  • 🏍 Triumph Street Twin price in India is Rs 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Royal Enfield Interceptor at 2.51 lakh.
🏍 Royal Enfield Interceptor vs Triumph Street Twin which one better? Let Us Know Comments Section!
Triumph’s Street Twin has been one of their highest selling models in recent times. For 2019, the Brits have made it cooler and surprisingly, it is more affordable for India. Hence, it is the most affordable British twin available in India. Or is it? Because Royal Enfield went big with the Interceptor 650. It is already selling like hot cakes. Why shouldn’t it? We have longed for a big Enfield for decades and our wishes came true.
Royal Enfield made every single bikemaker sit up and take notice as it managed to price the Interceptor at a super accessible Rs 2.5 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. And even though the Street Twin is more affordable (by Rs 25,000 at Rs 7.45 lakh, ex-showroom India), it is still three times the amount of the Interceptor.
Both bikes come with a parallel-twin motor with a 270-degree crank. While the Enfield just has 648cc to play with, the Triumph offers 250 cee cees more. This obviously gives the Street Twin an advantage in the performance numbers, 65PS vs 47PS and more importantly, 80Nm vs 52Nm.
Why not also check out our video review of the Interceptor: www.youtube.co....

Interceptor is better choice..the reasons which is mentioned to buy twin is not all convincing.
Just because interceptor is little bulky while parking moving and puncture situation it’s hard to push why should I have to triple price. 🤑🤑🤑

I considered both of these bikes, test rode both and got out the door prices on both. The Triumph was clearly the better bike, but not enough so to justify the difference in price and maintenance costs.
I bought the RE 650. After 2 years my total cost of ownership (MSRP, tax, title, license, fuel, maintenance and insurance) still hasn't exceeded the MSRP of buying the street twin.

I will chose a triumph, unless someone can assure me that this RE is 100% safe and components especially critical ones are not going to fail when on a highways. Quality and reliability is a huge parameter for me.

Interesting! 2 years after this review I find myself with this same choice but the price difference has narrowed considerably. In the UK a new RE Interceptor costs about £6,000 and a new, unused 2020 Street Twin can be found for £7,600. For sure the Street Twin is the better bike by any reasonable measurement but I find myself leaning towards the Interceptor. I recently sold my much loved Himalayan when forced to return home from the Middle East and I miss identifying with the Royal Enfield brand and riding with other Royal Enfield riders. Buying a bike is not always reasonable so having got this far writing this, I have made a decision. It's the Interceptor for me and I will spend the £1,600 saved riding around the country I left 23 years ago on a great Indian motorcycle.

Nice video guys. One advice to RE (if they are reading the comments here), they should immediately modify their twin silencers in both 650 twins and make them look like like those on Triumph’s Street Twin. This will enhance the looks of the bikes for sure, those raised silencers don't go along with that flat seat and are not practical too.

So the question is do you want to pay $3,000 more for better fit and finish and the ability to cruise at 80 mph (130 kmh) on the US Interstate system? If you ride in the City, probably get an RE. So, especially for the incredible price, the RE is the way to go. 650cc is enough, unless you are a certified maniac. Great video. Both are designed in the UK. One is an English company, and the other is an Indian company as regards ownership of the two marques.
Both machines are CAD/CAM designed and manufactured. . One is assembled by loving indian hands, and the other by loving Thai hands.
If the styling aim is for a classic British bike from the 1970's, then it's the Royal Enfield by a country mile.
If the bikes are reliable - and with a 3 year warranty why wouldn't they be, - then on a value for money basis it's again the Royal Enfield.
The Triumph offers some extra niceties in the finesse of parts etc - but you pay for the privilege. As both are naked bikes, neither would be suitable for long distance touring.
I would go with the RE - for it's styling, acceptable quality for the price - and I have no doubt the quality would be better than the original bikes from the 1970's (Triumph and BSA) on which this bike is modelled.
I also think the RE twins will do sensationally well in the market compared to the Triumph. Bikes in the 50,s 60's and 70's in 1st world countries used to be seen as a cheaper and fun alternative to a car. In developing countries I'd think they're still seen as the same.
However, now in 1st world countries bikes hold a niche market place, and charge accordingly. It's difficult to make an argument for a bike purchase these days unless you're a deadset enthusiast, when you're paying as much or more for a bike as for a good quality car.
The RE" mark a return to good quality, fun, reliable and sensational looking bikes at realistic prices that the everyman can afford. It also means it's possible to have both a car and a great bike in the garage rather than having to choose one or the other when the bike is competing with the car on price.
I wish RE every success with these twins, and as they develop the model and with marketing, the company could very much become a new leader in the international motor cycle market place.

The guy on the Triumph looks and sounds like a 5 year old spoilt brat. Very comical review. "Made in Chennai not in Coventy". Dude the Street Twin is either made in Thailand or Manesar. The Triumph is a great machine. But nit picking on machine which costs almost 3 times lesser.....grow up kiddo..!!

Serviceability is important to me. So, I'd pick the Interceptor

What a great, balanced and thorough review of two beautiful bikes! You guys are really charming and easy to listen to and have really good genuine banter.
This video also makes me miss India, and particularly riding in India sooo much. I have great memories of riding a 50 year old Royal Enfield with the original iron cylinder 10 years ago around Rajasthan and also all the way down to Cochin! Although we put the bike on the train from Mumbai to Goa. Some very challenging times, but also good memories!
I love the mechanical simplicity, classic looks, and democratic price point of the RE, although being on the shorter side, if I had the money, the compact size and also beefy modern re-imagining of British classic would probably pip the post for me.
    Thanks again and Jai Hind!

It’s not even a competition. It’s like comparing the Skoda kodiak to the BMW x3 cause both run a 2lt diesel making almost identical power.
The Interceptor with its 1/3 cost just makes a damm good case here and is a winner ...hands down. 👍🏻

So you are saying Kodiak is better than bmw?

@@akhilbhalgat2339 being a Skoda it will be better built than the equivalent Audi using the same parts.

and another thing. You are mentined Indian prices. Therefore just go for RE. In europe, there is not that big of the difference between the too. RE is 7400 euroes, ST is 8300 eruoes

I am looking for my next bike. I live In Dallas Texas and will doing a ton of city riding. I am semi-retired now and my last two bikes were Harleys. Even at U.S. prices I think the Interceptor is the better value. I just can't justify almost double the motorcycle payment for marginally better performance. Also the warranty is longer on the Interceptor. I think the Interceptor wins.

If your papa have too much money and pillion for long to go, go 4 triumph,
Interceptor engine is enough for india road, if i have single two wheeler i will buy interceptor because i will not need to wait for spare and repair.
Aap road pe bike park karke jao or koi usse chhede nahi wo jyada maine rakhta hai.

All cons of interceptor can be fixed by doing little bit mods.. alloy wheels 20K, hard seat pading 3K, preload adjustment around 1K during service and will not cost me 3 times...
So from me Big no to triumph Street tween

Can it be converted to tubeless tyres after getting alloy wheels installed?
