it's kinda poetic- turning old art into new modern art in a modern medium ✨
Contemporary, not modern.
Literally synonymous words. Look up the definition.@@theothertonydutch
WHAT IS BETTER FOR RIGGING A CHARACTER, MODELING OR SCULPTING?!!!
@@HerrscherofSimp3164 ? Just rig in blender.
@@thisisashan Sorry, I was not clear back there. What I meant was that if there is any problem with the rigging when modeling or sculpting, or if any of those methods affect the rigging.
Imagine a game where every asset was designed this way. Actually, the game that comes to mind that this would thrive the most in is The Unfinished Swan.
Definitely need more games with monochromatic style. The only game I know of with that style is Madworld.
wasn't bendy just this but with black and white switched?
I'm sure games like that exist, but most of them are in a rubberhose cartoon style, not a manga style. Now, normally I'm more of a cartoon guy than an anime guy, but variety is the spice of life. This imbalance must be corrected.
I think dragon ball fighters is one of the closest things we have to this
guilty gear strive is 3d models looking 2d. looks incredible
Launch really is the probably one of the most forgotten DB chars. Warning: There's a crapton of copium in the thread.
I wish they would bring her back somehow....make it where when she gets pissed and turns she becomes a low Key Z fighter..but with abilites that mimic the weapons she uses 😂😂😂😂😂 would be great
that's a sentence
she was so cool but toriyama has admitted to forgetting a lot of plot points from earlier chapters
Learn English.
@@bruhzzer When was the last time she was relevant? A long ass time ago.
Lunch is one of my favorite Dragon Ball characters. You never knew when she would sneeze and mess everything up.
Yes, A "Lunch" enthusiast!
I don't remember lunch being a character at all 😂
lunch😂
Useful terminology when describing sculpting areas that are often uncomfortable to talk about:
1. Bust
2. Pelvis
Better terms:
1. Jigglers
2. Sniz
1. Penis
2. Penis
BUSSST
nearly lost it when he said "bewbs" 😂
@@DungeonMiser I am hearing those terminology first time In my life, people would be more confused if they hear that.
Considering how this style is, as you put it, cheated at certain angles its a wonder that the turnaround looks as clean and sells the illusion as well as it does. If animated it feels like any seams or awkward shapes with the perspective could be smoothed with some clever shapekeys or the like. Great work!
Modern DB games just break the models to get it to look right.
RIP Akira Toriyama
@8:52 Oh my god, I DIDNT KNOW YOU CAN DO THAT WITH PROPORTINAL EDITING, I've been hiding verts when I do shape keys for the mouth. That "Connected Only" checkbox changed my life
Right!? It’s so useful
Bro i love this guy. I watch and find myself watching the whole video and learning A ton of stuff. I think so far it’s hard to find a blender TH-camr who uploads often, who makes cartoonish characters and look really good/identical and also makes it a fun and education like huhhhhhh am i dreaming???
Also the work flow makes things feel so much easier
Thank you so much for enjoying my videos! It really does come down to the proper workflow and it can take someone a little bit of time to get into their own. But I say, whatever helps and makes it simple, then do it!
best blender channel for me, i'll be supporting u always!
Same
Thank you! I appreciate that!
@@BranSculpts do you have tutorials for beginners?
@@alejandrojaramilloarias I do have a series that is kind of for beginners. You need to know the layout of blender but it is easier to follow along than my other videos.
@@BranSculpts In the series you have there you teach how to make a torso, head, legs and so on, since I need to learn from your skills to learn how to model human characters. Please
dude that looks fantastic. would love to see a black and white 3d cartoon in this style
I can't thank you enough for including the part where you make your own t-pose! I really couldn't wrap my head around it, but now it will open up so many more possibilities!
I love how it’s Launch from OG dragonball.
Toryama may have forgotten about her but he may have translated the idea of turning blond and stronger as a super sayin from her, I think.
with the same method of screaming really loud, too
@@hohuy3656 😅
The sudden Splatoon 2 off the hook intro gave me whiplash I didnt not expect it 😭
Even when I get off of Splatoon for the day, Splatoon finds me 😅
I did a work with grease pencil last week. So TH-cam started to show me a bunch of 3D work with grease pencil, and suddenly I was here seeing your work. And I have to say. This is one of the most beautiful works I ever saw in my life. Amazing job
ayo thanks!!
I've never done 3d art, but I watch a lot of stuff about it and this seems like straight up magic to me. 3D Anime, espec in games, has come quite a way but this. This FEELS like anime.
love that its still in black and white, just adds that much more charm
Saving this for when I eventually bite the bullet and dive into 3d modelling now that I'm trying to get into the indie game dev scene. This feels like a really fun style that would be in some ways easier to do a small project with
It is a very fun style to do!
Rest in peace Toriyama.
you are the most articulate 3D modeler I have ever watched
Thank you!
I saw the result the other day, you're so good. I'm happy that you made a video about it
R.I.P Akira Toriyama 😔
thing i learned about hands is using sub divided cubes and making its in sculpting mode. just make each joint of the hand as one cube and join them together after that shape in edit mode.
I was wowed when i saw that the end result looked like an actual drawing
You are awesome ❤ thank you so much 😊
One of the most underrated/forgotten DB characters
to be honest, this is my favorite blender related channel. I have learned the most from your videos in such a short time. Also, impeccable taste in subject matter. Launch and Botan were probably my favorite projects of yours to date.
Thank you so much! They were pretty fun to make too!
I just wanna say your stuff is a massive inspiration to my work and the way I changed my workflow when it comes to my models, I always love learning from what you show on these videos and how I can approach how to adapt a majority of art styles into 3D. I know it's not per say related to the video, but I just wanna say thanks for showing your work with the world!
That's awesome! I like to help everyone as much as I can by what I'm learning or new things I'm trying. It sounds cheesy, but I like when everyone can can feel proud of the work they make and if it takes my videos to help then that's awesome too!
I always look forward to your videos. They are the best! Keep em coming 😊
your workflow is just briliant, congrats!
Very nice work. Good techniques, good narration. This is like a Blender refresher course.
Dude that finished piece is awesome! Great seeing Launch get some love.
Nice! * Saves video for later idea that will never be made *
The way you made the reference is genius
Whoa ive never seen these techniques for 3D modeling anime characters. Crazy awesome work!
Excellent stuff as always!
You have incredible talent. This was really cool to watch!
Your art always amazes me. Your ability tohit the reference is insane.
Thank you! There has been a ton of practice involved. lol
i think the difference between the 3d model and the drawing is that the model* looks lifeless. The jittery lineart and the rough pen textures give manga a feel that you cant really get anywhere else. For example if youre trying to replicate the manga style in digital art, use a sketch pencil as your only brush. Then duplicate your final drawing layer to make it darker. Thats what ive been doing and honestly it does a good job at replicating the style im trying to replicate. I dont think its possible to add nodes on the lines in blender, but if you could I would definetly make the lineart less perfect and more squiggly and rough. It gives it this hand drawn feel and it gives it personality too! Really good model also! I have no idea how to even comprehend how you would do this even though you show your process lol.
I do have a full real time video up on my gumroad of me making Launch. It's 13 hours long but it shows everything I do. A real step by step process. I feel like the more detail a model has, the more it brings to the table and it really is all the small details that make them come to life.
I am def gonna have to watch that 13 hour vod
Absolutly fantastic and I can do almost everything you do here (especially the nightmare of retopo) and I can say you are very well eased to do such a work in a so short time. I am astonished by your talent sincerely. 13 hours where I would need several weeks (more than a week at least) and I am pretty certain that my result would be less appealing. Man, you rock ! I shared your video to lot of my friends.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
This is so fascinating!!
That Freestyle Mark Edges tip just made me rethink all the seams I've had to draw in Photoshop for the past 5 years...
Sculpt mode is so daunting, this video is one of the few that made it feel approachable!
idk why this was recommended my way, but I am glad it was.
Excellent, you are a great artist
Bro. This is nuts.
this video is gold. I learned a lot in such a short amount of time!
Stunning!
Top notch work as always
Awesome work! Thanks for this video.
Hasta siempre, Akira Toriyama.
wow, incredible work, it looks amazing
Just like your peach beach sculpt, this is another S tier stuff as usual ❤
Really great job !! Thanks for sharing
That's really marvelous!
well done, thats pretty cool!
Oh my goodness, this would take so long. You are so talented, I can't even imagine how difficult this would be.
Dude your skill with a silhouette is wild, respect. 😎 😎
Fantastic as always man!
This looks so cool!
I like you buddy you make art for the right reasons.
Thank you! I like to help people as much as I can.
Lunch was likely my first anime crush as a kid. She was just gorgeous, also innocent and terrifying all at once.
greatly helpful! thank you for sharing
Amazing cell shading
I'll read this, need a full series manga like this
Bran never disappoints!! His creativity is peak.
beautiful. hope we get to see her animated
My favorite part about 3D modelling is there aren't really restrictions to what you can hide in your models.
Incredible as always
This is amazing ! Thank you for sharing ♥
I kinda want a game that looks just like that now
I hobby amend existing models and I'm just in awe of your work. You make it look so easy and it really isn't 🍻
It can be hard at times, but if you enjoy doing what you do, it's all fun! lol
Yeahhhhhh I love lunch the art looks amazing bro keep up the hard work
She looks so good!!! Your amazing at being able to capture the look of 2D in 3D!!!
Amazing work.
it looks so easy. no clue how i struggled so much in school sculpting hands 🤣🤣🤣
Amazing work as always!
bro youre so skilled and talented imma come back to your channel for tutorials when i get a computer
Aww... thank you!
so beautiful
Finally, Launch is back! haha, great work man!
Wow! amazing work, amazing tips. Contratulations!!!
Awesome way of narrating a tutorial!
Excellent work as always
Itch gonna have a field day with this one
Wow. You’re really talented.
ur a genius… blew my mind using the middle bar tool i forgot the name for making the face im a beginner at this ive just been starting with cubes faces r harddd
wtf bro, look so dope, i wanna read the entire manga again in this shades!
Oh hey I’ve seen your work on twitter, good stuff
Hallway through the video, I'm suddenly relieved that my roommate doesn't move in until later this April
I’m very jealous of how good you are at this, I should learn blender 😪
the 3d sphere and the shrinkwrap to shape the back of the head......WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!?
Amazing work.
Game devs should really take notes from this.
This is pure art, this is beautiful.
Thank you!
Seeing the discrepancy between the cursed-ness of the realistically shaded anime proportions and the final result helps put it in perspective how much I doubt things. Real standard "did he lose his touch?" to a "Bran, you son of a bitch" arc for me
Wow, if nothing else I would love to see a full video about your thought processes when doing up those reference images, because I had never considered that to be a thing I could just do lol.
Well it could be your lucky day. I have this full video up on my gumroad. It's a dollar cause the file is so large but it goes into real time of me creating Launch from start to finish. It might be able to help you out. I don't talk in it but it's easier to see step by step what I'm clicking.
That crude hand looked better than my polished hands
Damn this is WAAAAAAY better than Dragon Ball Super:Superhero artstyle
Bro, you have talent!
thanks!
This has literally inspired me to try learning 3d modelling again. Thank you 😊
Do it!!! Get back into it!
