs in ps2 game is a compliment.
Aha you know what I meant :😜
The model is insane man !
(And the ssb brawl ost 10/10)
Super late to this but this is spot on! I would love to try something like this some day. You did a perfect job. 😊
It's so good. From the thumbnail, I didn't even realize it was 3D.
That lofi remix of the Piranha Plant Lullaby from Mario 64 was heat.
AKKO! MY FAVORITE CHARACTER!
Nice work mate!
Thanks!
wow! that turned out way better than I expected. good stuff man
Thanks!!
this is actually an amazing method- ive never seen it done like that before..
Since I am personally making some anime inspired characters for my private series, I think this might be useful. I also like the character's facial expression. I think the design looks good.
Love your videos! They have helped me develop my skills over the past 8 months!
Thanks! haha I hope you're not picking up any of my bad habits! fr tho, it means a lot that my vids are helping out ❤
Great work. Quick Tip: If you do the Eyes in that way, make the Iris concave. That adds Depth to it and looks better overall.
Other than that you can see that there are still a few things of, proportional wise by looking on the Thumbnail but very good Work for the first time!
I see akko
I click
I can just FEEL the amount of work this was put in- oh my god
That's pretty cool !
I'm working on this kind of things for animation, i'm still a beginner, but i'm really going to invest a lot of time and effort into it . Especially because i'm going to make more and more original characters .
Damn! This is fantastic. Can't wait to see what else you do. And I just barely found your channel through twitter.
That's so cool! Brings me back to the video i found you from, your Bulma sculpt
Akko is my favorite design for a main character
Agree! Trigger really knows what they're doing!
Holy shit dude!! You're seriously cracked IRL when it comes to blender! Is there anything you *can't* do!? 🤩💖✨️💫
What do you mean by "cracked IRL"?
@@OrdinaryLatvian I mean "cracked in real life".
@@faizahmohammedaruwa That's a weird expression. Why not just say they're seriously talented?
LOL! there's some deep dark corners of blender I'm not sure I'll ever figure out 😨
@@BranSculpts lmfao. I find that hard to believe, but than I remember nodes 🙈😭🤣
there's something magical to see a 3D model that look very similar to the anime counterpart
Dang that looks difficult as heck
The ene result is great
On the contrary, I think it looks *easier* than it is
Este modelo esta hecho mil veces mejor que las skins de anime que hace Fortnite xdd
Si que es cierto 😂
As a 2D artist trying to get started using Blender I found this really helpful. Thanks.
aw man! Good stuff! love how she came out! Uwaah I would love to use that as my pfp even she turned out so cute! :D Seriously great job!
Looks very good! Great job.
best video ive seen in a while!! thanks for this!
I really liked when he did refinement in sculpt mode
You are the best! Super great tutorial with the unique feature for the 3D objects!
Wow, thanks!
i first saw your work on twitter i think, its really nice, akko best girl
Now, next part is collecting all the 3d printers in the world.
Looks like a Fortnite skin. (This is a compliment because they look really good)
this makes you appreciate Arc sys so much more for making special shaders for moving characters within fighting game environment and such
You are G.O.D. I'm crying right now this is so helpful
Incredible work!
This looks amazing
i love learning from videos like this it was incredibly helpful also gosh damn i really like her boots
Someone needs to make this into a video game FAST
Damn. You're really good at Blender! Nice job.
wow, this is really cool!
Amazing Work! I been looking for a video like this for months! Do more please. Also can you do one with the comic book look?
Honestly a lot better than your usual stuff
I clicked for Akko, am very impressed
Haha ty
wow the final result is amazing!
Thanks!!
you make it look so easy! i just began 3D modeling and it is so hard!
Akko my beloved!
Looks amazing!
Ayo! This looks really amazing, especially for something that's a first attempt! Can't wait to see how you improve. IDK if this will help, but if you look up Guilty Gear Strive, all their models are 3D but capture this same feel of looking like they're 2D. I hope that can give you some help, and good luck on your next project!
I was wondering when someone will mention arc sys cause holy they did black magic to get that effect
Splatoon music used, I am thrilled
The music comes from a super talented artist by the name of @qumumusic.
@@BranSculpts the little opening tune... it's the splatoon 2 news theme, isn't it?
im looking forward to the full tutorial!
Yo you finally did it and It looks amazing!!!
I did it! I told you I would!!
