My only complaint about the flush cockpit is it needs a 3rd screen on the right where all those useless buttons are. The truck cab-over cockpit is currently my favorite, but if the flush one gets that 3rd screen, it will instantly be my new favorite.
Prototech actually has a lot of potential for modded games too. You could alter some more powerful things added by mods to require some prototech components.
Definitely depends on the encounter you come across and how soon you venture out to one. Some are chill, some are deadly unless you have a ship with significant armor and weapons.

Would love to see consistent release of new encounter setups to gain the Prototech blocks, and even a release which is a competition for best community designed encounters and best 3 or 5 get to be added to vanilla SE. Would incentivise a lot of people to make high detail encounters of varying size and showcase what the community can do whilst also giving content to the player base! Love this update!!!
The new G screen is great. I just continued playing space engineers after not playing it for a while and I was having trouble remembering the names of all the stuff. But in the menu it was easy to study up and remember them because of the groups.
Been restarting a survival game in deep space start, and yeah, I forgot how dreadfully weak ions are. I crashed into the moon, reloaded the save, and stuck just two small large grid H2 thrusters on it, and suddenly I could land with ease, despite the ship being about 1M Kg in mass. H2 is the way. I will be grinding prototech ions for their scrap. I have no interest in ions, aside from using them as precision maneuvering thrusters for docking in space.
I was finally able to test this on keen server this sunday, a few server crash on Saturday night, indeed, it really adds meaning to the multiplayer game and pvp!! The original Sky box would be revised or variable,it modernizes the game so much, there are some magnificent ones!! good clip
No Xbox update and no unknown signals either, I have more than 1000 hours, I haven’t encountered one before and let alone getting a skin in game rather than from an achievement. Forget sometimes how different the Xbox is from the pc version. It’s a shame
I love most of the contact update but the g menu changes made thing worse. So many Groups were broken up i can no longer fit all the blocks into my tool bars. I've used the same tool bar set up for years and rarely ever opened the g menu. it doesn't have to make sense that merg blocks are with the pistons they just have to be there where they have always been. a line of text explaining the block groups and the 9 slots in each of you nine tool bars would have been a much better way of helping new players figure it out. alienating the 4000 hour plus guys was an interesting choice.
The only thing i don't like about the new encounters is having to grab the blocks with landing gears/magnetic plates; it's just inconvenient and unnecessary, especially when enemy ships keep spawning in.
In survival you can't even use the blocks you find because they can't be hacked. You can put a control panel on them and convert them to ships and move them around then do nothing with them because if you try to hack them by grinding them down all you get is scrap. Even if you merge them to your ship most of the block are turned off by default so you now have a dead enemy block attached to your ship which is super fun when you bring it back to your base only to have your turrets attack it. I don't think anyone actually bothered to play test all the way through. The new prototech stuff is good if you're doing a showcase and want to show off the pretty new stuff but in actual survival playthrough it's a complete disaster. Also, even if you have both global and random encounters turned off Prototech stuff still spawns in.
They work fine for me, most blocks you find are unowned, and you can drag them out just fine and attach them to a ship. Then there's also the prototech assembler which allows you to straight up build the prototech parts apart from the frames. I feel like the only one who didn't really playtest here is you my dude.
You can hack em. Prototech panels aren't turned to scrap and computers are near the top of the list. You just don't wanna use a fast grinder and be very careful about it
@@TheTechmaster1999 The prototech circuits get turned to scrap once you grind them. The refinery (both sizes) jump drive, and assembler all have mats that turn to scrap well above the hack line.
attach merge blocks and use landing gear to actually engineer them instead of complaining, use your skills and stop trying to make everything from scratch

It didn’t ruin mine. But then again what do I know. I’m only working 100 hours per week and working offshore. So personally I’m not bothered yet, since I still have a week on the rig.
Not a fan of the Prototech thrusters; the thruster nozzle extention looks too much like the old ion thrusters. The particle for it's thruster flame also looks like an old anime cartoon. The Warfare ion thrusters have better aesthetics IMHO.
The console version needs so love especially tge menus navigating them is not fun and building .....yeah.....needs help....do you guy's play the console version with controller? You should and hopefully yoy can improve the experience.

The official trailer had another faction show up and attack the people who just looted the factorum, so PVP is very intentional.
Love the new update, reminds me of the Heists in GTA 5, much needed depth for the game. 👍

that's always been possible. in try hard pvp servers people set SZ to allow weapons to fire but not damage

you talk about large thrusters, measure the Titan thruster mod.. i think it is 20x5x5 large block with a 20 block long ion flame....
