I’m 48 and been thinking of building me another mini truck.Been out of the game since mid 90’s. Found your channel today and been watching your videos so I’ve been burning marketplace up looking for a Mazda.haha . Go topless on that white truck with camper shell with a sliding rag in the top of it. Give it that old school look.
Convertible top, Mitch I’ll be watching this build. I own an 89 b2600i and man the engine parts are hard to find😢 the new build will be awesome also !!
The auto trans was made by Jatco. The B's with carbonator got a hydraulic controlled version with a stand alone control module located in the driver footwell. The fuel injected B's got an electronic controlled version with the control built into the ECM. I have the electronic controlled version and it's been 100% trouble free. The best product I've found to rejuvenate rubber is Shin-Etsu. My shift gear indicator cover broke 20 years ago. No plans to fix it. That welting cord on the seat cover is factory.
I don't know if I mentioned it in the video but I'm thinking in the end it'll get sold or raffled off so I was thinking maybe if I wrapped it it would give the next owner more choice of what they wanted to do with it
@@MazdaMitch - I'll be here watching, I dig that there are guys keeping these on the road. I always liked the B series trucks. Never owned one, but am considering finding one to restore.
I would love to see it convertible cause I want my truck convertible..my truck is a 91 automatic I was looking for a automatic can't drive standard do to my health but wouldn't change it its nice just to get in and go and cruise..I can't wait to see this build
Whatever gets you to put a shell on it target top it is. My 89’ has had a shell since I bought it and it looks really good to me,love these little trucks if I ever want to sell mine I know who to call. Keep it up Mitch 👌
That’s a nice looking truck you picked up and very original. It seems to have the LX interior with the sport steering wheel, Deluxe door panels, back wall carpeting, tack dash. All the stuff I wish I had on my 91 B2200.
I'm really looking forward to this build. I need to document my new project as well. I just may do that! Thanks Mitch...GOOD LUCK on this one! Should be a nice one! My vote for this one is go with the Targa top!
Great ideas! I have cut the bed off a king cab and added a long bed. Also cut it convertible. It was a rubber plastic kit worked ok. 1added hydros to bed and all the wheels. The I started tearing it apart to go full show . Didn't happen yea ended up losing the truck where I had it stored at...... Any how been thing about doing another one and this is what I think........... How about vut and stretching the whole body with and adding about 5"-7" to it yes cab ,bed and hood .. then adding 7" to the cab . I'm crazy about but tell what u think
Full on convertible would be cool. ABS conversion. Love the idea of letting us pick the paint job. No idea on the rubber revitalization. Would like to know what the answer to that question!
Do a resto mod. Update all the lights and stuff, make it look like a newer truck. I don't know if that's what you do, this is my first time watching your videos, but that's what I'd do
To Rejuvinate the rubber spray silicone spray on it. There's dry silicone spray and wet spray. You want the wet spray. It soaks into the rubber and keeps it soft and prevents dry rot. Use it on door seals too, any rubber parts. I worked at Ford and that's what the dealerships do to service the cabin seals. 3M 08877 Silicone is good. The 3M Dry silicone (08897) is good for window guides, door locks etc. There's alot of brands there all pretty much the same.
If you do Targa please add a center support brace. The windshield will move back and forth if you don't. Just my experiences. The full convert would be great, but the "A" pillars will still flex if you don't address the weakness.
Nice pickup Mitch! Hope you have a header laying around too because that's another part impossible to buy nowadays. Excited to see where you take the build
Good luck with your "new" Mazda. I subscribe to your videos and I will follow your work with this Mazda and I will have some questions going forward. Among other things the rubber strip on the doors on the window regulator??? I have a B 1800 1980 and I live in Sweden. Not many pickups left here.
A lot of people want to vert it. That seems to be the most popular desire. Plus what if I can do it so well, that its almost seamless and can make a kit for it for others to use?
Might do an engine rebuild series for those that need to know how to rebuild what they have, then later may swap to a fe3 and see what all that fuss is about, then maybe later we do something else??

Full on convertible for sure.
Convertible, silver flake paint job with some Dayton spokes!

Full Convertible

I have done that on other trucks and it works for a while, but it's gets stiff again and it's never as good as new.
Great starting point.
great find Mitch! I'm have a auto also, that I just swap to 5 speed.
Full convertible
Yes please do follow the build. It helps out so much
I plan on it.
I'm on the targa top side.
Ford Ecoboost 2.3 would be good.
A friend's neighbor did that swap two years agoin a old Ranchero it runs and drives excellent so clean underneath the hood every works
Maybe also a drum brake conversion to calipers would be nice too
We gotta do that!
Convertible would be cool.
Hey Mitch, id really like to see that hard top type, whatever you it'd be awesome
If you do Targa please add a center support brace. The windshield will move back and forth if you don't. Just my experiences. The full convert would be great, but the "A" pillars will still flex if you don't address the weakness.
Good info!
Convertible top would be awesome!
