Yoooo id pay good money for a character course from you i love your models
Same here!
He's already done a free one for the creation of his avatar. But yes rare skills like this need money thrown at them.
I second that, as someone who has done the Blender donut tutorial and started trying to learn character models, I would love an in-depth tutorial or course from Shonzo.
would too
Same!!!
I like the donut tutorial honestly because with the skills you get from it you can just start making things that are way more complicated and satisfying than a donut. I think it made me feel more ownership over my work. Also things like the donut tutorial, I think you get more out of it if you don't follow it exactly to the tee and kinda just make your own thing using principles taught by the tutorial.
Yo, the Donut Tutorial comment and the "need" is so true. I only ever actually started learning Blender and 3D modeling because of my sister and our friends. Once I get more comfortable with Blender from splicing together purchased model parts and learning how to weight paint them all I plan to surprise my sister with a fully custom model
20:30 Thats why the donut tutorial is not bad AT ALL. May be some people preffer to look at a pdf or a video that goes at each tool and just explains what it does, but things like donut tutorial are good because some times is easier to learn when you see the tools being used, so you remember that to give a texture you need to do this, to create a circle you need to click here, etc etc.
Because tutorials like that are not about just creating a donut, are about showing you the tools you should use to create a donut. It doesn't create a need, but it gives you the knowledge to solve those needs.
the guy who made the donut tutorial is a terrible person and honestly should not be supported, and I hate that his video has become synonymous with where people should first start with learning blender. we really need to find other and better resources than that piece of trash.
Well said. I love the donut tutorial for this exact reason. The struggle and finding a need to learn comes after the donut tutorial.
Not really a guide and more of a timelapse, although you've made great guides in the past that go in more depth so no worries
True, though there are many valuable tips and info throughout the video that will help a lot of people.
you are my goat when it comes to 3d anime modeling, after finishing basic tutorials I'm trying this out.
As a TH-cam only watcher, glad to see another great vid after a long while!
When I turned on the video, the sound didn’t work right away, but after it happened, my surprise knew no bounds
Very cool Shonzo.
Bro I’ve been literally watching your other educational video no way blender vids outdate so quickly😭😭😭
First time seeing this channel. Did NOT expect the voice.
This is awesome way of making models❤ I really like it

I wish you could make a unity guide too. This would be so helpful
i do understand that you don't have to watch the doughnut tutorial. i myself skipped it and went straight into making the models and objects. but i probably could have grown faster with a basic understanding that the doughnut tutorial brings. i myself find myself looking up basic stuff after a years worth of effort in blender.
granted i have forced myself to learn and figure out ways to make it without help so it is still in my memory bank and i will really learn the way. though there is always a way to make the same project better. a good example is my first human model and my current model that i am working on. my first model i manually moved every single vector to try make a smooth face compared to know where i figured out how to use the sculpting tools which was a few months back.
my current progress is due to the fact that if i want to make anything, i have to look at 2-5 videos on how to make 1 thing. my 1 year worth of knowledge is still at a beginner level. so videos that are considered tutorials help a lot in progressing one skill and understanding tools and process on making stuff
The donut sucks ass
I too went straight into modeling characters and didn't do the donut tutorial but 100% people should be doing the donut tutorial to get a better understanding of Blender. Blender in itself has a very large learning curve. The view people that someone needs to have a "need" or a "want" to learn is vastly underestimating a persons motivation and pretentious. As someone who has 10 years of formal study with a degree and 20 years of self taught digital... this is an incredibly harmless and gate keepish outlook. Like the "struggle" doesn't help you find the "need". It basically means that if you are thirsty enough to struggle, than you deserve it. When that's a cruel outlook. The program in itself has a complexity and can have many uses in multiple forms of art. Struggle doesn't motivate people to learn... I mean it can but its incredibly dirty. It's like saying fear or starvation motivates. Wonder and exploration also motivate... and most people are naturally curious. I've watched Shonzo's videos and streams from time to time a long time but at this point I usually if I watch I have to watch with the volume off. To start with blender I actually took a class with PKelen.
I dislike the fact i started with the donut tutorial. To me it felt like it was like "heres this, heres that, and this... how it works? figure it out but trust me bro follow along and u wont understand but you'll at least finish the donut". Currently following TomCATs character tutorial but my character is completely different from the tutorial because he explained in away that i can apply it to a completely different mesh. That said my 2 gems when i started was Grant Abotts Monster and Man tutorial was the most begineer friendly tutorial i did and CG fastracks 3.6 fire sword was the 1 that never forgets that u might have forgot the shortcut from 5 seconds and and somehow guides u to do stuff that looks too advanced for urself lol it was the tutorial i was like wtf i did that?
Doing my first character and spent like 250 hours learning... still nowhere near done in my eyes but just to learn to get the proper knuckle and palm topology took me like 7-9 hours and that wasnt even the entire hand... lol so i feel the pain
Wait, what's that on 35:10? You can use curves to draw during texture painting!? Oh my god. This would make drawing circles so much easier as a mouse user.
I'm glad to know this channel
he just makes it from scratch... that's nuts, i expected to see him use the mirror tool at some point in the face
So Great!!
LETS FUCKING GO IV BEEN WAITING HAHAHHAHAH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS THANK YOU
your videos are just
Loving your contents! Could you make a video on the topology side of things? I find it hard to model the face part because certain areas have volumes (i.e cheeks). Also i wanna model in the right topology, because i've tried modelling a body, it looks good but the topology, i'm not satisfied. The chest parts you made have pointed tips topology-wise, which i think provides good control when rigging them, mine was just lines from neck to stomach.
i was not expecting that voice with that model
FIREEEEEE
yeah now you give us tutorial again, noice
Are there any texturing guides / tutorials on the methods that Shonzo uses?
Do you have any tutorial on how to do textures that's more in depth? I'm having trouble drawing lines and colors that doesn't look like it's done in microsoft paint.
OMG KOHARU
Cute. You make cute models
tyttytyytytyt i needed this as i was working on it
Koharu is one of the best girls in Blue Archive. A limited character version of her would be absolutely fire 🔥
Wooooo!!!!
nice guide, thanks for showing me how to import a 3d model ^^
shitty ass guide bro

I really want to learn 3d modeling because I really hate working in call centers and I wante to leave that world behind and focus on this because it seem fun and Is a way to create anime girl without knowing how to draw
senseiii
are you doing commissions?
Dang it, it's my first time in this channel and i really junped from my seat when it was a male voice on the female character
Can you make an in depth guide?
I love koharu
How do you make this black outlines on the head for example? I really wanna know.
Nice video btw i work on it right now to make my own scratch model and i really like to see the way how you create models.
In blender it's done with inverted hull using solidify modifier, but it can be done way easier in blender using one of toon shaders, they usually have outline modes.
Hi, Can you explaine how to create modles like action taimanin style, cause i can see trish in some parts, neck ring have 14 edges, ears are plane, etc
and want to understand that kind of topology😵💫
Why have Udemy when you can have Shonzo teaching you?
Isn't the bare head in the end is the basic "anime character" head? Do anime characters in games like Genshin or BA all have same besic shape head and only the hair and face skin texture differs them from one another? All I can think of changing is chin itself, cheekbones and shape of eyes to make it differ from each other. It would be interesting if you cut several of your anime characters in half, strip of all aside the base model and compare heads. I wonder if it will show much difference. :-D
i mean u can cuantify how hard is something to you, but for anyone or any person is dificult. In my case, i can cuantify how hard is something by just watching, seeing and doing. If i see that i dont get the same results as fast as u can do things means im below, and if im struggling doing something that for u is easy i mean, u can cuantify how hard by just trying to measure the time that is going to take you to make that thing that u are doing, right ? 22:36
14:12 what moddler are you talking about?
Does anyone know how he did the long hair. I'm pretty certain its not a bevel
A wise man said.
If you wanna straight face, you need to sacriface 🤣😂
hey sir how you determined the depth of the anime face without a side face reference?. What parameters do you use? When I attempt it, the depth of the face always appears exaggerated, resulting in a face that looks elongated and unsatisfactory
It's just years of experience, you just get better feeling for it the more you do it.
@@Shonzookay sir thanks for the reply
mind sharing the gut who makes the figure models im trying to get into 3d :D
Every day Except Mondays and Tuesdays at www.twitch.tv/shonzo
If there’s not a need then just make one. Sure you could turn your brain off and follow the donut tutorial but by that point you’re not trying to learn. You shouldn’t watch the donut tutorial with the intentions of making a donut, you should watch it with the intent to learn blender.
I want to know what was the point behind doing what he did at 10:00 - 12:03 ?
I mean, he literally said it. He wanted to test if he could make his reference photo to "look straight".
That's the easiest way to model with a reference, most especially on human characters because they are more often symmetrical (to use a mirror modifier).
question, did you model the body and saved it as a base?
Yea I got multiple bases like that
@@Shonzo hi! I'm in studing modeling 3d blender, can I have some of the base body model that you have? love from vietnam

Hey, I have a great idea.
You should reupload this video but split it into several parts. So overall shorter duration for specific topic.
Oh, and also put more related keywords in the tags as you upload.
You will get more views than what this video had
But You 10:40 can use AI like PixAI to turn her head 😊❤
can people please stop recommending that donut tutorial. the blenderguru is a pretty terrible person and I hate seeing his stuff being pushed all the time. we need to start using other resources to teach people blender that doesnt come from a bigoted NFT cryptobro. the dude complained about not being able to say slurs, jumped on the NFT bandwagon, has been known to throw the N-word around, he follows jordan peterson, and just all around keeps spewing his awful opinions everywhere. and its not like you can ignore them and just watch his tutorials because he'll occasionally say that stuff during his tutorials and just.. leave them in for some reason? like he doesnt see an issue with those things so he doesnt bother editing them out. the dude does not deserve the support he gets. look up other blender tutorials people.
Cute and Breedable as always 😭😭😭
brah isnt a vtuber anime girl looks SUS and STRANGE with the man voice...?
Dude, don't be a tourist. Plenty of people do, it doens't mean anything. Rev says Desu also does it.
