      Easy answer
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.” So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense. But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength. Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God. God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord .”

Cliffe Knechtle on a College Campus explaining the difference between science and design.
There once was a family of mice. They lived in a piano. They enjoyed the music that came from the Great Piano Player. But one day one of the little mice got really brave and he climbed up into the piano and to his amazement he found out that the music does not come from the piano player, it comes from wires that reverberate back and forth.
Then the little mouse returned to his family and said “Guess what guys? There is no great piano player. I’ll tell you where the music comes from. It comes from wires that reverberate back-and-forth.” So the family of mice no longer believed in a piano player. They had a totally mechanistic understanding of their Universe. Wires reverberating producing music.
Until one day another little mouse got even braver. And he climbed up even further into the bowels of the piano. And he was amazed when he found that the music does not come from the wires. It comes from the hammers that strikes the wires. That’s what produces the music. Well, the little mouse returned to his family of mice and they re did their scientific theories. They re did their mechanistic understanding of their Kosmos. But they still enjoyed the music that came from the piano player.
Science is a wonderful, very valuable and precious study of process. It’s good and it comes right out of a Biblical worldview: a reasonable God created an orderly world, and gave us rational minds that we can unlock the secrets of the Universe. As Einstein said it,
“I want to understand how the Creator did it.”
So science is great, but the question still remains, is it not more reasonable to believe in that there is an intelligent mind beyond behind the process, and I think the answer is obviously yes. You see design has a designer, and if you push it back far enough you meet a designer. Now Jesus Christ claimed to be revealing this Designer in human terms, in a way that you and I, with our limited finite minds can begin to understand.

The reason so many people of this generation reject the belief of Jesus stems from men loving darkness more than light. They love their sin, so if they admit Jesus is truth, they are confronted with needing to repent. Our conscience testifies to the truth of Jesus, people know deep inside Jesus is truth. That is why I don't believe anyone who claims to be atheist. God bless you Cliff, keep fighting the good fight.

Look up “Rebuilding the man Bond”, it’ll give you a new perspective that most so called “Christians” who Bible Thumps will never teach because most likely they represent more of the Pharisees than what Jesus really teaches. In the end, our thoughts causes us to do wrong, become depress etc. because our heart has a sin nature, to change that we have to return to the father through Christ by the renewing of the heart and having the father’s identity. Everyone who argues “intellectually” is stuck in the mind and the loop of “suffering”, the fruit of knowledge is the cardinal mind of the world. As to why Jesus said “become like little children to enter the kingdom of God” whom are Adam and Eve before the fruit.

@@Malhaloc "Because Allah is the greatest deceiver according to the Quran. Why would I have faith in someone who takes pride in their ability to lie to people?"
That's a good question. Why would you believe in a god who deceives people?
And the Lord said, 'Who will entice Ahab so that he will go up and fall in Ramoth-Gilead?' One said in this manner and another one said in that manner.
And a certain spirit came forth and stood before the Lord and said, 'I will entice him,' and the Lord said to him 'How?'
And he said, 'I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And He said, 'You will entice and you will prevail. Go forth and do so.'
Book of 1 Kings, chapter 22. God sanctions this spirit's intention of deceiving Ahab by suggesting lies to his diviners. God says: "Sure, go ahead."
      John 7:8
Jesus (supposedly) said: "You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, for My time has not yet been fulfilled."
      John 7:13
However, when His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He also went up..
Wouldn't that constitute a lie? "You guys go, I don't feel like coming, I'ma stay here, have fun!" - Goes anyway. Want another one?
In Genesis 12 Abraham is traveling to Egypt, and he says this to Sarah:
"Behold now I know that you are a woman of fair appearance, and it will come to pass when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife!' And they will slay me and let you live. Please say that you are my sister, in order that it go well with me because of you, and that my soul may live because of you."
Later on: And Pharaoh summoned Abram, and he said, "What is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to myself for a wife? And now, here is your wife; take her and go."
So if you have a problem with lying, then from the Bible, we have a prophet of God telling his wife to lie, Jesus himself lying, and the God of the Old Testament giving a lying spirit the green light. So what about the Qur'an? Does God in the Qur'an boast about being the best of those who deceive?
No. The word used in the verses you're referring to is "planning" and "planners", and it does not mean "deceiver". It can acquire the meaning of "plotting" if the context allows for it. So if you're planning something with bad intentions, then we would translate that Arabic to mean "plotting", but if the intention is good, then you just render it as "planning". What the Qur'an is saying that the enemies of prophets plotted against the prophets, but God is the best of those who plan, and that's referring to divine predestination. In other words, while these wicked people plotted against God's prophets, God had already predestined that they would fail in their attempts to kill those prophets. Hence; God is the best of planners. You need to read what it's saying. If we translate that word to mean "deceive", then the same word is used when describing what the enemies of the prophets were doing. So were they trying to deceive those prophets? No, they were making plans to get them killed. They weren't trying to trick them, they wanted to murder them.

The word of God convicts people to change. All humans dislike change because for God’s word and God’s sense to get to us, it must first expose us to ourselves. How wrong we’ve been. It is convinient for us to deny this, because the moment we open our minds and accept it as truth, we will have to deal with our pride that told us otherwise, deal with change, deal with people. Not to mention these old thoughts that benefit the flesh. God causes a change in us, it changes the heart but us humans, we dislike change so much we rather be comfortably stubborn and stagnant in our way of thinking, in our way of life. The word of God gives intellectual freedom!

We stop believing in written history because there were no photographs beyond a certain time in the past?!
She correctly states that there are multiple disciplines that fall under the umbrella of science and that's fine. One of those is the Textual Criticism methods which historians use and philosophers (in this case, of theology) comment on, that help to verify how believable a historical account (not the actual material the text is written on but the text itself) really is.
The Bible has gone through this process - very successfully - several times over. Just read the work of Gary Habermass, William Lane Craig, Mike Licona and Bart Ehrman - the last being an atheist) and more. They will ALL tell you the same thing about the Bible.

To have dominion over the earth and rule over everything.
Then we fail to obey God one rule to maintain our God-like ability.
Not to mix the good and the bad as it gonna cause chaos as knows the consequences of it is better for him to leave that part to himself to handle it!
But no! we break the law and when the consequence of our actions come about, we blame God and deny him at the same time other than ourselves.
We call that in real life and moment a complete ignorant of what we are doing.

My late father has always told us that the accuser of God cannot stand the fact that his/our maker says, let us make man in our image, like and character, let alone putting his hands on the dirt and breath his breath to our nostrils, to imagine the covetous emotion running through the veins of those were just created by words, to raise the question why we were created in that special way and given a kingdom to govern as God?
Needless to say, it must have been hard to swallow, for some!
It must have been why Jesus meant that the spirit in us is superior to anything existing in the universe for Gods breath was directly breathed at us rather than say so!
I always come back to that conclusion when battling with the question of why God bothered with our filthy selfishness as my earthly father analysed God's words.
It breaks my soul when I see the situation through God's eyes what Lucifer has become due to self brightness and hunger for his father's position to rule!
And we wanted to be God when we were created to be God as him and we believe the accuser that there is more!
And the only way for our Father to redeem us to our glory to reunite us all is for him through Jesus to put on the real fallen flesh so we can devour, whipped, spat upon and hung up on the tree to break our heart to see the truth that all of us is part of him as Jesus Christ and the spirit!
And only our Unity as God can defeat the accusers powerful attributes!

It's a perfect situation for the accuser and his demons to infuse their lethal dosages of deceptions to blind as many souls of God from him.
But, we must be careful that God created us all!
And the answer is only the spirit of God can defeat both the spiritual and worldly entities.
As simple it may sound, it's very complicated for our fallen flesh to chart out Gods means for us to solve the puzzles due to our connections to transgressions.
With our fallen nature, God has only given Jesus as a beacon for us to understand the Godly power of choice he has given to us as a token of his grace and constant love for his special creation "human"!
With that said, I guess we must pray for our enemies and see them through, God's spirits to grasp the way he operates in every situation rather than relying on ourselves...
I'd come to a conclusion observing my God-fearing earthly father in action. Constantly searching for God's way to solve the problems.
Always everything deduced to love in his whole life.
My old man has diverted thousands of souls to God with what we called a random act of compassion.
Mowing the Nabours lawns, helping a friend in shortage and need. Offering food to the poor, donating the most treasured goods that we don't need, hugging a stranger when seems down around him, visiting the hospital when he has spare time, listening to the lost soul's complaints, and praying for the sins of the whole world to be forgiven in a daily basis!
I believe if only I could understand 2% of how my old man loves God with all he has, I could be a better-fallen man and grow from there closer to God.
Our mother often on the verge of denying God the way my old man loves God.
He always pulled out this line that sends a chill down our spines including our mother:
Be careful with what you treasured in your hearts as there no place there for garbage, but God's spirit to dwell on and operate for the goodness of love!
The garbage dumpster is where the garbage belongs!🤭
Anyways, I had come to understand that I have been filling my heart with garbages of this material world with little space for God spirit to work with me.
For me, it's a daily internal conflict to separate from myself and dwell with the spirit of God to direct me hence my comments it's very complicated to see both God's grace meantime sarcophagus by the chaotic nature of the Devil in us!
And conjecture, is a big part of our hypothetical chaotic life!
Nice talking to your Lee. May God bless you in all that you do!

Guy on the bike: The "God did it" rhetoric is getting tired and old. Atheists really need to move on from this. NO ONE is saying that we stop doing science or searching for the truth, just because we perceive of a powerful entity exists that could reasonably well be responsible for the order we see in the universe.
We can still explore the magnificence of this universe and push back the boundaries of our knowledge, with the full confidence that the very reason why it is discoverable is because it does follow a design order and we humans have the same (albeit infinitely reduced) faculty as it's designer.
So gravity can still be measured in a distant galaxy, if we ever get there, in the same way as we measure/detect/monitor it in our solar system. That's consistency - that's design.
Science can carry on telling us HOW and religion can carry on telling us WHY.

I think Mr Cliffe should have stressed that fact that the eye-witnesses were believers who have their beliefs firmly established when they saw the risen Christ with their very eyes. These believers were purposefully allowed the privilege of witnessing the resurrection so that they were willing to die for what they know to be the truth. We have read from the Gospels that the disciples were in fact a cowardly bunch, scattering when their master was captured. But that all changed after they witnessed the resurrection event, with even the "doubting Thomas" getting a feel of Jesus's wounds. They became heroic martyrs for a sure thing. Nobody, even the tightest of conspirators, would die in vain for a lie. That is powerful evidence for the truth of the resurrection.

@@theoskeptomai2535 Jesus rising from the dead as it is written is definitely a claim i understand that, i get that it isn't evidence.
what i do consider evidence for this claim is how this phenomena in history affected the way the disciples of Jesus especially saul of tarsus (later through his radical conversion) became Paul...how their lives were forever changed by something they SAW, not something they believed but by what they SAW. dying for something you know you saw, verses something you believe in is totally and completely different. dying for something you believe in...someone may still have a few little or big doubts in their mind about why they belive what they believe when they have to be willing to DIE for that belief. but dieing for what you know you saw, and you confirm that it isnt just a blurred vision or something is far different.
there is quite literally no question in your mind that what you saw and what you felt is FREAKING real, and true. and that is exactly what the disciples did and went through, including paul.
they died for what they saw, (a risen Jesus christ) and they were willing to go through the hardest trails of torture for what they saw and also believed. there isn't single person in the world...PAST, PRESENT, or future who would be willing to die for something that they themselves knew to be a lie.
there is a lot more, than just this. but this is the idea of why i know Jesus rose from the dead, I don't just believe it...I KNOW HE DID. because if Jesus didn't rise from the dead, then Jesus lied about who he was and his revolution would have stayed dead with him. so many people think his teaching and whatever else are just ideas that could survive even if Jesus died and stayed dead, but no they can't. Jesus is not the founder of a religion, he is the promise of the new covenant with God that He fullfilled

Nobody has forgotten that because it is entirely foolish. Evolution, including biological evolution is a fact.
"Evolution is still a theory and not a scientific fact."
Evolution is a process, not a theory. Evolution is simply the process of change over time. Each and every current phenomenon is in a process of change at any given moment.
And this process of evolution includes biological life forms. Biological evolution is a thoroughly established, undeniable fact. And the explanation that best explains the diversity of lifeforms and the process of speciation, agreed upon by the entire biological society, comes about by means of natural selection.
I can tell by your idiotic statement (That is why it is called the "theory of evolution") that you have no idea the meaning of 'Theory' as used within the scientific societies. Again, you have demonstrated your idiocy, for you cannot comprehend that the use of the term is not the one of common vernacular to mean a hypothesis, conjecture, or speculative guess. 'Theory' in science is the most criticized level of tested validity. Only the most *_proven facts,_* those able to survive the hardest scrutiny, are able to rise to the level of a theorem. Only a few dozen explanations have made it to this highest level of "Theory".
Here is a quote from the American Association for the Advancement of Science:
_A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment. Such fact-supported theories are not "guesses" but reliable accounts of the real world. The theory of biological evolution is more than "just a theory". It is as factual an explanation of the universe as the atomic theory of matter or the germ theory of disease. Our understanding of gravity is still a work in progress. But the phenomenon of gravity, like evolution, is an accepted fact._
So the next time you hear the *Theory of Evolution* you can be _assured_ that all data, records, and samples attest to the undeniable *_fact_* of evolution and that the theorem (By the Means of Natural Selection) is the current best explanation agreed to by the scientific community.

    • @chimpanzeethat3802
      @chimpanzeethat3802 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You just made the single most common mistake regarding scientific terminology. This will take me some time to type out so please do me the honour of at least reading it.
A scientific theory is not the same as a theory in the colloquial sense of the word. What you might call a theory in everyday language is closer to a hypothesis in scientific terms.
If something has been demonstrated to be factual then it stops being a hypothesis and is elevated to the level of a theory. Theory is the highest level that something can attain in science, even higher than a scientific law.
Theory in science means the field of study. It's taken from the Greek word meaning to view something from the highest or most powerful position.
Nothing gets elevated from a hypothesis to a theory unless it is a fact. A scientific theory is the explanation for a particular subject that has already been demonstrated to be true, and has been repeatedly confirmed through observations and experiments.
The subject matter of a scientific theory is fact, the scientific theory explains why. For example:
Gravity is a fact. The Theory of Gravity explains why gravity is a fact.
Germs are a fact. The Germ Theory of Disease explains why.
Tides are a fact. The Theory of Tides explains why.
A scientific theory doesn't suddenly stop being a theory and become fact, because all scientific theories are already built on a body of facts.
And a scientific theory doesn't suddenly stop being a theory and become a scientific law, because all scientific theories already include laws. There are 4 laws of gravity, for example, and they're part of the Theory of Gravity.
It doesn't even make sense to reject a scientific theory. It's like saying that you don't believe in atoms because Atomic Theory is "just a theory".

The kid on the bike at about 10 minutes makes a great point that science isn't saying it has all the answers, it's a slow process of discovery, eg: it would appear that this universe had a beginning around 13.8 billion years ago. Rather than say "God created everything" Science is simply finding out what is true, and what is not true. People are free to believe whatever they wish, but, science seems to have a pretty good track record. And when it does get something wrong, it's open to being amended and corrected. Science adjusts its view on what is observed, faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved.

Where do we have that same number of eye witnesses confirming the details of the alien encounter? If there is such a case, especially if it were in a country like N. Korea (a country that harms people for standing out in such a way), there would be a reason to say the experience is credible. It would then be another mater to interpret that corroborated testimony and determine if what came out of that vehicle really was an extra terrestrial organism and if the vehicle really is an interstellar vessel. This girl, Ellen is unaware of the circumstances of how the resurrection and the following events occurred.
The apostles were aware of Christ because Christ made them aware. He appeared to them. He touched them, they touched Him. He ate food. He travelled with them. He continually asked them about the events and revealed himself as the Christ.
They hid themselves from the Romans and the Jewish theocracy.
They did not try to call attention to the risen Christ.
When the truth got out, they were questioned and gave witness.
They were threatened and told they could renounce their faith or be put to death.
They did not go offer to die for the testimony.
They were so happy and amazed by the truth that they shared it with others.
That was their so called crime.
One by one they were killed for it. So were the other witnesses.
James was thrown off the pinnacle of the temple building. The highest height.
When he landed below, he wasn't dead.
So they beat him to death for his testimony.
He did not go offer his testimony to the enemies of Christ but spoke it openly.
It was a truth he saw with his own eyes and felt with his own hands.
His brother from the same mother had died on the cross and returned to this life just as He said He would and in fulfillment of the scriptures these people all knew.
James was canonized a "Saint" by the churches criteria at a later date. He was martyred for the truth.
    That's just one example.

The truth in spirit flows eternally forward the body lies to the spirit and it flows eternally reverse/revere from truth, those who are stuck in the material plain will live Revelation and those who follow after the spirit find truth, what Jesus did was healed the spirit and the body. Those who seek the end in Revelations will find it and those who seek the truth in the beginning will find the veil leaving their eyes. Judgement comes to only those who judge, you have your will of creation upon all creation so judge not less ye be, judged yourself. How hard is it to say sorry and sin no more, all is forgiven, death/darkness took possession of all word, it is only his fault. Everything I've learned, I have learned on my own. I have never read the Bible till after I had my dreams with Jesus, he himself explained things to me. I explained everything in my book. Everyone has all word of creation upon them, each word has their own cell of aura, it is a firmament as this Galactic cell is the body of Christ, it has an aura and you are a word of creation within the body of Christ, you live the body of Christ and he has already died for your sins, that has enabled him as The Lord of Hosts. Within the handshake of all things, Jesus was the Body, he lived the experience of the spirit of the most high and the will of the father is the will within the body of Christ he gets to live the body of Christ with no powers, only faith, he will only present himself by the word and he stands firm with all the word. Genesis, Moses is not leading us into the book of word he is leading us out, back to the beginning. (Example) God placed a firmament between all the word and us as word have been placed within a six feet firmament caused by the corona-tion/crown lasted a year. Next is the (word was God) goes on all this year. Next year the word will start understanding these things and it will be, the (word was with God.) Next year after the word will have their full understanding of these things and God will be one with (the Word) as they are the bride to the body of Messiah, then Jesus by will, have ascended to the father, Jesus is proof that even death will experience life. (Bible says, God comes by the truth of your heart is your crown)means/corona, it is also your body and your Galactic cell upon Omega. We are the word of God and our actions are the signs of word, welcome to the corona/tion. Each sentence in the Bible is a sentence from order and each sentence is a year sentence as (1 in the beginning was the word) and (2 the word was with God) and (3 the word was God) (4 and the corona/crown has placed us as word six feet of firmament from each other.) Truth of word flows eternally forward as the distortion of truth is number, numb/cold power numb/ber. The multitudes are being taken back from death/darkness as legion is many, took everything from all the word. The light in the darkness is this grain of earth within this universal body and it is protecting all of life as you have a Galactic cell out there and this Galactic cell we are in right now is the body of Christ, you live the body of Christ within Omega as you have all word/will of creation upon you, within each cell is a throne, for all word of creation, you have your will/word of creation upon equal me/a/sure, you are a universal body, when this is over you will be shown all your action and consequence upon your Galactic realm and when trust is earnt you will claim your universal body again, within this multiverse. (universe/unity of verse/unity of word. I wrote a book it is all over the world, the book is called, The last shall be the first and the first shall be the last by Joseph Darrell Walker. If you know the Bible then you will know everything. Voices in head are not mental, think positive and legion as he is many will leave. Genesis/Moses isn't leading us into the darkness, he is walking us out of it, so read 4,3,2,1, and it will make better sense. All things fall, back to GOD, Isaiah 11;12. The more you wake people up, by that measure has woke up unto you so speak truth to the fullest and you will find faith walking within you. whizbuzzbooks.com/the-last-shall-be-the-first-and-the-first-shall-be-the-last-joseph-darrell-walker/ ;iug

So I’m a Christian but the girl is actually right… being a martyr is not proof… While I believe in the historic account of Jesus and I think that is the important part that proves the life of Jesus, just being a martyr doesn’t make it true… there’s been religious like cults where people die for what they believe that’s missing historical evidence that their god or leader was divine and yet if you just looked at their death as proof you’d have to say they were divine just bc people died for their belief… I know I might not have explained perfect but I actually agree with the first girl and I think Cliffe made a pretty bad argument though I agree with most everything else

So what follows would be my death or imprisonment. People aren't willing to die for a lie and they were also not willing to lie to live if they truly saw something!

The New Age thinker are swayed towards Atheism not because they are really convinced by Atheist theories, but rather, it is because it fits their desires to be able to do whatever they want ("do as thou will") without the worry of an eternal consequence. If you take GOD out of the picture, then there can be no thought of accountability. They just want to WHATEVER they please, but know that if they admit JESUS is true and GOD is real, then they are confronted with needing to repent. And that is their viewpoints are so inconsistent and intellectually dishonest.

As a genuine seeker of truth I wonder if there are any kind-hearted people on here willing to answer two questions. (totally unrelated to this video.) A few things that confuse me about Jesus teaching.
    1. Maybe I am reading it wrong but Jesus on occasion seems to imply that the "unrighteous" will be separated from him at the judgment. He seems to insinuate that the unrighteous are people who do not obey him. If that is the case then I am pretty sure I am one of those people, and I would imagine everyone else, BBBUUUUT then in other places (like prodigal son) he talks about accepting his unrighteous son back home despite all he did. THEN he turns and says that the Pharisees even though they did what was righteous were still not "righteous". He wants us to obey him then calls obedience "filthy rags".
The question is: Does it matter what we do or not? It is very confusing. (sorry I know the was long)
    2. (somewhat related) Why don't (maybe they do) evangelical Christians accept miracle stories recorded in ancient non-biblical works? (I am here defining a miracle that is an act of the immaterial supernatural as the only reasonable explanation for an event) Consider the miracle of the dancing sun at Fatima (1917). This extraordinary event, which was witnessed by more than 30,000 people, was also attested to by unsympathetic, secular sources including Avelino de Almeida, a reporter who had mocked the visionaries at Fatima. She wrote in the newspaper O Século, “Before the astonished eyes of the crowd, whose aspect was biblical as they stood bare-headed, eagerly searching the sky, the sun trembled, made sudden incredible movements outside all cosmic laws-the sun ‘danced’ according to the typical expression of the people.”
Do you accept this historically attested claim of fatima and why?
    AND
Are there any sources about (obviously not confirming because they didn't believe it) but ABOUT the miracles of Jesus life that mention it?
I am sorry if that was long but I am trying to solve these mysteries, not as a troll like most but as a seeker. Thanks.

The Fatima "miracle" is an excellent example of how an extraordinary claim can be taken as true, when in fact, the truth is, it is very very easily explained... try looking directly at the sun for as long as you can... when you look away, the image of the Sun will be momentarily burnt into your retina. if you look in a different part of the sky, that image will follow your gaze, and it will also change color .. this is exactly what those thousands of people claimed, .. that the sun danced in the sky, and changed color. There was also a shower, and people got wet, ... when the sun appeared again, ... guess what, .. it dried their damp clothes. No supernatural explanation needed. People have a propensity to believe what they want to believe.

If I am going to believe in someone I had better have good evidence that it is true.

    • @Malhaloc

We are to obey the teachings of Christ and the word of God. We are to live righteously. BUT! Jesus knows we're going to fail. That's the whole reason he went to the cross, to be a sacrifice to atone for our sins. But, as Paul wrote to the Romans, "Shall we sin now that grace may abound? God forbid!". We are not saved by our works, but through faith in Christ. But when you put that faith in Christ, you won't want to do evil works.
I'm not familiar with the Fatima miracle, but it sounds miraculous. Atheists often say that Christians just attribute anything we don't understand to God and that which we do understand to not God. Therefore, as knowledge increases about how the universe works, belief in God diminishes. It's called the God of the Gaps argument and it's false. We know lightning is not God sitting on a cloud smiting evil. Thunder is not God speaking. But, even though we know what lightning is, we still marvel at it as the work of God.

    KJV John 11:1-45
1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
    35 Jesus wept.
36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
