I was waiting for you to recognize this one Dave 😆.
Just think back to your childhood. It was all over the radio in the eighties!

David this was their farewell performance, that's why everyone was so emotional. The entire show is amazing & well worth watching.

Why was it farewell, did they break up for some reason? (never heard of them, go easy on me)

@@jakefromstatefarm1405 yeah they broke up. At this point (in 96) they'd been together for a decade & released 4 albums & just needed a break. Sadly, Paul (drummer) hung himself a few years later. But in 2006 the remaining members got back together along with Neil Finn's sons & are still together & touring now. My favorite CH songs are Better Be Home Soon, Fall at Your Feet, Whispers & Moans & this song of course. But all their are great & this concert was phenomenal, it's here on TH-cam.

Dave, when you said you hadn't heard this song before, I KNEW you had! I was grinning when the moment of realization came to you xD An absolutely iconic song from the Australian and New Zealand band, Crowded House. When it comes to melodies and song structures, the best after them are The Beatles, which they are inspired by. The performance you just watched from them was from the last concert of the original lineup before they broke up in 1996. Drummer Paul Hester sadly committed suicide about 10 years later. Then the band reformed. LOTS of classic songs from this group. 'Better Be Home Soon' , 'Weather With You', 'Fall At Your Feet', 'Four Seasons In One Day' etc. Incredible band.

I knew you'd recognize it, David! 😊 This song is a classic released in the mid 80s. Love your reviews!

First heard this as a kid on an episode of Miami Vice & for years I thought it was called Hey Now, lol. A brilliant, perfect song & this performance makes me cry every time.

It's okay - EVERYONE has heard this song at some point. It's pretty pervasive. It's the "hey now, hey now". :)

-We can see a classic scene with this song, on the TV show "Miami Vice" in the 1980's, (in last scene of the episode: 'Rock and a Hard Place')

This is one of my all time favorite songs, and it blew my mind when I found out Eddie Vedder had collaborated with the lead singer, Neil Finn. Two of my favorites!

This song did reach number 2 of the Billboard charts in America, so its highly likely youve heard it.

This is a special one to me. As an American, I had thought this band had broken up, as to us in the US, they were basically a two-hit wonder, despite having released 4 albums to that date. I happened to be in Australia at that time, and was dragged to some free show happening in at the Sydney Opera House. It was Crowded House: this very show. There were tens of thousands of people at this show and the first (and last) time I saw them live with their original lineup. When this song and the other big single they had in the US, "Something So Strong" played, I knew exactly who they were. I missed getting their catalog, but did pick up the special edition 2-CD set of their Greatest Hits album, which included a live show. I've all but worn those two CDs out.
This was the last song of their encore set, and basically the last song they were playing ever, as this was their farewell show (conveniently called "Farewell To The World"). The song was released in 1986, and HUGE in 1987. It stuck out through everything as it was pure pop, and not the fabricated bubble gum pop of the time. But now you know why Dave Mustaine said that if he were to die any given day, he'd die a happy man because he'd have a picture of his wife and kids with him, and all of his Crowded House music. For a metal guy (Big 4 at that) to like Crowded House.. it says a lot to everyone to say that you don't have to be completely and totally 100% hardcore metal 24/7 to be metal.

I like a couple of their songs quite a bit. Although I've never heard this one before. They have a pretty good song called Amsterdam that I used to place on playlists between heavier songs by other artists.

Really unsure how anyone could have not heard this before, it gets beaten to death on commercial radio and is always on in stores and restaurants, etc. I liked it more as a kid but the insidious repetition sadly ruined this song for me (a little). So in a way I'm envious that someone else hasn't been made sick of it by now.
