    Nice review - that did look like a big meal - ideal for my appetite hehehe! The heater was amazing - bubbling away instantly. I’m gonna have to see if I can pick some Chinese rations up. Atb buddy, Simon.

      Hiya mate, yes.. the best ration heater I've used yet by far, I liked this menu as it had both rice and noodles, most of them are dbl rice. Cheers for watching! :)

    I just got one of these and had my expectations very low. That being said, it actually is a pretty decent meal. Food is, dare I say, not bad and actually pushes towards the "good" side of the scale. I added some soy sauce and sriracha which helps these chinese MREs like tabasco sauce helps the U.S. MREs haha.

      hey bro you prob know this already but steve hates these type 13's, wondering if the US got a crap batch?

  • @hallo84
    @hallo84 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Type 13 MRE was developed to contain 2 main courses because PLA front line troop involved in some of the recent major Chinese earthquake rescue missions complained that the MREs handed out was not really fulfilling after a full day of intense manual labor. So the decision was to put emphasis on providing more fulfilling food rather than serving a variety of tastes.

    The rice portion looked like it was set in a sort of gelatin. Overall, an agreeable menu. Good curry spices are expensive; perhaps that is why the flavor was subtle.

    • @KentSurvival
      @KentSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cheers James.. I was quite impressed with this one.. pretty filling meal(s) ill get another one at some point.. if I remember this was the best as the others all had 2 rice meals, the noodles were a bit of variety

      indeed, still my fav FRH, need to get more at some point. cheers for watching

    • @hallo84
      @hallo84 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, they are designed so that soldiers need less finessing with the food packets and can eat quickly. The last earthquake rescue mission in Wenchuan China had front line troop working 48+hours with no time to eat. So MREs are now designed to eat quickly and have large portions of main entree. Also ease of use is very important to first responders who do not have clean water to wash muddy hands.

    You could possible use 1 frh for both meals, eat as much you can, then secure the top with sg. Use the second one to reheat both.
    Or boil/warm water and put the bags in there to warm them up again. How much calorie was in each? I could'n eat both for sure.

    I'm intrigued by the heating system....you just add water and it boils? Like making "fire" with water?...The meal looks alright: it seems like the kind of food you have on Chinese domestic flights or the high-speed trains (the latter generally a bit tastier). Thank you for posting this.

    • @freesxsoccer
      @freesxsoccer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frederico Penteado I think there’s some kind of chemicals in the FRH heating element that reacts with the water in an exothermic reaction

    So that’s why my dogs were going nuts in the woods! ;) I have to try one of those Chinese packs. Where did you find it? I wasn’t impressed with the MRE pack. The Uk pack No.19 that I received this morning is okay, except for too many sugary drinks. All good fun :)

    One would have thought that a chinese MRE would have chopsticks

    • @KentSurvival
      @KentSurvival  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good Point

    • @wx7742
      @wx7742 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Chopsticks are meant for transfering food from a bowl or a plate (basically containers with a wide opening) to your mouth
      But the MRE is designed to be eaten in the wild, where you don't have a tray like in this video
      So chopsticks won't be that handy if you want to eat from the original plastic bag (very tight opening) of the MRE

      no, so far, so good. I assume making sure troops are in top health would be a top priority so they are very well packed.... that said, I have a 30 yr old dehydrated ration that im going to try soon :/ haha

    • @captainyoni

      It`s probably related to the lack of the usual stuff that`s in the accessory pack that most american and european MREs have. Some dessert option would have been nice but this looks pretty straight forward in terms of getting your belly filled so it`s really not that bad.
