Single Cab S10 Subwoofer Box

- Have no room for a subs in an S10 Single Cab? I feel ya! However, I'm not going to let tight quarters keep me from hearing some hump in the trunk!
This is how I built a box to fit a 10" JL Audio 10W3 D-4, behind the driver’s seat.
I bought this speaker used from Facebook Marketplace for $200. Not a bad deal! They are $330 new on Amazon. Great speaker!
I just talked to my stepdad about doing this with two 12s 😂 I don’t need my seat all the way back but a click or two up is enough room for me. I can’t wait to get it set up and finished.
The slim D-4s are the jam... only 3.25” inches needed behind the speaker for clearance.
The one 10 is decent, but two 12s will hit hard as hell!
I’m going to build mine now I was going to have it made but you inspired me to make my own thanks🤟🏽 I got a 09 single cab Colorado that I want subs in I’m probably going to put 2 on each side if not just one would probably be enough in that small single cab

I've seen guys move the jack box so they can put the box behind the passenger seat, would love to have that box you made for your truck.

Looks good I wanna make a custom box on the passenger side of the 2001 s10 but i push the front seat forward enough space for 1 15” inch kicker i wonder if that is possible
Of it’s a regular cab, probably not. Extended cab, you can probably get it.

@@1jdm408 I have two of these in a 06 crewcab behind the rear seat. They sound alright nothing too loud I would run another two 4 in total to even out the bass.

In static there is clearance, but how about full excursion? based purely on what I saw from the video for clearance and the mechanical capability of that driver, it seems it will be slapping the back of the seat.
One-Way Linear Excursion (Xmax): 0.6 in/15.2 mm on that speaker. we don't calculate full excursion because that movement would include travel back into the enclosure.
Just need verification that it does not slap the seat, as I am currently investigating options for a 99 dime right now.
You are correct. If i really eat the speaker hump, it will hit the seat. The way I usually listen to it though, it’s not a problem.
@@CliffsHowTo So in theory you could make roughly 4 to 8 blocks 3/4 inch thick and about two inches long or longer (depending on number of blocks used) and install those around the speaker to keep the seat off the speaker and be able to slam it no problems.

Yeah, I kept an eye out on Facebook marketplace. I got lucky and got them used, in new condition, in the original sales boxes, for $200 each!
I got one for the S10, one for the corvette!
Should these boxes be ported or sealed when using shallow woofers?
Can be ported or not. JL website has specs for both.
Great video! Got a ‘92 s10 2wd standard cab long bed and there is no freakin room behind the bench seat with jack box back there also! Just want better sound than stock setup still in it. Was looking at the Rockville RW10CA 800w powered sub box for $129, any suggestions? I know this box isn’t going to sound anything like yours but thought for a cheap, quick solution it might be ok, will be replacing the dash 4x6’s and 4x10’s in the side pillars and head unit as well with less expensive but better than stock stuff. Any ideas are definitely appreciated brother! 👍🏻
I’m not familiar with that brand/setup, so I can’t really speak to that. At 800 watts though, that’s more than what I’ve got in my setup. Mines at 500, and hits pretty good.
@@CliffsHowTo I am alittle skeptical at $129 tho, have a feeling it’s going to sound like the sub boxes we sell at Autozone. Over 1/4 the way up on volume and it’ll sound like a paper shredder on steroids! Hahahaha thanx for the response bud 👍

A 2 channel 500 watts max would run that I believe
I got a single 1000 that outputs 500 rms. Powers it pretty good!
And I thought my 87 k10 was cramped behind the seat lol

It hits for sure! A lot of what’s are crap? The speaker or amp? I’ve had many JLs, and they’ve all been pretty good!
