  • 🏍️ Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 💨 Exhaust Sound, Top Speed & Mileage
🏍️ Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 ₹ price starting at Rs. Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
    Interceptor 650 real-world mileage is roughly 26kmpl.
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 engine produces 47.6PS and 53NM , mating with a 6-speed slip-assist gearbox. It comes with standard dual-channel ABS too.
Undoubtedly, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is one of the most anticipated motorcycles of recent times. We had a chance to sample it in California, where it really blew us away. But now that we’ve ridden it in India, we’re even more impressed with it, especially when you factor in its incredible starting price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the Interceptor 650 the most affordable multi-cylinder motorcycle in the country at the moment, besting bikes with less than half its cubic capacity.
The Interceptor 650 is also the first all-new motorcycle for Royal Enfield since the Himalayan came out in 2016, and represents an new direction for the brand, as it ventures into the mid-capacity multi-cylinder segment. It’s powered by a 649cc air-and-oil-cooled parallel twin motor, and is built around an uncomplicated, yet capable, dual cradle frame. Sporting no modern electronic wizardry, the Interceptor 650 is a hark back to the simpler days of motorcycling.

Hey, thank you for watching. 🙏 Sorry for not replying to each individual comment.
1- Glad to hear that the video helped you make a decision. And thank you again for commenting and letting us know. It really makes our day
    2. Thank you for your suggestions. We will do a more detailed review later when we get the bike. We will incorporate the suggestions then.
    3. Jawa comparison - can't really compare the two - too much of a difference in specs and price. And can't comment on Jawa until we ride them.
4 - The vibration test - it's no suction cup. It's just a travel mug - we were super crunched on time and couldn't go to a chai tapri to shoot that test. The rubberised bottom only kept it from sliding - we tested it on another bike - with the engine revving it fell off.
    Once again, thank you.

Guys good job being first with the review. Really worked. I think you are discounting the Continental's potential in India. It is going to slowly pull away buyers from R15 & Duke. A drag racer with a potential kill rate of 0, unlike KTM that is the byword for accidents. A drag racer your girlfriend can actually sit behind. You should get a sports bike fanatic on a continental and review it.

I'm in Switzerland and my mouth is watering for this bike. I have to say that at 65 I'm a bit of a codger but when I was but a lad I craved the original RE Interceptor...never got there though, instead I bought a used '64 Bonnie.
I don't much care about speed and horsepower as much as good handling and "looks". It appears the boys at Royal Enfield realized there is a huge void to fill with this bike and filled it they did.

This bike hits the sweet spot for me, a 46 year old who learnt how to ride on a 1979 Bullet. So, it is kind of coming full circle. If I buy it, it will be as a heirloom that I will pass on to my daughter (BTW, the 1979 350 is still there in the family). Also, I love parallel twin engines and have been a fan of both the Yezdi 350 twin and the RD350. I almost went for a Triumph some time ago, but this one gives me pride in more ways than one. I hope I will be able to get one soon and enjoy years of beautiful motoring. Thank you for the fantastic review Kartikeya Singhee!

I put my money where my opinion is .... I bought an Interceptor in Ravishing Red. AND I LOVE IT. I am 71, retired, have ridden most of my life. My Interceptor is all the bike I will ever need until they send me to the drooling academy for senile old farts. It handles better than a Triumph, has GREAT brakes, is nimble in the twisties, great around town, and can cruise on the freeway at 75mph all day long with ample power in reserve for passing. And it looks FANTASTIC, just like the big twins I lusted after in my youth. It is good for every-day use as well as touring. I do not need a crotch rocket. I need a practical bike. It may be a second or second and a half slower than some from zero to 60 but who gives a rip. It has plenty of get up and GO to put a grin on my face. My one and only nit is that finding alloy wheels to run tubeless tires is next to impossible ... but I found some. www.dropbox.com/s/drye7pgx9c0ypnn/RE%20TUBELESS%20WHEELS%20INFO.docx?dl=0 You may think they are butt-ugly, but when you think about crawling around in the dirt for two hours to swap out a punctured tube 100 miles from nowhere with no cell service all of a sudden they look beautiful.

Back in the late 60's here in the USA, THE bikes to have and lust after were the big twins ... Triumph, BSA, Norton, Royal Enfield ... all English bikes. Back then the big Harleys were for old codgers. I couldn't afford one back then. Years later I had a BSA 441 Victor and loved that little bike. Since then I have owned Harley 74 CI Panhead, Yamaha 850 triple, BMW 1150 RT and have ridden many others. The Yamaha triple was a great bike and I rode the shit out of it in Phoenix for years. Later I got the BMW 1150 RT and it was a great bike too but it had a habit of going about 40 mph faster than you thought you were going and it ended up damned near killing my ass because of that ... hit pea gravel in a corner, left the highway at 90mph, the bike flipped 14 times according to a witness and looked like the Jolly Green Giant crumpled up a beer can and the doctors spent 14 hours in surgery prying my right leg out of my left arm pit (a little poetic license there, but I was busted up pretty bad) ... I DON'T NEED another bike like that! My Interceptor fully satisfies my youthful lust for a big twin in all ways and is the perfect bike for this old fart.

Wonderful presentation sir! I love classic motorcycles but I want them newish and trouble free! That's how my "radar" cought Interceptor 2 years ago, while it was under development, immediately I fell in love with the timeless looks and the hole idea of designing an engine from scratch but with the eyes firmly set to the past and the ties of the company with its heritage! I couldn't wait all the way though and I got myself a lovely Guzzi v7 III! Hope this one will be a hit though, cause it is made with love and with a vision for a wonderful future for the brand!
I will even dare a prediction about its reliability! It will not be a new Himalyia, production was held back for so long to extend its testing and fine tuning so much that I am certain that it will be a first class motorcycle that will pass every quality check from the start!

Went on my (Sep 2015) Duke 390 to do 15 minute test rides of each RE 650 version today. Took a friend along to get another opinion. PROS: Lovely (un-Duke) sound, very Un-RE (i.e "good") finish, decent (not outstanding) brakes. CONS: Suspension that's comfortable (i.e.un-Duke) until 100 kmph in a straight line, made the bikes wobbly above 80-90 kmph on sweeping, smooth-surfaced curves. Wanted to check the effect of adding a pillion and luggage, and on bad roads as well, but was asked to wait until local dealers get demo bikes next week. Overall - Can't expect more at INR 3 lakhs on road. But the same is true of the 2018 Duke 390 - a far more refined, comfortable bike than mine, handles, accelerates and brakes better than either RE 650, and fits in the load bed of my VCross with the tailgate shut. Got to leave the tailgate open with the RE's...a dicey proposition unless I can find a rear-view camera that can adjust for tail-gate open and tailgate shut situations. LONG TERM QUALITY : KTM - no issues barring two head gaskets replaced under warranty within the first 2 months, and Metzeler rear tyres that are gone in 6000 km. RE (The brand, not necessarily the 650 product) : ????. Comparisons with any new bike over INR 3 lakh, IMHO, are meaningless...unless one looks (and sensibly so) at used 650 + cc Kawasakis, Triumphs etc.

Good that you covered quality issues with initial batch of royal Enfield. After himalayas debacle (and also initial thunderbird, 50 anniversary electra, electric start versions etc) I am not so excited with initial booking. I will wait for them to finish their testing on first set of customers.
For continental I have found two issues just sitting on it. One is tank is too thin and thus you will have to sit like gentle ladies to hold bike properly and second major issue is brake pedal. Metal in brake pedal is angled in such a way that you will touch metal lever arm instead of rubber clad lever at end. This is more pronounced with flat shoes or any shoe with heels like formal shoes. For sports shoe it may not be issue. But cmon.... That such a major issue was not cought by anyone in years of testing?
There should have been option for alloy wheel for more safe feel. Getting flat at 160kmph might prove fatal.!

    Hi Singhee
Your introduction of the interceptor was so entertaining through out the 16 minutes. I really enjoyed it all, especially the vibration test with the tea cup on the tank.
I'm looking forward after a six months booking time and a few days more to hit the road with an all new RE. (good things can wait😉)

I don't know why but I fall in love with this guy's presentation. Nice performance dude , surely better than RE.

I travel about 120km a day to and fro for work. Most of the trip is on the highway. This bike should be perfect for my daily commute

Sure does excite, brilliant move by RE, blue ocean strategy played with absolute brilliance by the promoters. 😎
