- In this video, Mick explores 20 different breaks. The break off shot is the most important shot in English 8 ball pool, so getting this right will give you the best chance to win the game.
Obviously, there is no golden rule with the break that will guarantee that you pot a ball and have a great split, so this video is just a bit of fun.

Any updates on the cousins money match
Loved this. Made me feel better about inconsistent breaks! It’s black magic, that’s what it is.
Absolutely brilliant Mick 😂
Love ur channel and videos!!
So the moral of the story on that particular table is control over power. Every break that had less than max power a ball was made (not factoring the white). Been trying the Selby tap for a while now. Some tables love it, others don't. Nice vid Mick. Always appreciated.
The missus never lets me do Break no.6 these days 😢
Maybe because it’s always dry…
Loved it . Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
so after watching this, which break do you use and recommend? Noticed that with pros in UP the white goes in 4-5 times out of 10. madness
Break no 21, from one side of baulk, fine cut the point ball. Gives a great split and a ball quite often😊
Yes it does. 👍
Hah, I'll have to try it for fun
Does that table break differently to a supreme then
Love the faces mick lol
🤣
Ha Ha Ha , i had a good giggle, thanks Mick!... seriously though it's the most important shot of the game these days and so hard to perfect every time. (point of video?) My opinion if there's a weakness in your game it's the break. Iv'e seen you lose so many games matches because of the break🤷🎱
it was just a bit of fun, no real point except that there is no golden rule to the break off shot.
What steps should I take trying to make it a professional career path in pool I have a coach, I play with an ex England player. I’m 24 and I want to know the next move to make a successful career in pool
The break for me is the most important one to conquer and I practice it a LOT. 😊
I'm pottting off the break more times than not now. 😊
it sure is, a good break is crucial
Q how important is footwork when lining up shots..thanks
Great vids Mick.....I see many players don't clean the balls before a match. Clean balls go a long way to spreading the pack while eliminating possible multiple kicks around the pack.
Can make them slide something rotten too
break 17 was actually one of the best 🤣
Oly Bale best watch out!
@@mickthemachinehill yes he should! By the way , great channel I’ve picked up some really good tips thanks
I take a run up from about 6 foot behind the table. Loads of power..
The last one was the best!
I had enough by then! 😆
Do you recommend using a break cue, Mick? See so many league/county players use one now, but not sure its worth the purchase.
I'll answer in my upcoming Q&A. thanks for the question
Which pro player makes a ball from the break most often? Tom Cousins or Mark Boyle? The front break surely leaves a better layout, but perhaps the cut break improves your chances of making a ball?
🙌🙌🙌🙌
ill be doing break 15 from now on. 😂😂
Great video Mick , how does mark selby just lightly tap the balls but ends up making one almost every time 😅
🤷♂️
if you can do it like mark boyle the cut break is the way to go!
Would love to see what part of the white ball your hitting
The white bit! 😆
@@mickthemachinehill can you do some videos of why the new EPA rule set is good for the game and why it makes games more enjoyable and why it can make player become more technical and inprove there skill levels
Show us your tournament break🔥💯
👀😂
Hey Mick to watch you do those breaks was pure torcher . I'm sure that I told you how I break , believe it or not but I did teach all women's pool team how to break , and they got damn good doing it , every time they break they always make 2 or 3 balls from my style of breaking . I just watch you break a rack of balls , I really didn't like any of them . The only thing I notice was your breaking stand was good , but the rest was the shits . Try my style of breaking and you will breaking like a true champion , it might take a few practice shots , but you will catch on and like it , what do you have to lose . You remember your first break , you stand on the right side of the table , go stand there again ok , aiming at the bottom right side of the head ball , now when you break with easy follow through with cue stick with bottom left side siding the cue ball spin off the side of the head ball and the cue ball would hit the side rail and bounce off to hit the rack of balls the second time , it be like a double break . With a little practice you would make 2 or 3 balls every time . The real trick of breaking is you would be in shock from this style of breaking using very little power in your cue , when I break the rack of balls would explode , when you break , do a follow through with your cue , there's no need to shoot hard . When you follow through it just be like hitting the cue ball with a sledge hammer People would often ask me if I had a natural born talent to play pool , I said no , but its in my blood to play , my parents played pool . Also when played , or practice it would be a average of 60 hours per week . Let me know if you like my style of breaking and you find out if was better to do a follow through when you break
'Try my style of breaking and you'll be breaking like a true champion'.
Are you aware that you're addressing the six time WEPF Pool World Champion? The person who is measurably the greatest living champion at English 8 Ball 😅?
I'm sure there's lots you can teach him though champ!
Is that a 6 footer or a 7 footer in table length?
7 foot
@mickthemachinehill I could never understand the 2 sizes in tables for that Cuesport? Maybe you can explain it to me
@@mickthemachinehill Love the channel
@@HillbillyIslandLife With UK tables its probably because they had to be small to fit into UK pubs which have restricted space
@@jaybe2908 gotcha
Everyone thought Steve Irwin died, turns out he moved to England to sell pool tables…
Crikey, mate
What about the jail break? From behind, hard, pot 2 balls
🤣, very good.
That look3d like hard graft Mick lol
It was a bit, but just a little fun
Was watching this thinking 1 attempt at each break isn't a large enough sample size to learn anything. But also thinking Micks quite a clever guy, I'm sure he'll make a good observation at the end of the video. Nope, if this video had a point, I was too stupid to pick up on it. You put out some great content thats very educational, but sadly this video felt a waste of time for me
just a bit of fun, thats all.
@@mickthemachinehill can you make another with only legit breaks please? I think there are close to a dozen solid choices to experiment with. Also, it would be interesting to study grip hand techniques (eg snapping of wrist, firm grip, etc). Cheers
It's the cut break, end of discussion
Why so?
@@mickthemachinehill less chance of in off, screw into cushion, you go back in to the pack breaking the pack twice, balls more spread out, higher chance of break and dishing and if there's a golden ball, you and everyone else knows that's the best way to pot the black.
End of day. More likely to break and dish and none of the pinball effect breaking backwards
Not your best video but keep them coming topman
Not sure about the energy from this video mick. Hope you're doing ok!
End of the day filming, so it was just a little fun to wrap things up, but I was getting a little tired.....
The one break I'm happy to see you didn't include was the (look how much muscles I have) whilst digging the tip into the cloth and bendng the cue. Bothers me when some pro's do this as the can influence many people to do it which most of the time when their doing it, it's not even on their own table. Total lack of respect to the owner of the table plus serves no purpose in my eyes and I'm sure that could be scientifically proven.
Keep your videos coming please as I'm always learning cheers.👍
Maybe breaking off just isn't your strong point 😄
I need more practice.
@@mickthemachinehill 😂
That's 11 minutes I'll never get back.
could be worse, could have been 15 minutes. 😂
Is that a cue ball or ping pong ball now?😂😂
It did fly off a few times didn't it? oops.
