Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US. Recorded Nov. 2019
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

There’s no way a second grader knows about their sexuality, someone is putting that garbage in their head.
Thats exactly what i thought. But suddenly when its about homosexuality or choosing your sex, toddlers know better than educated doctors. Its just ridiculous.
@@Kimkong2 Hi Fred, I don't know about toddlers (we refer to 3-4 year olds as toddlers here in the UK) a 2nd grader is a 7-8 year old, I think that's still a bit to early for a child to comprehend their sexuality I think. I have a niece who's now 15, her parents always tried to make her as feminine as they could, but she seemed to rebel against it. Aged about 9-10 we would give her money on her birthday to spend on whatever she wanted, when we took her to the Mall to spend her money, she went straight to the boys section and bought toy guns, it would always frustrate us that she wasn't into girlie things. To cut a long story short, she now considers herself transgender/lesbian and seems happy with her sexuality. But we kind of knew from an early age that thier was an issue. None of us love her any less, if she's happy, we're happy for her.
I think Cliffe kind of skipped what that girl was asking in all honesty .. how does God view gays? ..it's clear in the Old Testament that God finds it an abomination and they should be killed. Yet society has accepted homosexuality in virtually all western countries. Many Christians still view homosexuality as a sinful action. What is the Christian answer to the problem of homosexuality?, even the Pope has come out to say they should be accepted and not condemned. Our morals are not set in stone, and we do change, I myself viewed it as wrong many decades ago, but that was based on my Christian upbringing.

Well my whole point was it's ironic how kids are considered unable to give consent up until 16 and 18 in some countries but are suddenly wise when it comes to choosing their gender , more wise than doctors and psychologists. Here is where me and you fundamentally disagree Tom, you value happiness more than you value what's right or wrong. I on the other hand know that what makes you happy is not always a good standard of judging what is right or wrong . There are things that would make me happy but i myslef know they are wrong. This coupled with the statement 'as long as it doesn't hurt anyone' are some of the most misleading standards of what one ought or ought not do in life. It's also interesting that you say "we knew something was WRONG" i wonder why you chose wrong to describe that situation. Might have been a slip of the tongue, or it might be that you and i can at least acknowledge that it is not right to want to change your whole gender because you liked guns when you were a little girl.
Cliff did not skip anything. It is you that likes to ignore context. The lady did not ask a yes or no question but you demand one and you demand it without explanation. Even when you quote the bible, you only single them out while the truth is the bible and even Cliff mentioned we ALL are going to die because of our sins. The reason it is pointed out is because people seem to believe it is not a big deal what sex you are and who you sleep with. It really pisses me of because people say it doesnt matter and its not a big deal yet familys and relationships are being destroyed because of sexual immorality. Its such a hypocritical view to have. Of course homosexuality is a sinful action, same way fornication is. God made it clear that its not about 'happiness' or just consent .
Also frankly, you and i know you could care less what the pope or othe christians think, you and i know the standard is Jesus and the word. No man superceeds this standard. This is why we call such people hypocrites. There is no such thing as a christian answer , the answer to all sin is Jesus. He is the one and only standard. Our morals ARE set in stone. You just have an issue of which stone they are set in, Jesus says He is the cornerstone. Sure you reject that , but you would be a fool to think morals are purely subjective. Homosexuality is wrong, even from a secular point of view you can make an argument against it. Now i did not say we should kill all homosexuals or that it does not make them 'happy' do perform sexual acts. I just said it is not right from a moral standpoint.

@@Kimkong2 Thanks for that Fred. It's interesting we view something like homosexuality from different ends of the spectrum . If you read what I said about my niece, i didn't say "we knew something was wrong" , I said we knew there was an issue, in that she didn't seem to enjoy being girlie and feminine, in no way did I mean her sexuality was wrong. Had I still been a Christian many decades ago and this situation occurred then I may well have viewed it as 'wrong' .. but that's based on Biblical teaching and I don't think the Bible is the be all and end all when it comes to moral behavior. You can't force someone to be what they're not. I remember Elton John getting married to a woman called Renate in the mid 80's, he tried to conform to what society expected of him, but he knew he was living a lie, he said it was the unhappiest time of his life. He's now married to someone he truly loves and they are very happy. They are even raising 2 kids, that seems perfectly acceptable to me. Homosexuality is rife in the natural world Fred, if you look into it, it's a massive part of nature. I'm absolutely certain it's not a bad thing. Do you think things were better when homosexuality was illegal in many western countries and people could be sent to prison?

@@bonnie43uk I don’t believe a 2nd grader is a consenting adult, sorry for chiming in. I don’t know if transgender is always the same thing as homosexuality either. My opinion if you will allow me to share... 1 why is homosexuality wrong? Because it goes against God’s original design and is a corruption of it. 2 why is transgender wrong? Same thing it goes against how God originally designed us as male and female for a purpose. 3 I personally don’t believe God looks at it the same way we do... I certainly can’t speak for God but I don’t think he really cares like homophobic people he made us all gay straight male female, but he doesn’t like the corruption of his original design. But so is people who cheat in relationship or marriage and that is not less of a sin. So is the person who has a problem with porn or any of these abuses of our body and the original design... so we ought to be really careful about the stones we cast. When I was young I thought homosexuality was learned and not born into the person... my experience and view has changed because I grew up with people who were just different and they were not just trying to be cool or try edgy things. Then I think about 🤔 what about all the stuff against us? What about all the chemicals we have been attacked with that messes with our natural design? What about all the programming in every form of tv, entertainment and media that is constantly brainwashing people against God’s natural ways?

But I wanted to add, what if someone is only gay or trans because of chemicals or programming? That isn’t entirely their fault especially if their body and dna have been altered by wicked things in the earth resulting from those who turned from the all good God. Circumstances matter.

Even some historical moments we studied in school were not all 100% as later events even for our country has changed. Biblical times has valid evidence, which I have faith in just as your science takes faith as you too know it not 100%.

With all respect, that question is unintelligible because it commits a category error. The concepts of truth and falsity apply to propositions and beliefs, not values and people. Imagine someone responds to Cliff's question by saying, "I'm living for my children". The second part of the question would then ask "what is the evidence that your children are true?". But what does that even mean? It doesn't make any sense to say that a person is true or false, because a person isn't a proposition or belief. Now imagine someone responds to Cliff's question by saying "I'm living for the enjoyment I get from life". The second part of Cliff's question would then ask "what is the evidence that the enjoyment you get from life is true?". But what would it even mean to say that enjoyment is true or false? Again that's just incoherent.

I have to disagree with Cliffe when he says that Atheism is an exclusive claim that there is no God. As an atheist, I'm not claiming outright "there is no God". I'm simply saying I lack belief in God. Lets face it, he doesn't exist in any tangible form, he is invisible. He evades the 5 human senses. However, I'm sure he exists in the minds of Christians, in the same way a Hindu or Muslim totally believes their Gods exist.

God is not invisible although it might look like He is, since He acts everywhere right from His throne. Jesus said "Nobody has seen God". But Moses wanted to see God when Moses was with God on that mountain, but God said to Moses “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live". - God is extremely powerful and emits an extreme amount of energy from His Being. God is Light. And even right infront of His throne there are beings with 6 wings covering their faces with 2 wings and 2 wings covering their feet and with 2 flying. No creature could behold the blast of His power. That's why most of the time He reaveals Himself to us through His Holy Spirit which is invisible. And 2000 years ago He came down among humans as a man in the same flesh as ours in Jesus Christ; since Jesus is the image of the invisible God, Jesus is the perfect illustration of what God would be among us.

I'm sorry Cliffe but I disagree. Deuteronomy 4:29 is speaking to the future repentant Jewish nation not individuals. Roman's 3:11 says "No one understands, no one seeks after God". Hypothetically, if an individual were to seek God with all their heart then God would reveal himself. However, the human heart is not able to draw near to God. That's why John 6:44 says "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him".
Gods not going to rip anyone off …. Christ is a perfect judge … we can trust Jesus … his level of sacrifice qualifies him as trustworthy…his authority is allied with perfect wisdom …

Why does Cliff say that he doesn't know how God is going to judge those who never heard about Christ when John 3:18 tells us that whoever doesn't believe stands condemned already since he has not believed in the name of God's one and only son? Hearing about Christ is a necessary precondition for believing in Christ, which means that those who never heard of Christ would have to be included in the set of people don't believe in God's one and only son. If those who never heard of Christ are not necessarily condemned, why does't John 3:18 specify that it's only talking about a subset of non-believers? Wouldn't that be kind of important to mention? Isn't it misleading to say that whoever doesn't believe stands condemned, when plenty of people don't believe and also don't stand condemned?
Because in the old t they knew the name Jehova or God, / Father, they and even right now so have not known Christ, you can not choose what you do not know.
@@godislove363 By "they" are you talking about EVERYONE on earth who lived during the time of the old testament? Do you think they ALL people on earth knew the name Jehovah, or did only some of them know the name Jehovah? Even if they did all know God's name I don't see how that's relevant to what I asked because John 3:18 doesn't say that anyone who does not know the name Jehovah stands condemned, it says anyone who does not believe in God's one and only son stands condemned. That would include all the people in the time of the old testament who knew the name Jehovah but had no idea that Jehovah had a son or that his plan was to send his son in the future to die for the sins of humanity.
@@chad969 I am confused why you are confused. Anyone of the OT whom knew of God and denied Him or turned from as we can Christ or the Holy Spirit, they are lost. If however under the light they had and kept living under God's Grace they would be saved. Just as the Jews did not bring the message to the gentiles etc. They selfishly wanted to keep it for themselves till Christ came and we are grafted into the vine(Christ's Family). We called to believe upon Him with freewill. There are even some in today's time whom died in Grace with what light they had.

My original question wasn't even about people who lived before the time of Christ, it was about people living in the post-christ era. So none of this is particularly relevant. If someone living TODAY in china dies without hearing about Christ, what happens to him according to John 3:18?

I can simply say this, I grew up in a world where PARENTS were responsible for raising their children not society... Hello, I'm going to leave a copy and paste type message on the other videos as well. As of today except for one particular video with one particular thread I will no longer be on here I tried to stay off a couple weeks ago but I felt compelled to continue to try that no longer is true. It is obvious to me no one on here relevant to the discussions are truly interested in discussing any matters what are the scientific religious philosophical psychological or otherwise. I believe you should have been more honest and direct when it came to the trans gender question. You were walking on egg shells trying not to offend anyone. The Bible is very clear on this topic. It’s not our jobs to condemn but it’s also not our job to condone sin.
Cliff doesn't bring up about the saved Christian being a homosexual....
So if Cliff believes in OSAS he's not demonstrating it. While we are saved we will continue to sin because once we are saved it doesn't make us perfect. That's why we need Jesus daily.
So yes, a homosexual who repented and got saved can ultimately go back to that horrible sin and still go to heaven. But that won't come without conviction, the homosexual won't feel the same if they're truly saved. God will convict them. God will make them pay and it'll be up to the person to make the difference.

Here's what's interesting. Every agnogtic and atheist think it is an intellectual problem. And when you hear them, they are absolutely smart people. And what they end up doing is beign a brilliant fool against Christianity.

You cannot lose your salvation. John 1:12 those who receive Jesus become the sons of God. Galatians 4:9 sons of God are known of God. Matthew 7:23 Jesus says I NEVER knew you. They were never saved in the first place those people he's talking about.
