    Thoughts on the Stock RA Block compared to your Stage 1/2 block? For the price point of around $1900 for the RA and the amount of power people are making with them its hard to beat for price for power.

    I was watching a video by ThatDudeInBlue and a tech at Offtheline Performance said that once you separate the case halves you need a special machine and need to line hone it and that only like 3 shops in the county have (is that the machine at 8:02?), but you guys only use it to straighten the bearing holes on stage 4, so is it necessary to line hone it anytime you separate the block? Or are you guys able to pick and choose from all the bearings you have to find ones that match perfectly?
    I think I have a IAG assembled block in my car since 2012 (did you guys make a deal with Import Image Racing around then that allowed them to sell your stages of blocks under their name, but I pretty sure I remember they accredited you guys with doing all the work on the block.)

      Hi, I live in CA as well. Just make sure your compression ratio is going to be very close to your original block and head set up. forged or not, so long as the stock tune can run the fueling correctly for the brief period during smog, you should be capable of passing without issue. Granted your emissions devices are all installed and functional.
      for example, a 10:1 compression engine on the stock map would likely be a huge no-go and be impossible to pass smog as a result.

      @@sweatyben1550 Hi, I have two WRX STI 2.5, one with stage 2.5, and one with iag longblock 900, if you use a standard thickness gasket (stage 2.5) the compression ratio remains the same as the standard EJ25, so by mapping the ECU correctly you have no problem, you could also map the 3 maps in a different way, in order to pass the emission control with the first map. If you just want to make the EJ25 engine better strong, you have two options: 1 Buy new pistons and connecting rods and keep the power low, or take for example a 2.5 iag stage, using the standard gasket, and a standard head, then you will have power in safety and no problem with emissions. If you need it, I have 2 WRX STI with IAG engines. A greeting

    Great video, but what is the point of forging your internals on a semi closed block, when the cylinder wall flexes under heat cycles and boost pressure. Which causes head gasket failure, to say you rate the semi closed deck at 500hp is really pushing it. Here in the uk, all good engine builders highly recommend close decking at 400hp. Some say even at stock power it should be closed decked due to the movement on the cylinder wall. Forging your engine won't stop head gasket failure. Interesting video though 👍

    • @kujinsan26

      He's talking 500BhP which is like 330-350whp. If your builder is saying anything past 400 he means WHP needs a closed deck. I hear a lot of RAs are making past 400whp on stock block but personally for peace of mind I would go closed deck after 400 WHP

    Are there long-term downsides to going closed-deck? I want a super reliable 400-500whp setup (generally on the 400 end of the spectrum), but am uncertain if the closed decks have inherent cooling issues or are prone to excessive wear.

    • @theiagchannel
      @theiagchannel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are no cooling issues with the closed deck process. Since the insert is less than an inch thick and has holes which match the head gasket, it still allows full flow of coolant. The strength of closed deck system makes it ideal for long term reliability, with no downsides.
