      old people, 😆, like your parents often refer to the universal truth that there is a scientific reason for making the windshield bigger than the rearview mirror. because what you focus on, is what you become. if you're always looking in the rearview mirror, you're never going to have a hope in hell of a life worth living, if you give yourself over to rumination. that's the root of all mental illness. depression is living in regrets. anxiety is fear of the future, because you haven't reconciled your regrets. this "influencer" is not going to help 1 person. its the blind leading the blind. it's your choice. move forward ( not possible without forgiveness); or stay stuck, miserable, confused forever. it's your choice. welcome to life on life's terms. your welcome.

    Slavery is also enshrined the Ten Commandments: “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male slave, or his female slave, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Even though some Bible versions use the more polite word "servant" even though slave is more accurate as they are listed with wives, oxen, and donkeys as things that "belong" to someone. Talking about how wives (and daughters) were owned by their husbands and fathers, thus making them slaves is a whole other topic. There are plenty of rules in the Bible about how to sell daughters, including accepting payment from a man who raped a daughter and having him marry her.

      The fact is that these words are as authoritative in judaism today as in the old days. They do not admit it but they are. They try to cover it up by saying "those are deprecated instructions" from antiquity and beyond. To the tribe "god of israel is eternal" meaning those hints are forever relevant. Today it is slavery by usury. The god of israel instructs them to lend on interest to foreigners it even says 'ye shall exact it again" referring to compound interest which is a genocidal killer type of usury. At the same time he is prohibiting israelites to lend to one another on interest. The text says: "if you listen to my advice you will be blessed in every land you enter to possess it." Isnt that exactly what they have been doing everywhere until their bankers succeeded to build up the international usury system? Now they can settle back after the "6" days of work while the bankers hold the breasts of the earth in their hands controlling countries, continents and the entire earth. Now their calendar is at 5784. The six days are almost over and they need to implement yet another world war. The most distructive of all to gain superiority over all the nations before they enter the 7th millenea. I have been studying the secrets of judaism for sometime now. I know it sounds outlandish. This is what they are going to do because what you think are just prophecies in reality are the plans, the blueprint and the behavioural instructions in allegorical form. In the form of mythological stories. All instructions written there are authoritative today including taking slaves from other nations.

It's absolutely wild, and it's incredible that despite defending slavery or dismissing it or completely gaslighting you over what the Bible says in order to not address it, Christians actually think they have the high-ground over atheist/agnostics when it comes to models of morality.

      @bibletrivialistsandstats On Exodus, I don't care about your opinion. Do your own research. It's well known beyond the supernatural claims that the trip the Israelites supposedly had was impossible.

    Just starting the video but this reminded me of the time my step-brother insisted that the Bible didn't condone slavery by 1. pretending that "condone" meant enthusiastically encouraging it and calling it a good thing and 2. by pointing to a passage (I think it may have been in the book of Titus) where Paul sent a slave friend of his back to the slave master with a letter requesting the slave master release the slave so that he could travel with Paul.
    Utterly ridiculous.
    It's crazy the lengths some people will go to to try to pretend the Bible doesn't say what it actually says.

      There are many topics in the Bible that we humans will never understand. The people
      Were already enslaving people as property from the spoils of war. Did not God help Moses free the Israelites from the Egyptians who had taken the Israelites into slavery as a reward for a war victory? So slavery was already humanly being implemented as proceeds from war victories. God didn't seem like he was agreeing with slavery when He freed the Israelites from the Egyptians and the Bablyonians slavery. God was instructing His people how to treat slaves. You seem to think that slavery was cruel. What about cutting off a thieves hand for stealing or the eye for an eye punishment in the old testament? There are plenty of actions in the Bible that seem to be cruel and unjust punishments. Not just slavery. But it all was God's plan to establish His Kingdom with His people as he saw fit. Not how we see it.
      You are listening to a young lady that like most young people today seem to be putting their touchy feelings to interpret the Bible. I would bet that this young lady would be against spanking ones children because it says in the Bible spare not the rod. @@pansepot1490 There is a difference between Israelites and Gentiles(everyone who isn't an Israelite such as: nations, foreigners, strangers, heathens, and so on).
      The OT literally promised the Israelites to destroy or enslave all nations. Here are some quotes which indicate that.
      Isaiah 60:16
      "You will also suck the milk of nations And suck the breast of kings; Then you will know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."
      Deuteronomy 11:23-25
      "23then Yahweh will dispossess all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you. 24Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours; your border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the river, the river Euphrates, as far as the western sea. 25No man will be able to stand before you; Yahweh your God will put the dread of you and the fear of you on all the land on which you set foot, as He has spoken to you."
      Here it is stated that all the nations from Gentiles will become the property of the Israelites.
      Psalms 47:3
      "3He subdues peoples under us
      And nations under our feet."
      Again the people from the nations also known as Gentiles will be subdued.
      Deuteronomy 14:21
      "21“You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the sojourner who is within your gates, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk."
      In short if you find a road kill you can sell that to Gentiles.
      Deuteronomy 23:20
      "20You may charge interest to a foreigner, but to your brother you shall not charge interest, so that Yahweh your God may bless you in all that you send forth your hand to do in the land which you are about to enter to possess."
      In short you can trick Gentiles with high interest rates and suck them dry.
      Deuteronomy 7:22-24
      "22And Yahweh your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, lest the wild beasts become too numerous for you. 23But Yahweh your God will give them over before you and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed. 24And He will give their kings into your hand so that you will make their name perish from under heaven; no man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them."
      Here the nations will be slowly destroyed little by little and take note we are even called wild beasts here. And how is he going to destroy us? Through confusion. How do you confuse? Through deception.
      Deuteronomy 2:25
      "25This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the peoples everywhere under the heavens, who, when they hear the report of you, will tremble and be in anguish because of you.’"
      In context this was after some slaughters in which he gave the Amorites into their hands. But recognize that he speaking here about everywhere under the heavens. So all on earth. He is stating here that he will make all people fear the Israelites. That they are in anguish because of them.
      Leviticus 25:44-46
      "44As for your male and female slaves whom you may have-you may acquire male and female slaves from the nations that are around you. 45And also you may acquire from the sons of the foreign residents who sojourn among you, from them and their families who are with you; as for those whom they have begotten in your land, they also may become your possession. 46You may even give them as an inheritance to your sons after you, to receive as a possession; you can use them as permanent slaves. But in respect to your brothers, the sons of Israel, you shall not have dominion over one another with brutality."
      Take a look at how Gentiles become permanent slaves who can even be inherited. You can even be brutal to them as long as they are not Israelites. How brutal can you be? Let's check this out:
      Exodus 21:20-21
      "20“And if a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall surely be punished. 21But if for a day or two he is able to stand, no punishment shall be taken; for he is his property."
      Isaiah 61:5-6
      "5Strangers will stand and pasture your flocks,
      And foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers.
      6But you will be called the priests of Yahweh;
      You will be spoken of as ministers of our God.
      You will eat the wealth of nations,
      And in their glories you will boast."
      In short Gentiles become your labor force and you will suck their wealth away from them. And you can even boast about robbing others of their labor.
      Isaiah 45:14
      "14Thus says Yahweh,
      “The fruit of the labor of Egypt and the profit of Ethiopia
      And the Sabeans, men of stature,
      Will come over to you and will be yours;
      They will walk behind you; they will come over in chains
      And will bow down to you;
      They will make supplication to you:
      ‘Surely, God is with you, and there is none else,
      No other God.’ ”"
      Another one which promises enslavement of Gentiles. In this regards it mentioned some specific nations though.
      Isaiah 60:10-12
      "10“Foreigners will build up your walls,
      And their kings will minister to you;
      For in My wrath I struck you,
      And in My favor I have had compassion on you.
      11“Your gates will be open continually;
      They will not be closed day or night,
      So that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations,
      With their kings led in procession.
      12“For the nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish,
      And the nations will surely be laid waste."
      Here we go again: Suck the nations of their wealth and the ones who don't want to will be destroyed. In short become their labor slave or die.
      Isaiah 49:23
      "23“Kings will be your guardians,
      And their princesses your nurses.
      They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth
      And lick the dust of your feet;
      And you will know that I am Yahweh;
      Those who hope in Me will not be put to shame."
      Here the Kings of the Gentiles will become guardians and nurses and kneel in front of them and get humiliated.
      Jeremiah 1:10
      "10“See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms,
      To uproot and to tear down,
      To cause to perish and to pull down,
      To build and to plant.”"
      Here they have the "divine" right to uproot and tear down the nations without their consent of course.
      Jeremiah 46:28
      "28“O Jacob My servant, do not fear,” declares Yahweh,
      “For I am with you.
      For I will make a complete destruction of all the nations
      Where I have banished you,
      Yet I will not make a complete destruction of you;
      But I will discipline you with justice
      And by no means leave you unpunished.”"
      Read this. He will make a COMPLETE destruction of ALL the nations where he has the "Chosens" banished to. So if a Chosenite is in your country then according to this, your country will be completely destroyed. You find more or less the same quotes in Jeremiah 30:10-11.
      Jeremiah 51:20-23
      "20 He says, “You are My instrument of shattering, My weapon of war;
      And with you I shatter nations,
      And with you I destroy kingdoms.
      21“With you I shatter the horse and his rider,
      And with you I shatter the chariot and its rider,
      22And with you I shatter man and woman,
      And with you I shatter old man and youth,
      And with you I shatter choice man and virgin,
      23And with you I shatter the shepherd and his flock,
      And with you I shatter the farmer and his pair of oxen,
      And with you I shatter governors and prefects."
      Before I start, these quotes are in context with the calamity against Babylon. But since he is speaking generally in these quotes I added them. Look what he is saying. The Israelites are his weapon of war which brings destruction to Gentiles. And of course he has to go into details like shattering man, woman, old man and young and so on. Please now, just imagine there are some Israelites/Jews who take that book seriously with quotes like this. Don't you think they would be a danger to all other people on this planet?
      Daniel 2:44
      "44And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will cause a kingdom to rise up which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself stand forever."
      The context here is the dream which Daniel interpreted. Well that's something all the abrahamic faith believers want because they think that it's the rule of their savior. But at the end of the day this is one world government. A system once it is corrupt will bring a nightmare to all the common people on this planet. Everyone supporting one world government is in my opinion an enemy "a Satan" to all the commoners.
      Psalms 2:8-9
      "8Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance,
      And the ends of the earth as Your possession.
      9You shall break them with a rod of iron,
      You shall shatter them like a potter’s vessel.”"
      Here you can get Gentiles as possession by demand and are allowed to crush them.

      Like, okay, so the bible DID improve its chattel slavery (Romans treated slaves like pets and continuously complained about freeman ex-slaves demanding rights and stuff and called THEM "slaves" anyway; meanwhile the Greeks called their slaves "body", "child", "human-footed [animal]", and would dress them up in animal skins in Sparta)...
      It improved it from "they're cattle" to "they're pets, and you shouldn't permanently maim or kill a pet".
      And we're really supposed to praise that? like, any farmer with a hint of sense even back then would ALREADY be doing that for their working animals, because those are expensive and it takes time to train one, so extending it to slaves shouldn't have been so revolutionary if humans weren't such sadists when they get enough power/resources that they can afford slaves.

      Believe with all of your heart the gospel, and you will be saved and set free. The real power is in the gospel according to God it only has the power to set a person free from the bondage of sin and death.
      This is not just head knowledge and knowing this.
      This trust comes from your heart when you truly believe it.
      Rest and trust in the assurance that Jesus Christ gives us the gift of eternal life and a new glorified body at the rapture and new heavens and earth
      Please ask God to show you this truth
      Romans 1:16
      “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
      Testifying Both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, Repentance Toward God, and faith Toward our Lord Jesus Christ. acts 20:21).
      The Bad News
      The first mention of not inheriting the kingdom of God is found in Paul’s first letter to the church at Corinth.
      Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
      1 Corinthians 6:9-10
      Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
      Galatians 5:19-21
      19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
      21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
      THE GOOD NEWS
      We receive the holy spirit of Christ when we believe the gospel
      Ephesians 1:13-14 (ESV)
      13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
      14 Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory
      (1 Corinthians 15:(1-4). THE GOSPEL THAT SAVES, PAUL SPEAKING
      Moreover, brethren, I declared unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand, by which also you are saved
      if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.
      4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
      5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
      6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
      7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
      8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
      9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet (suitable) to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
      Ephesians 2:8-9
      For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
      Revelation 1:5
      And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
      ROMANS 3
      24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
      25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
      Ephesians 1:7
      In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our Sins, according to the riches of his grace.
      For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      A person must TRUST THE BLOOD of Jesus Christ, which He shed at the cross, as sufficient to SAVE his SOUL. God will not accept our works. He will only accept those who receive his gift of love by faith. God is the justifier; we cannot justify ourselves. We must come to God and trust him to be saved.
      Rom. 5:1 Therefore, being justified by FAITH, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
      John 5:39
      Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
      PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS
      Rom. 5:9 Much more, then, being now justified by his BLOOD, we shall be SAVED from wrath through him.
      According to the Bible, salvation, or JUSTIFICATION, is by GRACE through FAITH in the BLOOD of Jesus Christ, like it says about in Romans 3:25! In other words, when your faith is solely in the Blood, you are SAVED!
      How about it? Won't you trust the blood of Jesus Christ today to save your soul from Eternity in the Lake of Fire?
      Philippians 2:6-11
      Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
      6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
      7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
      8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
      9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
      10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
      11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
      Jesus himself reminds us, “I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink
      Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:25-26).
      1 Peter 1
      Greeting
      1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
      To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:
      May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
      Born Again to a Living Hope
      3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
      5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
      7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith-more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
      8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,
      9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

      .....but a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing! And in the case of Kristi, this is sadly the case! She is someone who has enough knowledge to dissuade some people from Christianity (clearly her aim), but insufficient knowledge to present a convincing academic argument that doesn't fall apart under scrutiny!
      There are a lot of people like this on the internet and You Tube is literally full of them! Tragically this is a misuse of the internet, where people who are often gullible, lacking any depth of knowledge on virtually any subject, are being seriously misled by people who think they are knowledgeable and can inform everyone, but aren't in fact correctly representing the facts or truth.
      In Kirsti's case, she puts her arguments in such a way as to attract people that are satisfied with shallow reasoning and the lazy. Sadly the internet is very much a place where the lazy who would not do any serious book study, find their 'information' and any person with any grievance of any kind, will be found on the internet, trying to persuade others to their position and beliefs! Thus such people are easily taken in and 'de-converted' from whatever beliefs or ideas they previously had about anything!
      When it comes to the Bible, it is such a immense and quite difficult book to grasp and understand, that without years of study of it, you are unlikely to know very much about it! This means that when you try and make the shortcut to understanding the Bible and you choose someone on You Tube that appeals to you, you VERY likely to be being completely misled by them!!!

      @@Xinime Yeah... you might want to reread Exodus 21: 26-27 if you really want to consider those as "anti-slavery"
      Exodus 21: 16 isn't necessarily saying anything wrong about owning slaves, so not really an anti-slavery verse
      You could make a point for Deuteronomy 24: 7 though... if you ignore Leviticus 25: 42-46. So you might want to take a look at those verses
      Deuteronomy 23: 15 could work as an anti-slavery verse... but only if you ignore verses like (again) Leviticus 25: 42-46, 1 Peter 2: 18-20, and a couple of other verses
      For Psalms 118: 8-9, Psalms 146: 3, and Revelation 22: 9... worshipping God has nothing to do with condemning slavery, so you're not really making a point
      And as for Galatians 3: 28... wow... you have to take out major context in that verse to make it seem like it condemns slavery
      If you're going to say that the Bible is against slavery, then at least be truthful about the verses you use as evidence. So far, you just proved Kristi right (in more ways than one)

    Being raised a biblical fundamentalist and happening to join a pacifist sect/cult (the Amish) I was astounded and angry when speaking to one of the local Amish here, and the subject of biblical slavery was broached. The man, in response to my pointing out Leviticus 25:44-46 commented that as long as the master was kind to his slave, it was okay (meaning blessed of God). So I decided to up the ante and see what he thought of slavery in our time, or in “The New Covenant” under Christ. His response? The same. If a master is kind to his slave, it is okay. Now not all Amish would be so blunt and would hem and haw around the subject, but not this guy. Being a former devout Amish Christian myself, I would have never dreamed of supporting slavery so blatantly. I was seething with “righteous indignation” and cursed him to his face. My 3 times great grandfather owned around 5-6 slaves in Virginia in his time. It is a dark mark on my family heritage and I loathe to think of it. And here this Amish man, who is supposed to be representing the good news of salvation in Christ has the insanity to take such an abominable position. WTF?!

      God is not against foreigners working for others. But He is against foreign workers/slaves/servants being mistreated:
      *"Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner; remember that you were foreigners in Egypt. Do not mistreat any widow or orphan. If you do, I, the Lord, will answer them when they cry out to me for help, and I will become angry and kill you in war.* Your wives will become widows, and your children will be fatherless." --Exodus 22:21-24

      Nope, not even close. Your definitions are off.
      You construe "being forced to work" as being something needed to survive in society. Yet no one is "forced" to work for any particular place if they don't want to work there. What keeps them in jobs they are unhappy with is the circumstances and many who can quit do quit. There are no laws that will force them to work even if they are not happy with working in such a place, and they won't be hunted down and forcefully returned to their "owners" the way slaves are if they do quit. heck, the laws explicitly forbit such a thing.
      So yeah, modern day working circumstances? Not slavery, not even close. Just because you wish you could live without working doesn't mean that because you can't and have to work despite being unwilling means you are a slave, it simply means you're a snowflake who is salty about not getting their way.
      "But He is against foreign workers/slaves/servants being mistreated:"
      Leviticus 25:44-46: "‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."
      As for the treatment of slaves:
      "Exodus 20:21 "Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property."
      Exodus 20:26-27: "An owner who hits a male or female slave in the eye and destroys it must let the slave go free to compensate for the eye. And an owner who knocks out the tooth of a male or female slave must let the slave go free to compensate for the tooth.""
      "Has ANY slanderer of God ever told the whole truth about the matter, or do they continue to mislead?"

    At the start of this year I attended a church which had a bible study on one of the disciples letters (alas I cannot remember which one). The text to study had been edited so that the first verse, relating to slavery, was conveniently left out of verses to be discussed. The verses being studied just didn't make sense so imagine my surprise when I looked back and the context of the verses was slavery, slave owning and how Jesus life and resurrection didn't really affect this practise. This has led me to this and other youtube presentations; I would never have known about the "slave bible" and so much more in this space but for presentations such as yours and others. I am starting to really question the church, and their motives. I am not fully deconstructed as yet, but it is coming after some 60 years.

    The obvious reason the Bible consistently endorses and never forbids slavery is that the relationship for God’s people is them as His slaves. All He really cares about is absolute obedience, convincing them they are worthless without His grace and punishing them severely whenever the fail to properly worship and serve. Of course most Christian either can’t see this or become happy to be slaves as their purpose in life here and eternally.

    When Christians attempt to defend slavery in the Bible, I honestly stopped diving directly into verses. I ask them to look at the 1800 years of history around slavery & Christianity. Much harder for them to defend the actions of the church (both catholic & protestant) and the Christian leaders that operated the multitude of slave trades throughout that time period.

      If you read the Bible,the ancient isrealite were also slaves to the Egyptians,
      And there's two different types of system how people enslaved people from other nations.
      The word 'slavery' we used Today is much closer to the word 'captivity' used in the Bible.
      The slavery system according to the laws of Moses is more like a contract,where poor person works under rich master for certain years.

    Min 1:20 The Southern Baptist Church exists today since 1845, based on the Apostle Paul's several endorsements of humans owning other humans, such as at Ephesians 6:5:
    " Slaves be obedient to your masters with all respect...."
    Paul also commanded the return of a runaway owned human named Onesimus, to his owner in the book of Philemon, and the Christian scholars and leaders used this to support the Fugitive Slave Law.
    Jesus himself accepted the practice of owned humans being, somehow,
    " WORTHY " of stripes [ of the whip ] at Luke 12:47-48
    Neither Jesus nor Paul ever spoke against the Mosaic Law that allowed the purchase of other humans " from the nations around you.. ", as permanently inheritable property, at Leviticus 25-44-46.
    Most Christians don't even know about these scriptures.

    When you realize the glaring fact that Eve was an afterthought after Adam's creation as opposed to being a part of the original plan and blamed the fall of man on her is like she was created to be the "reason" for the fall. Well... yeah. No more reason to believe.

    Kristi - I have seen most of your TH-cam content and I think you are one of the most articulate “deconstructionist” content creators out there. You quite obviously research your topics in detail, and your history with Christianity gives you a good grounding in using the Bible to bolster your discussions.
    I’m sure you have a list of future episodes that you are researching, but I’d like to request that you add the Book of Job to your list. When I was first questioning my faith and my Christian upbringing as a child, the story of Job haunted me. One of my complaints about religion in general and Christianity in particular was how egregiously unfairly people were treated in order for God to make his points. Despite the kinda-sorta happy ending and the rather extreme lesson regarding having faith under any circumstances, I was haunted by the sheer unfairness and - let’s be honest - evil with which God treated Job. And the backstory seems to be that God did all of this simply because he was provoked by one of his own creations. Job was destroyed as the result of a wager, which says a lot about the emotional maturity of the Christian God. The story always made me think of God as petty and capricious, and of course serves - as do many Bible stories - as an effort to explain why bad things happen to good people. But God’s behavior in regards to Job is so appallingly bad, that even priests (I grew up Catholic) and ministers seem to prefer to sort of ignore the book. Anyway, if you’d consider it for an episode, I think it would make a good one. If you’ve already done a video on him, I apologize and I will look for it.

    • @nickg5010
      @nickg5010 ปีที่แล้ว

      It occurred to me that 'Job' was God's personal story in which case the unfairness emanates directly from Satan and you should be more sympathetic to Almighty God !

    • @cedarwaxwing3509
      @cedarwaxwing3509 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@nickg5010 Not so. I don’t know what you mean by “personal story,” but God essentially made a bet with the devil that Job would worship him even if he destroyed him. God was so insecure that he allowed a creature that he created and who he knew was evil to manipulate him. He allowed the horrible things done to Job, and kept upping the stakes apparently to keep playing one up with the devil. In the end, God proved a point to the devil, who probably left the conversation chuckling over the fact that he had put one over on God and managed to destroy a good man’s life all in a day’s work. God restored Job to prosperity, but of course didn’t replace the family that he allowed to be murdered. At the very least, God showed shocking indifference to the suffering of one of his people; at the worst, God allowed himself to be played and actively participated in the destruction of a good man. To pin this unfairness onto Satan is to ignore Satan’s creator’s role in this shameful farce.

    • @nickg5010
      @nickg5010 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I mean by 'personal story' is that God is Job in the story and that some evil came upon Him and that Satan was already well established in the world. Job is believed to be the first Bible story written, so my theory is that God resolved to confront the Devil who was already being worshipped. This led to the Bible being written and the emergence of YHWH. It's my own pet theory. @@cedarwaxwing3509

    Most apologists focus on slavery in ancient Israel / Judah. Paul and Jesus lived during Roman slavery, and neither denounced it. Paul, in fact, says this:
    "Bond servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward."
    After you read the following description of Roman slavery, re-read Paul's admonition above.
    “Being in a slave marriage did not protect a slave’s body from others. Slaves had no right to refuse their owners’ sexual advances. Seneca the Elder claimed that unchastity was a necessity for slaves (Controversies 4, preface 10), and Plutarch said that husbands honored their wives by using slaves for sex (Marriage Advice 16). Numerous stories, letters, and poetry from the Roman world indicate the expectation of the sexual availability of male and female slaves of all ages, both within private households and as public prostitutes, to their (male) owners.” - Ian Paul / Psephizo

      @@Xinime Exodus 21: 16 is about kidnapping, not slavery. Deut 24:7 literally says: "If a slave has taken refuge with you, do not hand them over to their master." It calls for humane treatment of a fugitive slave, but doesn't really question the very institution of slavery. Deut 26-27 literally says: "An owner who hits a male or female slave in the eye and destroys it must let the slave go free to compensate for the eye."
