V.C. Andrews is my favorite author hands down. I've read every book that she's written and published and I love them all. The Landry series is my favorite. I'm just very disappointed in Lifetime and how badly made that these movies were done. The sequence of events were almost all wrong and the characters didn't depict very well with those in the books. The one and only made for television book that was any good, in my opinion, was the first Flowers In The Attic back in the late '80's/early '90's with Kristy Swanson. But, regardless of all that, I still love V.C. Andrews books and I'm thrilled at the fact that even though she's since passed away, that her brother decided to work with a specific writer to carry on her legacy with her story telling.
@@Chefmorgan If you like any of her books that you’ve read so far, I am pretty certain that you will enjoy her other books as well. I love all of them, but, depending on my mood, and what I have on my mind, it varies as to which series is my favorite in spite of my original comment about it being the Landry series. It is my personal favorite and my go to, but all of them have the qualities and unique charm that I love so much. The Hudson series is another favorite of mine. I have a hard time at the library and picking out which series I choose to go with since I work full time. But any of them you choose to read, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
I can't believe they skipped the fact that Heaven WAS given the choice of 2 families to live with, then when she chose, he stated "You made the right choice. " He respected her and gave her her dignity.
I think if it was filmed in the 80's/90's it would have turned out better. Flowers in the Attic was filmed in the late 80's and came closer to the way I envisioned it in my imagination. (I see the characters and play out the scenes while I'm reading the book.) I can't seem to get into these modern -day films. If it doesn't interest me within the first few minutes, I get real depressed and don't want to watch. The book was written in the 80's anyways, so I'm wishing for the hard times in the backwoods. I remember the way it was in those days growing up in the country. Fanny was a fecicious, spirited, girl with wavy black hair. Heaven had straight black hair not quite as long. Sara and Tom were red-headed, yes, and Our Jane blonde with Keith as a brunette. Logan was Heaven's boyfriend Fanny always tried to steal away . V.C. Andrews books are pretty much the only ones carried with me from my childhood that I still love dearly and hold close to my heart ❤️
In the novel, her Daddy gave her the money that was paid for her, and her Grandparents address, and the bus ticket. She never knew of her "stepmothers" death until she read it in a paper en route. And the Step-dad released her, and never chased after.
This is my favorite book. As soon as it started I paused it. The movie starts with a modern day high school scene. I refuse to allow Lifetime to ruin this for me. I skimmed through and saw messed up scene after scene. I wish this was a theater released movie where they could portray it in the scenes and script it was intended for.
Unfortunately not everyone has had access to the book as you have had so for those of us who haven't, this upload is great. Thank you for making the effort for those of us who don't know the book scene by scene. Much appreciated.
I loved the book series too. No movies ever live up the V.C Andrews books unfortunately in my 40 years nothing compares to the book series. I did love the Heaven series though. I will give the movie a go. But just like Flowers in the Attic movies, never as good as the books
@@danae7054 I’m not disregarding the upload. I’m upset about the movie and the bastardizing of my favorite book. If you don’t have access to the book, look no further than your local library.

The ignorance and cruelty thrown at those kids just because of who their grandfather was is just stupid. And the way the father treated his kids is cruel. He sold them, killed the baby, and dogged Heaven to the core. Don't know why he'd keep her around if it just just to be a bully. I was a Sidney Sheldon fan years before i was a V.C. Andrews fan. There's a big difference. V.C. Andrews novels are for teenagers. Sidney Sheldon's novels are for adults.
As a lifelong VC Andrews fan, I even named my daughter Heaven Leigh, I absolutely hate the actress they chose to play heaven. Don’t get me wrong she’s a great actress & pretty in her own way but, she is nothing, absolutely nothing like Heaven is portrayed in the books. You can’t tell me not 1 feminine, petite, pretty dark haired girl tried out for this part. They would’ve been better off casting the girl who played Audrina in My Sweet Audrina. & Tom, Tom had red hair like Sara & Leigh was a silvery blonde. They messed this series up but, thanks for posting!
@@consighneeseal5202 yes there’s books & movies ( lifetime made the books into movies) . In order Heaven, Dark Angel, Fallen Hearts, Gates of Paradise & Web of dreams. It’s the Casteel family series by VC Andrews.
wow.... just wow... i dont get why everything got changed for the sake of changing it.. was there some sort of copyright issue or something?? why bother making an adaptation if you cant stick to the original source material... Kitty.... a dental hygienist????? wtf
Would it have killed the producers to hire an actress who had black hair? Hair color had great meaning in the Casteel series. Heaven always thought her black hair was a curse and always wanted silvery blond hair like her mother. And don't get me started on the actress who played Leigh, who had Queen Elizabeth II hair for some reason ..🤬
Or even have her wear a wig. It might not seem like a big deal but in these stories, it is. Heaven had dark hair later dyed blonde to resemble her mom.
I agree but queen Elizabeth was very fahionable at that time, right? so it makes sense that Leigh wears a similar hairstyle since the book happens during the 50s, when the queen was a young lady and fashion icon (but it should have been in blonde!!!)
Lifetime, or the studio responsible for these movies, consistently struggles with maintaining a coherent time period. Take the FITA series, for example - a film that often appeared rooted in the present, only to randomly introduce props from a different era, just to remind you that it was in fact set in another era. Ridiculous.
Quick reminder in case you didn't know we've all sin and we all deserve to go to hell but God loves us so much that he came down on earth as a human man and died for our sins and was risen in three days. so if you have faith though grace in him and accept him as your Lord and saviour you'll go to heaven.😊 I also hate that Hollywood portrays Christianity like this.
Sister, unfortunately most professing Christian churches teach some form of false gospel. As a result, everyone has been infected by it on some level including non-christians. The true gospel is simple. You just believe that Jesus who is the Son God, born of a virgin, died, was buried, and rose again on the 3rd day. His blood shed was enough to pay for all sins of all mankind, of time periods. Anyone who believes that is saved forever. No matter what.😊 Might I make a small correction? The Bible uses the word "believe" not "accept". By believing you also accept. I know that sounds nit-picky, but the devil is subtle and we need to be careful that we don't open doors for stumbling. The word "accept" causes some people to ask questions of what that means, and if they happen to be talking to a false believer, that's when false teachers will answer with false doctrine: John 6:40 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and *believeth* on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. Emphasis added.
Societal traumata always follows relational traumata every trauma informed therapies says. Hollywood portrayed the harsh and hypocrit society as ugly as it really is and I'm witness of it daily
